Saffron Tandoori in Rochford

Went here with my partner started our poppadoms me being very disabled went to the toilet and got asked to leave they thought I was drunk I had my crutches with me I tried to explaine but they was so rude it's really upset me my advice never go there if your disabled as for the food never got that far to try it

Disappointing. The food here is usually great. Ordered via just eat and was prepared to wait because it was a Saturday night. Unfortunately, it took over 2 hours. The app pushed it back. When the order finally arrived, the food was stone cold. Called the restaurant as directed by the just eat App and was advised to call just eat. Just eat have no numbers I could find in the app. Googled just eat only to find the automated number cut you off even if you said you were a customer or the restaurant

rice was nice. korma cold and very watery and only 6 pieces of chicken bits. barjees cold so was bombay potatoe . won't be ordering again

Unfortunately food was cold and we had to microwave, other than that tasted ok.

Lovely food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere

Can't fault the staff, as very friendly. However I'm a big lover of salt and found all the dishes overpowered by it. My husband who doesn't have much salt because of blood pressure had to leave all of his. I found the salt content so high that the next day I had a headache and was drinking copious amounts of water. As I said I love salt. The place is lovely and the staff friendly though.

Still the best Indian around. If you’re looking for quality food that’s value for money this is the place to go. Friendly staff and the bottles of kingfisher/bangla/cobra are ice cold!! I had the mixed grill for a change was best I’ve ever had.

Not very good. First time I’ve ordered from here. And as for the Tandoori Sabzi it was disgraceful. £4-95 for a very small piece of broccoli. An even smaller pepper. 2 slices of small carrot. A little bit of onion and about half a mushroom. Looked like leftovers. Don’t think I’ll be ordering again. Sorry

We ordered for my daughters birthday and we were very disappointed about her main meal and the dish she revived was not as expected if was £4 I think for a leg of chicken that was mainly bone and fat no chicken to actually eat she could there for not eat as she has a phobia of eating bones We rang The restaurant to ask for a refund as says nothing about having bones in and said food quality was good they said they would refund but I needed to bring the bone to them. This was not possible as I do not drive and nor did him the way and customer service here was unacceptable he was quite rude in the end I gave up and he hung up mid call Not coming back here

Such a shame. The food was really good but had gone slightly cold. This is of no fault of the Saffron as when I called they stated they were waiting for a driver. Really confused that the app showed my food delivered at 20:30 hrs even though it was not even on route!

Been to the Saffron twice and on both occasions it was a pleasant experience, the food is good - although the portions are smaller than average, which may not be a bad thing as we did not waste any - the prices are definitely more reasonable than other local Indian restaurants I've been to, and the staff are very nice and welcoming. The only downside was that we didn't have much room on our round table and I could not push the chair back as there was no room to do so, this was a small gripe but all in all a very nice restaurant and I shall be returning.

Always liked the food you get from the saffron, can't think of a bad meal from there, so very happy to order from there!

Best restaurant in Rayleigh, delicious menu.

As a vegan this was really lovely. It is hard to find a variety of delicious options at times for Indian cuisine with these dietary requirements, it was nice for once to have an alternative of a dish I used to have growing up; a lovely chicken tikka masala. The alternative 'chicken' was soft and the sauce you would not be able to tell the difference. I look forward to trying the other vegan chicken and lamb options.

The food was cold when it arrived and took a long time to arrive. The Naan bread, onion Bhajis, and portions of rice were much smaller than in the past. The samosas were greasy; overall not as good as this restaurant used to be, we won’t use it again as there are other good Indian takeout restaurants in Rayleigh.

I am so disappointed with my takeaway last night. The estimated delivery time was 8.05pm- 8.25pm but the food didn’t ultimately arrive to 9.10pm!! There was no update on the app and I had to phone twice and to be honest I felt that I was being fobbed off. When I called the first time they said it would be another 10-15 minutes but that wasn’t the case. I called again at 9pm and told 5-6 minutes. Still not the case. When the food ultimately arrived it was luke warm at best. The chicken tasted burnt and was very chewy. I ordered 2 poppadoms and got about 7 but they didn’t taste fresh, they were chewy. I also had a second nann bread thrown in- luckily I checked what it was as it was a keema nan and I don’t eat lamb! I am so disappointed at the service and quality of food. This is the only Indian restaurant I have used since moving back to Rayleigh in 2021. Unless this issue is rectified I will not be ordering from here again. I expect to get a full refund. I would never have ordered the food if I knew it would take so long and the quality be so poor.

Simply it was good food delivered quickly to a Premier Inn, save the day.

Eaten there, and had take aways from this restaurant for over 30 years, can't fault the food, and great portions to, lamb jalfrezi is a must!!

Driver was polite; arrived when it should. However, meal itself was not good. Chicken mega dry and sauce/masala was very runny. Was so thin, it was dripping off the chicken as id pick it up. Shame

Food was awful 😖 No way near what we have eaten in the restaurant. Korma sauce like water with barely any chicken, bhuna was greesy and floating in oil, onion bajees tasted off. Will definitely not be reordering.

I was definitely disappointed with the korma it was not right. The sauce was more like watery. Didn’t taste right. Which made me worry about the quality of the rest of it really. Pretty disappointing to be honest. I’ve had takeaway from you before and it was lovely but not happy today. I’ve also eaten in your restaurant before and that was lovely. So it was not good.

It was my mum an dads 51 st anniversary so I bought them an Indian. Thay said it was absolutely 💯 lovely 😊. Thanku. Xx

The estimated delivery time is nothing like the actual time and unfortunately I found this out after checking some time later on the app. No advise given in the confirmation email.

Cold slop ........ that I waited 2 hours for !!! Marked as received on the app however not received, had to call the restaurant to be told a driver has not been delegated but they use there own driver?..... poor quality of food ,wrong nan bread received and prawns where chewy !!!!!! I won't be coming back,

Group of 4 had an excellent meal here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great food with the only minor grumble being the naan bread size and type.

We’ve had good meals from this restaurant before and we like eating in. However, not only did it take nearly 90 minutes for the food to be delivered, but it was all cold. After we had the starters we reheated the rest in the oven. Shame.

Food was hot and on time. Aloo gobi tasted very strange and could not eat it. Lamb bhuna was fatty and had no flavour. Onion bhajis were soggy.

Booked a table for 10 of us on a Monday evening. Upon arrival we was greeted with a warm welcome by friendly staff. Drinks orders taken and swiftly brought over, we then ordered our food. The food was lovely! All cooked fresh, flavoursome and hot. Servers were attentive. A few of us also ordered desserts and coffees. We will definitely return as it was so nice, friendly and welcoming. Have always had a great meal from this indian restaurant but tonight this fell way below the usual service. Not very good at all.

Came here saturday for a nice meal out with friends. There was 5 of us so we ordered poppadoms,10 of them.They came out after about 5 minutes and they was awful.When you break a poppadom they usually crack in half,no these didnt.They was obviously stale because they just ripped into pieces.They took them away and brought out new ones but these was only slighly better than the 1st lot.REALLY YOU CANT MAKE THEM FRESH.The mains all came out and one of my lot said hes was the best indian meal he has ever had,he loved it.Then another shocker happened,the galic nan bread was stone cold,not even tepid.Also my coconut rice didnt even taste of coconut.It is cheaper here than the other one i usually go to up the road but would i come back again,probably not,didnt even ask us if everything was ok with our food

Went here on a Friday evening. Restaurant was busy with a nice atmosphere. Service was good and food was excellent. Definitely on the up and is now my favourite Indian restaurant in Rayleigh.

This was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had I've never really been to this place before but we was in rayleigh so we thought we would try this place I was amazed by the food it was all so beautiful even down the the lime pickles The service was spot on everything was perfect really I can see why this is the top Indian in rayleigh I've been to a few different Indians lately but I will be coming back here every time now

I ordered in advance with a few hours notice, and was delivered right to my hotel room door, rather than be called outside etc... the lamb was lovely and tender and spiced wonderfully. I was only staying locally with work and the hotel had no chef.

We ordered chicken korma, chicken bhuna, prawn puri, chicken masala and coconut naan and it was all delicious, good quality and all nice and hot.

I have lived in Rayleigh for many years but never visited this restaurant until recently. I have been missing out. What wonderful food and atmosphere, friendly service and very good value for money. I will definitely be going again soon.

Monday night we both agreed we had the best Indian Meal that we have ever had. We ate in and it was just delicious. The tastes were exquisite and my mouth is now watering thinking about it. I would highly recommend the King Prawn Suprise and the Amiri Pilau Rice. Wow fantastic!

I had not used The Saffron for around 18 or so years, no particular reason, other than I used to go with work colleagues but no longer work locally. My wife and I met up with another couple who use The Saffron regularly so we went with their choice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Firstly the service, which was very friendly and attentive and above all prompt. As for the food, it was excellent. I p,upped for the old favourite, Chicken Tikka and this was trendy, juicy and full of flavour, probably the best I have had. My main course of Chicken Zalwala was delicious , full of flavour and very spicy. In addition the portions are in my opinion the right size, not too big but more than enough. My wife and friends all enjoyed their meals too to the point that we will be back. The bill for four, including poppadoms, 3 courses and a couple of drinks each was just short of £35 a head which represented tremendous value for money.

Usually not many complaints from this restaurant but chicken in dansak was well overcooked and tough.

Have eaten in the restaurant many times and had good meals. Have had orders from here many times and has been good. This order was relatively slow to be delivered. Big issue was it was cold. Was awful. Totally spoilt meal and doubt will order from here again if not put right. Such a shame.

Food was lovely but disappointed onion Bhajees didn’t come with usual salad, onion and dip which other Indian takeaways provide.

We started going to the Saffron last year after a gap of about 15 years and it is a very different experience these days to the run-of-the-mill restaurant it used to be. The food is really good here and we haven't been disappointed at all - I would recommend the Lal Maas for those who like things spicy and the Chilly Mushroom stir fry is also delicious. The fish dishes are invariably beautiful and the chicken tikka is as good as any I have had. The service is always good and most of the time, they offer us a little liquor to finish off.

Food took an hour and 45 mins to be delivered and was cold.

Lovely food! The Prawn Biryani and Chicken Dansak was super tasty! Only comment would the vegetable curry with the biryani was quite bland and not much veg this time. Still thoroughly enjoyed our meal! 🙏🏻
