We were recommended this restaurant for its food quality but was very disappointed to say the least. Entering was dark and uninviting and was dirty. It smelled awful. The restaurant was nothing like the picture shown on the website. The walls were a light brick effect made of cardboard that were loose and hanging off. The chair backs were also cardboard painted white. It looked cheap and nasty. The prawn toast were greasy along with the other starters. The rice looked like, and tasted like it was 3 days old, starchy and nasty looking. The only good point was the waiter, whom was the only person serving, he was very polite and welcoming but the atmosphere and quality of the food was shocking. NEVER AGAIN

We were so looking forward to this but it was dreadful. We arrived at 6.10pm but weren't served our mains until 8.05pm. We went for the special starters and everything was deep fried and covered with batter, even the smoked chicken. I pointed out that the menu didn't mention this. The beef in the mains was chewy. The singapore noodles were gloopy and stuck together, horrible. The one ray of sunshine was the waiter, he worked so hard and was brilliant at his job. This is why I have given 2 stars and not one. We went for the 'all u can eat' so maybe if people didn't go for this option it might have been better.

Absolutely excellent food and service. I went with my husband and son yesterday after they told me how brilliant the food is. They went when I was away so I missed out. I’m not going to miss out again. Brilliant! I would highly recommend.

Return visit after previous bookings with lovely food and service. Alas not this time. Seated in a corner beside the toilet and a filthy radiator underneath a foil covered ceiling with ‘crispy’ napkins should have been sufficient to tell us to leave but given previous fab experiences we ignored our gut instincts, were served flat fizzy drinks and charged more than £20 for the privilege despite pointing out that they were flat. Food, no complaints about the dishes, in fact the complete opposite, tasty, hot, small portions but as a buffet restaurant little and often is perfect. Service…. The extremely overly efficient waiter made it clear from the onset that we had to ‘eat all!’ We ordered mixed starters, left a spring roll, a dumpling, a pork roll on the plate and ordered more starters. They arrived but it was made clear, repeatedly throughout the evening that we ‘eat all!’ The 3 items left had to be put onto the plate of the next course to ensure that we did ‘eat all!’ No crispy beef available on either the buffet or the main menu. 3 of us ordered buffet, 1 preferred dishes on main though it was made clear if 1 ordered buffet we all had to have buffet! No desert option either. Definitely will not be returning and should have left immediately that we pointed out that the drinks were flat and head to our normal go to, the fab Mr Wings! Lesson learnt…. Sad too given the many previous fab visits that we’ve had their. £21.90 per head to be held prisoner to the food on our plates…. It was not a pleasure or a privilege but most certainly an evening to remember for all the wrong reasons. If your looking for a friendly family run buffet restaurant I strongly suggest that you go elsewhere.

My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary in Felixstowe by visiting this restaurant last night for the first time. We opted for the ‘all you can eat’ offer which was a good move! Everything was piping hot and mains plates were delivered heated - which is not always the case. A good selection of starters, followed by duck preceded the mains. We didn’t order seconds of anything as our appetites were fully met by what was served - but more was offered by the very friendly and helpful waiter at each stage. He must be very busy when the restaurant is full! We would certainly recommend and will be back before our second anniversary.

Really enjoyed our meal, really tasty food. Waiter was so lovely too, was pouring with rain when we were going to leave and he was even concerned about us getting wet. Will definitely eat here again.

We had a vegetarian meal here and it was quite spicy so much so it didn't agree with me the next day and I spent alot of the day in the bathroom my partner was okay though, the waiter was friendly and helpful and explained the menu to us.

We went to Sam Moi for lunch with our teenage grandson as a birthday treat. We had the banquet. Everything was lovely, piping hot and very tasty. We had a selection of starters, the Peking duck wraps and then the main courses; fried chicken sweet and sour, fried pork king po, green thai curry, special fried rice, a vegetarian dish and 2 noodle dishes. All served by a friendly waiter who couldn’t do enough for us. We were stuffed full but could have ordered more as part of the banquet ’deal’ had we wanted. We would highly recommend this venue.

This is actually the only eat in Chinese restaurant in Felixstowe, but when it is as good as this one, you don’t really need another one. We have visited Sam Moi many time over the past few years, and we always love the food there. We nearly always go for the all you can eat menu not because we are “all you can eat” sort of people, but because they bring out the freshly prepared food in small plates meaning that with just 2 of us, we can have a sizeable selection of taste sensations, a bit like a Chinese tapas. For us it is an evening out rather than just a meal out. The decor is a little rustic, but with it’s own charm. The food is always excellent, the wine is good and not too expensive, and Vincent the front of house Maître d’ is such a character that he deserves his own trip advisor page. Nothing is too much trouble and he has an excellent memory of what we have ordered and crucially what food we have said we have liked on previous occasions.

I looked this restaurant up and saw lovely reviews. I must say great place, staff are lovely and food was gorgeous. We had the all you can eat menu. Starters were very nice and duck as you expect. We chose some different dishes than we would normally as our mains and everything was tasty and well presented.. we will definitely be back for more. We actually loved the music playing in the background .

Extremely small portions on very small plates, the place was dark, dirty and did not smell too fresh, and were were only given one menu.

It was the highest rated Chinese restaurant in Felixstowe and we needed a takeaway as one of our party is less mobile at present. The crispy duck was excellent and the sweet and sour pork was nearly perfect. It was how we were welcomed that was so lovely though. Difficult to put a finger on it - 'nothing too much trouble' is certainly part of it - but there is a lot more too it than that. Anyway I would recommend it on all counts. One thing to add - the menu is only available through Google maps and I would say 'Get your menu on the Facebook page!' which is linked to from Trip Advisor - I would hate you to lose any custom by not having the information out there as you don't deserve to.

Came here Saturday with hubby .never been before but will definitely use again Had the all you can eat menu the food is lovely hot and fresh. The mixed starter was great had to have more chicken satay has it was too nice . The middle course crispy duck was perfect. Main course eaten sweet and sour prawn all over the world but these where the best ever and beef and mushroom was lovely.fried chicken in plum sauce was mouth watering.noodles where perfect as was the egg fried rice. Utter chance visit due to the sea front steak house being fully booked. The food in this place is without doubt the FINEST Far Eastern cuisine I have EVER tasted! May not have been fast, maybe a refresh on the decor…none of which count a jot when taken in the context of the amazing flavours and great service.
