Had breakfast here two mornings running whilst on holiday. I had a vegan breakfast, not that I'm vegan. It was very enjoyable and plenty. The other breakfast I had was the Scottish breakfast. All good, came out nice and hot. No long wait for service.

Food is very good for what you pay. Excellent presentation. Staff are very helpful. But bar staff needs training to pour pints sometimes we get 34 of a pint most days .really should be training for the bar staff. We have been drinking in the salt cot for years we have always complained for years but still no change. After approximately 10 years. 3/4 pints and no flakes

I have being coming here for years with my family for lunch/dinner and always enjoy a great meal. The service is quick. I would recommend the salad, it's as fresh as a daisy! The only downside is the mess of the tables at times. Staff need to be quicker at cleaning away plates and glasses for the next people sitting down. Nobody wants to go for a meal and sit for 10/15 mins with a table full of dishes. Worth a visit when in sunny Saltcoats!

This restaurant is fantastic for breakfast normally at that time in the morning it’s clean and tidy (ish) come the afternoon or dinner and everything is everywhere and just a mess! The food other than the breakfast 9/10 times isn’t right or over or under cooked I personally just come for the odd breakfast. The staff on my opinion are rather lazy (walking past tables that badly need cleared and cleaned down numerous times) such a shame as it’s in the heart of Saltcoats town.

Came in this morning for fry up, I normally avoid here even though I’m local because of the mess of the place. Today wasn’t much different you can guarantee you’ll have to wipe down your own table before even sitting down it’s always the same! The manger is walking around with his oversized shirt tail hanging out (looks like he’s been dragged to work!) again not what your wanting to see especially from a manager? The breakfast is the ONLY reason I come back from time to time the breakfast is cheap and cheerful and delicious! However the staff let this place down badly!

Ordered two pints of pepsi with our dinner and got two half pints. Brought this up to a member of staff and was told I was wrong, but she would check and she appeared back with 2 pints because it turns out I was correct. I don't know what they had done, but the pepsi had no flavour, just sour bubbles. When I brought this up I she was happy to swap them this time, but the result was the same. I then asked the guy behind the bar to swap for Irn Bru, which was fine, but he gave me 2 cans and when I brought up that I had paid for pints, he said "Well I can't change the size of cans, can I?" Terrible service.

We both visited here on the 5th October, and not for the first time the place itself appears to have had a few alterations done to it, bi folding doors, new exterior lighting, even a paint job on the frontage, interior lighting have been fixed, a new carpet has been installed, plumbing in the toilets fixed, they have even put in a play area with toys and I can only presume that's not for the adults.

We decided to pop in for lunch as the food is usually nice and well priced . We sat down at a table , the place was fairly busy as it was a Saturday , we were looking at the menu when along came the long faced mature waitress she kicked the chair out the road and delivered food to the table next to us , she then came barging back shoving chairs out the way . Two minutes later she came back shoved the chair again and elbowed my daughter in the back . Enough is enough , no one needs to put up with bad service it’s not our fault she was working after all it’s the customer who pays the wages . We left .

As the best chefs in the world will testify if you want to know if someone learned the basics properly at a culinary School ask for a egg. A Escoffier would have been proud of the Gammon steak and fried egg I had Wednesday evening (13th July) and it only cost me ten quid (including a pint). 20 years, 10's of thousands of miles traveling around the globe and the best properly basted fried egg I get served in all that time is in Saltcoats Wetherspoons, who would have bloody figured lol. thought we would go Viennese in sunny saltcoats today and took up the offer of coffee and cake at the saltcot. Actually you could have had an adults and kids meal by the time we got to the final price and the cake wasn't all that. The lavazza coffee at Witherspoons in generally good (I'm a coffee lover) so no complaints there. Coffee and cake was more expensive than advertised despite a me asking the server (who obviously wasn't listening) if the offer was for a small or large coffee... And well as my child isn't old enough yet for coffee she had Pepsi. No offers for cake for the little people so we shared the measly slice we got. In total it was almost six pounds. We've had a Sunday lunch with a kids bowl of fries, pint of ale and a little Pepsi included for much the same price. Not a bargain at all considering there are lots of other little Italian cafes nearby. We will go elsewhere for a mid morning coffee next time. Wasn't impressed at all. Also no kids drawing materials left. :-(

Saltcoats is a lovely little town to visit if you like the outdoors. There are old railway lines that have been turned into paths to walk along andenjoy the nature in all seasons. There is also a lovely Sandy beach to walk along and pick up shells and enjoy the views over to the isle of Arran and ailsa Craig from. You can visit a few different playparks with the kids and there is also a bowling alley, kids amusement park in the summer and a cinema and indoor soft play to visit. Most of these are reasonably priced. The ferry to Arran is just a few minutes away in the town of ardrossan and you can catch the train to Glasgow and large from the train station in the centre of town. Prestwick airport and Glasgow airport are also linked directly to the town by bus and by train.

Fair enough if you need to have food but absolute joke as meant we couldn't have a drink whilst perusing the menu. Difficult enough to get large party settled and organised but bar staff absolutely refused to take common sense approach and serve drinks in advance of food order. It wasn't even all alcohol as included teas and soft drinks for majority. Result, our party split up and family with kids left to go somewhere more child friendly. You don't go to a Wetherspoons for haute cuisine but you at least expect tasty food at good prices and good service. J.D. Wetherspoons in Saltcoats provides none of these things. After standing for ages at bar amongst crowds of drinkers I was told (after paying) that one of the items ordered wasn't available. After waiting for several more minutes the barmaid announced that they had no orange juice available. After a lengthy wait at our grubby table, wedged behind a woman who kept dunting me in the back and a screaming baby the order arrived with one dish missing. We were informed we hadn't ordered or paid for it. Luckily I had the receipt handy to prove them wrong. Food was exceptionally poor. Hotdogs were the cheap variety that tasted vaguely of fish, the macaroni and cheese was a bland, undercooked microwave affair. The fish and chips ordered in place of the elusive lasagne was alright. The highlight of the day was being propositioned by a drunk at the door on the way in.

I have rated as average because I have visited here three times and found the experience to be different with each visit. The first time, a few years ago, we didn't stay to eat because the tables were littered with empty glasses and plates. We tried another visit a year or so ago and it was excellent. The tables were clean, the food was delicious and the staff were helpful. Visited again this year but it took a while to get served and the food was not hot. This was rectified without any fuss which is a plus point for the management. Consistency in service and quality and temperature of food would be good.

I asked the bar staf to give our table a clean but after 20 mins I went to the glass collection point and got a cloth to clean it myself. This is an issue in most of the Wetherspoons pubs we have visited. Time to buck up Wetherspoons!!!

We have visited Saltcoats on a few occassions and have found the people friendly and very welcoming. The town does suffer from council neglect and does need more investment in what was a great seaside resort. Pubs and clubs abound and make visitors very welcome. Will be back soon.

Theres not much to see in saltcoats town centre it is very run down with lots of shops closed. The beach is disgusting with lots of rubbish and debris ,it would be a health hazard to go near it. I wouldnt hurry back.

Just had a plate of the gnocchi. I was kind of expecting the usual plate of rib sticking mush but instead I was dished up a beautifully created plate of flavours. Very impressive. Each mouthful gave a surprising wee nugget of something different. Perfectly cooked, a myriad of texture and the perfect portion size served on sparklingly clean crockery and served up by an enthusiastic and happy lass with red hair. A crisp pint of cider was an unintentionally perfect pairing. First class stuff. Thank you.
