Sainsbury's Café in Torbay

Expected a freshly cooked breakfast, but it arrived in less than 5 mins !! Mushroom not cooked, bacon & sausage cooked and kept warm. Hash browns luke warm & not nice. Beans disgusting, think they were Heinz which I don't like. Wouldn't bother again

Food was fresh and hot and served with a smile

It was okay. The food wasn't fantastic .. we tried the veggie Christmas dinner - the shroomdogs were dry and chewy as were the shrooms in blankets, but it's cheap and cheerful, so a decent place to pop in for a meal/snack. We will probably eat there again, but will go for something that's standard on the menu.

Service is terrible, waiting at the queue for about 10 minutes with a people going in and out of the kitchen yet not serving at the till with minimal people in the cafe to begin with. Ordered 4 baguettes and another 10 minutes after we sat down was informed they only had 1 baguette left bearing in mind it’s on 12:30 and was then served 3 baps that were cheaper than the baguettes we had ordered and was told we could not have a refund for the money lost and couldn’t have anything to make up for it either. After finishing we went to shop and found the exact baguettes they use in the cafe on the shelves of Sainsbury’s which they could have easily used. Food tastes nice but not worth the money, you are better off going to McDonald’s down the road.

Lovely staff with quick service, food is reasonable at good prices

Standard breakfast is good value but quality and quantity can vary enormously. First one tasted had the fried egg missing and today the bacon was cold. Needs improvement 😕

No sugar, we couldn't understand why in the supermarket they couldn't send a member of staff to get some, what was the management doing, 😒

Never had a bad experience here with the service or the atmosphere. Food & coffee is usually really good. Nice priced meals and drinks. Generally clean & tidy. It is often busy whenever I have been but I've always managed to get a seat & table.

Useful cafe, but gee, so slow to be served. Should be two queues... Meals and drinks, and just drinks. Or maybe just an under Sixties queue . (Younger people who actually know what they want, and don't have dietary requirements!)

At the end of the day it's a supermarket cafe. It was warm the food was great, the staff were great too. It's not really a place for atmosphere but it provides a great service.

All ways OK but today they was closing early I don't think they had many staff put that not down to them

Visited for a cappuccino before doing our shopping in the store. The cafe was quiet and we were served quickly.

BREAKFAST MEAL WAS LUKE WARM. SHAME AS PRESENTATION WAS GOOD.

Food was substandard, lukewarm and overcooked. Women serving was miserable. For the price I expected more.

Popped in late afternoon for coffee and a cake. Thoroughly enjoyed both and it was comfy and pleasant just sitting and chatting a while. The latte was perfect. The mocca was a little skimpy as it was only 2/3 of a cup, my sister wasn't too impressed. I would go again just for one of those lattes.

Fantastic cafe. Tea is in big mugs. Much more relaxed and comfortable than stuffy old Sparks cafe.

Went on Sunday 30th April , weak coffee all milk , food was awful 😣 how can you go wrong with cheesy chips, 🤷‍♀️chips dry and cold didn’t even melt the cheese, scampi was dry had no middle left ,no toasted sandwiches left, cakes were all dry, we stop using the cafe a few weeks back, don’t know why we went back , try M&S much better

Closing at 5 but no hot food after 3pm

I ordered a breakfast, which arrived with inedible crispy bacon vile undercooked eggs that had a skin over the yolk. Obviously the food had been sitting under a heat lamp. I won't go again as thus is not the first time I've found their offerings totally unacceptable.

It’s chaos. Every time I come the staff are out of their depth. Takes ages to be served and usually end up with the wrong order.

Pleasant place with polite service. Food was fine. It's a cafeteria so good value.

Ordered beer batter fish and chips .....AVOID! The fish was definitely not beer battered it was over cooked dried out frozen fish and the chips were oven chips! It came with peas, overcooked and different shades of green!! I would have been prepared to pay extra for the real thing. Used to be so nice, what a disappointment. My husband had a cappichinno which tasted premixed with powdered milk, one of the worst he has ever had!! Needless to say we will not be returning!

Food is terrible. Avoid at all cost. The whole family has agreed not to step food on any sainsbury cafe ever. Reheat something frozen and I bet it tastes better that this cafe. Avoid avoid avoid.

Waste of time having menu on wall whenever you ask for something haven’t got it even though there in a food hall. counter service poor no customer care despite waiting for the food they had came out wrong and cold

Went here for a bit of a late lunch, what can I say, the food tasted like it was gone off, the staff were rude and one lady even referred to customers as “like feeding pigs” My mother had to ask her to clean the table as it was absolutely disgusting, they also left foot on the table that looked like it had been there all day, we would have cleared it ourselves if it wasn’t for the fact that we have an allergy to fish. We tried to tell her but she wasn’t the slightest bit interested. Clearly has no allergen awareness. Altogether very unhappy with this place, their standards have certainly dropped in the last year or so.

Can’t do zero stars. Had soup for 2, luke warm. Meant to include roll and butter but got charged for that then find they had one spoon for 2 people so spoon shift service as soup turned to cold. Wait for coffee then find they forgot to do it and serving others after us. If they knew meaning of customer service they could be dangerous

The Big Breakfast was as I expected and yes I did like it

Generally the food was decent but some people really shouldn't work in a customer facing environment. Ordered my food and whilst my drink were being made up, incorrectly I was handed a cappachino and when one of the other staff asked her if I'd ordered a standard or a luxury chocolate, I had to correct what the lady on the till answered. More staff needed too, massive queue of ppl and one person taking orders and making drinks most of the time.

Slow. Inexpensive and reasonable quality. Chicken and veg soup lovely.

Very busy cafe, lovely friendly staff who are only too happy to help. Good place for a quick cuppa and maybe a slice of cake. Yet to try the meals but they look good.

Good for a coffee and iced finger roll

This is within the main supermarket, accessible via the normal entrance. An average range of ready food , and some food to order. Usually quite busy, and can run out of ready lines and soup during luch periods. Prices are reasonable and food is fresh, and of average standard. Good for a break, but best to use before shopping or after you've checked out and put your purchases in the car, as trolleys are not able to be taken into eating area.

Ok quite crowded, cheap and cheerful

Always a winner with the 3 yr old Grandson who loves the childs pizza. Well worth the money & the cafe staff are top notch friendly

There was a half hour wait for food but when it arrived it was tasty and good value for money.

Lovely cafe that's made fantastic due to the great food (and portions!) but most importantly, the friendly staff.

We had to wait for 45 minutes for our food and when it came mine was totally dry this being the big breakfast and my wife's was totally the wrong order so had to wait 10 minutes more for it to arrive to find the baguette had no butter on it and was so dry it was uneatable, will not be eating here again 🤔😤😡

Just need to clean that tables!

No longer do milkshakes as too much sugar but you can have a great big piece of chocolate fudge cake

Eggs and chips great, Yorkshire Ham a disappointment, processed rubber would be a better name for it.

Every now again you get a good meal, Needs someone there who can cook eggs (always undercooked) The Fish is not bad, mash is ok, Coffee is fantastic. Newton abbot sainsburys puts torquay to shame.

Very busy ( but it was lunchtime) with a 15 minute delay from ordering to recieving food. All colleagues very polite and helpful. Food was good for a café. Clean and tidy at service points.

90%friendly,85%tidy..not too crowdy ,easily accessible for everyone ,( friendly for wheelchairs and powered chairs) not a fancy but good menus and very good meeting point ( out of office) free parking space + shopping done at once + eye tested ( specsaver )+ Argos & petrol station round the corner .visited often bymyself x

The food was nice, but the restaurant was clearly short staffed with no trays available at the start and the sole lady at the counter clearly struggling to take orders, serve drinks and take payments. Never seen it so short staffed felt sorry for her.
