Ordered on Christmas Eve from Saigon Restaurant, to collect. Arrived at the specified collection time and the restaurant was closed down, in darkness. Phone number had been disconnected. I have been trying since to get a refund from Just Eat but all they say is “take it up with the restaurant” as it was an order for collection. I explained that the restaurant no longer exists, but they don’t want to know. Seriously disappointing

Been going to this place alot in the past when it was a restaurant. Before it turned in to a takeaway Im surprise it's still open They don't follow allergies And things aren't as they say on there menu Impossible to get hold of /especially when need to make a complaint They will quite happily take your money and serve you cold food and won't follow orders on what you can't eat in certain orders Food cold by the time you get it Say certain foods are mild when they ain't and not Cate of the customer is suffering days after wards and not even refund you for the rubbish they sent your way I advise stay away at all costs they are unsafe to order from and don't seem to care about allergies or the repercussions of it after wards and happy to take your money and see you ill from there food

Saigon Restaurant Aberdeen Well what can I say... a restaurant I have got to for about 15 years and must have had literally hundreds of meals in because an ex mate used to be addicted to it, including numerous "business neetings" so we could claim back through expenses, laughs with some friends no longer here, arranged functions while eating and just enjoyed ended up with me walking out of it in disgust last night. I'm not really sure where to start and it's been a good few months since I was last in but I seriously can't remember it being this bad. From the broken sign, dreary entrance, curled up carpet at the door, dirty faded carpet on the stairs down, wallpaper hanging off the wall, no atmosphere when I entered the actual restaurant, being seated by a scruffy member of staff wearing a pair of jeans and white trainers, not one customer, hand dryer disconnected in male toilet, pattern being gone on the carpet from the toilets, more dirty carpets in the main restaurant, hard seats, argumentative and rude staff, not being able to have the food we wanted... I could go on but it would just get boring. Welcome to Saigon Restaurant Aberdeen possibly newest contender for the worst restaurant in Aberdeen. Claimed to have an all you can eat menu which I have always had but wouldn't let me and a friend have a 2 person platter because I had already ordered starters and it was for two people but when we asked we could have it as separate dishes from the menu? Not letting us order half a platter to save ordering it separately. Just shocking service, can't say too much about the food as we never got that far and the diet cokes were whisked away as soon as we said we were leaving just before a 5 minute stand off with the scruffy guy in jeans and white trainers who just got ruder and ruder, but thanks to the young blonde waitress who just stood and kept apologising to us for the way we were being spoken to by the alleged "manager" when I told him I can understand why the restaurant is empty on a Thursday evening Luckily the evening was saved thanks to Wild Ginger on Union Street, immaculate entrance, prompt service by people who actually looked like they worked there, great ambiance, reasonably busy and food to die for.

I will start by saying the food is lovely here, the low rating is for the poor service and overcharging. We have been to Sai Gon many a times over the years and never found fault with the food or bill. 2 of us visited here on Friday night. We ordered a glass of red and a glass of rose wine, and when our drinks came, they had opened full bottles and said now that they were open we would be charged for them. At this point we thought to be honest we would have ordered another glass of wine each anyway so weren't overly fussed but we did say glasses. We ordered 2 portions of smoked corn chicken, a salt and pepper shredded chicken and a prawn toast. Prawn crackers arrived, we didn't order, but as far as I am led to believe they are free. We then ordered a quarter duck. All food was absolutely delicious, cannot take that away from them. When we received the bill, at first glance we thought it was quite expensive as it was £92. The wine was around £18/19 per bottle, which we had no issues paying, we were charged for prawn crackers and the food came to £51.50. I queried this as the starters were around £7 each and duck is around £10, so didn't think our food bill would be quite as much. Baring in mind at this point 4 of us visited a few months back, we all had 2 drinks each, 3 starters, 3 mains, rice, chips and noodles between us and was only £120. We were told, we were actually dearer but was charged the buffet price each, I said but our food doesn't come to even this amount so I am not sure how we could have been dearer, plus we had no actual mains or rice, noodles etc. The, I presume owner, went away and he was going through tickets behind the counter, he came back and said our food came to £63, but there was no breakdown of this. I asked if he could get the menu so we could go through it because there was no way our food totalled £63. He stated we had 2 smoked chicken, 2 shredded chicken, 2 prawn toast, 2 of something else we didn't order, and a half or whole duck, he made the second smoked chicken a main to make it cheaper for us so charged us the buffet price. I told him what we had again and said there is no possible was our food came to this amount, he then agreed he may have had it wrong, then said yes but I charged you the buffet price. His argument made no sense, we were going round in circles for 10 minutes or so and in the end, we decided just to pay it, of course left no tip and will never be back. Very disappointed - please watch and check what you are being charged.

No estoy seguro si volveré.

Family visited the Sai Gon restaurant for a birthday celebration which consisted of a group of 9 adults. We had the choice of 102 dishes from starters to main course in plentiful supply and ordering second helpings was never a problem. The starter of corn chicken was well consumed. The variety and quantity plus the speed of service was unbelievable and thought I would be unable to finish my main course but I did. Even with the amount of dishes to be served each dish was delivered to the table hot. The 2 girls that was serving worked their socks off throughout the evening to make our visit enjoyable. No Vietnamese eating here; they know better! The waitress who works there is their greatest asset. Polite, popular, fun and efficient, she is everything the other staff are not. They have a menu but most items were off as the restaurant preferred you to eat their pre-prepared fare which bore little resemblance to anything I ate in Vietnam. There was too much salt in everything and at £23 pp it was over priced. If you like Vietnamese food then avoid this place.

Our waitress was so lovely and helpful as it was our first visit she explained the menu to us and we decided on the all you can eat. We shared the smoked corn chicken and chicken satay along with crispy duck pancake rolls - everything was lovely and the portions were perfect sized. For mains we had crispy shredded beef and chicken in a coconut curry sauce - again both dishes were delicious and portion sizes were perfect. We were too full for desserts and left very satisfied, we will be back again and looking to return with some friends! The only slight complaint would be that the decor is quite dated and I think a big benefit would be to redecorate and modernise the restaurant.

Visited here after reading the many mixed reviews on Trip Advisor.Having travelled all over Vietnam was really looking forward to something different. What we got was a Chinese meal in disguise. Just because the name of the dish is in Vietnamese doesn't make it a Vietnamese dish.Quality of food was ok but nothing to draw us back. The Vietnamese spring rolls were not Vietnamese - trust me there is a big difference between they served up and real Vietnamese spring rolls. The décor was as described in so many other reviews - outdated, dirty and in need of refurbishment. That could be tolerated if the food was worth it.The head waiter needs a customer service refresher course. Very brusque and gave impression he could be bothered.Definitely won't be back as there are many far superior Chinese restaurants in Aberdeen.

I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and unfortunately it seems to get worse and worse every time. To the point where I now won't be returning. It is usually known as one of the more popular Asian restaurants in Aberdeen however the decor is rapidly declining with torn carpets and shoddy furniture being the first thing you see on arrival. The food seems to be based around quantity rather than quality. The menu is ridiculously large and you can tell in the taste that this has taken its toll on the kitchen. It appears to make masses of food in advance so that It can cope. Resulting in everything tasting like a bad takeaway. Also when we used the "all you can eat" option we were told we could order what we wanted and how many different dishes we wanted. However when we received our dishes it was a mass of vegetables with a small portion of meats. Meaning that once we ate the meat we then had to eat our body weight in onions and peppers before being allowed to order anything else.As a result neither myself or my friends intend on returning.

Mid month Thursday visit with friends and family before my daughter headed off to Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. A fitting start to the trip. Saigon can get very busy and diners experiences can reflect personal reflections of service and food quality. That being said, our visit this time was fantastic! The friendliest and happiest waitress I have had there and the food was all tangy and fresh and hot and the banquet choices kept coming with none of them failing to satisfy.Four of our guest, well traveled, had never been to Saigon Restaurant, despite living in Aberdeen. I believe that 3 of the 4 will definitely return. The 4th, well his taste buds vary from day to day these days, so no fault of Saigon. It is best coming here in social groups of 6-10 to enjoy the best selection of banquet dishes, sharing and experimenting. This should be a social culinary occasion and not just dinner, that way one benefits all round.Having been going to Saigon for years, yes there are better nights than others but my experiences are that even the nights that weren't quite so good, were still great nights and have never stopped me wanting to come back and always with friends. The smoked corn chicken is to die for! Absolutely delicious!! Its funny because when you visit this restaurant you will look around and soon realise that everybody has ordered the smoked corn chicken (must be known for it).I would recommend. Dropped in early Saturday and secured a table for two, in contrast to another restaurant we entered earlier that was empty this had quite a few clients considering it was early evening. We were presented with a buffet menu and all we could eat so we selected a number of dishes and the staff persuaded us to try the bite size chicken dish. Food and drinks were delivered promptly and I was impressed with the quality of the dishes and the chicken dish was extremely moreish. I note this place has mixed reviews but our experience was very positive and this is not the first time we have dined here although the last time was a number of years ago. In essence we felt it was very good value, wines were reasonably priced and staff were very pleasant, its not your high end restaurant and I guess at peak times it can be challenging for customer and staff but we enjoyed it and shall return, thank you

Really nice food, let down by a pushy waiter.Told what too order. We even asked what the rush was to be told we close at two, this was at 1315hrs.Waiter could not get rid of us quick enough which made us feel pressured and therefore made the whole experience rushed and not how we like to dine.Food quality however was good.Just let down by awful foodservice.

Food ok service terrible waited 30 minutes for a drink .Had the buffet menu all you could eat left hungry due to the slow service might have been a ploy to stop you eating to much.Complained to the south called manager who was not interested. This used to be a good restaurant but unfortunately it has went downhill badly.

Visited this on the back of a recommendation from a friend at work. Great food, excellent value and an overall good experience. Staff are friendly and helpful and gave good advice about what to order. The restaurant is a bit shabby chic, but don't let that put you off. Best to go as a group experience

This is a Chinese restaurant masquerading as Vietnamese. They have one or two dishes that could claim to be authentic but when served you realise they have been made without reference to the original and the way they should be made. The waiters are very pushy and try to make you order the mixed starters. We accepted and what we got was the Iceland bumper variety finger food pack. Worst spring rolls ever! So they try and fill you up with the cheap crap early on and if you're getting the 'all you can eat' you have just wasted most of your appetite. When we mentioned the food wasn't Vietnamese (I lived there for a year) the waiter agreed and said that Vietnamese food "Was not good. Too much fish sauce" The mains were MSG heavy and l would be very surprised if the sorry excuse for chicken had ever seen the light of day when alive (watery with no texture). I'm not lying when l say this was the worst meal i've paid £75 (3 people) for ever! Should have walked out after the starters!! Do not go.

I had to write this review as my previous visit wasn't the greatest experience. However this time I couldn't fault it, staff were really attentive, we had a table of nine so really kept them on their toes, we selected a variation of starters all were spot on, particularly the corn chicken and crab claws, we moved on to soup or duck, then main courses, again we could find fault, we were offered more if we required, we were there on a Sunday lunchtime and were there an hour after the 2pm closing, at no point did we feel hurried. If I had to pick fault, the decor is getting tired particularly the carpet which has seen better days, but this cannot detract from and excellent dining experience, well done Sai Gon, I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

I remember celebrating my 40th birthday here with some good friends and the night was memorable for all the right reasons. My husband and I dined here last night and it was a complete let down in all respects. The place needs to close for a while to do some major refurbishment, terracotta walls dark and gloomy, the carpet is heavily worn and stained. The female toilets had spare chairs stacked on the windowsill and cracked tiles. During the good times money should have been spent to keep it looking fresh and contemporary. The service was variable, one female server was helpful and chatty, the rest were bordering on rude. The atmosphere was non-existent, we were placed next to another table with only a large plant (they need to be binned) between us. To top things off nicely they were having a row!! We ordered a few starters, the infamous smoked corn chicken arrived and we asked the whereabouts of our others after 10 mins and were told very abruptly, yes yes they are coming!! The chicken was ok, the crispy duck was good but the main courses were a disaster. Crispy shredded beef tasted of batter with no hint of beef and I had a king prawn delight which was by no means that, the sauce very watery with no depth of flavour. The rice was sticky and ok. The cost was too much, yes its all you can eat for £22.80 per head but we both felt that it was too much for the overall lack of positive dining experience. Needless to say we won't be back.

Been a long time regular at Sia Gon. Vietnamese fixed menu restaurant. As many dishes as you can eat for 101 dishes for £21.80. Well kind of all you can eat as they do limit you to two meals per person at a time which isn’t too unreasonable. The starters are by far the best. We had two courses of crispy aromatic duck. No complaints. Good quality. Only complaint was that for the balance of the amount of duck you get doesn’t match the amount of wraps you get. Not really an issues as they do come out with more on request but not always the quickest and it can break up the meal a bit too much. The corn chicken is amazing. We get a bowl each as neither of us want to share it with the other. Main courses were good. A little skimpy with the amount of meat that is in each dish but for as it’s an all you can eat it’s not really a problem. It’s a nice, kind of no frills restaurant. Hidden away down a back alleyway which is slightly off putting but once inside its pleasant enough. Only wish they would improve the desert menu. It’s the only let down.

Was very disappointed in the quality of food at this restaurant, the chicken was of a very soft texture and was not good at all, the lamb was very fatty and left you with a real greasy taste in your mouth. One prawn dish out of the three that we had, Tom to, had any flavour the others were bland, there was plenty of food and you pay the one price and eat your fill and more, the staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant itself is tired and you can see by the furnishings been well used, when you look at the carpet you just think it needs a good deep clean, toilets were clean but again tired cracks on some tiles scuff marks, just a well used restaurant, my advice if your hungry this is the place to go, would I go back? No

I don't normally review a place I've not eaten but thought my experience would help others make a decision on the lunch option available. We had a look online and there was an all-you-can-eat banquet for £26 (order off a menu, not buffet style) and an à la carte menu. There were a few options on the à la carte menu we fancied (wasn't up for all-you-can-eat for an hours lunch at that price). When we got there it was empty bar one waiter folding tablecloths/napkins and another man who 'greeted' us, kicking a box out the way to show us to our table. He then gave us menus and said it's £26 for the all-you-can-eat (although on the menu outside it says introductory offer of £22.60). We asked for the à la carte menu, he said no the all-you-can-eat is all there is. So we left. A little worried that the all-you-can-eat menu has over 100 dishes, but they couldn't rustle up something off the à la carte (e.g. one of the noodle dishes).

I love Sai Gon! It's something different in Aberdeen, with a huge variety of dishes to choose from. It can be quite pricey for the buffet menu per person but you can order as much as you like for the price. The staff are friendly and recommend dishes. I love the spicy pork & chicken noodles and the sizzling chicken with black bean sauce is delicious.

With a group of males, 10 of us. Firstly the waiter insisted we took the banquet, when asked for the normal menu was told they had no more of them! Food was reasonable, nothing special. Bill at the end was hand written in 3 lines and was very expensive, granted a lot was beer it just gave the perception they'd ripped us off. Toilet was pretty dirty and not very salubrious overall. Wont be back.

We fancied something a bit different so decided to come here for dinner last week. The menu is all you can eat for £22.40, and the menus is extensive. I would recommend the Smoked Corn Chicken, you'll see most tables having it. Its lovely and garlicky. However, I would recommend (Depending on what server you receive) to stand your ground with your choice. They will try and push you into ordering the appetizer platters and then the duck wraps after that so you are sufficiently stuffed. The platter is a combination of the most popular things of the appetizer menu and it is good don't get me wrong, but if you're like me and you want control over what you order you need to be firm. A bit ridiculous as its a restaurant but that's the way it is.I wouldn't recommend the scallop with lemongrass main - The lemongrass is most of the dish, is overpowering and ruins the dish.

We decided to visit and try the 22.80 everything you can eat. The menu has a wide selection of 102 dishes which are inclusive of the of the price. The waiters were exceptional, namely Janine who paid particular attention to every need without making you feel like you couldn't get a moments peace! Unlike the usual buffet style restaurants, Saigon put a lot of effort into starters and mains. I will absolutely be recommending this place. If you read this - go and try it! You won't regret it!!

I was meeting up with some family friends while visiting Aberdeen and they suggested that we go here for some food. I didn't realise before I got here that it was an all you can eat table service and I was very happy when I sat down and found this out.The food was great, for starters we shared a huge plate of all sorts of things, I especially enjoyed the ribs and everyone was very excited about the smoked corn chicken which was supposed to be exceptional. We then went on to have some duck and pancakes, which was obviously great and then on to the mains. All the main dishes we had were delicious especially the crispy chilli beef, which I find can be hit and miss in many places. As with this kind of restaurant it is always great to be able to order lots of different dishes and sample a bit of everything. The only problem we found was that the service was a little bit slow. For us catching up this was great as it meant we were able to swap plenty of stories, however this wouldn't have been so good if we were just getting some food in before we went out for drinks. I hear normally the service is a lot faster, this may just have been because it was a busy Saturday night.

Firstly, this place doesn't have a great look. As soon as you arrive, you notice the carpet. If it was there before I was born, it wouldn't surprise me. It's really old and dirty. The whole decoration is outdated: leather sofas and fake plants. The place would really benefit from a refurbishment because the "dirty" look really affects the way you expect and perceive food. My main advice regarding the food is to avoid the starters. They are not good especially if you have tried high quality thai starters either in Thailand or the UK. Usually, the starters are the highlight, but in this place they should be avoided. The worst bit about the "traditional" thai platter was the crab claw. It was basically a crab claw stuck on a fish stick!! Don't need to be a food critic to realize it wasn't a proper crab claw. The main dishes weren't too bad. There are a lot of deep/stir fried dishes, and the key is to get the right balance. We ordered the chili king prawns which was the best dish of the night. It tasted fresh and hot, and had a good texture brought by the combination of peppers and peanuts. We also had the crispy chili beef which is OK if you fancy more deep fried food. The coconut chicken curry was average, nothing special, although to be fair the chicken was cooked properly as it wasn't rubbery and the sauce was tasty. We had vietnamese noodles and rice as sides. These were ok, although as greasy as the rest of the food. Service was friendly. In summary, if you fancy deep fried food and you're not worried about the carpet then it is ok, but if you're expecting more than that, then this place is not for you.

My boyfriend and I visited Saigon last night for supper, we thought we would go for something different for a change. We felt as if the waiter completely rushed our order, he was basically telling my partner what to order, seemed very forceful as if he was rushing us on. Then told my partner to move his chair round the table as it was in the way of another chair at a table. (which no one was sat at). My partner ordered Golden Chicken, which was described as a sort of lemon and herb chicken. and was then served something that was like chicken fillets in sweet chilli sauce. I had asked for the chicken and shredded potato, and got served chicken with chips throughout it with a sauce. I was very disappointed as I am on a strict diet and am not actually aloud to have chips. All in all was extremely unhappy with the service and food, I work in the industry myself and I know how important it is to make customers feel as comfortable as possible. We never felt comfortable at all. Wouldn't recommend or return.

Went here couple of weeks prior with friends and food was good so decided to visit again with our partners. Went for the buffet meal all in. Starters were great, corn chicken was a hit again. This was followed by the crispy duck pancakes which were also nice. The mains let it down however. The chilli lamb that was a hit a couple of weeks back was far too salty that meant the dish was largely untouched . The curry wasn't the best either. First batch of noodles were good, the last set were too salty, felt like too much soy sauce was used. Service was good and we didn't need to wait too long to get additional servings when a dish was finished and staff were friendly.
