Lee's Chinese Takeaway in Cardiff

We ordered at the very last minute before closing. Rushed there and they were still open and handed us the food *phew!* The food was absolutely amazing! The tofu, was out of this world, so fluffy and delicious! Highly recommend this place!

Ordered delivery with chicken balls and asked for curry sauce but got sweet and sour and received only £3 change from a £22.50 order and £30 given. Told driver was ok was I was going to call and driver hasn’t turned back up with change. Robbed

The woman who delivered my food was beyond stupid

Put a specific note saying upon delivery knock door and hand it to me. Driver left food on the floor and drove away. Won't be ordering from here again see what environmental health think about this Monday morning

Was supposed to be 46 mins was with us in record time. We hadn't finished cooking the rice. Lots of meat and very tasty, Beef with mushrooms.Thai red curry order , spicy!😄

Food is great - Phoned up to ask if the Peking sauce was vegetarian and did not get a clear answer. They then hung up. Bad customer service

Absolutely terrible gave me the driest salt and chilli chicken cardboard has a higher water content. Each piece was tiny and as small as cereal. The hot and spicy ribs looked like either chicken wings and a Harry Potter wand. Absolutely 0 edible meat on both just bare bones in a tub with onions and carrots. Beef in black bean was fine but experience was ruined by then. Waste of money and not to mention the 1 hour half delivery that couldn’t ring a doorbell.

Drove down from Aberdare to Cardiff for this Chinese as you can't get the same up here.. Called my order ahead and was ready for us when I arrived flavours were on point was nice and hot and the service was friendly as always will be back. (ate it in the car by Roath Park so it wouldn't go cold on the drive home.. Worth it)

Ordered from here bc I thought it would be quick, almost 2 hours later after saying it would roughly take an hour. Food is nothing special, ordering from my usual ‘Great China’ next time. Also a few hairs in my chips… 🫠

If you give special instructions on the app don't bother they don't read them and if your disabled and live in a block of flats don't order from them as they wouldn't press the buzzer to be let in to deliver it to your front door I had to go outside and get it even after explaining on the phone I need you to press the buzzer please. The food was rubbish grainy rice and soggy batter with dirty oil taste on the chicken balls. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Food arrived and what we had received was fine, missing rice and an hour later still not appeared despite calling and saying we wanted it delivered not refunded. Will look elsewhere to order next time

Horrendous food was luke warm chips looks like they been dumped in water then straight in wrapped completely soaked the paper was and chips barley cooked and soaking with grease

We ordered take out to be delivered to our hotel, and these people are not very intelligent. First, they did not reference our room number, so the food sat in reception for a while. Second, they did not add any utensils to the order even though we requested utensils on the notes. And last, the food was awful. Worst Chinese food we ever had… no flavor… not even salt… totally bland. Don’t order here… this place is rubbish.

First time ordering from Lee’s and I must say I was impressed. The food was hot and tasty, even the chips were hot !!!!! My only issue was the total amount, I seem to pay more than the menu prices ! Maybe it’s gone up? Or delivery charge, who knows as you don’t get a receipt. This won’t stop me ordering again as the meal was tasty & hot.

Good food here as i have tried numerous Chinese takeaways around Cardiff. Fast delivery and gave me a refund when they gave me the wrong sauce one time.

Ok don't usually write reviews but after seeing all the 1 star reviews before hand I feel like I owe them the good review they deserve! I've ordered from almost every Chinese takeaway on just eat and this is by far the best one I've had so far and the one I'm definitely going to stick with. Maybe I caught them on a good day... Who knows? But what I do know is, the food was on point, service was great and delivered 20 mins before estimated time and hot to. A bit pricier than other Chinese takeaways but for me imo it was worth every penny.

I've been ordering from Lee's takeaway for years, food has always been fast and freshly cooked. Don't quite understand the low reviews but I've moved around Cardiff a couple of times and never found a better Chinese than Lee's. Always top quality.

Expensive, pancake roll raw and hardly any meat on their special fried rice. Steer clear. Bad value for money

Expensive compared to other take alway’s it arrived late, was cold and had items missing which ruined the meal. It looked most unappetising and was equally tasteless. This was obviously cooked using the cheapest of ingredients and cooked badly to boot! When I called to say we were missing items I was told go back to the just eat app and promptly the guy hung up! This is by far the worst takeaway I have ever had - Rubbish, avoid!

Ordered around 5pm on a Wednesday. App said it'd be an hour for delivery. It took TWO (and three phone calls)! ! It was NOT with the wait! The tofu was chewy and tough, the spare ribs were overdone (with not much meat), the chips were cold and soggy, and the prawn toast was cold and tasted like it was cooked in old dirty oil. Really not impressed.

They missed two fortune cookies from our delivery which totaled £1.20. The menu also said we would receive 10 sweet and sour chicken balls but we only received 8, so in total they missed off £2 worth of food from our £20 delivery. Not very good.

there are some very unfair sounding reviews on here - the place has reopened after shutdown so perhaps there were some teething troubles. had a good selection from here last night. Its not high end chinese, but it s a good solid neighbourhood takeway. Reasonable prices, good portions, tasty food.

Arrived 10 minutes early. Hot and tasty. Can’t fault it. It was our first meal from Lee’s and would use again.

Got to be honest all the other chinese takeaways were busy, I really didn't want to order from this place due to the low rating. But for me it has been the best I've had. Chips are like real chippy chips. And all dishes are not have heavy with oil like other places.

I have ordered here for the first time and will not be ordering again the quality of the meat and food was just awful.

Absolutely disgusting service, disgusting food, disgusting premises. Ordered through Just eat and promised delivery before 8.30. Rang at 8.50 and was told it had left, constantly rang from 9.20 till 10.00 (phone off the hook). Had to drive there to collect only to find a grotty dirty premises with food stacked up and delivery drivers stood around. Again lied to by staff,told no refund available. Got our food and was abruptly told to leave the premises. Meal went straight in the bin as it was inedible. Footnote.... health inspectors need to visit Lee's Takeaway, Whitchurch road.

Shame I had to leave a 1 star, not even worthy of that. Delivery took 4.5 hours (was told 80 mins). No communication, could not get through to takeaway, always engaged or when they did answer they cut you off. Ordered through JustEat so cancelled order for it to then show up?! Items missing and some items were wrong. Definitely one to avoid.

Have used before but last two times awful. Tonight pancake roll cold in a thick batter, almost like pastry, fed to the dog. Chips were a cold mixture ~ some black, some ok, some inedible, curry lumpy, soup awful. Total waste of money.

Ordered via just eat and we were given a time of 23.10, which was over an hours from the time we ordered, but to my surprise it arrived after just 20 minutes! Everything was clearly microwaved, either rubbery or rock hard. I asked for no peas in one of the dishes which they clearly ignored because there were more peas than meat. Also ordered a bag of chips that ere so over cooked they were brown and swimming in oil. Also ridiculously over priced for what you actually get! 3 small dishes and bag of chips cost over 20 quid. Avoid this place at all costs if you want decent food and reasonable prices.

Rang Lee's Chinese takeaway on whitchurch road Cardiff at 7 pm tonight Saturday 14th September for a delivery for 8 pm , so that`s an hour notice! Phone is answered and person says " number 4" which is our house number which also says that they know our phone number which gives them the house number Yes? 8.15 I ring and say our delivery is not here! Person says "did you use just eat" no I reply phoned direct! Person says that old chestnut " it's on it's way" 9.25 phone rings and I answer it and a Asian voice says " I outside number 6 with your order" Why number 6 I say when you know it's number 4? Reply was our delivery drivers car breakdown! I say we don`t want it now and we wont be using you again you`ve given us dreadful service and dreadful attitude towards paying customers! Only reply was " YOU NO WANT FOOD"! I will never use LEE`S CHINESE TAKEAWAY EVER!!

Fancied a Chinese takeaway and being new to the area wasn't sure where to go. Found this place online offering delivery for £2.50 so decided to give it a go. Delivery was prompt and the food was good. The prawn crackers were full of flavour. I had a vegetable curry and the sauce was very thick which was nice. Would use them again.

It's sad to spend money with bad food. I don't usually give a feedback, but I ordered a chicken fried rice and it was the worst I've ever had. After a long day I was expecting to have some comfort food but instead I had a tasteless and disappointing dish. Also, my order has been delivered 30 minutes late. Will never order again and don't recommend it!

Have used Lee's since the closure of the Sun-Sun. This meal was not of the same quality from Lee's that I had come to expect. The battered chicken balls were stodgy and the chicken stringy, the pancake roll similar, anything but crispy (more like a chapati roll), the chow mein is changed vastly from what I remember, and the Kung Po chicken also very different. Called to ask if the business had changed ownership, management or chefs, received an indifferent and largeiy unintelligible reply. Will not use this takeaway again.

£60 order ... half of which didn’t turn up ... we all make mistakes but the attitude of the guy on the phone was awful ... we would have ordered again as the food was lovely but 2 hours from order and then 45 minutes between food coming ... order at your peril!!! Hope you are not hungry!

Had a Chinese meal delivered from this place the food was really good kept u informed of when it would be delivered and everything was very tasty would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good Chinese food

Gave Lees another chance after waiting ages for them to deliver last time. This time they were even worse. We waited two hours!!! When I rang after an hour and a half of waiting, there was no apology just that they were on their way! No compensation for the wait either. No more chances, we will not be ordering from Lees again.

Unfortunately on this occasion most of it went in the bin. It took an hour and a half to arrive and was barely warm, then they had forgotten the prawn crackers so we had to wait another 25 minutes for them to bring those back. The crispy beef was just not edible, full of fat and gristle and tasted like dirty cooking oil, the rice was clumpy and stodgy and the ribs nothing but fat. The chicken and sweetcorn soup had no flavour at all and the pancake roll had 2 tiny pieces of chicken and one slither of pork and was otherwise just soggy batter and beansprouts. The only things that were alright were the sweet and sour chicken balls and the prawn crackers. Absolute waste of money.

As Chinese takeaways go this is one of the best in Cardiff. A bit dated inside but the food always seems to hit the spot. If you order chips they are handmade unlike the vast majority of takeaways in the area. I hope Lee’s stay open for many years to come.

Good tasting food and will alter a meal example not put spice like garlic in the meal if you do not like it as long as you ask also quick delivery

Szechuan pork was awful it was fishy maybe a mistake but bad very bad taste I've had this dish on many occasions from lots of places but it's never been fish flavour

Best Chinese food I've found in Cardiff in 2 years! Won't use anyone else now. Delivery fee is a bit pricey but the quality of the food is so superior to any other takeaway I've had since living here, that I'm willing to pay it.

Have used Lee's many times over the past few years, always found them to be tasty with good food that doesn't break the bank and with timely delivery, sometimes early. Great crispy shredded beef and excellent prawn toast.

Egg fried rice was brown chow mein had no beansprouts in it so was basically noodles chicken balls were tiny and chips were cold not worth £20 at all i reccomend heath kichen as it is nicer comes with more and is cheaper so worth the money

First time ordering a meal from this take way due to a leaflet posted through our door. It was very greasy and every dish tasted the same - the whole take way amounted to nearly £ 30 so not impressed and will not order again.

Ordered here a few times and gets worse and worse. Chow mein had more bean sprouts onions, veg than chow and left over noodles. Chicken balls were DEFINITELY NOT chicken. Red and grey meat pretty sure was pork.(wish I could share photo) Waited over an hour and 20 mins for delivery. Won't order from here again.

Great food but it was delivered 50 mins late.

first time ever that I've had a late delivery, am guessing it's just a one off but the food was a little on the cold side when it arrived 😕 sure it's just a bad night as normally excellent service and usually delivered well before time.

The food is great at this Chinese takeaway. I ordered for asap and your given an estimated time of delivery, which for me is important due to an anxiety order, however the restaurant deliver 45 mins before this time. For most I'm sure that's not bad thing though! I'd definitely recommend this place.

After we ordered an automatic 20 minutes was added on and then 10 minutes later than estimated but, food was excellent. One of the best Chinese deliveries we've had. Will order again.
