Ruzzo in Shepway

Ordered through just eat, after 1.5 hours we called and the restaurant seemed to somehow have no started the order, was sorry and the food came about 40 mins later. One Pizza we ordered was for the kids to share, but they werent able to eat it as we had to put them to bed due to the time. These were expensive pizzas, £16 each roughly, the photos looked like high quality pizzas and at that price you would expect a decent pizza as its not something that should be hard to mess up. I started eating it and there was a very unusual taste. I had never tasted anything like it before on any pizza I have ever had, the cheese have a very weird consistency, texture and taste. I realised a few bites in it tasted like the dairylea cheese triangles, I havent eaten one in decades, but thats what it was like. I genuinely didnt eat any more of it, it was just so weird. My partner had a salmon pasta dish which was fine, but I paid £60 for food that came so late my kids werent able to eat it and no one ate either of the pizzas, I picked off some of the pepperoni and put it in the bin. I hate giving a bad review, but honestly I feel like in this case it was so unusual that maybe this feedback will be helpful, maybe something was off that night or they had to get an inferior cheese etc. but it was absolutely the strangest pizza I have ever tasted. I do feel like the delay was a genuine mistake and the guy who I spoke to did deliver it himself as he promised, honestly if the pizza was ok, not even anything special just actual mozarella, I wouldnt have reviewed, but this left a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively so I wanted to offer the feedback.

I recently dined at Ruzzo with my family, and it was a fantastic experience. The warm ambiance and welcoming staff made us feel right at home. While the pasta dishes were delicious, the standout was the tiramisu—hands down the best I've ever had. It was light, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The service was attentive, adding to our enjoyment. We left satisfied and eager to return, especially for that amazing tiramisu!

We've just come back from an absolutely lovely meal at Ruzzo. Food was absolutely perfect and the staff were super friendly! Would definitely recommend

We had a lovely meal here whilst on holiday staying at Cabu. My two children really enjoyed their meals, one had carbonara with chicken and the other had the penne in tomato sauce from the kids menu. I tried the carbonara and it was delicious. I had calamari and house fries and loved them. The calamari was really good and everything tasted very fresh. We also shared some garlic bread which was really tasty. My favourite was the desert, tiramisu, it was amazing! The staff were really nice and attentive. The waiter who served us was friendly and kind. The food came out exactly as we wanted. It was a wonderful experience.

Absolute Gem. Wonderful tasty food , cooked to perfection. All staff friendly and cheerful. Service was outstanding. Atmosphere was calm and nice and relaxing. Was very busy but still staff were attentive and well organised. A must for anyone liking Italian .

We came in as a family of 7, service was great and food was beautiful, with great portions. Staff were attentive. Kids menu has great choices, and as a dad with a fussy child, was pleased to see my son eat all his food. Highly recommended

Had a very nice meal here last night managed to book a table late on just as well as by the time we left it was full the food and service very good well worth a visit and the portions were more than enough

Although the service was fabulous we were very disappointed with our food. I had arrabiatta pasta which was far too spicy, I've never eaten this dish this chilli hot before and it really spoilt it for me. My husband had spaghetti fruitti de mer, excuse my spelling, which had no prawns in it. The rest was nice but prawns are a pretty main part.

Not proper. Italian cooking. Had chicken with what looked like processed cheese and chips used to get lovely potatoes in here but they didn't have much on the menu at all. Waste ofof money had a sprizte cost £9. No prosecco in it only aperol and soda won't be going back wasn't very impressed pizza was ok but pricey

After seeking recommendations for a nice restaurant in New Romney, we decided on dinner at Ruzzo’s. The meal, the wine, the setting and the staff were amazing. We are lovers of Italian food and the menu and meals did not disappoint! Such lovely attentive staff too. Would highly recommend a visit!

The roasted mushrooms they gave me were perfect and delicious. Perfect for brunch would recommend going there again. Very good service as well

A quiet (on a Thursday) well presented authentic restaurant serving a good selection of traditional italian foods from aperitifs through to deserts and after dinner drinks. Attentive friendly staff. Going back to try the pizza next time. 😋 Fully recommended.

came in for dinner absolutely amazing the server (idk her name but young girl) was absolutely lovely and the food was incredible really quick to come out and tasted so good portions were huge as well and the cheese cake was incredible (although i recommend serving it with a scoop of ice-cream would have been a cherry on top) quite expensive though, the bill came to £58 for 2 people. definitely will be coming again

The food in this place is amazing, pasta all hand crafted, pizza all hand made and a burger to die for. 4 very full bellies and outstanding value . Made to feel very welcome and the place has a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended

Great service but very little atmosphere and overpriced food in small portions. Mediocre offering. (Not even the lasagne was home made). Did not feel very authentically Italian. Kind waitress though.

Lovely Italian restaurant. Food is really good had the Calzone and Salmon and chilli Penne pasta. Freshly cooked to order and served hot. Staff are very friendly and approachable. Lovely coffee and Honeycomb cheese cake for desert. Well worth a visit and I would definitely recommend.

A little gem of a find. We went there last week with friends for an evening meal. We were met at the door by very friendly staff and shown to our table. I have to say it was a lovely change to go to an independent restaurant. We all agreed the food was spot on. One of the of the best and very authentic meals enjoyed by all of us. We will all be going back again and can’t wait to try the other dishes.

Lovely atmosphere, good attentive friendly staff. Food was just ok. Fried mozzarella starter was pour, three small pieces with a bit of pomodoro sauce no garnish just plonked on a plate £8.25! The main was nice carbonara al forna but not much chicken, at £16.25 I expected better. Didn’t bother with desserts, only four choices all of which were a tad boring. Cocktails were very plain no garnishes to make them look a bit special. I wouldn’t bother returning, to overpriced in my opinion

My son and I had garlic bread, carbonara, calamari and chips. Toffee pud and chocolate orange cake. The food was very average. Garlic bread was good and home made. The rest was probably from brakes. Not a bad meal but not good value. We will go back and try the pizza which is freshly made. Overall, fine but just too average.

What a delightful place… the service was great and the food was tasty, we educated them on how to make a Negroni and it was good… definitely worth a visit if you are nearby !!

I have visited this place a couple times now and it has greatly improved since my 1st visit. The staff are thoroughly plesent and attentive especially the blonde lankey waitress, always making our dine enjoyable. The food is amazing, we had the ruzzo rustica pizza and the goats cheese alforno, both fairly priced for the portion sizes and the overall taste of the meal. High recomend.

Service was good even though staff seemed inexperienced and nervous. The food was average, at best, and overpriced when taking into account the quality. The risotto had quite a nice flavour but was overcooked and mushy. The special calzone was not special at all and had little filling or flavour. Wine was house standard and not worth the £24 asking price. We had a similar experience here a couple of years ago and only returned as we were invited by friends. We hoped that our previous bad experience would not be repeated but unfortunately it was. We won't be going back.

Friday evening meal out. Restaurant clean and tidy but could do with a bit of love to give it some character. The two girls serving looked after us well and were friendly polite and attentive Food. Muscles starters really tasty. Would have had it as a main but not on menu. Mains let the restaurant down. My pizza very tasty and no complaints. The other two mains, risotto and a pasta dish, not so good. Both so hot that I think they are being cooked in reactor core of Dungeness power station. Obviously nuked in micro. Risotto not fabulous and pasta dried out and scorchio on top. Would probably not go back. Shame. Looked promising from the outside.

Greeted at the door by staff and directed to a table. On recommendations from a co worker I ordered the Carbonara El Forno and a pizza. Food arrived hot and ready with the server offering "real" parmigiana cheese for each dish. The El Forno was lightly crisped and brown on top followed underneath by a thick white sauce with crispy pancetta and chicken that blended well with the pasta. The pepperoni pizza was too thin and crispy that held up. Flavours with both dishes was very good but we had no room for dessert.

Very good restaurant experience. Good food, kind staff. The vegan pizza rustica was very authentic and delicious. I had to ask for vegan options because they were not visible in the menu and got a pizza verdure with super tasty vegan cheese.

A lovely restaurant that we have been to a few times, and is extremely consistent in terms of food quality and service. The waiting staff are a delight and cannot do enough for you. Their menu represents good value for money. Well worth a visit if you are looking for a good restaurant. Think about making a reservation as they do get busy.

It was a really pleasant surprise to discover an authentic Italian restaurant of such excellent quality. The ingredients are obviously imported. I had a vegan pizza which was superb and my date had a Al Forno pasta which was also top notch.

We tried here for the first time and the foid was lovely, me my partner and son each had a pizza all very happy. But.... When a week later me and my partner desided to try something different we discovered a minimum spend had been imposed of just under £50 and our items only would have cost £35 so we desided against ordering. As some have said prices are a little high but the quality is worth it just not being forced to order more by having said minimum spend.

Another great place to eat in New Romney. I saw another review say the pizza wasn't great but that couldn't be further from the truth, maybe the reviewer was more used to greasy Dominoes or Pizza Hut than a more authentic pizza. The base was crisp, crust soft and the meat was clearly fresh. The calzone nduja was also excellent, everything included worked really well together and there was a good level of spice. I would definitely recommend to others who are fans of Italian cuisine.

The restaurant should not be called Italian. They served overcooked pasta with the same under-cooked tasteless tomato sauce. The bolognese sauce was off, probably was cooked several days before. The starters are overpriced, very tiny portions with no real Italian taste at all, the cheapest ingredients available from retail were served as antipasto. The service was not bad although they employ underpayed teenagers / young adults. Very disappointed as Google reviews are unreasonably high.

We ate at Ruzzo on Saturday. My husband had a gusto rustica pizza which was lovely and I had the seabass which was also very tasty. We finished off by sharing a cheesecake which was divine. Service was great. Jude, was serving at our table...

First time visiting and we will most definitely be back! Food was absolutely delicious and price wise very reasonable. Staff were a little over attentive which did make us feel a little rushed but we put this down to them being a little on the quiet side all were very friendly.

It must have been a bad night !! ...... I would not recommend. * atmosphere - poor, no real attempt to make this feel like an Italian restaurant apart from the name and menu. No background music but a table of noisy children. * table - plain timber with no table cloths to give a hint of quality. * food - average, apart from the pizza which we refused to pay for, awful !! * Price for 4 people - Not good value - Garlic bread to share / 1 main course each incl that awful pizza / wine and drinks / 1 coffee, the bill was £85.00 excluding the pizza .

Just come back from having a lovely meal with my sister here. Jude was very polite and friendly. The food came out very quickly and the Seafood pasta’s were excellent definitely go again when we come back to New Romney.

I will start with the disappointment of the food at first. The starter's were ok. The mains, my husbands was very disappointing there was alot of pasta, sauce was all tomatoes no chilli in it at all and the prawns you could tell were frozen...
