Superb delivery received tonight, ordered and paid over phone by card. Delivered soon enough and very tasty dishes. Will use them again

Where to start? Walked in to be met by plastic flowers and red gloss paint, musty greasy smell in the air. Despite this I thought I’ll give it a go as this had been recommended. Drinks - flat pints of cobra, the only draught lager on offer. Flat coke poured out of a 2ltr bottle at £3.90 a pint. Starters - special mixed, which consisted of a tiny lamb chop covered in a gooey red sauce. Seekh kebab of a mushy consistency chicken chaat without a puri bread and a piece of chicken tikka. Average at best. Main - lamb tikka thawa which came served in the frying pan it was made in! Seriously!! Nothing like an authentic thawa it was greasy and lacking any flavour profile. Rice was ok chips were fries and not the best. Naan breads and chapati all ok. All in all a poor experience somewhat like walking into an only fools and horses set

Judging from the other reviews here this seems to be a popular and reasonably good restaurant; so perhaps we just caught them at a bad moment ? However having been advertised as somewhere that you could take your own bottle of wine in when we did so the attitude of the staff was, "snotty," and mildly hostile, then the food was unexceptional and in fact my wife's curry was not nice at all, (we took it home but threw it away.) Not somewhere I'd want to go again nor would I recommend it, but then it's becoming increasingly hard to get a decent curry anywhere in Oldham these days.

On this occasion we ate in and as usual the food was delicious 😋 great service Just as good if you have take away, can definitely recommend best Indian by far thanks to all at Sagor

The food was amazing We had rogan josh with rice,chips, and chapatti The food was scrumptious The chicken was so moist, and there was loads of it. Fries which I prefer, the rogan josh was so tasty, made my taste buds tingle The portion sizes were big Would 100% recommend

went there for what i thought should be a nice Asian meal due to its location but sadly one of the worse i have been to give it a miss.

Made very welcome on arrival. All social distance rules in place and temperature and details taken. I had lamb chat and my husband had barges. I then had chicken and mushrooms set on fire with brandy I xant remember what my husband had but everything was delicious and very tasty. We had Irish coffee and then we were provided with a complimentary brandy and a baileys. Staff friendly polite and helpful. Highly recommend

I opted for chicken and cheese kufta and my partner the vegetable biryani, both excellent! Chips were hot and onion bahjis crispy. Glad I’ve finally tried this place and will be back 100%

Normally eat in but obviously with lockdown had delivery .Brilliant as always , been going a long time and never disappoints

Me and the hubby went to collect our mealfor a change, stayed and had a drink while we was waiting.Even got a free baileys when our food was brought to us Best Indian in town!!! Staff are always nice and friendly, the food is always tasty and very good value for money. Would highly recommend

Went to Sagor last night for the first time. It isn't as splendid as some restaurants you go to. But don't let that stop you from going in. Really friendly professional staff when you enter. It was so busy we had to wait for a table. So I'd book if you know you want to go. The menu had all the usual favourites. Plus the house specials. Our food came and I've got to say. It was beautiful. Really tasty and piping hot. Had the mixed chicken starter. Chicken tikka patia with mushroom rice. Bombay potatoes and a pashwari nan. Needless to say. There was enough left over to take out what I couldn't eat.Moreover, it's really well priced. If I had one criticism. It would be I cant find it on Uber Eats or Just Eat. Then you wouldn't have to leave the house to enjoy it!!

We’ve visited this restaurant for years both as a couple , with friends and even catered for 30 people at my husbands 50th birthday ,this place us a truly traditional restaurant with amazing food and service , especially Abdul who always finds the time to have a little chat no matter how busy he is . Well done Sagor .. your food is delicious and staff brilliant

We love a curry. But the curry we where given was on another level.perfect in every way. The waiter was fantastic.would definitely go back

It was our 13th wedding anniversary and I thought it would be nice to go back to the restaurant we ate at on the very first night we met. Bit of a bonus was they were offering 2for1 through the Meerkat app, I told them when I booked our table & as we were seated on the night that we had booked with the meerkat offer. The food was amazing & the waiter was extremely pleasant too. We asked for the bill, this was brought and one of the waiters came over with a book in his hand asking for the meerkat code, I shown him on my phone that I didn't get a code, I was just able to scroll through the app and it tells you to call the restaurant and remember to tell them I was using Meerkat to be able to book a table, which I did twice! He insisted I should have a code & told me he'd got hundreds from other customers, I shown him my email & how you download the app & to book a table with them, it just asks you to call their number! Again he insisted I should have a code!! The situation was now becoming extremely embarrassing!! He told me he'd go and get the manager, who then came over and asked ME what the issue was, I explained the waiter was insisting I had a code but I didn't, again I shown him the app and how it worked and that I had downloaded that from an email, he asked to see the email, so I shown him, he then said we had to have a cash card that matched the name in the email!! My husband shown him his cash card, he replied 'my eyes aren't very good I can't see the name', so my husband then got out his driving licence & then the Manager believed that we weren't there trying to pull a fast one for the sake of a curry & a portion of samosas!! If you are going to sign up to the meerkat offers then at least know how the scheme works instead of totally embarrassing your customers, which totally ruined our evening, I will not be returning!!

This is the only place I go to now, all other places are never consistent I have been coming to Sagor for years always consistent and reasonably priced, the staff are very friendly.

Came here with three friends for 730 booking, due to two large parties and the restaurant being busy we didn't get seated till 8.

Decided to have a drive out somewhere different tonight! Meerkat meals 241! Great food, music and friendly staff! Ordered a lamb madras and chicken garlic special and both were awesome! Cheap this place at £3-4 per starter but don’t let that fool you ! Cobra on draft so can’t go wrong ! If you want to pay early 2000s prices for a curry give these guys a try !

Visiting family in the area, we went here for dinner and had no complaints. Good attentive ( and at times fun ) service complimented the food. All well prepared and presented. I can see why our family are regulars.

Myself and my friend visited on a Wednesday night after seeing that Sagor was now on Meerkat meals, where we would get 2 for 1 on starters ,mains and puddings Sunday to Thursdays. We were the only people when we arrived at 5.15pm, and were seated, when we were given the menu we again mentioned the Meerkat meals deal, we were told we could only have the set curry meal for two people, priced £12.95, so ok we agreed, he went away and then came back and apologised and said it was actually £12.95 each, I pointed out this was the price anyway without any offer!!, he then said he would ask his boss , who was not yet at the restaurant. A few minutes later his phone rang and after several minutes speaking he came to us and now said he’s been told we had to pick the cheapest items off the set menu, but only one item between us !! So we had now gone from 2 for 1, to 1 for 2!!! . I again shows him my phone and the offer that they were supposed to be offering, he told us he was new and was unsure what was correct, we asked to pay for our drinks and decided to leave, I told him that his boss’s need to check the terms and conditions of Meerkat meals as I’m sure we won’t be the only people who will try to use the deal. I have used this offer at several other restaurants and have never had any issues, I think Sagor need to look again to see what they have signed up for .

This curry house is the best in OLDHAM and last nights visit confirmed that. From walking in you are given a really warm welcome,the food was outstanding the service was first class. this is a must for anyone who loves curry.

This places food is amazing we order from here quite often this is the best indian in oldham area easily, the reason we order takeaway rather than eating in as i feel you get more curry and rice when ordering from this restraunt and due to the food being so good you want as much as possible right?

Eaten here many times and always enjoyed but this visit was exceptional. Everything we ordered was spot on. Very friendly relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I have been coming here many years with friends and family. It is such a good restaurant my in laws always insist on a Sagor. Our most recent visit was one such family meal. The food was delicious even our 2 year old was impressed! The staff are friendly, courteous and efficient nothing is too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend Sagor to anyone.

First time visiting this place after hearing good things. Definitely not disappointed. We will be returning for sure. We ended up ordering quite a few side dishes to share and these were great (bargain price too but that is just an added bonus). All the food had a really fresh and fragrant taste to it and genuinely nothing we had could be faulted. Hard to imagine how any of our dishes could have been made any better. If you haven't yet been you should try it, you will not be disappointed. A previous review mentioned the decor and yes fair enough you do not feel like you are in a Manchester City Centre over priced trendy place but that's because you are not. We know where we'd rather be.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant after hearing a lot of good comments from our friends. And it will definitely not be our last visit. The service was efficient and the food arrived quickly. The curries we tried were amazing and the nan breads were very tasty and fresh. The food and drinks prices are very reasonable for the quality that's on offer. Definitely worth a visit if you love a good curry. And the glass of warm brandy at the end of the meal is a great final touch.

Nice good, good service and fair prices. Decor could do with a modern update, but it doesn't change the meal :)

Very tasty food, great prices, great staff, one of my favourite curry houses in Oldham, the staff will alway look after you. Pleny of choice on the menu even if you don't like currys. You won't be disappointed.

My local "Indian", having been coming for years and it's always great. This time we visited because my granddaughters (9 and 7) had asked to come, they'd enjoyed the food so much on their last visit.. It was a Saturday night so the restaurant was busy, but the service was still efficient but friendly and the food quality was as good as ever. There isn't a restaurant to beat it.

First class service from professional staff from the moment you enter, Food of the highest quality which has never changed over the years we have been dining here. The little touches like hot towels, complimentary oranges, drinks and chocolates just adds to a perfect dining experience.

Vine aquí para una gran comida familiar, el servicio era fantástico, la comida deliciosa y fresca y tiempos de espera mínimo. El camarero, Abdul muy atento y servicial. El ajo Nan es para morirse, tan fresco, húmedo y sabroso. Sin duda lo recomiendo y volveré pronto. Gracias.

We tried the restaurant after a recommendation and now we go every week! The curries are delicious and the food has never ever been disappointing. The naan bread is the best we've had! Definitely value for money!

Wonderful small "Indian" restaurant producing quality dishes with great staff in a relaxed setting. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. If you can't decide on something on the menu, tell them what sort of dish you are looking for and they will provide suffestions for you, even getting things made especially to suit your tastes.

I have been going to this restaurant for the past 19 years and it is my ultimate fav!! The staff are friendly and always try there best to make you leave with a smile. I go no where else as it does not match to here the food is gorgeous and with the new decor it's a relaxing environment. Would defiantly recommend to anybody and they will even make a curry with no spice for children on request. Love this place

Good Food, Slowish Service however the food made up for it.Tasty foods, even asked for a recommendation I told them the type of curry I like and the spice/ heat I wanted. Ten of us had a great night at the Sagor. The food was first class the staff were excellent and joined in with the banter. Great service and reasonably priced I have no hesitation in recommending the Sagor.

Recommended for sit in service but do avoid weekends as its that packed you can't move and the food takes too long to come out. It was tasteless last time we sat in. Takeaway okay but not the average kebab house so curry is the Best Buy when ordering takeaway

We often visit this restaurant and are never disappointed. It gets better each time. The owner always give you a warm welcome and the staff are friendly and helpful, especially Abdul who has worked there many years. Its only a small establishment so it is advisable to book. We usually choose from the chefs specialities. This time we chose bhajis and fish tikka for starters. Poppadams came whilst you wait which isnt long.Chicken tikka akbari and karahi for main meal. So many delicious flavours. Always get a complimentary brandy in a warmed brandy glass and a baileys after the meal. Excellent value. A firm favourite.

We have been using the sagor for many years now.we go in to sit in or we use the takeaway service the food is always excellent the staff are always friendly.it is only five minutes from my home so it is convenient as well as good my favourite dish is the chicken balti garlic special its not on the new menu but I have been having I for years so I only have to ask for it I would HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THIS RESTAURANT

Been to the sagor for my partners birthday it is my third visit and I cannot complain the food is good as is the service staff are friendly and the price is right

This place is fantastic, however when your out for food you expect great service and unfortunately twice we didn't receive this both at busy times/ but 1hr 15min wait for starter has put me of going to eat in again, Book and ask how busy this place is before you go to avoid disappointment, I'll stick to takeaways as food nice

Been going for years.never disappointed well worth the 7 course menu .value for money. There are plenty of Indian restaurants in Oldham but this one is definitely worth the visit.

Don't know what it is about Indian restaurants around Oldham but you find one that makes a decent meal for a few weeks and then they seem to fall back to a bland average standard. Sagor has been consistently good and spice levels are good and hot when you ask them to be, decent take away from them last week so fingers crossed back to good standard for long term

Visited with a group of friends,it was such a lovely relaxed evening we were in the restaurant for hours. The food was good and everyone commented and how nice the dishes were, the chicken curry was fab, served with rice. My hubby had a steak as he is not an Indian fan but he said the steak was nice. There was 6 of us, there for 5 hours plus lots of wine and beer and of course the food cost under £150.00 bargain. Staff really nice and pleasant nothing too much trouble even though it was a busy night. Parking is a bit of an issue if you cannot park outside, lots of traffic.If you like Indian food give it a try, it's a great place.

Have eaten here at least 15 times and the food and service has been good but went last night service was shocking flat drinks, slow then at end overcharged told flat wont return could not care less, curry places are 10 a penny they need to look after customers sadly these now don't.

visited this restaurant on a Friday evening with the wife and kids, was treated to a genuine warm welcome, they offer an meal deal 7 days a week for £10.95 which is any starter, main, rice, and naan and coffee (excludes prawn or steak)all our meals arrived promptly and were very flavoursome the venue itself is very clean and well presented with a few 4 seater boothsthere is no car park but you can park on the road after 6pm or on the side streetsa perfect curry house just like they used to be

Called in without a booking at 6pm on a Saturday, and immediately shown to a table. Restaurant was quite busy for the time of night, and plenty of telephone orders coming in. Food & drinks orders were taken, poppadums etc delivered straight away & starters arrived within 10 mins after, mains within 10 mins of finishing our starters. Lovely quality of food, attentive servers, excellent value for money. The manager is always great with the children, giving them a free mocktail at the end of the meal, we were given a free brandy for the gents and a 'Baileys' type drink for the ladies. All in all a very pleasant evening and obviously still very popular judging on the no of walk ins/takeaways. Definitely recommended

A party of ten, great food,excellent value. One of those where you can bring your own beer which keeps the cost down. Undoubtedly one of the best Jalfrezi with Saag Aloo I've ever eaten. Service was also excellent. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.

been visiting the sagor for many years, but tonight i came to the restaurant with my family and had our drinks, the main food was good to, 1 thing i have to say is that i was disapointed in, i heard the manager called LEE was talking about boys that he buys alcohol to get hes satisfaction to 1 of hes waiter, which he did not look more than 22 half hes age, i will not be going there no more, before i left the indian i finally asked that young waiter about wat lee said he did mention hes in to both kinds,

We've been coming here for years and our latest visit tonight was up to the usual high standards. Food hot, tasty and well presented and better than other Indian restaurants that we go to. Service good and friendly as it always is. Much better than the noisy food palaces that seem to be all the rage these days - you can still have quiet conversation without being drowned out by echoing shouted conversation and "music". We appreciate the "booths" down one sid of the restaurant where it is possible to feel reasonably secluded.

Visited Restaurant with my wife and 2 friends at the start of an evening out. The place was typically Indian in decor with friendly and attentive staff who were confident to recommend various dishes. The food was of a high standard, sensible portion sizes ( I hate going to an Indian restaurant that serves so much that half of it gets left.) and very flavoursome. The price for 4 people including beer and wine came to under £100. Very good value and definitely worth another visit

I visited the restaurant with my wife on returning from holiday. They have an exceptionally good deal where you can get 7 courses for £10.95. This includes poppadums, any starter, any main course etc. the restaurant was quiet (only us in) so not much atmosphere but the seating was comfortable and allowed a degree of privacy. Service was excellent and friendly, if anything a bit too fast. The food was good and plenty of it. My only criticism, and it is annoying, is that the advert boasts "anything off the menu included". However, there were extras such as 50p for lamb chops and 50p each for anything but plane naans. It was still excellent value but not very honest.

I cam here on the 23rd January for my sister's birthday, the staff and food was wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone. The prices are wonderful and worth the money. Also the staff kept us entertained. My sister says thank you for helping to organise her cake.

I'm writing this review before I eat my laptop, I've been waiting for my food nearly two hours! I phoned to ask where my order was to be told it will be out in 10 minutes. When I asked what my order was they said no. They're an embarrassment to themselves. Don't waste your time.

let me start with saying food was good, nothing spectacular but tasty. the problem is the waiters were acting like they wanted to kidnap my child!! shes 1.5 yeat old and they were grabbing her and taking with here near the restaurant door where i couldnt even see her!! i had to get up and walk after them asking to give me back my child !! they did that 3-4 times during our meal. creepy experience and im definitely not going back there ever. it was far from comfortable.

Went to the Sagor indian restaurant with my family , the food was excellent , service and staff made it a great experience , and the price was fantastic , 3 course meal , drinks , free brandy and coffee and for 7 people the bill was £ 80 , we will be returningvery soon , please don't forget to book

I would live here if I could it's that nice, I order or go in at least once a week. The staff make you feel like family when your in there. As it goes I'm waiting for my order while writing this.

I first ate at the sagor in 1988 when I moved a few streets away. It was excellent then and still is, although as over 20 years since I was last there, not sure if still the same owners, no matter, was scrumptious. There were 16 adults and 5 kids, and another biggish party in at the same time. Staff were very helpful, chatted to the children, didn't mind them getting a bit boisterous, joined in too! We had the 7 course special for £10.95. Poppadums etc, starter, main, rice/chips, naan, ice cream, coffee & mints, then baileys or brandy. What value. I had onion bhaji (3!) chicken jalfrezi and garlic naan, omg one of the best I have had, eaten in curry alley, Manchester, this was much better. Staff were very patient as everyone tried to remember what they had ordered, food came hot and well presented, even though it was very busy.

I went here with my girlfriend on a Friday evening, very busy we did have to wait for a table for 2 but we were not bothered as we had a drink each in hand and the conversation was flowing,we then were seated we both chose the £10.95 seven course meal starter poppadoms main rice desert coffee and a liquor so excellent value, the decor was a bit dark and dated but I wasn't bothered as the service was very friendly, I'd definitely go back again.

I have been to lots of establishments & this wins hands down for me, the area is not great but the building itself is & so are the staff, & the food is the best in Oldham look no further don't waste your money else where you gotta try this place. 10/10.

We ate here as part of a mini curry tour of the North West having read the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were definitely not disappointed. This is a great restaurant and a real find. We loved the traditional decor (call me old fashioned but I love a 'booth').The food was excellent and beautifully spiced.We could not fault it.The staff were really pleasant and the service was good.Great value - a real traditional curry house!Loved it!

I don't know what's gone wrong with the sagor after being a late convert despite living by it took me years to pay a visit. We had many decent meals there up until the back end of last year.... The food still tastes OK but it takes forever and I mean forever to arrive. The last time we ate in just over 2 hours for popps, starter a main and sides. We had a take away last weekend and that took nearly an hour to arrive and we had to chase it up after an hour to be told - the driver has just left - we only live 5 minutes down the road so it shouldn't have taken 25 minutes to arrive and everything was cold when it did. So while its well priced and tastes OK it just cant be relied on anymore I don't think ill go againThe sagoor

My other half had beeen here before and recomened it.. we were not disappointed. Fantastic food at a fantastic price, only criticism that i can give it is that they can be a bit intrusive rather than just leaving you to enjoy your food. We shall be visiting again though regardless

This is now my new favourite restaurant for Indian food. Every time we go we get a great welcome. Service is very good, waiters polite and attentive. The food is second to none, always of a high standard, put that together with the amazing value for money and well for us there is no comparison. Keep up the brilliant work!!!

I don't normally write reviews, my first visit to the Sagor pompted me to make a start. I went with some friends, wife and baby son and from the start the staff accommodated us warmly and very naturally. The waiters took turns in taking baby Sam for a walk around the restaurant keeping him busy while we enjoyed our food. The food was excellent and we went for a recommended 5 courses for GBP10.00 each, and had the 'any starter and any main course' option. Between the four of us, we managed to eat almost everything, but because it was so tasty rather than because it was a special offer. Not only will I go back, I'll recommend the place to friends too.

well i have been going here for quite a long time the food and service is always great. if asked they will make you a curry to your taste which always taste great :) sometimes they even offer me a free drink while i wait for my takeaway which no one can complain about. i have never been disappointed by the restaurant and i highly recommend it to others.

The curry houses in Oldham tend to be very overpriced for average quality food and fair-poor service.You could throw a blanket over the likes of Blue Tiffin (average on a good day) and Indish (OK but nothing special) and not find much difference and most change over charge because they have faux leather seats and fancy lighting.The sagor has had a face lift in recent years and despite the area surrounding area not being up to much the restaurant is tidy enough inside.Staff are friendly even when it’s busy but never over familiar.I have been probably 5-6 times now and the food is fresh and the dishes distinguishable. Tikka Masslas are creamy and slightly sweet while a Rogan Josh has a bit of heat with a peppery kick.They also deliver and I’ve had no complaints quality doesn’t seem to nose dive because you’re not eating in. The restaurant does an offer I think its 7 days a week where you can get Popadoms, starter, man, rice and a naan each for a tenner. You have to ask for the offer but its stupidly good value. Even at full price with an alcoholic drink or two you can still have the works for under £35 which is very good. Take the alcohol out and you could probably get it well under £30. I have had better curry in some places worse in many more -The sagor is a solid reliable option for a curry treat.

Prior visits to this curry house had always been nice......however the last visit left my husband being violently ill for a few days after. The chicken in his curry was uncooked, noticed after eating a few pieces. We complained and the dish was taken away and a new one made. Apology made, excuse new chef. Not good enough really.

Excellent service waiters could not do enough for you, the main reason to go here is the food absolutely first class and its not expensive you will not be dissapointed

Having been to many Indians in the borough we repeatedly find ourselves coming back to Sagor.Friendly staffGood atmosphereGreat drinks (the flaming brandys not for the faint hearted!)Excellent foodVery reasonably pricedIt doesn't matter if you eat in or have a take away from Sagor the same care and attention has always been taken with the preparation.The chicken chat-mossalla main and Nepalese chicken are a must for any curry lover.We've never heard a bad thing said about the place and have converted many of our friends who were die-hard fans of other local resteraunts.Give it a go and I'm sure you won't be disappointed :-)

The food at Sagor is amazing. They have an extensive menu with numerous chef's recommendations and house specials alongside the usual choice of curries. For this visit I chose the Vegetable Samber and my husband had an Afghani curry from the specials menu. Both dishes were excellent, nicely spiced and just the right size portions. We were offered a glass of wine each on the house though declined as we had been drinking the Cobra (available on draft). This didn't deter the waiters as when we had finished our meal they brought us a complimentary brandy and a Bayleys.

Had a chicken tikka rogan Josh and my partner had a chicken tikka madras! Both cooked to perfection probably the best curry we have had..... Ever! Quick service aswell for the busy period of the night! All in all it was an excellent choice would not hesitate to recommend
