Had a beautiful meal at Saffron tonight. A good sized restaurant seating around 30 people. The team were very friendly and attentive without ever overstepping. For me they got it just right. Plenty of friendly regulars gave me the impression of a well run restaurant with great food. We were not disappointed when our food came. Large portions, plenty of meat and tasted as good as any curry I have had previously. Well worth a visit.

We are from Birmingham, regularly eat out for curries. The service and waitress was absolutely fine - quick, polite. The atmosphere nothing special, what you would expect from a curry house. Food was awful - I had a chicken tikka masala that was tomato red with quite a few chunks of ‘chicken’ in that had the texture of halloumi cheese. It was rubbery and the sauce was very sweet - not something expected of a traditional masala. We also ordered a Rogan Josh - this was extremely spicy, which again unusual and tasted more like a jalfrezi. Couldn’t eat it as was extremely sweating. They did bring another one out which was less spicy. The other waiter looked at the original one with a discerning look of disapproval. They also stated that someone else complained last week that it was too spicy. The texture of the meat was definitely frozen. Due to only being the only curry house in the area there is no alternative and is extremely poor.

Food was great quality, delicious spices and just enough heat. Friendly service despite being very busy and inundated with requests for extra bookings.

Well I live in West Midlands near the balti triangle Birmingham and I've been to loads of Indian restaurants and I've got to say i absolutely loved, loved my food here. AND the staff are cool,don't understand some of these reviews.

Only Indian in Barmouth believe it or not and it’s nice. Friendly service and tasty curry. 🍻 🍛 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

This is NOT how INDIAN food tastes. Clearly not Indian food may be from Bangladesh. The Chicken tikka masala had few pieces of chicken and some red coloured sauce with coconut flavour not edible at all. Another Lahori gosht curry tasted like out of the jar. Sorry, but that’s not how Indian food tastes at all.its was overpriced for the quality and quantity of food.

Great good, great staff, great atmosphere, great price! We enjoyed our meals which were tasty and well cooked. Recommended.

Best Indian ever had, the chicken was so tender. Everything was spiced perfectly for us. Service a bit slow because it was so busy but well worth the wait! Everything was 10/10

Do not expect Indian Taste! This is not how Indian food tastes at all, trust me vegetables in curries are very big, no salt, taste is blend. No way this is an Indian Taste. Think 100times before expecting Indian taste, I personally didn’t like the taste.

Food is just amazing, atmosphere is lovely, service is very kind and helpful. I will definetly come back 😊

This place never fails to deliver imo. My favourite Indian restaurant that I've ever visited. And I used to regularly visit the curry mile in Manchester and try a different restaurant every time we went. The onion bhaji's were hot and crunchy all the way through. Just like they're meant to be. One of my friends had the lamb vindaloo. He said it was very tasty and the lamb was tender. but it was a little too hot for him. His own fault for bragging about how hot he could take it lol.. Me and my other friend both had Chilli and Garlic Chicken Balti. He said it was the best curry he'd ever eaten. And I totally agree.. If its possible to be in food heaven I was there that night. I even polished off the sauce left in my friends Balti dish it was that nice. Yes it is a little busy with people ordering take aways etc. But it is the only Indian in Barmouth. And I think that that makes it all the more impressive that the chefs managed to deliver such a quality meal. My only regret is not ordering half a dozen balti's to take home with me. I definitely will be next time I'm in Barmouth. Since writing this review they must have employed a new chef or something because I've been twice since and the food isn't of the same standard unfortunately. There was no flavour, no heat and hardly any garlic. I let them off the first time because I'd never had a bad curry before. But unfortunately it's happened again. I'm very disappointed because this used to be my favourite curry house. What has happened Bash..? 😔

Been going to Indian restaurants for over 30 yrs.. This one is the worst one iv ever been to...over priced,,,poor service,,,n absolutely drenched in ghee...ask to see kitchen b4 ordering...its utterly filthy n almost zero hygeine...eg frozen prawns in a bucket on washing up draining board nxt to heaps of leftover food,,,plates,,,tissues etc... Don't know how they've got 4* hygeine rating sticker on window. . Alleged manager unbelievablely rude...but definitely the best place to get food poisoning (like 2 of my friends did) Avoid at all costs

Was recommended this place by someone on holiday so we decided to try it , nice little curry house on high Street, was welcomed by very friendly staff , good beer and great food , probably one of best currys I've had . Did not feel rushed by staff. If your in barmouth and fancy a curry look no further! This is the place for you ! . If we visit barmouth again we will definitely come here again ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A very nice Indian restaurant the food was excellent and well priced. Went with 7 mates who were all very pleased with the food. The Lamb Bhuna was s excellent as was the chicken Nepalise. I/We will definitely be going back the next time we're in Barmouth. Highly recommend the Saffron

Been coming to Barmouth on and off for about 8 years and each time we eat here. Lovely welcoming staff and absolutely banging food.

we had a takeout from here last night the food was beautiful we had chicken tikka masala chicken madras pilau rice garlic naan chips and meat samosas to start we had accidentally ordered for a takeaway 4 hours away on just eat and luckily they sorted us out , the naan bread and tikka masala was a massive hit with the 11 year old , lovely people who served us too, always busy so next time we visit we will book and eat in. Lovely place

If you are Indian then you will not get the India authentic taste. Paneer butter masala is extremely sweet. Please see the rude attitude from the restaurant in reply, nothing more to say. In India paneer butter masala is not sweet.

Been here at least once every year we visit Barmouth really friendly place good with the kids aswell .

Dirty filthy place, and after giving me and my family food poisoning refused to do anything for me! Now forwarded and in the hands of the local council, just take a walk to the rear of the establishment you will find piles of rubbish crawling with rats and if you even try and look in the kitchen all doors are slammed shut.

Don’t waste your time going here rude staff I asked for my chicken to be well cooked and it was as if I had asked for something un heard of!! The waiters reply was no we can’t do that do you not know what chicken tikka is I replied yes and would like my chicken well cooked it’s my choice his reply was we are to busy he can’t do that especially for me so I replied well all food is cooked fresh isn’t it so can you cook my chicken a little longer it’s not a problem he replied no we are to busy!! I said forget it and left the restaurant. So if I go into any restaurant I’m a paying customer I will tell them how I want my food cooked not to be told by an arrogant waiter with no manners that I couldn’t have my food cooked how I wanted it cooking!! It’s like being told in a steakhouse you can’t have your steak done how you like it!

Great, helpful and polite service by all staff. Very tasty food once again, and just as I remembered from my first ever visit a year or so ago. Friend and I loved coming back and weren't disappointed🥰We shared a portion of picklesand condiments and also had a portion of four poppadoms- as our starter/ appitiser. For our main's we had the Takha dahl, and chicken dupiaza and then shared a side order of garlic nan bread. Everything was truly scrumptious!Thankyou The Saffron, for a fab time and keep up the good work!Look forward to coming back hopefully later this year. The only tiny negative would be no hot drinks served, nor any desserts on the menu.

Ordered a takeaway for collection it was ready when I arrived. Three chicken dishes all had good quantities of tasty chicken and good sauces. Two naan bread. Two rice. Plenty to eat for three. No free poppadoms unlike my usual takeaway. Recommended

Saturday I ordered my meal told half hour but stood for an hour I do like my food ..took one folk of rice dry curry not good did not eat meal .if your looking for a good curry don't order from here disappointed £30 didn't eat it bined it after one fork of dry hard rice

The worst service I’ve ever received

Decided to dine in on an overnight visit to barnmouth. First time visit the area. On the whole not a bad little restaurant. Food OK nothing amazing personally thought mine was very bland and tasteless however my partner like hers. So I guess its hit and miss. I had a chicken bhuna my partner had the chill masala. Service again was OK average at best. Pricing was just OK I'd say on the expensive side for what we had. 2 curry's 1 chips 1 rice 1 nan 2 cokes 2 "bottled cobra". They have nothing on tap. Best asset is the atompshere small and comfortable. I'd probably drive out a little instead of returning but if that isn't possible it's OK at best. Not terrible but not great.

Ordered 17:23 for collection at 18:00. Ordered 2 x Veg Samosas, 2 x Onion Bhaji, 6 poppadoms, tray of Chutney, 3 mains (chicken sag, chicken tikka massala and chicken tikka chilli massala, 2 rice and 3 naan breads - 2 keema, 1 plain. Bill came to just shy of £75.00. Chicken sag - the recipient was happy with this meal hence the 2 stars. Chicken tikka massala - okay. Chicken tikka chilli massala - absolutely disgusting and tasted nothing like a tikka massala! It was a completely different colour to the massala with slices of chillies, garlic and what looked like a carrot! Write up on the menu says ‘hotter spices to create a unique taste’. Well I certainly wouldn’t order it again it certainly isn’t a tikka massala with chilli. Veg samosas were swimming in grease! I physically had to grab kitchen roll and pat the grease off it. When lifted they dripped yellow oil off them. Onion bhaji weren’t the best either - they seemed to have a floury consistency in the middle. Somewhat odd for an onion bhaji. Moving on to the naan - charged for 2 keema naan and 1 plain, we got 3 plain naans and all 3 were burnt and cold!! We don’t recommend and we certainly wouldn’t return. Really disappointed with the whole takeaway given that it was for my fiancé’s birthday. Least of all the cost for such a poor meal. Photos: burnt naan bread and the ‘chilli’ tikka massala.

Average, but not awful. We have a lot of Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants in the Midlands and the quality of the food has to keep up with the times. Saffron probably wouldn't survive in that environment. But if you like unimaginative curry dishes 1990s style, you'll love it.

Shocking! I'm utterly shocked! In 2023 how are establishments like this even allowed to trade? It feels like stepping into the 1970s with regards to ambience and culinary offering. Ordered a vegetable curry and it came with dolmio like sauce and I kid you not 2 baby potatoes, a WHOLE onion cut into quarters and half a tomato! This was the waiters recommendation of their best vegetarian dish. My partner ordered Butter Chicken. For those of you that have had proper Indian fayre, you will know, when well prepared with passion and love, is a popular creation amongst Indian fanatics. Saffrons version (prepared with zero love and care) came with a block of butter, 40 grams of sugar and 4 pieces of microwaved chicken. If it wasn't microwaved, it may have been the leftovers from 4 customers past. Having ourselves left it, it may again be reused for the 6th and next customer. I highly recommend for the local authorities to come and visit and audit this establishments hygiene and trading standards. Perhaps one may feel this is exaggerated, but I can tell you, that the lack of disappointment that a restaurant of this calibre can trade in 2023 is no exaggeration! An insult to the hospitality and in particular the Indian restaurant sector.

Had really enjoyable meal. Not a clue why reviews by others don't show simular experiences. The place was rammed and turning people away. Same the night before from time they opened to time they closed. I personally would go back if ever in the area again

Had a takeaway Prawn Danaak and Paratha….I think it’s the best one I’ve had, super tasty and generous with the prawns. I was brought up in Brum, so know a good curry!

Best vindaloo curry ever. My favourite place in barmouth. Tandoori chicken and special pilau rice is amazing.

Omg I come from Birmingham which we all know is the Balti capital, but I have to say I ate the best curry I have ever eaten yesterday in the saffron. Fast polite service as well. Highly recommend place to eat in Barmouth *****

Great onion bhaji, lots of choices on the menu, had the lamb madras and it had a great thick spicy sauce with soft pieces of lamb and plenty of it the old trusted chicken tikka masala was amazing too

We came here for late afternoon lunch some where in end of June 2022, when we couldn't find any good place to eat, being Asian, my family prefers to have a decent meal, so we thought we would be given some justice. To my surprise, the Aloo chat we ate had hand full of salt and any Hypertensive patient would have heart attack the same night. Absolute salty !!! We ordered a vegetarian Biryani, which should have been made to best as Bangladeshi/West bengali people are good at it, however, vegetables inside biryani definitely tasted stale and were of 1-2 days old, we could taste it. And not to mention food was cold and didn't appear fresh. I am not sure of non-veg dishes, but as a vegetarian, no restaurant cares about it !! Not recommended

Food was tasty enough maybe a bit too over seasoned/salty for me but everyone in there eating was happy. Basically like eating takeout curry in a restaurant that was mainly a takeaway. Place wasn't very clean, plates were dirty and service pretty poor, focus was on shipping out takeaway, in fact I almost got someone's takeout when I got bored waiting and went to the bar to pay my bill. Fine if u want a curry out in Barmouth as the only place.

My partner and I went out for a meal 24.06.2022. We found the staff to be quite arrogant and very slow at their service. My partners food came out 10 minute's later than mine and to top it off, it wasn't even what was ordered. Will definitely not be eating here again.

We wanted to visit this restaurant for dinner on Tuesday last as we were staying in barmouth. It was meant to open at 5pm, so we joined a small queue of people waiting outside. It didn't open at all, no notice/sign on the door stating it was going to be closed or open late. Looking through the window, a member of staff could clearly be seen sitting at the far end of the restaurant, who ignored us all. Needless to say everyone walked away to eat elsewhere. Very disappointed as we had been looking forward to it. They lost a lot of custom that night and I wouldn't trust their reliability in the future.

I didn't like and hardly ate the Chicken Korma however my husband and mother-in-law enjoyed their meals. They forgot one of the dishes. They were great with their regular customers but not very attentive to us.

If I could have given 0 stars I would! There wasn't much curry to go with my carton of salt! Absolutely disgusting how much salt was in the food, totally inedible. As if that wasn't bad enough, the large piece of plastic in the second curry topped it off! The only positive from this catastrophic meal was that I walked away alive and with a full refund! Avoid at all costs!

Gave us a table last minute with no booking even tho there was few others in very friendly staff I accidentally broke a glass (sorry again )and they were brilliant about it cleaned up in no time food lovely very decent prices massive portions even gave my nephews sweets upon leaving will defo return again

Lovely takeaway tonight - chicken saag and Madras hot chicken balti shashlik with pilau rice and naan bread !! Couldn't fault it - ready on time and good sized portions, well recommend this restaurant.

Had the chicken tikka jalfrezi and my wife hade the chicken tikka buna, both were fantastic! Highly recommend 👍👊

The worst Indian food I’ve ever had. Hard inedible lumps of rice, Dahl extremely salty and so watered down it was less than soup, Garlic Naan was sweet like sugar. Awful 😞
