Ruyi Vegetarian House in Manchester

Ordered my takeaway at 6:30pm and it arrived at 9pm. When I phoned the restaurant they said it was their fault as the restaurant was busy. Awful service. I will never eat here again.

We've visited this restaurant on many occasions and I can't fault the food, in fact it's one of my favourite Chinese restaurants. On this occasion however I felt incredibly rushed. We had booked a table, but the place was empty anyway when we arrived. After our main course the plates were immediately removed, I was still chewing! The waiter asked if we wanted to take what was left home with us and promptly bagged it up and placed it on the table. No mention of a dessert menu and we had been there 40 minutes by this time. I just paid and we left. There was only one other table occupied when we left. It doesn't look good to have an empty restaurant and no tables had a reserved sign, so presumably they weren't expecting people. Couldn't understand it and spoilt it for me.

This place is a revelation & as a first time diner with family local to Chorlton, my only disappointment is it'll be a little while before I get the chance to go again. Some of the best non meat dishes I've ever had. Service was excellent and would highly recommend to vegans and non vegans alike. 10 out of 10

This is a fantastic vegetarian Chinese restaurant, we have been numerous times, and with friends who eat meat. Everyone has been impressed. The service is friendly and professional. Highly recommended

10/10 - strongly recommend. We’ve been coming here now for about 12 months and every time we come we get treated like family, hugs, handshakes and oodles of love. It’s a family business run by Sue, her husband and Chef Geoff, and Sue’s son Nick. We always have the crack with the family and they always deliver on the food and hospitality detail. We have food that has been personalised to our needs, very clean but super tasty. We have broccoli with ginger and garlic, pak choi with black bean sauce and a portion of vermicelli with no plant-based meat. It’s always de-lish-ous. Yum. It’s an absolute must, you’ll love it.

When we first arrived, the female members of staff were helpful. However, as soon as the food arrived, a member of staff, who may have been the owner, sat down on an adjacent table and starting watching TV programmes on his phone and subjected the whole restaurant to an annoying tinny sound. To be clear, he was not using headphones. The noise was, therefore, not an accident. His attitude was basically, ‘screw you, I don’t care what other people think. I am carrying on regardless.’ His attitude would have been rude anywhere. However, he was also forgetting that customers were paying good money to dine at the restaurant.  This put us in a difficult position. If he was wearing headphones, we could have passed the noise off as accidental. However, conflict arose in another establishment when the owner could not care about irritating his customers. We were there for a pleasant night out. The female staff appeared scared of him.  We no longer wanted to stay there so cancelled the custard buns we ordered for dessert. You would get a more relaxing experience at a fraction of the price at a curry cafe in the Northern Quarter.

Delicious and stunning, authentic Chinese food, mostly vegan at such a high standard which was rare to find. A huge choice on the menu to cater to all who are nostalgic of Cantonese dishes. I could clearly tell they love and honour what they do, put great effort and thought into cooking/creating their dishes and the staff made a very nice ambience at their restaurant. They also had an SMS instant messaging service to contact for reservations or for a takeaway option, and replied to us instantly! Perfect for when you are on the move or cannot make a call. We were driving a long journey home and this was honestly the best vegan chinese I have had in the UK. We felt great after the meal, and honestly could and would eat their food every day. Great service, with very genuine and friendly people working there. They even sell homemade Vegan XO Sauce which was such a treat! So I bought two jars. Definitely wanting to go back again very soon! So far, my favourite vegan/vegetarian chinese restaurant in the UK, hands down. What a lovely run business, please support them when you can!

Fab vegetarian restaurant with good range of gluten free options,i cant also tolerate oats whether gluten free or not and kind man got some soya milk for me to gave with pot of tea.the food was lovely and delicious.daughter loved the honey ginger and lemon tea.

We decided to have a takeaway before the New Year. I've eaten here before so knew it would be good. We opted for the tofu based dishes as we're not too bothered about fake meat. It arrives quickly and as always there was plenty. I hadn't tried the szechuam mushrooms before or the battered cauliflower. How amazing. Couldn't stop appreciating the taste and texture. Two new favourites. Made for a good start to the evening. Thanks all.

Excellent choice, high quality food & service. Our second visit was great. We enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. The hot and sour soup was a big highlight for me, and the bao buns of course are a real treat.

Food was very good price for a single meal and a soft drink around 19 pounds .Was quite shocked when a waiter who did not serve us started saying "are you not going to tip add an extra 10%" Four times he tried to pressure my friend into adding a 10% tip onto the bill. Spoiled the night but the manager explained that it is fine for the staff to ask for a tip and you can just say no. Not a policy I have seen in many restaurants waiters asking for 10% extra at the end of the meal.

Attended as a family of 6 for a birthday, 2 of us were vegetarian/ vegan so where blown away by the amount of choice!! Had the best selection of Asian food from crispy beef to sweet sour soup- everything vegan and those which contain eggs are clearly labeled. Ordered as much as possible between us to try everything and it was well worth it. I had the satay chicken and was one of the best satay dishes I’ve ever had! Great texture, heat and consistency as a lot of satay are overly brown and only taste of penuts. My partner has the spicy “fish” which was great. Lots of calamari textures and flavours. The rib starters where good, and I wasn’t entirely sure what I expected. No one went home hungry and left overs where happily taken home. Forgot to take photos before tucking in! Reasonably priced and very friendly staff- can’t wait to visit again! Recommend the duck pancakes!!!

I visit here quite often, it provides the best selection of vegan food in my area. The portions are quite large, which the staff make you aware of. I'm not sure if this is because I'm only slim or if they tell everybody. The food is of high quality and the staff are always friendly and welcoming

Came here for a friends birthday at the weekend. Firstly, let me say there was nothing wrong with the food we ordered it was hot and nice. However, the customer service was lacking for me. I was the last to order out of my friends and every chance Maria got she made a comment about how much I was ordering or how big a portion was. Me and my friends were not sharing food and she was aware of this, she did not make any comments to them when they were ordering what they wanted. I felt fat shamed and judged for what I was ordering. Because of this I didn’t get to order what I wanted. This judgment continued throughout my time here when she collected the plates she made comments about how she knew I didn’t need any noodles what I had was enough, I had less than my friends. It is my opinion that her comments were unnecessary, if I am willing to pay for what I order what business is it of theirs about what I am ordering. Don’t come here if you are fat and want more than 1 item.

Incredible food and really unique options. As a “meat eater” usually I found that I didn’t miss the lack of meat at all and all the dishes we had were excellent. The ribs and Thai curry particularly were superb. Highly recommend a trip!
