Great atmosphere. Fabulous service from the team, the level of which is consistent every time. Food on the lunch menu is of great value and well sized portions that alway tastes great. A MUST visit stop for food if in bury, and the drinks are also delicious

Lots of vegan choices, or items that can be made vegan. We had a birthday lunch here on 25.2.24. it was my first visit but not the first visit for my vegan son, husband and my son's girlfriend. Service was quick and efficient. The food was excellent.

Were at Bury St. Edmunds market on Saturday and fancied something different for lunch. This was the third time we had eaten here. First time was Excellent!! Second time was disappointing as the food, the same as we had previously, was really bland with no real flavour. I had to badger my wife to go in there for a third time but hey, everyone deserves a second chance? This visit, my wife had a chicken curry type dish, the chicken was tough and sinewy.I didn't like it and I'll eat almost anything, I opted for the grilled eel bowl. The menu showed four fillets of eel on a bed of rice. When it was brought out, there were only two fillets. I wanted to ask for the menu to say this is not what i saw and ordered but my wife said no, I don't want a scene. The eel was not bad but I felt I'd been cheated, my wife on the other hand, couldn't eat hers because it wasn't up to the standard that we have at home. Third time lucky it wasn't and wild horses would never drag us back there.

Before going I read the TA reviews - they seemed oddly polarised. I now understand why. The restaurant needs to focus on the basics. The weirdnesses detract from the overall experience. The waitress struggled with inputting orders into her wretched tablet. (Bring back a pad &pen!). I ordered a glass of white wine. A few minutes later another member of staff returned to say that glasses of white wine are off (of the 6 or so whites on the list only one is offered by the glass). Why not open a bottle of another and sell that by the glass then?! And then the glass (of red) arrived. I am not sure what the manager had been drinking when he signed off a purchase order for them, but they were bonkers. Chairs too low for the tables. The detals all add up - they matter. Joyful decor though.

I took my 2 daughters for dinner as a treat, they were very excited as we’d been planning to go for a few weeks. We ordered in advance on the website which worked well. We were shown to our table and then the under whelming service began. The food was very good, we had 2 types of Gyoza, Rainbow Rolls, Beef Skewers, Salmon Sashimi and Chicken noodle soup followed by a dessert platter. All very tasty. The service however left a lot to be desired, one waitress in particular was far too cool to actually speak to any of the diners, we had soup spilled all over the table, from height so splashed everywhere. No apology and then a cursory wipe with a dry napkin. We were asked a couple of times if everything was ok but the question was asked with such little enthusiasm all I could muster in response was “yeah, thanks.” It’s not the cheapest dining experience and being the only Japanese restaurant in the town it could be an excellent dining experience but I won’t be going back unless the service improves!

Had an unexpected day off today so husband and I went out to lunch .. We had been to Sakura before and loved the whole experience. So decided to go back , I had the seafood noodles and husband had Japanese steak and chips with courgettes.. Both dishes were delicious and presented well .. Alfie our waiter suggested dishes for us and we also settled on a sushi selection that was to completely die for .. A small cocktail menu threw up some surprises such as my Moshi Moshi Matcha , a sort of milky whisky creamy cocktail.. Service and food were exceptional.. Yet again , a great visit .. Well worth a visit ..

Worse service ever and a disappointing meal. Ordered food off the menu that was different to what came out. Asked for two different wines to taste at 7.30pm to order a bottle, asked again and again. Asked for some chilli oil that came out 30mins later, good was cold. Was charged for the chilli oil and then offered to now try the wines, this was 9.19pm when a bottle was no longer required. Manager offered to get us a bottle that I thought would be on the house due to all the issues throughout the night. However we only got glass each and was charged. I would not go back or recommend. Very upsetting given the reason we went.

Loved our meal in the beautiful decor upstairs. Stunning attention to detail and so much more to Japanese food than sushi ! Pleased us all from 16 year old son to the grizzled parents

Sakura is an amazing place to go to if you enjoy Asian/Japanese cuisine. Everything I've ordered or eaten here has always been fresh and tasted great. Service has always been polite and fast, so no complaints. I love the interior as well and the price you pay is worth it for the food you get.
