I actually only popped in the museum to use the toilet but the smell of the soup in the foyer area was so good I also stopped for a snack. I enjoyed a really nice Leek & Potato soup with a chunk of bread and a pot of tea - all served with a smile by a small group of youngsters. The perfect way to break a 5-mile stroll around Salford and Manchester.

Visit the fab museum as an extra bonus but if not no problem - this place is better than most cafes and coffee shops in the manchester area. Especially good are their vegan and veggie offerings. The staff are very friendly, efficient and responsive.

We booked the cafe for afternoon tea for 20 people to celebrate volunteers week. The cafe staff where friendly, helpful and happy to be working at Salford Museum Cafe. The cafe was spotlessly clean and tidy. The cafe had a relaxing atmosphere and was well laid out. The food was superb especially the cakes and scones, they do a lovely brew! There is plenty car parking but it isn’t free. WiFi internet is available but their is plug sockets to charge your phone or laptop. I would recommend this place for large groups and for relaxing.

My fiance and I had a meal here on Monday 22nd October which was my birthday. Sheldon looked after us extremely well and made us feel really comfortable. The food was delicious (albeit not quite enough for my partner who can eat loads). I had the bean casulette which was really good and my other half had the beef bourguignon. As it was my birthday Sheldon made everyone in the restaurant sing happy birthday which was hugely embarrassing but quite nice. I also had a free cake... very nice indeed. I would recommend going to Cafe Rouge if you fancy a bit of french.

A friend from Southern England was up in Manchester and spontaneously suggested we meet for a catch up. My partner was already out and I had to think of a convenient venue and location for us all. The museum was perfect. Whoever arrived first could wander around the exhibits. Lots of space in the ground floor open plan cafe. I think 3 cappuccinos and 3 slices of cake came in at about £20 a teeny tad over what I would prefer to pay for what we had. Yummy cake and decent coffee

I recently went for afternoon tea for a special birthday celebration with 12 adults and 4 kids at the cafe in Salford Museum and Art Gallery. It was superb quality and good value for money. The table looked lovely, everything was ready when we arrived and the staff were so friendly and helpful - both on the day and beforehand. The sandwiches were tasty, filling and very fresh and the cakes were dainty looking and delicious. A very tempting selection and top-notch scones too! One of our group needed gluten free and her specially prepared food was excellent too - as were the lunch boxes for the children. The individual little Prosecco bottles were a welcome celebratory touch. After eating, we all thoroughly enjoyed walking through the recreated Victorian street and the kids loved all the other activities for them (brilliant shop too - an affordable selection of goodies). Thanks for a memorable day out! Highly recommended.

My friend booked afternoon tea in advance. Pre-booking would be especially wise in term time as a lot of students use the café. It was a vegetarian special afternoon tea. This is not finger-thin, miniature food, this is proper-size sandwiches, rolls and cakes! We needed a doggy bag, which was perfectly packed. The tea was leaf-tea in interesting pots with effective strainers. The staff were just lovely - so friendly and helpful!

We decided to visit the Museum as it has been some years since I had been ,my Husband had never been , we went on a Sunday afternoon, we visited Lark Hill Place which is a section of the museum given over to a Victorian street it was better than I remembered and the staff were very helpful and informative we even got a free bag of old style sweets from the Victorian sweet shop. We then ventured into the Café and ordered Sandwiches, Cake { a very generous slice } and a pot of Tea each as there were 4 adults it was served to us very graciously by the lovely young lady named Ashley who was behind the counter, for the four of us it only cost £20. a real bargain for four adults with healthy appetites. Unfortunatly we did,nt leave ourselves enough time to visit the Art Gallery but it gives us a good excuse for another afternoon tea.

Lovely views out of the windows, and well spaced seating. Pricing is a tad expensive but comes with the nature of the establishment. Food and drink was great - no complaints to be had! Worth stopping if you're already visiting the museum

It was alright. The staff are friendly and serve anything cooked for you. The menu has cakes, beverages and various toasted Pannies and sandwiches. The seating adjoins the gift shop so it's quite handy. I thin the cafe is used by people on a regular basis for lunch and meeting? Basically, it's handy for the Street and Gallery, but not a special trip.

We came across this cafe on the look-out for something new. The cafe is excellent. It's set on the ground floor of the Salford Museum and Art Gallery and overlooks Peel Park which is being refurbished. The atmosphere is light and airy. The coffee is good and has a good range of cakes and snacks. Great service too. It was an unexpected surprise on a rainy Sunday. Well worth a visit but be prepared to pay for parking though it is good value if you combine it with a visit to the gallery.

Situated in Lightoaks Park, this cafe is open at weekends and serves a range of Barista Coffees, Teas and Hot chocolates. Picnic benches are located outside the cafe for anyone wanting to bring there own food. It is a ideal place for family and friends to visit while incorporating a stroll in the park including visiting the animal sculptures and the duck pond.
