Saffron Indian Restaurant in Northampton

I have had about 8 takeaways via just eat from Saffron and I cannot fault them . The quality is consistently excellent and delivery is always quick , on top if that you get 30% discount which is an added bonus 😁 I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

The food was burnt (see picture) the chicken was rubbery, when I complained I was given a spiel about the chicken being cooked in a marination and so this is normal despite mentioning I was from the same heritage and this is not how food is cooked. The poppadoms were offered complimentary at the begining only to find at tje time of settling the bill we had been charged at the end. We were not allowed to order one dish between 2 people as a minimum spend which having eaten in maddhus and Indian restaurants this has never been the case. The service was poor and food/culterlt was spilled on us at the table. Finally they almost declined the BLC discount despite this being clear on their website and didn't really discount the food. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, spend extra and head to MK if your local to northampton reigon.

Ordered for 730pm delivery. Had a knock on the door at 653pm. No where near ready to receive the food and eat. Driver states they ring if its going to be early but we have had no contact. Made a call to them to complain to be told they are busy and that's why it's early. So why wasn't it put behind the next order. Man on the phone was rude. Only put 1 star as can't post without it

Small but nice Bangladeshi/Indian restaurant. Lovely food to suit all tastes. Go on a Wednesday and get the buffet option - starter, main,side for just £14 (at time of writing). Very chipper, comedic maitre d'. I had the mango chicken which was lovely.

Went for a family meal for a birthday, the food was average but sadly the bill was way more than we had expected. Over priced for what it was. We've been to many Indian restaurants in Northampton over the years and had many excellent meals and experiences but Saffron wasn't one of them. Just an added note, you respond to your many positive reviews however there are no responses to the less positive ones, would you not like to address your dissatisfied customers concerns/issues?? High prices for average food, I'll stay home and order in next time!!

This place is a hidden gem! Just had the lamb vindaloo and it was incredible. Perfectly balanced heat with complex flavors, the lamb cooked to perfection. Great portion size too, left me happily satisfied.

Came here for a date night and it was wonderful. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service attentive without being intrusive. We shared a vegetarian selection and everything was so fresh and flavorful. A real treat!

Excellent takeaway experience! Ordered online for a night in and everything arrived piping hot and beautifully packaged. The butter chicken was a winner, the sauce silky smooth and the chicken melt-in-your-mouth tender. Generous portion of rice too!

Been wanting to try this place for ages and finally made it tonight. So glad I did! The peshwari naan was the best I've ever had - light, fluffy, and packed with sweet coconut. My palak paneer was divine, perfectly creamy and the paneer like little pillows of cheesy goodness.

Perfect for a family meal! The kids loved the chicken korma, it was just the right level of spice for them. We adults enjoyed the chef's special which was a real showstopper, full of unique and exciting flavors. Great value for money as well.

Regularly eat here when we are in town. Always made to feel extremely welcome by all the staff as soon as we arrive. Great selection of Bangladeshi foods have never left feeling hungry. The mango chicken takes some beating. Not to mention they have an extensive range of gins.

A true taste of India! The menu offers a wide range of regional specialties, something for everyone. I had the Goan fish curry and it was incredible, the coconut milk adding a lovely creaminess and the fish cooked to perfection. A real taste sensation.

Wow! The best samosas I've ever had. Light, crispy pastry filled with a perfectly spiced potato and pea filling. The accompanying chutneys were delicious too, a real flavor explosion. A great start to what I'm sure will be a fantastic meal.

Delicious food, great service (thank you Mr Rahman), in this beautiful restaurant. The Bangladeshi Chicken and Mango was more than I could eat. Cubes of chicken in sauce, slices of mango - what's not to like! My friend had Lamb Passandra, another Bangladeshi dish, which had the most delicious sauce and slices of tender lamb. I look forward to future visits.

My wife and I decided to visit Saffron for a pre-theatre supper, dining at 6pm. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, in particular the general manager, who showed us to our table and was attentive the entire time we were there. The restaurant itself is very-well presented and exudes an air of quality without being 'stuffy'. It is clearly very popular locally because by the time we left just after 7pm, it was full. We opted to have a main course only, plus a couple of side dishes. The only real challenge was deciding what to have because every dish sounded great. I chose a chicken dish which was described as a healthy option because it didn't come with a sauce. Nevertheless, it was still very moist and delicious - a good choice. My wife chose achari lamb - absolutely lovely! These were accompanied by a very tasty saag aloo and an equally-taste daal dish which my wife enjoyed so much, she asked for a doggy bag so she could finish it for lunch the next day! Add to this the generous size of the glassess of wine my wife had (I was driving), and we came away two very happy (and very full!) customers. Small warning: Saffron is very much not your 'run of the mill' curry house, so just be prepared for a bigger bill But it's worth every penny.

Very disappointing if you are a vegetarian. My husband and I each had one of the vegan options and with your eyes closed you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them. A bland, non spicy generic sauce with some vegetables/lentils thrown in. The onion bhajis were bland but were a nice texture, the vegetable samosas were ok and the peshwari naan was stodgy. The tarka daal was lovely!! I had a beer and my husband had a soda and lime and the total bill was over £70 which was extortionate. Needless to say we will not return.

Saffron is the ‘go to’ Indian restaurant for my myself and family members. Was here again last night with my son for pre-theatre dinner. Very clean and tastefully decorated with a very nice ambience. The food is always very tasty and served in a timely manner. The whole team are very polite, friendly and welcoming, service as it should be which is sadly lacking in many other restaurants. A special mention for Rana Rahman who is always very witty and entertaining! Thank you Saffron !!!

A genuine 5 star experience. A little pricey but the food and the service was exceptional. Rana the manager made us very welcome and even made us an aubergine side dish which was a highlight. The menu is interesting with some novel dishes. They can also make things that may not appear on the menu. Nice fresh herbs and spices. One of the best overall Indian meals. Would recommend for a special occasion. Lovely friendly staff.

I have been eating Indian food in Northampton for 35 years. So decided to try this Restaurant being advertised as Northampton's best Indian I was very disappointed. Chicken Tikka was yellow and tasteless unlike any I have had before. The Madras Curry was just hot with no flavour at all . Chicken Tikka masala was watery cold and Chicken was tuff. Mushroom rice was great. But that is the only good thing I have to say. Also very expensive. £73 for 3 meals.

We walked in as a family at 10:30pm, closing time is 11:30pm. The guy at the bar was quite rude as if he has to pay to let us in. The food was the worst ever Bangladeshi food I have tried in the UK. We were a Indian family and despite ordering just enough for us we left the food because it tasted stale. I wonder how they served us the food within 5 mins of the order, we ordered from chefs specialities. Overall double priced bangladeshi (not Indian) food probably fit for English pallets only.

We always get takeaway from here, quick delivery, excellent food and helpful staff. Highly recommend!

I recently went to dine here with a friend and let’s just say this will be the first and last time I go to this place. The pricing of the food is ridiculous for example a naan bread and pilou rice are £6 each and their portions are tiny! When mains are priced on average of £17 for a standard curry is not worth it at all. As for the service, the staff are very blunt but very pushy when it comes to tea/coffee/desserts in the end like they couldn’t take no for an answer the first time they have to ask over and over again..overall the food had many faults and the staff think they are something special when they are a standard typical Indian restaurant :)

Got Uber eats tonight and all can say I'd this isn't the same saffron it was 6 months ago food was barely hot, rice overcooked, naan extremely dry and chewy! The masala had barely any sauce flavour was also questionable really disappointed! Will be going to elsewhere in the future for out Indian food

Visited this place for a work meal Where to start ... Let's start with the service walked in, and the manager had a face and attitude on. The waiter likes to think he is a comedian and is not funny what so ever, if anything confused the order and wasted time. Now let's start on the food We ordered a variety of 8-9 dishes Not 1 dish was nice in taste or flavour !! Was absolutely gutted how poor the food quality is and how Limited the menue is, after a very long time I have been to a place to eat with such poor food taste and quality. Very very small portion which are ridiculously over priced ! The naan was tiny and again really poor quality not fluffy as a naan should be. The tikka masala has coconut milk in it ? The jalfrezi is just a normal masala with a bit of veg thrown in The chef doesn't even know 5he ingredients to the curries The rice was soggy and flavourless I didn't have one thing that actually tasted nice I would not recommend this place to anyone This is the most honest review I could give about this place

Just tried this place for the first time, and I must say it's the best curry I've had in a long time—really tasty! We ordered a Chicken Tikka Madras and a Chicken Tikka Rogan Josh.
