No había café o postre ofrecido.

Be careful!

Owner has not changed for 15 years and although decoration wise it could do with a refresh, it's cosy and most importantly has excellent food and staff are really nice. They have some fantastic fish curry's which is a Bangladesh speciality but all the food is lovely. With two large beers, starter and main never spent more then £30 per head and that's including a healthy tip .You pay for what you get, eaten at many others in brick lane over the years but this is my favourite by far. Definitely worth a visit, proper east end Indian,

Thought I'd pop in for a curry even though it was empty. Staff didn't seem verb motivated to serve me however and considering the place was empty I still had to ask someone to actually come and take my order! The chicken chat starter was Luke warm and the consistency of the chicken was weird. Not sure whether the meat simply wasn't cooked enough or they use the cheapest chicken they can find. The chicken Madras main course was bland with again, the same odd texture chicken. For a madras it was bland. And because they didn't bring out any hot plates the food got cold really quickly too. Quite honestly it's one of THE worst currys I've ever had. Plus they have the cheek to add on a 20% service charge and didn't want to take a credit card as payment either - only wanted cash! Dodgy food. Dodgy bill paying practices. Do your self a favour and try one of the many other Indian restaurants in this area. Needless to say I won't be returning to this place.

After too many we are the best we stopped running the gauntlet and entered the Saffron.Uhm!Food average, staff average, place average and price for 5 starters, 5 main meals and 5 beers close to £120. My local Indian restaurant is high quality on all counts, cooks excellent food and costs my wife and I £38 for similar fare. This place needs to up its game on all fronts with the exception of the front door salesman who got us in.

This is Brick Lane, you broker a deal.Me and my mate were approached by the waiter guy outside, and we told him we wanted a starter, garlic nan, pint of larger, rice and a curry for a tenner and that's exactly what we got. It was good, not fantastic but for the value is was great and it was decent service, in a pleasant restaurant.ONE GOLDEN RULE OF BRICK LANE! Arrange the number of drinks before hand. You can say one pint, two pints etc..for a second pint it's usually 12 pounds instead of 10 so work it out before. If you order off your set menu agreement you'll be charged silly money so remember, arrange the exact meal in the deal including any extras of food and especially drinks. It might be awkward but it's part of the fun of it and the culture of Brick Lane. Just guard yourself against being charged for additionals and it's a great value decent curry.

Myself and my partner had just finished a Jack The Ripper tour and were cold, hungry and both fancied a curry. We knew Brick Lane was our best option so headed that way and were greeted by someone outside offering us 20% discount if we chose their restaurant. I wasn't too impressed with the poppadums and chutneys but the mains that we ordered were lovely........I'm a creature of habit (some may say boring) and always have the same dish which I couldn't see on the menu so I asked and they made it for me off menu and it was one of the best I have tasted. My partner enjoyed his too. none of the desserts looked particularly appetising but Indian desserts never do! The service was good and I felt the cost was reasonable (£40 for 2 mains, rice, naan bread, sag aloo, bhajees, poppadums and drinks). Thought we may have to remind them about the 20% discount but it was there on our bill......happy days!

We popped in here on a recent visit to London, at the instigation of one of the waiters who was hanging about outside. There was nobody on the street, it was late January and most of the restaurants were empty, including this one. We ordered Tandoori chicken, lamb jalfrezi, rice and were asked if we wanted pappadams. We should have refused - they seem to have charged us £1 Sterling for each pappadam we ate. The Tandoori chicken was undercooked, which my visually impaired husband didn't notice until I pointed it out to him - by then he'd eaten half of it. The serving spoons had been left on the cast metal part of the dish and I burned my hand when picking them up, only to have the waiter remonstrate with me for leaving the spoons in the wrong place!!!! When we got our bill, by which time we were pretty fed up with the place, having had a mediocre and badly cooked meal, they charged us £65 which included a "service charge" of £5. That's damned expensive compared to prices in Dublin and elsewhere in London - never again. Steer clear of Saffron!!!

My friends and I were drawn to this place because they DID NOT have one of those churlish "touts' outside. However, as soon as we started perusing their menu, the guy in charge came outside and guaranteed us a great meal, "or you don't pay". We never got that far.Our "early eats" (Mulligatawny Soup, Tikka Panner) were so-so at best, but the service was below abysmal. If we'd had to remind our server any more about our orders, we might as well have done his job for him. The place wasn't packed and the patrons already there were in mid-meal, yet somehow our server preferred to busy himself playing with glasses and stuff behind the bar rather than bring us our drink order. It took nearly 20 minutes to get served a watered-down drink and some mineral water. When the soup and Tikka Panner finally arrived, further disappointment came with them. The Tikka Paneer was four small, sad pieces (For £4) and one of us got his soup. The server said nothing about the missing soup order, so we reminded him. After a lengthy wait of several minutes, the other soup arrived. By then we'd decided not to order any "Mains" and get the hell out of this pathetic establishment swiftly. I can only recommend "Saffwrong" to someone who wants to experience what dining in one of Hell's inner rings is like.

I fairly regularly visit Brick lane for a curry and a couple of drinks with my friends and always negotiate with the tout outside ( as there is for every restaurant in this street ) to get an idea of the price. This one was £12 per person for 3 course meal and a beer. There was 6 of us so - £72.We only got two courses. We did have a couple of extra dishes, sag-alloo etc and 4 more beers between us ( not each ) than the one we had agreed on outside. The bill came to £180 - so £108 more than agreed. That makes 4 beers and a couple of extra dishes very expensive indeed.I explained the error of their ways to them and the bill came down very quickly to £114. Still more than expected but reasonable. The food was OK, the table was in a pokey room upstairs. The people at the table next to us were also disputing their bill so it seems to be a theme to try and cheat customers. I hate cheats. They won't get my or my friend's custom again. There are plenty of restaurants down Brick Lane so just choose another.

Wandering down Brick Lane of an evening can be a little over-whelming - finding somewhere for a decent curry was what we were after. I really do wish we'd looked further than this place, £44 spent on a meal that I really did not enjoy. Firstly, the host/waiter hustled us in off the street with the promise of discounts/free drinks/etc. As there were quite a few people in already eating, we decided to go in. From then on in, the staff were unwelcoming, rude and dismissive. We ordered starters - soup and chicken chaat - both of which were standard both in terms of taste and presentation. No salad with the chaat - or any sign of mint yoghurt. The main courses were also plain and I really didn't enjoy mine. We had two beers and a half. On the cheque they had the ordacity to put a service charge on of £5.60!! We said we wouldn't pay it and he did agree to take it off. I couldn't believe it - what service had they even offered us?!! The staff are only interested in getting you in - once you're in they couldn't give a toss about you. The whole experience has totally put me off Brick Lane. In future, i'll probably stick to the West End.My advice - avoid this place at all costs! Check Trip Advisor before you set foot in this place - you have been warned!

Last night my family and I found ourselves in Brick Lane and after lots of deliberation chose to enter this restaurant. I'm not usually tempted by the barrage of offers of discounts and free drinks and tend to rely on the look of the place and other factors. However, the guy from the Saffron did say upon entering that they would give us a 25% discount and a free round of drinks - not the deciding factor but relevant to this review as you will see.So, after a round of half-pint Kingfishers being served (with enough space in the top of the glass to add a double scotch after the head died down...) we ordered our food. What arrived was not great. A very watery murgh masala with barely any chicken (one or maybe two lumps!). The rest was pretty mediocre. There were six of us and three of our party decided to share one or two mains, although they had plenty of side dishes. We were told immediately and somewhat rudely that the restaurant could not honour its offer of a discount and that they would have to charge for the drinks. When the bill came up at £110 we were amazed. We only had a second round of the half pints (more like a quarter). So that's basically less than six pints of lager, 4 mains, three rice and some sides for over £100. The papadums cost £10 and a service charge was added. Queried the bill but the guy clearly wasn't going to give way so we left in disgust. This is not how to treat customers. Can't believe we spent that much and I left feeling hungry. That's a first for me after leaving an Indian restaurant. As I say, avoid at all costs - a very disappointing experience!

The venue - Appears to have not been refurbished since 1970, very dark and old inside, furnishings out dates. The entire place needs refurbishing. The food - Nothing to write home about, curries were watery and lacked flavour. The staff - waiters - friendly enough and service was quick BUT, be weary of the people outside on the door who offer you deals to get you in (please see below)'The Brick Lane Con' - It's important to ignore any claims of awards that these restaurants have, such as 'Best Chef 2013' or 'Best Indian Restaurant 2012'..most are fabricated and those that aren't normally issued to a member of staff who more than likely no longer works there. Now for this restaurant in particular (although all Brick Lane restaurants do this..) They offer you a deal before going into the restaurant, you will be pestered as you walk up and down Brick Lane with each restaurant competing with each other. Typically the deal would be a starter, main, naan bread and two drinks for around 10/11. If after reading this review you choose to go to Saffron, do not say yes to Poppadoms when offered, unless you want to pay 5 per portion. They will also add a NON DISCRETIONARY service charge to the bill, at a rate of 15%...so suddenly the cheap deal you were offered becomes a lot more expensive. They also lock the door in this restaurant, just in case you refuse to pay, there is no way out unless they let you out.

We were quite happy since this is pretty good for a NYE deal. We both had the mixed starter which was a samosa, a onion bhaji and tikka chicken. It was all very tasty and the chicken was so tender! The raita dip we had was gone within minutes! We then had our main, my partner had a spycy chicken jal-frezi, mixed meat rice and vegetable stuffed naan. He says the rice and curry was great but the naan was very greasy and just kind of fried bread. I had the king prawn korma, mixed vegetable rice and garlic naan. It was not king prawns in my curry, but small shrimps instead. It was still a great meal though! For dessert we had ice cream, which was one small scoop (if you can call it that). Now we had though we would only pay £30 since that was the deal, but they added a cheeky 12.5% service charge on top. We tried in vain to get away but were ultimately persuaded to eat at Saffron with the promise of a free drink each and 25% off the final bill. First impressions are the restaurant is very small and the staff are polite and efficient. The complementary wine is either very cheap or watered down, or both. But then it is free... Food, I had tandoori chicken masala which was mostly sauce but otherwise ok. The curried potatoes were quite nice. My wife had lamb madras, the sauce was a bit too oily but the lamb was soft which she liked. We shared one rice and had a naan each. When the bill came we were charged £27 including discount which seemed reasonable.

We were served by an older man who was also friendly, asking us where we were from. It did turn out that the two free drinks was actually one can of beer poured into two half pint glasses but we weren't too bothered. Dinner was average, no better than the food you would get from your local takeaway. We had asked for poppadoms and had some yoghurt and mint sauce placed on our table, after about 10 minutes two girls came in for dinner and our sauce was swiftly removed and put on their table! Overall we had 2 poppadoms and some naan bread with our offer and it came to £25. We picked this place based on the three-course lunch menu, which, though limited, seemed good value. The food was fine, though nothing special. Foolishly, we asked for drinks: one large beer, one coke (cheap stuff from a plastic bottle) and one plain lassi. When the bill came, we had an unpleasant surprise. The drinks section was not itemised; we knew how much the beer was, but the rest of the drinks charge implied that the coke and the lassi - which came in small glasses - were about £4 each. These drinks had not been on the menu and you could argue we should have asked the price before ordering. I would counter that you do not expect to be ripped off so comprehensively. With the service charge thrown in, we paid as much as might be expected in much smarter place in the West End. Beware.

We had enjoyed the "Alternative" Tour of the east-end and gravitated back to Brick Lane for a late lunch. Many choices and for no particular reason - except it looked nice inside - we chose Saffron. My partner is not a big fan of Indian food, but was delighted with the slightly sweet and creamy chicken curry. I had the spicy lamb and even my spice-wimp partner had a couple of bites. Prices were fair, since it was the lunch menu and the waiter even accommodated my request for a half a glass of beer to finish the meal.

I go to this restaurant three or four times a year, I was first drawn to it because it won a vegetarian restaurant award and I now go back regularly. The staff are always welcoming, the prices very reasonable and the food always of an excellent standard. Highly recommended.

Nice enough place and said it took Taste Card on website but they would not hounour the discount which made it was a bit pricey - offered a lunch deal but then slapped a service charge on top which frankly did not reflect the service or quality of food. Expect to be a bit ripped off as a tourist but this literally left a bitter taste in the mouth and metaphorically in the pocket

Chose this restaurant randomly while walking down Brick Lane. Was not disappointed. To the contrary, the owner was extremely accomodating, and offered to vary any dish according to our personal tastes. We asked for it hot and spicy, and that's exactly what we got. Actually our best meal during our visit to London.

After walking the full length of Brick Lane and been accosted by countless restaurant waiters touting for business we settled on the Saffron. No touting staff, no flash interior just a couple of empty tables and a fabulous aroma.just be aware that the restaurantWe had poppadoms to start followed by a Chicken Makhani and a non-vegetarian Thali. Just great food, well cooked and we left left a morsel. What greater compliment could be paid to the chef. Definitely worth a visit.Just be aware that they charge an additional 12.5% for service.

Brick lane restaurants in general are average at best, they make great claims of award winning triumphs. But in reality they are nothing more than glorified takeaways.London has many great Indian restaurants but Brick lane has few if any.

The food was cold when delivered, 45 mins late, and the delivery driver refused to deliver to our building forcing us to leave our meeting and come into the street to find him. A very poor experience.

DON´T ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. I ordered my meal, and just before it was supposed to arrive I got a call saying that all the delivery drivers were at Friday prayers and that I could cancel or I could wait one hour. I decided to wait one hour. One hour later I get a call saying that all the delivery drivers had gone home after prayers and would not be able to deliver. They did not say on their just eat menu that delivery wasn´t available on Fridays between 12pm-2pm. If they had simply changed their opening times on their page to reflect that, I would never have had this problem. I have now waited two hours for nothing. I can´t rate the quality of the food because it didn´t arrive,But I have to give a quality rating in order to submit this review so I will the food quality an average rating. Don´t make the same mistake I did....DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!

Overpriced. Very poor service and food. We went as a big family for a birthday party and they kindly allocated us a group area - that was the only good thing. Food was 2 star - some dishes good some

Nice food but not massive portions. Friendly chatty staff. Good value for money considering its London. Very basic decor but nice atmosphere. Happy to eat there again.

This shop is now under new management! The food quality and standards is top. Highly recommend the Peri Peri Family Grill Platter.
