If you are going to eat Thai food, eat here. Been back from Bangkok for a few weeks and were craving Thai food, (and Thailand in general!) Each mouthful of each beautifully prepared dish transported us back to balmy nights, delicious food and amazing people. Thank you so much for your authentic dishes, lovely atmosphere and such kind and welcoming service. We will see you soon. 🇹🇭❤️

We decided on the spur of the moment to go to our favourite Thai restaurant, we weren’t disappointed. The food was delicious and the service very good . We went early to avoid the rush so we made our own atmosphere. A very relaxing evening, thank you.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is outstanding—freshly cooked and carefully prepared by a ‘Master Chef,’ bringing the amazing taste of Thailand to you. This place is my favorite eatery in the entire UK. The staff is always kind, welcoming, and attentive. The restaurant may be small, but it’s charming, creating a feeling of an exclusive experience.

3x 5 Stars because it was truly excellent. Very friendly and helpful service and the chefs do also except special requests. We can highly recommend GAI LAO DAENG if you are more for a mild dish and Panang for a gentle spicy plate. If you have the chance to take the extra mile it is worth it.

Food was lovely flavours but not much chilli ! Service was very poor ,took a while to get served for extra drinks and the restaurant was not that busy to be an excuse We have eaten here at least 6 times and this was the first time the experience was not so good.

First time eating here after recommendations from multiple people. The service was fantastic, prompt and friendly. The food, I have no words - delicious doesn't seem a good enough description! I can't remember having better thai food before, will absolutely be returning for more.

Excellent meal to celebrate my partners birthday, the service very personable and welcoming. We ordered a little too much and I was a bit surprised to be charged for a take home container after spending over £100. Overall it was a lovely evening, thank you 😊

Was recommended by a friend but quite disappointed. Poor start when they had to move a couple from a 4 table to a 2 table as otherwise they could sit us. Half of the table was taken by the wall so create space to move so felt was squashed. Crackers were old, hard and not at all tasty. Crispy squid had way more batter than squid and all I could taste was the oil. Tom Yum soup had no real flavour and if anything a bit sour. Service was slow too - took over an hour for starters and then my friend received their food 10 mins before us so we had to ask when our food was going to arrive.

Visited this restaurant last time we were in Bournemouth and tried it again and did not disappoint, excellent meal. All the dishes were tasty and well prepared. Lots of spice and not too salty. Staff were attentive and so pleasant. Would thoroughly recommend and go back next time we're on Bournemouth.

Amazing food and wonderful serivce.

Dinner for 3 was perfect Tempura veg, tofu and veg red curry, prawn green curry and a prawn drunken noodles (so amazing, but quite spicy) Vegan in the group was chuffed. Vegan red wine was also good! Highly recommend, super friendly staff. Allowed you to try the wine to help you decide.

Had a delicious meal (as always) in delightful surroundings and served by expert staff, A visit to Sala Thai is always a joy! When you visit this restaurant it’s like visiting family, Your requests are all met with smiles and efficiency, The staff are very sweet and helpful and will tweak your meal to your taste. Though the restaurant is small, it is a beautiful well kept secret of southbourne, Delightful to all the senses!

The team visited for a retirement party and thought the food was amazing and all the staff were attentive and wonderful. They even arranged for a celebration cake for the party girl.

Amazing service. Went here for work colleague’s retirement party. The staff looked after us exceptionally well, attentive, and extremely polite. Nothing was too much trouble. They also laid on a massive cake too which was a wonderful surprise. Thank you!! Will definitely return.

Went with four friends for dinner. The staff were so lovely, service was really good. Food was amazing so so good. We got starters and mains. I had the duck spring rolls and red curry with coconut rice was so good and really good portion sizes! Had some of my friends yellow curry too and was so nice. Will definitely go again!

Best thai food in local area. I travel from Highcliffe for the food. The honey coconut prawns are so unique and delicious. Authentic and super tasty thai food! My family have been coming here for years.

The food here was really good. We had Panang pork, beef masaman and chu chee prawns. They all had a strong flavour. The egg fried rice was tasty too.

Exceptional food, some of the best Thai I’ve had in the UK. Friendly and accommodating take out service. When they say spicy against certain dishes they mean SPICY, so be aware.

Good food, staff friendly & can't do enough, relaxed & no rush

Been to Sala Thai for many years however felt the food portions have become smaller and prices have risen. Had red duck curry around £15 that doesn't include rice. My sister had prawn panang just King prawns and sauce was very minimal. I did enjoy my meal but I remember it being so much nicer when I used to go more regular a year or so ago. The staff are very polite and attentive. Maybe a change of chef over the years?

I thought the atmosphere in the restaurant was good and people were enjoying the meals. We ordered takeaway which on a Friday was taking a risk. I think with Thai food, freshness and presentation is key to enjoyment. And chains such as GS do that very well. Yet the grub in the boxes is just not either really. Also the order was for three rice and we only got one, so I had to boil up some extra. The order was for 19:50 and we got the order at 20:17. So we had to wait around. Parking was OK, but it's not the nicest part of town to be frank.

Lovely family Thai restaurant. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. The food was superb. We had the seafood set menu which was incredibly tasty. We will definitely come back next time we are in the area!

Flavourless and nowhere near as good as it has been. Wondering if it has changed hands? Never paid £9 for a few florets of boiled broccoli in a tasteless sauce before. Very disappointing.

Great food, the pad Thai noodles were amazing. Very friendly service and very clean and tidy restaurant. 10/10 would recommend it if you like Thai food!

Polite staff, fast service, delightful food.

First the bad stuff, over priced for a set menu. Cocktail could of maybe been a bit colder. Water and cokes also needed more ice. Toilets are very small, dated and need a good clean. Bbq ribs for starter needed more flavour. They stretched all the meat by cutting the meat into small slithers. Please, please clean the fish tank. Now the good stuff, other starters were pleasant. Mains had a nice flavour, egg fried rice was tasty and broccoli was nice as well. Decor of the restaurant was simple and apt.

Once we’d finished eating and our plates were cleared there was no further service. No one asked if we wanted more drinks or even if we wanted dessert.

Delicious food and very good service. Super kind people and just make you feel special and very welcome. Holy Basil Chicken was the star of what we chose. Nice wine list. The chicken skewers with satey sauce from our sharing starter was absolutely delicious.

Food was very good service very good but in restaurant very drafty due to doors opening every few minutes from terrace area.Needed to keep your coat on not what you want to do sitting down for a meal.

Stellar food and super friendly staff make for an ideal dinner experience

Have always really loved this place and raved about it, even taking visitors here. We got take out and I was shocked with how expensive it has become. £12/13 for a curry is what I would expect to pay dining in but not take out. The food tasted nice but not as amazing as we’ve had previously. I was also really disappointed with how small the portions were. £40 for 3 mains and one rice is too much sadly.

Very cool 😎 quiet , around 18.00 Nice Tom yum, curry and pad Thai. Wife says pad Thai was too sugary. Price mmmm...OK.. not very cheap.

Terrible service, got there at 7pm and never got mains till 08.50pm. 20 mins before we got menu's which we got ourselves.

Early evening Anniversary meal, we both the chose the Fish recommended set meal. Wonderful choice and the starter was also excellent - can never get used to no dessert :( but, that is just us. Staff very friendly and always helpful.

When visiting Bournemouth do visit Sala Thai. It’s authentic, clean, delicious and beautifully presented food served by charming staff.

Went for a family meal on a Saturday. The good: The food is very good and I would rate it above a chain like Koh Thai. Tamarind duck highly recommended. The bad: Your meal is queued with the take aways and on a busy takeaway night we were waiting a long time. Nearly an hour to get the starter and another hour to get the mains. They need to look at how they prioritise restaurant guests vs take-away because it's enough to make us think twice before booking again. The prawn crackers were not that nice. prepared some time before service. Could easily be 5 stars with some small tweaks to service and crackers.

Delicious food and very friendly staff

The service was excellent, the menu was comprehensive and excellent choice especially for a vegetarian. The food was delicious and beautifully served in dishes that represented the choice of food taken. I had Squid and then Thai duck red curry which was very tasty. Shame that only 2 tables booked on a Friday night but this could easily be because money is getting tighter for us all.

Finally took the time to visit Sala Thai and was really impressed! Had a dinner that was authentic Thai. Service was good from happy staff who took us through the menu's many options. Loved the prawns Gra-ree and the Masaman curry. Added to my list of places to go back to.

This is a traditional UK Thai restaurant with an appropriately carved wood interior and waiting staff in Thai gowns etc. They made us feel extremely welcome and were excellent hosts. The food was absolutely lovely. Extremely tasty across the board. Really, the best Thai food I've had. The Thai Shiraz wine was not exactly awesome but fun to try! Last time we went (November 21) the service was slow but this time it was absolutely spot on. I can't recommend this place enough. If they did draught lager it would be perfect.
