Sambuca Windmill in Hartlepool

Visited for my sons 18th birthday and the food and service was excellent.

Amazing food. Its officially our favourite place to eat.

We arrived with no welcome at all, not told us how to get in to room just through that door. Walked in what is supposed to have been the honey moon suite, not what we would call and would hate to think what the other rooms looked like, arrived at 3.55pm today and left and home 4 30 same day. Never stay and certainly would never recommend to anyone else

We were drawn in by the reels and tiktok videos so made the hours drive expecting some amazing food and in reality it was average at best parmo was dry and overcooked and chips where like rocks and steak was poor at over £30 alone so pretty expensive for what it is. People are served very quickly and are in and out like a conveyor belt so not a relaxing meal. 2☆

Booked for a romantic meal or I thought so on Feb 14th 2025. Granted nice to see pubs/restaurants busy however from the moment we arrived we felt we were under pressure to order drinks/food, we ordered the food it can out quicker than macdonalds my steak should of be rested it was still bleeding on the plate. The waiters were actually running between tables to get them set for the next couple, we were cold with the draft off waiting staff rushing up & down 1 waitress was constantly walking past our table as if to hurry us up. We had drinks & a meal in 34 minutes not a pleasant experience & the food was just rushed. Won't be returning in a hurry not like the staff

Amazing restaurant great staff food is very reasonably priced I had the sambuca spicy smash burger could not get a better burger for this cost at any other restaurant got to be one of the best restaurants in the northeast highly recommended

Dont make the mistake I did if looking for a hotel! Most of the positive reviews relate to the restaurant. The hotel is like a 1970s porn stage. Dated, uncomfortable, strange smell, noisy with the road, TV channels don't receive signal, poor WiFi, tired, generally dirty. Was eventually checked in as all the staff were in the very noisy restaurant - staff were friendly. It seems the concentration is the restaurant, the hotel is just something that is forgotten. Restaurant looked very very busy, so I guess that is good, but it was too noisy for me so didn't try it.

Went on a busy Friday and still could get a table within 5 minutes of arriving. Good food and good service, our 2nd drink got lost in the chaos of the night but that's a given how busy they were. Otherwise excellent 👍

Still as good as ever be prepared to wait for a table at times especially on a Sunday always friendly always good food

A very busy Sunday carvery Quick service even though we had to que for food. The food was below average for any carvery The Yorkshire puddings were cold not even a little warm as were brought to the service area in a plastic box. The vegetables other than the carrots were rock hard and we couldn't cut them with the knives. Roadt potatoes were very dry and the mash potatoes was just soggy funny coloured dollop. Mas produced food with very little flavour.

Great food, lovely staff, great portions, gave us tubs to take home uneaten food & gave us free garlic beast and chips :) 10/10 for overall service, highly recommend

Had lunch here today and was lovely. Great service and very friendly service. The outside from the road does not do this place justice as it's lovely inside the restaurant.

We came on sunday to grab a nice lunch, and found that theres no other food options besides the sunday roast on a sunday, so if you dont like sunday roast, dont go in on a sunday. Theres no vegan alternatives for the sunday roast. They just give you veggies. The veggies were very undercooked, and the carrots were practically raw it was crunching. Parsnips weren't available in the roast, quite a minimum spread of options. The staff behind the roast counter would pour the gravy for you instead of letting you pour yourself. And they dont have spicy sauce available besides spicy mayo or sweet chilli. I would not come here again for a roast. The staff were very nice and helpful. However, whoever was the manager that day was very rude and dismissive, creating a negative experience overall. I hope he wasn't that way to his staff and other customers. Not student friendly, has no signal/wifi available, overall would not come again.

Food was terrible. It was Sunday dinner but everything was completely cold and tasteless.

After waiting 35 minutes for a shared platter £74 ...16 other people who came in after us got their food before us. Food lukewarm & greasy. Offered for the meal to be taken back or half price..we opted half price as couldn't wait again & they had taken the platter off the menu as it took too long to cook??? 3 items + chips. When the bill arrived they were charging £40 not half price. Terrible service & never again 😒

It's difficult to have a group dinner...

Not good at all, maybe I was just unfortunate but this should not be coming out of a professional kitchen, complete lack of quality control and more a case of getting the food out. Was only charged for my drink but don’t think I’ll be giving here a second chance.

Located just off the A19 this place is a drive for anyone visiting on the plus side the food is fabulous especially the Parmo’s🍽️ The staff are attentive and the prices are reasonable. Well worth a visit.

Would massively recommend food was absolutely beautiful drinks amazing and staff were so welcoming I have been trying to find a nice place to eat and I will definitely be a regular here so happy with my service tonight everyone well done outstanding 🌟

Could not fault anything. Staff were very friendly, service was great, large car park so easy to park. Food was absolutely spot on. Will be going regular from now on I hope :-)

First time here, we both opted for the 3 course special which runs Monday to Thursday. This included fillet steaks for mains for £29,95, absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked, quick, friendly service but we couldn't finish our desserts as we were stuffed. Can't wait to go back and try the parmos as they looked amazing too. 😍

Visited here for a colleagues leaving tea. Surroundings are are a bit rough. Food tasted nice but unfortunately had tummy ache that night & next day.

Came for a family meal. Nice big car park and free. 6 of us. Hadn't booked but got seated straight away. Inside was nice, clean, spacious. Staff were friendly. Ordered 4 pepsi, 1 water and a cordial. They came quickly. It was busy so I expected a wait but was spot on. Lots of choice on the menu. Ordered 2 kids meals pasta and a pizza, then the 2 lunch offer of pizza, potato skins and ice-cream which were £9 each which was good value for money. We then had a parmo, pasta roma and some chips and a belly pork starter. The food was quick, hot, presented well. The pizzas were huge. For been kids meals and lunch deals the portion sizes were fab and for that reason we would come back. Didn't order dessert other than the ice-cream that came with the set meals and we were too full for anything. Only complaint about food would be the ice-cream it was in a little cup but it was very hard. A good experience and we will definitely be visiting again

Can't comment on rooms as didn't stay. We had Sunday lunch this time and it was superb, plenty of it. The staff are welcoming and efficient and polite. I cannot fault this place.

Really nice meal, visited on a Saturday and got a daytime deal at lunch time, 3 courses for £8.95. Ordered potato skins, carbonara for one meal and pepperoni pizza with potatoes skins for my partner. Ice cream for pudding. Good value for money, all fresh hot and tasty. Recommended 👍

Been twice now just for a meal. Absolutely lovely food. You can see them cooking it and it was quick service. The staff can't do enough for the customers. Prices are good too. Would highly recommend.

Had great dinner and really good server named ruby. Food was delicious and cocktails were too but if you want two for £12 who have to have same cocktail doesn't state on drinks menu otherwise 10 out of 10

Excellent staff very friendly, it was my husband's birthday and they gave him a complimentary sweet & drink.

Hot water ✅ kettle ✅ shower power ✅ even thou the head isn't even attached properly. Pillows ❌ WiFi ❌ not in the rooms you don't.

Still no vegan menu available or any VE option on their new menu. If one person In a family is Vegan and they don’t have a vegan option available then the whole party will not visit, It’s 2024 and this place needs to get with the times.

Wonderful place to stop and eat when travelling south. Ample parking. Food excellent and inexpensive. Staff very friendly.

Excellent, food is spot on staff and service are excellent a must Place to go for food plenty to choose from. Eat inside or outside kids welcome ideal for family's or just to dine your partner.

Went for a date night to try the big sharing platter, the prawns and lobster were slightly over done and chewy, one of the steaks were perfect (medium rare) the other a little under done, staff were lovely and the manager gave us top serive when he found we weren't happy with all the food, nice vibes inside the restaurant, located on the a19 but when inside on an evening you couldn't tell

Very busy Saturday however well seated and ordered quickly. Attentive drinks and starters. Starters were lovely and tasty and well portioned. However very long wait for main and had to be asked for. When arrived one was incorrect. Very efficient alternative offered and extra service was provided. We would like to come back when it's not so busy and stressful for staff as the dishes we had were brilliant. Great management on the night .

This restaurant has the best food I have ever tasted!

Really, really bad for people with allergies and people that are sensitive to loud music (in this case extremely loud). Didn't serve certain things 'just incase' and server had no idea what was in one of the starters as they ordered in from outside the restaurant- that's alarming. No allergy menu. Really really poor. Forgot our drinks. No apology. It's a shame as the food itself was absolutely beautiful but the service was rubbish.

Usually, I have sunday lunch here with the family cant fault it. Service is incredibally fast. The garlic butter was a bit to set for my liking but i usually get this in hartlepool sambuca and its amazing. They gave me a new plate to transfer the amazing chicken too which was really helpful. We love eating here. My friend loved the place and her burger amd will be bringing her family as we cant recommend enough

We came yesterday for my mother in laws birthday meal couldn’t thank the staff for being so kind and welcoming and accommodating moving us to bigger table for us all! The food was phenomenal and cocktails were so nice thank you for great night!!!

Portion sizes were great...food was nice and the service from the young lass with dark hair and glasses was excellent...we will definitely visit again

Lovely food at a very reasonable pric3 for 2. Staff can't do enough for you and the portion sizes are more than enough... highly recommended a sweet treat to end your meal too

Came for a meal with my partner and we both enjoyed every part of it. We had starters and main course and it was all spot on. Portion sizes are great and even tho I couldn’t finish my main I really pushed it as far as I could as it was so nice to let waste. All round great experience and atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone.
