We went to salt & pepper today for the 1st time today...I had the nicest cavery for a long time! My partners steak was also making my mouth water...he loved it. Staff very busy but welcoming amd looked after us well.Will definitely be going back for more....Thanks guy’s.

Once again we have returned to our favourite restaurant whilst visiting our holiday home.Food was as always was amazing, I had mussels for starters, followed by sirloin steak, medium rare, which was cooked to perfection, my partner had the same.Zoe, the Manager made us very welcome, we were disappointed to miss the owner, but hope to catch up with him in the week.

Visited after reading the good reviews , visited early evening as a group of 4 . Ordered pizza which was burnt at the bottom and 2 steak dinners both of which were full of fat and gristle , any good chef would not have sent these steaks out . Our check back was done very early , no wonder ! This place is no steakhouse ! Lots of better restaurants in the harbour area to visit . Restaurant is also not as clean as it could be .

Saw all the reviews so book a table for myself and my partner , he had the steak, which did not disappoint, myself has the salt and pepper chicken. It was so tasty and not dry. Also, very impressed with the portion of the food.Staff were really friendly and polite , great service. Definitely will be back. Very impressed.

Not thinking and not booking decided to walk around Torquay to get into a restaurant. After 5 attempts we went into Salt & Peeper. Fully booked but said it was our anniversary they found a table. So pleased they did, great service, quick, polite and within no time starters were here. A nice gap between the main and the belly pork in BBQ turns up. Fantastic meal, then had to force down a desert. Great team especially the lady that squeezed us in thank you.

When we walked into S&P, I really didn’t expect much - it was early evening (not many other customers yet), and the decor made me think that we were in for an average meal at best. I was certainly wrong. The service was swift and friendly, the food was delicious and once a couple more people had sat down the atmosphere was fine. Can’t say why I had initial not-great impressions. Think it was the decor... I’m certainly glad I didn’t judge the book by its cover and stayed to enjoy the evening!

Hugely impressed yet again with our food, we come on holiday every year to Devon, and every year since salt and pepper opened by the harbour in 2017 we have come to salt and pepper ! We keep coming back because it’s just that good ! Highly recommend and will be back again without doubt next year! Also Tony is the guy & Finally the Salt and pepper chicken is amazing!!

Pre-booked prior to travel based on reviews on here. Staff were welcoming and we were sat all together (7 people). Wasn't busy even though it was on an eat out to help out night. Some of us were disappointed with our meals. 2 of the steaks were quite gristly and fatty with one being undercooked and sent back, the caesar salad was swimming in sauce and no croutons. Disappointing and wouldn't return

We booked for a Friday in August for lunch and we are glad we did.Really friendly service and the food was better than expectations - which were already high based on trip advisor! I have walked past this restaurant dozens of times and never really paid attention to it. The inside is quite dimly lit and the entranceway doesn't scream curbside appeal - which makes it even more of a hidden gem. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting torbay, but also to us locals - i know I'll be returning.

My family of 7 arrived late in Torquay and struggled to find somewhere to eat. Stumbled across Salt & Pepper and we were all very pleased we did. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Busy place but they adhered to covid guidelines. Every meal was well presented, good size meals that were delicious. Staff were attentive to customers and after a 4 hour drive, this restaurant was the perfect end to our first day in Torquay. Im a fussy diner but can honestly say I couldn't find a fault. Children's meals ranged from chicken nuggets and sausages. Adults ranged from salt & pepper prawns, steak and chicken... Yummy desserts! Everyone was very happy with their choices. This will definitely be our go to place during the rest of our stay. Good job S&P team!

this restaurant was wonderful, the staff are attentive and friendly, we had a large family celebration and they made us all feel special. the food was truly delicious and not a morsel was left. they catered for our young children too. all in all we cannot fault this place. it was a great evening and we are definitly going again and highly reccommmend it.

Thus was our favourite meal of our entire stay will definitely come back here. All I would say is needed 1 more waiter/waitress as it was very busy

Can't recommend this restaurant enough from the attention we received from the staff to the amazing food prepared by Scott. If your in Torquay don't leave without visiting salt and pepper. It's worth every penny!! P. S try the Seabass it's to die for.

Well what can I say, we turned up at 7.30pm after being recommended to come here from locals, with no table booked, the restaurant was extremely busy and I wasn’t hopeful that we would get a table, but the amazing staff tried their very best to get us in, and within half an hour we had a great table. The atmosphere was brilliant, the staff were fantastic, especially with my 3 year old little boy who insisted on telling the lady waitresses that he loved them, and as for the food, it was absolutely amazing the best steak we have ever had, it literally melted in your mouth. The menu has lots of options at a great price, greats drinks menu and the services was very quick. My husband, my 2 children, and myself left feeling very full up, and very happy. Nothing I can fault. Was perfect. Highly recommend.

Rocked up at 5:45 with no booking and manager said come back in 45 mins for table. In the current climate & because it was a Monday in August ( eat out to help out) I actually didn’t expect to get a table with 6 in the party but he squeezed us in. Glad he did; Mussels were lovely. Staff were fab. Unfortunately can’t remember the names of the two that served us but credit to restaurant. Server was great with 2 kids in the party and even went away and gave us a drink that wasn’t on the menu. Staff were friendly and instantly made us all feel very welcome. We had a variety of dishes, one of my party is very picky and not easily impressed but even he went away satisfied. A very nice dining experience....... we’ll be back

With restrictions as they are we struggled to book a table anywhere in Torquay Saturday evening. This fab restaurant managed to squeeze us in and we had the most amazing eating experience. Seafood special and the bbq belly pork were both excellent. Would highly recommend. Good drinks selection too. We didn't have room for dessert! Great staff made our anniversary dinner a lovely one!

We come to Torquay a few times a year and we were looking for something to hae for lunch when we happened across this place and decided to take a gamble.OMG what a find!! So pleased to have found it!Food was excellent - I’m a massive steak fan and my goodness I was NOT disappointed! Beautifully cooked and the sauce was incredible, the waitress (Zoe) was exceptional snd greeted us so enthusiastically which was lovely, she couldn’t have been more pleasant if she burst and was amazing with my little boy who is a total flirt at 4yrs old!Ok yes it is a little pricey but you won’t be disappointed! We’re absolutely coming back without question and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them

As a party of 9 adults and 4 children, including 2 in wheelchairs and 1 pram we were finding it very difficult to find a place to eat in Torquay until we found this restaurant, the staff were so helpful and friendly getting us tables and helping to get my elderly parents in, and the food was hot tasty and excellent value, it was so nice we returned again a couple of days later and again they found us a table at very late notice in their private dining room and once again the service and food were excellent, especially the steaks! this was our last night in Torquay but I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, and if we return to Torquay we will definitely be calling there to eat!

Well hubby surprised me with a meal here, it was lovely from start to finish, from staff, service, food, cleanliness, everything.

Definitely one of the better restaurants in Torquay, food and service was great. Recommend the salt and pepper chicken and the salt and pepper prawns.

Visited on the 14th Aug 2020 for our anniversary the staff are friendly and accommodating food was awesome we had pizza this time what can I say they were delicious I've had steak which was great.. one of the best restaurants in the bay in my opinion owner is a really nice guy will use it again thanks salt n pepper for a great evening

Steak was lovely. That's the best comment I could leave. Frozen food wholesalers did very well with everything else. Don't expect to find a wine/ drinks menu letting you know how much you will be charged.. don't expect to find a dessert menu letting you know how much you will be charged either! Don't bother asking for mustard with your steak, they don't offer it. Friendly, attentive service but little atmosphere.

We are on holiday and chose too eat here a 2nd time, the staff are absolutely amazing, so friendly and welcoming, accommodated a table for 7 last minute, the starters are to die for, I chose the chef special for my main, the T-bone steak, cooked too perfection, Salt and pepper has become my favourite restaurant In Torquay and we will be visiting again on out next holiday

I liked my gluten free kids chicken, chips and beans. Also loved my gluten free brownie for pudding!

We had spend 2.5 hours trying to find a restaurant for ten people during the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ period a week before we were travelling to the area. We had to widen our search area and at last this place could accommodate us. Hooray!We were stuck in traffic and phoned to say we’d be ten minutes late. No problem and advice on where to park was provided. Food was fine, one person in our group ordered a medium rare steak but it was well done and cold. Large portions. Excellent, friendly staff. Good social distancing measures naturally created by the booths in the restaurant. Felt self and welcome.

We ate here last summer and returned this year for another fantastic meal. It was especially good that they catered again for our daughter who needed a gluten free dish. Nothing was too much trouble,would highly recommend.

So on holiday in Brixham and decided to book a table here as the reviews looked so good! Due to current COVID19 restrictions I booked a table as was advised could be so busy. We arrived around 10 minutes early and were promptly told to come back as no tables were ready! There were plenty of tables inside free but with the situation, I took this with a pinch of salt and agreed to come back.Whilst waiting outside a group of people who seemingly knew the waiter who advised us to come back had arrived. They had taken priority over us even though they had said quite loudly that they had not booked. By this time it was 2pm, and I had asked whether our table was ready and said waiter was very rude and told us that because they were a party of 10 that was the reason they had gone before. I asked why this was when we had already had a confirmed booking. He was quite rude and didn't listen to what I was saying. I then asked when our table would be ready and the only answer I was given was that the customers on the table for us were just having their ice cream. The attitude of this waiter was terrible and unacceptable! We decided that this disgusting customer service was not good enough and decided that we would take our custom elsewhere!Thoroughly disappointed as were looking forward to eating here due to the good reviews! Customer service is key and this guy certainly had none.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve been here in fact we’ve booked for next week too.Fab meal and one super happy child able to enjoy a gluten free meal especially made for her and even pudding too which is such a bonus.

We passed Salt & Pepper on arrival into Torquay on Saturday afternoon and luckily they managed to get us a table for five for 6.30pm. The menu was varied and we all ordered different starters and main courses. The staff were attentive and really friendly. The food was really good and a couple of us managed a dessert. Overall we absolutely loved our meal, would definitely go back on our next visit to Torquay Karen and family

I booked this restaurant for us to celebrate my husband's birthday based on previous TripAdvisor reviews and it did not disappoint.We were greeted by a great host and our booth felt very private.The drinks were served prompt and the food was absolutely beautiful Please remember this is not a cheap chain and what you ask for is what you get. Six of us loved everything we ate. If I return to Torquay I will immediately rebook this restaurant. Thank you to the hardworking staff and management of this great restaurant. You made my husband's special birthday.

Best Carvery meat was so nice lots of fresh vegetables and potatoes to die for really good value for the meal , staff very friendly and helpful definitely will make that a regular

The staff were very polite and the food was amazing. I opted for the steak and my wife went for the prawns (white wine sauce). Steak was cooked to perfection. My son had the pork belly and that was divine. Definitely recommended and would go there again!

Having been to Salt & Pepper on numerous occasions, I have to say that the brand new re-fit that has taken place has lifted the place to a different level! Always guaranteed the best Steak & best value Steak anywhere in the area, new additions to the menu offer more variety at a realistic price!On my latest visit I had the pan fried scallops of the specials board, which were delicious and a very generous portion for a starter followed by a superb fillet steak (Prentices Butchers) I believe so guaranteed quality meat, cooked blue, that just melted in my mouth & my wife had just a fillet med/rare total cost with drinks of under £60, amazing value.Service was excellent, attentive but not in your face & after finishing our meal, the owner Tony, asked if we would like to have a look at his new ‘Green Room’ private dinning area, it is fabulous, your own room, your own waiter/waitress & chef to boot, we booked immediately for Christmas as holding 12 people it was perfect for a private celebration, I would recommend anyone interested book up quickly as this is bound to be in demand!!!!Well done Tony & the team keep up the great work!

Booked a table for my daughter’s birthday. We had a table for 10, we had amazing table service, very polite and professional. Food was delicious, came all together considering there was 10 of us. Would highly recommend and will be returning.

Decided to try salt and pepper again after being aloud to travel after COVID I was surprised to see how well the transformation of there appearance and decor was excellentThe new menu looks delicious. I had the steak and it was just as good as it was last year second to none Iv ever had and I’m very fussy. My partner had The salmon and veg and loved it nice to see a good business still holding high standards of food care. As a lot of businesses are now just out for profit with low food and hygiene standards trying to make up what they have lost due to the pandemic. The attitude of the manager was awful he was abrupt, non attentive borderline arrogant!!! Arguing with his head chef in front of customers. We had to ask to place our order also for more drinks waited over an hour for our mains!! When you food finally came it was superb but we would never go back, shocking service!!

Well what can I say. After booking a table we were told to come back in twenty. Which we did then told there would be a wait of 20 30 minutes for food. So after over 1 hour and one waitress asking if had eaten. Really that was the last straw.So the food arrives and the wifes beer battered fish was awful, burger hmmm, belly pork was passable. Service is dreadful take your money and take the P. Give this place a wide berth.

Amazing chips and good veggie options too. Attentive staff even when they were clearly busy. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and location.

Went for dinner with fiance as it was vegan friendly. I had the vegan chilli and she had the curry. They were both so good we decided to have half each. Excellent service service with a smile and great prices. Catered well for all the covid controls. Highly recommend. 5 star.

Walked from the harbour 3 miles inland on the search for a carvery. No joy - gave up and then on the way back from sub-way noticed this place.(Such is life !!) My family and I went for the carvery option and was really impressed. The food was excellent - cooked and seasoned perfectly - icing on the cake was the service and the friendliness of everyone we met. I would highly recommend.

Nice to come back to our favourite restaurant after lockdown, everything in place for social distancing, staff well covered in PPE, Spot on!, newly decorated, looked stunning, as was the food as always, never had a bad meal here. Staff very welcoming, made to feel special. brilliant atmosphere, couldn't ask for more really.Wish you all well for the future must be really hard to get everything just right, seems that you have. Booked for dinner last minute, two teenage daughters and I. Very warm welcome and prompt service. Had the squid to start which was just lovely. All had rib-eye steak for mains and I can honestly say was one of the best steaks I’d had in quite some time. All 3 plates were cleared, peppercorn sauce was lush. Cannot rate it enough. All whilst very aware of social distancing, managed to get it just right. Will definitely be back when next visiting.

Wow what a steak! This is a stunning restaurant, from the moment you step through the door your made to feel welcome by the front of house host. Service incredible and the food was outstanding!! From the steak to the banoffee pie, fresh and tasty would highly recommend everyone popping in to give it a try you will not be disappointed! This family from Teesside will be making the journey again, just for the steak if nothing else!!

Very friendly and clean restaurant. Food is of great quality, especially the steaks, although they do offer a varied menu to suit everyone’s taste. The Sunday Carvery is also great value and spot on. I thoroughly recommend that visitors, or locals, go there to enjoy.

I brought my family in for dinner for a treat after this awful covid 19 to get out. I wasn't disappointed and know why they have amazing ratings for steaks. By far it was the best steak I've had in a long time. Was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely and accomdated for all needs required. It was so good that I returned for a Sunday carvery also last week. Everything was cooked fresh and the gravy was impeccable. Great value for money. I will be returning very soon. Keep up the great work guys. Great atmosphere also

I was absolutely disgusted in the way that the manager chose to speak to his staff in front of customers. There is a way to talk to people, and this was an unacceptable way to speak to someone. I hope he reads this and reflects on his behaviour.

Amazing steak !, I had the t bone and the wife the fillet and I would say the best steaks we ever had ! They were seasoned and cooked to perfection. chips were also very nice and unusual in that they were crispy in a curved shape.

The first time we have been out out since February! The food at Salt and Pepper is amazing ! Cooked to perfection. I had fillet steak , my husband had a T-bone steak , both were cooked how we asked and really tasty. The chips are amazing , an unusual shape , but it made them crispy and fluffy all at the same time. I highly recommend Salt and Pepper . Excellent service . My partner and i had a medium Sunday lunch, which was lovely. Very close to our hotel, right on the sea front. Meal was very tasty, but a little expensive.

Lovely food and great service. The steak was beautifully cooked and the lamb shank was so tender it was falling off the bone. Will definitely come again if in the area.

Read the reviews and thought worth the short walk from Princess Theatre. Welcoming service and lovely meals all timely served. My lamb shank was so well cooked that it fell off the bone. Partner's steak, the taster given, was perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. Next time we are in Torquay, will pop back in.

Came here with the missus based on the reviews. We weren't disappointed. The owner was a lovely chap and really looked after us. It probably sounds weird but I am a bit of a muso and the music and sound system were great, really adding to the atmosphere. The food? Well I had the 8oz rump and it was without doubt the best steak I have had in years, cooked to perfection. For desert i had bread and butter pudding and it was fantastic just like my mumma makes with real home made custard.We will definitely be back next time we are passing. Top stuff, thanks

My husband and visited whilst in Torquay for a few days and so glad we did! Such a friendly welcome and although a quiet night, still a good atmosphere as music played and stagg so chatty. Between us we had the Caesar salad and steak with peppercorn sauce. Salad lovely and best steak and sauce husband's had in ages! Great chips too! Despite being full, we couldn't resist the homemade bread & butter pudding with custard and brownie with ice cream. Definitely worth it as proper comforting, homemade and delicious! Would of course recommend and visit again!!
