Sage in Belfast

Best vegan food ever! Though it is a little pricey, completely worth it!

Horrible experience, the owner is such an obnoxious fella. Forget about women, doesn't know how to respect human beings.

Unfortunately Eat Street has now closed so I am taking down my photographs. We have eaten twice in Sage but cannot recommend it.

Tried on Too Good to Go. I thought the place was closed, no customers or staff so just stood there waiting. Got the food, owner stood over me while I was reviewing it on the To Good To Go app so I felt pressured to give a good one even though I hadn’t seen the food yet. Got the Veef burger and chips, not good. Wouldn’t pay full price at all.

Tried it on Too Good to Go and the food was inedible - had to bin it.

Just awful, for so many reasons. Avoid!

Really friendly staff and owner, very accommodating! The food was excellent! Can't get over how good cauliflower wings were. Would absolutely recommend!

Ordered for collection and the woman working there was shocked to see me. We engaged in some small talk, while the food was being prepared, and she asked if I lived close by, to which I replied I live in dundonald. She seemed to be shocked by this for some reason. Weird people and the restaurant looked like it was closed when I collected my order.

Ordered the chicken 'fillet' burger online, was over 25 mins late, and was basically a frozen fry's burger in a cheap white bun, the saddest soggy lettuce on it that somehow managed to be soggy yet chewy!. I never leave bad reviews as tbh honest I'm easily please, but I was so disappointed in this meal. Even the 'icecream' milkshake was just a tasteless block of ice.

Good food everytime but silly staff. Rang asking if had dessert left was told yes. Drove only 10mins to be told yeah its just sorbet left

We wanted to come try this restaurant as we are going to go vegan and wanted to try somewhere we could potentially go to in the future. We got here and there was no one in the restaurant (staff included). We tried to shout and waited a couple of minutes. Thought maybe they were working alone and needed to grab something. Came back after a few minutes and still no one there. Tried to ring the number for collections and deliveries on the door and no answer. Very disappointed and seeing as it was so empty I don't think it's good for their business to lose 3 customers!

Had high hopes for here after reading some reviews a few months before. Went here with a group of 3 and every meal ordered was not good, food was very poor yet very expensive. After such a bad experience I checked the reviews again only to find out that most reviews from the past 2 months have all been 1 star reviews. Whatever has changed definitely needs changed back to the way it was before

Very disappointing experience and it would be very rare I would leave reviews like this. It was part of a vegan dining experience and we all had to share tables which was ok as a chatty couple sat with us. The restaurant was freezing, everyone had to keep their coats on and there was a tiny domestic radiator to heat the whole place. All the 3 courses were cold and the plates were positively Baltic which I’ve never had before. It also took an hour for the starter and then the main to come out. The manager or owner seemed to just stand behind the counter and look at his phone and just all round an extremely unpleasant experience. Please heed both this and other reviews and go somewhere else as I really wanted to give them a chance even after reading the other negative reviews and save yourself £25!

Really awful food! I wanted to give it a try off Too Good To Go, and I can seriously say I’ll never be ordering from here again. I’m honestly not even sure what I received. It was this small cardboard box filled with soggy French fries, some wilted and mushy mixed vegetables (which I attached a photo of), and a couple of extremely greasy pieces of what I was assuming to be vegan falafel. Even when I first arrived, the man who I assumed was the owner tried to touch my phone and give himself five stars before I even got my food. Definitely glad I didn’t pay full price for the meal; it was inedible.

Very disappointing dining’ experience . The starter of deep fried cauliflower was great, but the main courses of falafel and their quarter pounder were dreadful, flavourless and under cooked . Accompanying salad was inedible, oven chips were cool and soggy. The person greeting you was also the ‘ cook’ The place was not heated. Sorry I hoped for so much more. Avoid if you care for good vegan food, a greggs vegan roll or Mac Donald’s veggie burger and chips I’m sure would be far better. Go to Jumon if you care about good veggie/ vegan !food

Great Vegan Food & Great Staff (When it was Eat Street)

I really wanted this place to be good because the Lisburn Road area was crying out for a nice vegan restaurant. I ordered the taglietele dish which promised "fresh pasta" in a "creamy sauce" with spring vegetables. What I got was pasta out of a packet so overcooked it was turning to mush, with no visible sauce whatsoever, and frozen mixed vegetables like the kind you get 1kg of at Iceland for £1. I was shocked and disgusted that anyone could have the audacity to charge almost £13 for this. The best item on the menu was the Bundaberg ginger beer, which probably cost them more than all the other ingredients combined (they were sold out of curiosity cola). The decor was trash. I won't be back

I would hate for this to be a non-vegan’s first exposure to vegan food. The food is very bad. Went with a group of 6, everyone ordered a different dish. I tried a bit of everyone’s and nothing was good. Unfortunate because I am vegan and want vegan restaurants to succeed, but management needs to change things here.

Restaurant empty at 7pm. Should have been our first clue. The reviews we read brought us there but I think this place has changed management. Food was not good. We eat at many vegan places and this was at the bottom. Chicken sandwich was like a microwavable morning star patty. French fries sub par. Charged if you wanted ketchup with your fries. Mac and cheese fair but not even warm. Falafel terrible. Vegan shake like chocolate milk with crushed ice. Would love to see them succeed but they will be closed in no time if they don’t improve food quality.

Absolutely brilliant wee vegan spot. We descended on the staff with a big crowd and they couldn't have been more welcoming. Food was delightful and very well priced. Can't recommend enough!!

Awful: Back when this was 'eat street', the restaurant was excellent. Now as 'Sage' there's a new menu and new chef etc and it is borderline inedible.

We had really enjoyed the three course lunch experience at Sage on the Lisburn Road, organised by Vegan Belfast Guide and were keen to sample the regular a la carte menu. Sage offers relaxed surroundings, knowledgeable, friendly service, and terrific, wholesome vegan fare. We chose a selection of starters to share tapas-style. Both the Cauliflower and Garlic Tofu bites were crispy and had a great chilli kick, and the Temphe Cajon goujons had a surprisingly meaty taste and texture. We thought the Beyond Meat burger, served with all the trimmings, was flavoursome and satisfying , and the in-house garlic mayonnaise was creamy and delicious! Next time, we must try Ash’s homemade “Beef-Outside” burger which came highly recommended. And to finish, we had the decadent caramel, coconut and chocolate ganache tart, and the “lively lemon” tart which was light, tangy and refreshing.

Hi. I have ordered from your restaurant three times. Each time there has been issues. One time you mixed up my reservation. The next time after that, you didn’t pick up the phone multiple times when I tried to call an order in. And for the third time, I was trying on deliveroo and you didn’t accept the order.I’m not sure if you’re aware of this but your service is generally very bad. I will not be ordering from you again.

Not good, really bad. And advise to everyone who want to work there- NEVER WORK THERE, I REPEAT NEVER. Never pay on time, and pay less as compared to standard rate. He always shout on the staff, especially on the womens.

We had a meal at Sage tonight - with high hopes for a great vegan dinner. I'm afraid the food was simply bad: overcooked pasta and tasteless sauce (mac and cheese); stale bap and strange patty in the burger; stale bread, and poor dressing on the falafel. I could have made better versions of these dishes at home. We couldn't get through more than half of our mains and the waitress graciously agreed to give us 50% off the bill. I'm writing this because I'd love restaurants Sage to be a success! but something needs to seriously change if it's going to last.

If you live near in Belfast, you must go to Sage. This cute little eatery on Lisburn road has gorgeous vegan food, great service and is BYOB. I dined solo at Sage whilst visiting Belfast for the weekend and was welcomed with open arms. The staff couldn’t do more for me and the other customers.

Amazing food, had the no pork baguette and it was some of the best fake pork I've ever eaten! Definitely go here

Sage is a fantastic vegan restaurant that it a must try for all and will really turn some heads to a different way of life. There is ample seating indoors and outdoors, prices are very reasonable and there's a great selection of hot/cold drinks, meals and deserts. Prices are very reasonable but bring cash as for a short time there card machine is out of order but there is an ATM nearby at Tesco's. We will definitely be back again for the pancakes and butter lattes.

At last found a nice place where it is no problem to eat vegan and glutenfree. Under new management since a few months, with new menus.

This place hit my V spot when I visited a couple of years back. Really pleasant food and the owner is very hospitable. I felt welcomed as a tourist. I would gladly eat here again were I to be anywhere remotely nearby.

Really friendly owners & wonderful food. I am happy that they have continued to do mainly vegan food. I had the vegan burger & chips. My mother opted for a non vegan meal & was delighted with her ribs. V family orientated & nice atmosphere whilst sitting in. Can't wait to try our vegan cheesecake & ice-cream while we get home!

They have very delicious vegetarian options, and friendly staff. I highly recommend “tofish and chips” i found it to be close to the real thing!

Ordered a collection a couple of days ago, added a request which was taken fully on board. Every dish was full of flavour and plentiful. The pulled porc burger and the Agave Chilli Garlic Chic-Kin starter were amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to hopefully eating in again next time.

An unsuspecting little gem. Nothing swanky inside but the food is seriously tasty, entirely vegan and large portions. It’s also BYO which is a plus! Perfect spot for vegans looking for no frills, affordable, and epic fast food style cooking.

Full vegan menu! In Belfast! Brilliant spot for those on a plant based diet and looking to explore it. Wide range of choice and great menu. Big portions and tasty, rich food. Unfortunately a little cold, but ok when we asked to move seats. Didn't have the dessert that I wanted, but hopefully will someday be back

Amazing to have a brilliant vegan cafe/restaurant in Belfast. Great menu- and delicious food. Only minus is it’s lack of atmosphere...could do with funky wallpaper or something to ‘lift it’ interiors wise (but definitely come and support this vegan venture and enjoy the food!!)

Great place with yummy food 😋 On Sunday they have a vegan buffet 😍 Pâté, soup, beef slices in gravy, fried crispy chilli tofu and lots more. Also, the dessert was included with the buffet which super delicious. Definitely going back for more and more! Staff were super welcoming and friendly

This was my 1st experience of a vegan restaurant. I went with my friend Donna who has been vegan for a while now. We had the Christmas lunch menus Pate Turkey and ham and. Pudding It was absolutely beautiful and the waitress was excellent The food was freshly prepared and piping hot Really extensive menu but I really enjoyed my choices Would highly recommend If I had one criticism it would be the hearing It could have been slightly warmer Still giving it 5 stars!!!

Vegan restaurant with an interesting menu containing a lot of variety , I didn’t unfortunately enjoy my Buddha bowl, it lacked seasoning/flavour but my partner absolutely loved the seitan chicken burger he had so would give the place another chance. The interior could do with an update. Our server friendly and made the experience a really pleasant one overall ☺️

Amazing Vegan food! So much flavour and choice with lovely drinks aswell. Usually vegan options in restaurants aren't great but this is something else 😁 I would definitely recommend this place to anyone vegan or not as my husband who isn't vegan really enjoyed it aswell and the price isn't bad either. My new favourite restaurant

Amazing food! Healthy and filling. Myself and my partner both had the Bac'n cheeze burger. Lovely decor and very friendly staff i would definitely eat here again 😁 We had two mains and drinks and for the size of the portions it was only £22!! Brilliant to see alternative meat options and excellent service to match.

Amazing food and amazing service. Partner and I have been vegetarian for quite a while and have no seen or been to anywhere in multiple countries that do stuff the way it's done here, the food was excellent prompt service and lovely server, cheap price to boot.

Best meal I've ever had, being a vegetarian I'm used to the usual curry or lasagne options and to be honest I was never excited about going for a meal due to lack of choice. At eat street the whole menu is vegan and the food is amazing!!!! Will be back again!!!

Great food, friendly staff and good value

For such a small place it has quite a large menu. But given the picky vegan/vege clientele that's a good thing. The food was great and the deserts were incredible. Staff were really friendly and the prices were great. Definitely be back.

Lovely comfortable cafe in Belfast with plenty of parking close by. I started with the sausage roll which was full of taste. Then had the special which was a very tasty burger. Would recommend and would return next time I’m in Belfast.

I can see that this place is very popular and others seem to love the food, but I honestly had a bad experience with it. I've tried 4 things off the menu and 2 separate desserts, and honestly did not find them worth the price. some of the food was okay, but the desserts were so...strange. I had a brownie that was super dry and bland, and a cheesecake that had really weird textures. I love that you do only vegan food, it's rare I can pick anything off the menu, but I am sorry to say that the quality of the food really doesn't match the price

This was my first visit to Eat Street and my first entirely vegan restaurant and I loved every bite! In fact the tofurkey was so good I ordered a portion of it with the stuffing and 'ham' for my actual Christmas day dinner! The food is amazing and it's really good value. The staff are lovely too, very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is small but perfectly formed and the bathroom is very clean and I loved the décor of the whole place. I can't wait to go back! I had the 'goats cheese' and beetroot salad, the tofurkey dinner and the 'banoffee pie' for dessert and we got some cupcakes to take home
