Went here for our 8th wedding anniversary after a dip in Cullercoats Bay. Great location over looking the bay and very friendly atmosphere. The food was fantastic - all very fresh. We had the padron peppers, flat iron, crab fried and greek salad. All very tasty. We also had two margaritas which were much better than expected! Both were great. Service brilliant also. Friendly, good knowledge of the menu, good recommendations and not over the top. Have already recommended to family and looking forward to going back on a sunny day with the windows open!

Lovely setting but drinks took 30 minutes. If we hadn’t paid, we would have left.

Great find on short visit to Tynemouth/Cullercoats. Friendly service that explained food options/dish size accurately. We had two delicious creative salads and a few tapas. . As well as a number of outside tables, it was a bonus on a chilly evening that it's got some dog friendly tables inside- good to call to book in advance. If possible recommend a high bar table - a lovely sea views!

This place has the best tapas! Great variety and everything tasted incredible. Will definitely be back.

Enjoyed my food here but my partner wasn't too keen, think he's just not suited to tapas. Really enjoyed the pork chorizo shish! Service was friendly and fast.

Amazingly delicious sunday roast, the flavours were outstanding, garlic and herb roasted potatoes, beautifully cooked vegetables, onion infused gravy, massive Yorkshire puds, really tender pork loin with crackling, rare beef or chicken!! You'll be hard pushed to find a better sunday roast!

Called in quite by accident as it was pouring down… so glad we did as the food was amazing. Although the restaurant being quiet (no surprise in a wet Tuesday afternoon) the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and the service was lovely. Our visit here more than made up for the rubbish weather.

Best brunch on the coast by a mile - and we eat a lot of brunch! Genuinely can’t rate it highly enough. Eggs cooked to perfection, sourdough bread absolutely gorgeous, avocado fresh and delicious. The hash browns were crispy and not greasy at all. It’s the attention to detail and flavour that sets a new bar for brunch on the coast - light and creamy feta, the spiced ketchup, Manchego cheese and seasoned to perfection. Not to mention the service, as always first class. And with a view over the bay like no other. ♥️🙌🏻✨

Went for Sunday lunch today. Took 30 mins to get our food. Food was good quality but portions were meagre and expensive for what you got. Wine is very expensive. I’ve never had a Sunday lunch whereby I was still hungry afterwards.

We know our food and can say this is one of the best places to eat around. Tapas is super authentic. Brunch is excellent. Sunday lunch is outstanding. Love the service, always friendly and personal. Great for good wines and well made cocktails, especially the margaritas. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

The food is really good, pleasant surprise as we tried it by chance... Reasonably priced and had a nice casual buzzy vibe about the place. Have been back a couple of times and has been consistently good.

Great Sunday Roast Cocktails are very good

Had the most delicious Sunday lunch at the Salt House today. Our table had both the Vegan and Chicken options. Both the main courses and deserts were perfection! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing views.

Great location. Lovely views. We went for a work meal for tapas. The food was good although I personally always feel that tapas is overpriced for what you get, which was the case here (although not unique to salthouse). I think the atmosphere could be improved in the evening by dimming the lights a bit. We did feel a little rushed out at the end, although I didn't think it was too late. The bill had been left on our table before we asked for it.

Great location overlooking Cullercoats Bay, great atmosphere with friendly staff. The tapas menu & the beer selection gives a Spanish feel & the food we had on the Friday that we arrived was so good that we decided to go back for Sunday lunch - really good food. Will definitely go back if we visit the beautiful north east cost again.

Walked in on a Sunday on a whim, hoping it would take us for Sunday dinner without a booking, was really busy inside, friendly staff helped sort us a table, and the food we ordered off the Sunday lunch menu was amazing, 2 roast beefs and 1 roast pork and all party members said it was amazing. Definitely worth visiting for a roast dinner.

We were looking forward to some nice tapas, but unfortunately that was not our experience. The service was good, but the food lacked flavour and for the prices being charged (what you would expect for decent tapas) the food was a disappointment. The king prawns in garlic and chilli didn't taste of anything and were just oily, the battered aubergine was also tasteless and oily. We had alot of dishes, including a traditional meat platter for 2 - the iberico ham was tucked away at the bottom and was at least 80% fat and the sliced choritzo and another one of the cold meats looked like they came from a packet. There was a 3rd meat, which had been hand carved. The choritzo in wine and honey and the aged oak manchago were v nice. We had a couple of mojitos, couldn't taste any rum, mint, lime or sugar. Overall, it felt like we had paid for a nice meal, but didn't receive one.

Great tapas felt like we were in Barcelona!

Delicious meal with great service. Three of us enjoyed 6 different tapas, all good sized portions, fresh and tasty. Cocktails were fab too.

Food is excellent, cocktails are a must and you can't ask for better staff! Total emphasis on how awesome the staff are!

Everything about our meal was great, but you could tell the wait staff we're very stretched on what anyone could tell you was going to be a very busy night, we felt bad for them. The staff should've had more cover.

Popped in for a pint. Nice venue, good staff but abysmal music playing in the background, the most insipid biege cover versions being played over and over. Thank god there were seats outside.

Unreal atmosphere, phenomenal food and top class service. Don’t think it’s possible to eat everything on the menu but we tried. Loved every bite. The server was very attentive and never had to wait long for another round of drinks. Pretty sure whoever has posted a poor review has either shocking taste or weren’t hugged enough as children. Either way I’m right they’re wrong. Go for the food stay for the drinks and the dogs as it’s incredibly pooch friendly.

The Salthouse will always be our go-to at the coast! The food is always delicious, presented beautifully and amazing value for money. The menu regularly changes to reflect the seasonal ingredients they use. The atmosphere is always so friendly and the staff are fantastic, particularly Georgia, who always goes above and beyond. The best Sunday Dinner at the coast, killer cocktails (the Mark-arita a personal fave) and a consistently brilliant tapas menus. Bravo!

Food was terrible. Music was ghastly. Service equally as bad, just slow. How do you mess chicken wings up? The same sauce on everything whether you get chilli or bravas. No kids menu either. Meatballs bland, wings inedible, cocktail poor, wine like vinegar. Came here 10 years ago was just as bad then.

We had a really tasty roast dinner here, very tasty and with a good vegetarian option too. Great ambience for a lovely Sunday lunch. Amazing views and service too.

Waited 40 minutes to get served dinner came with a large portion of carbon supposed to be a Yorkshire pud Food average sorry won’t be back.

Nice place but unfortunately quality has declined over the months. First the margaritas went down hill and now what were once divine spicy chicken wings have deteriorated into flavourless and spice-less wings, a shame. I’m implore the return of the quality that once was…

4 of us had a lovely lunch in here the only downside was they had run out of chicken wings when 2 of our party wanted to try them

Great place to meet up with friends

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit this evening. We didn't book for a table of 3 and by the looks of how busy it was we got lucky that they had a table available. There was a little wait which was obvious when we arrived and saw how full the restaurant was so we ordered olives and bread with aioli to come as a starter. The bread was lush and the nocellara olives were wonderful. We ordered 2 dishes each and to be honest we probably should have ordered 3 each. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. My personal favourites were the chorizo in cider and the calimari. Definitely worth a visit, definitely worth picking one of everything that takes your fancy.

We came here on Sat night just gone after a friend recommended it, after having a dreadful breakfast, the only way was up right. We were not disappointed, the food was so good, we finished everything, We had six dishes between us, the Manchego with honey, prawns, croquettas, white bait, and aubergine tempura type thing, washed down with some very tasty Marguerites. Staff really friendly and happy to look after us, checked in to see if all was ok and were on hand if we needed anything, really liked the decor, cosy and friendly atmosphere, will defo come back of I am in the area again and would recommend it.

All great apart from waitress who was reluctant to speak! Overlooks Cullercoats beach so view from our outdoor table was lovely.
