Fabulous couple who run this lovely bar. We were staying at Premier Inn but went 2 nights to the pub they made us so welcome 😀

First time there we were greeted by a right misery behind the bar. He said "what do you want" as I'd we were putting him out by being there! No please, no thank you and no "do come again". Sad because we live here and really looked forward to having a new "local". That was 6 years ago and we've not bothered going back. I was told by a local that the landlord doesn't like anyone. Perhaps he needs a new vocation?

Lovely local pub with very friendly staff. The young waiter couldn't do enough for us and was running around after everyone, working very hard. My lasagne was quite dry but the steak pie had rave reviews from the rest of the group, so I definitely regret my choice! But a nice pub, a great selection on the menu with loads of vegetarian options.

Food was lovely fair play as was the food service.

Well worth a visit the food is lovely and the staff are cheerful and friendly.

Really pleased we went here when staying at the nearby Premier Inn the food was all freshly cooked its a family run pub that's really worth a visit and good value.

Great place. Clean and tidy. We had buffet food not of the menu and it was ok. The landlord was very nice and great service. Plenty of car park spaces and easy to find. Will be going back to try out the menu food...

A large group of us turned up as we were staying locally and we hadn't booked ahead. We were made to feel very welcome. A lovely friendly village pub. Great food, lots of choice and speedy service. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Would definitely return again if we were in the area.

If I could give less stars I would Very rude bar man / owner . No interest in customer service at all . I’ve been there twice . Never again . Such a shame as could be a lovey country pub

Held my brothers memorial in the function room. Perfect venue and the food was lovely. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. Would highly recommend

Great couple of hours playing pool and having a drink. Lovely Lottie (the dog) welcomes you on arrival.

Scruffy and over priced no wonder there was only 2 people in there would not go there again

Closed when advertised as open (google says it closes 2pm, even the sign on the door says 1:45pm, but I arrived at 13:10 after an arduous bike ride in the cold & rain and found it closed sadly. So I have no idea if they are closed all day Sunday or what

We were staying in a nearby Premier Inn which did not have a restaurant. We booked for the Ruishton and pleased we did. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Food lovely.

Great food, real ale, this place is a gem

We arrived a bit late for a meal as we were driving a fair bit, we were directed to this pub by the local premiere inn. When we arrived, we grabbed a seat and started to look at the food menu. While there, the man behind the bar made a comment to someone who he was serving "They expect to get fed" and both of them chuckled. When I looked around, they were both looking at us, I was a little annoyed but then went up and asked if we can order food, the man at the bar said to me "I dunno, is she still serving food" I shrugged and told him I didn't know. He then pressed the horn on his wheelchair and a lovely, pleasant girl came out and took our order. I was a little more irritated at this point so my travel partner went up to order the drinks because I was afraid of what I might say to the barman. Our food arrived, my travel partner had a big plate of chicken with some sort of yellow sauce and veg (she said it tasted nice) I ordered the fish and chips as it required as little thought as possible, I was too annoyed to think straight. So, the fish and chips arrived, the fish tasted nice and the chips were lovely and crispy. However, I am fairly sure the fish was frozen fish from Sainsburys!! Well, I was so disappointed I want to walk out of the place. We had our meal, finished our drinks, and left. Perhaps they didn't like us arriving so late for a meal or it was the Irish accent that turned them off but it was a very unpleasant experience and the pub itself was very dirty.

Just a short walk on a country lane from the Ruishton Premier Inn, this is a great village pub with lovely staff/owners who looked after our party well. The food & drink was varied and reasonably priced, and the menu had just what we needed. Our five-year-old niece was kept entertained hunting around the pub & garden for all the model animals, including something like 50 elephants!

This is a excellent village inn great food and excellent service with a very good selection of drinks .

Lovely pub with a spacious car park and a pool table. They have a no coins on the table policy where the winner stays on for other players that come in but we went mid week so wasn't super busy. We had a couple nice bowls of cheesy chips, staff were friendly and the drinks were reasonably priced.

Service was slow and the ploughman's had too much salad. The bread ready buttered was a bit odd as I like my cheese without . Bread could have been fresher.

Lovely lunch here again today. Made to feel really welcome by Caroline and Malcolm. Dogs welcome in conservatory, great place to stop for lunch on a walk.

Down this neck of the woods for business. Pub literally around the corner, nice pub, very clean, following COVID regs in all areas. Very polite and welcoming, no need to book. Good pub grub, wife had Turf n Surf, small rump cooked to order very well, very tasty. Lots of Pachyderms around, nice touch, good value, good beer, it's a nice little pub.

Solid enough real ales and pub grub but expect better nowadays from a local village pub

Lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff and regulars. We stumbled across this brilliant pub on google when we were in the area and seriously hungry! We sat outside the back with our 3 dogs. The waitress was so helpful and really looked after us. The food was amazing; we had the 5 bean chilli and the vegetable curry, both of which the chef made plant based for us. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

We stopped for a drink and stayed the night in the car park in our van. Friendly staff.

Visited as had good reviews and we could walk to it. Homemade all over the menu and there was nothing homemade about what we were given and massively overpriced, very disappointed. Would not recommend.

Honestly one of, if not the best steak I have eaten in a very long time. Also a very good pint of kronke. Booked again for tomorrow 👍

Found pub on the search for sites website, stayed over for one night in a VW campervan purchased a meal and drinks, made welcome, level car park, good nights sleep and good food would recommend

Amazing service... 2020 the Christmas where the plans didn't quite happen for so many. After months of shielding my Dad was on his own, while his sons were in tier 4 and my wife wondered how to get a Christmas Dinner to him Up stepped Caroline from the Ruishton Inn. It would have been easy for her to say no, but she didn't, she kindly made it happen and my dad got a full delicious Christmas lunch delivered. 5 star service

Lovely place, friendly owners, great food, we stopped over night with brit stop.

Really good food, friendly staff and they have really got to grips with the covid precautions. A very pleasant evening.

I had fish and chips and quite a few others and it was awful I wouldn't recommend it to anybody

Clean, nice enough staff, but lacking in atmosphere. Beer was ok. Went at 8 on a Friday evening, on a bank holiday weekend, when you would expect a pub to be busy. There were 4 people dining, and 3 drinkers in the bar, joined by 2 later on. I will try it again, but on first contact, a bit underwhelming.

Helpful, and allocated us a quiet room, however it did take housekeeping two days to catch up with the fact there were two people in the room. We twice had to request a second set of towels

A Comfortable country pub, serving an excellent selection of different types of meals, from hearty usuals to curries. Plus some excellent ales and beers, served by the landlord himself. A place not to be missed!!

Nicely set back in a secluded location not far off the M5 but you'd never know! A good place to stop for a bite to eat or a drink without any hidden agendas or mod cons

Food was lovely and very accomodating staff.

Have to be local here to be served late at night. Was refused a drink at about 11, told "not tonight lads", then 5 minutes later, someone sat at the bar was served. Rude! Shame, we probably put £100 in their cash drawer too, but not again.

Stopped here for lunch on our way from Reading to Taunton. Looks very ordinary but did a good lunch of fresh baguettes and chips. Suited us.

Although the pub was quiet the landlady was very welcoming and pleasant, and could not do enough for us. My sister and I enjoyed a very tasty and good-value-for-money lunch. The food was freshly cooked to order. We were doing a recce to see if it could accommodate our elderly father's wheelchair which it did - everything on the same level, including access to the car park and toilets. This is a traditional English pub - not a themed kid's playground. A gem in our opinion.

Have just visited this pub when we stayed at the Premiere Inn at Ruishton. If you are looking for a nice friendly pub do not bother to go here. The Landlord was extremely negative and we felt he did not want us there. We were going to have a meal there but felt if the lack of care and attention to customers was that poor we didn't even want to try the food. We felt we needed a rule book as soon as you walked through the door with the do's and don'ts informed to us by the landlord as we started to play pool. When we asked about the skittle Alley we were told he would have to open it all up and we would have to pay as well (as though we would have expected it for nothing). All in all felt very unwelcomed and left after one drink.

Excellent cask ales and friendly staff

Good friendly village pub. New chargrill menu is great. Good car park. Cask Marque real ales. I am a regular user and Caroline and Malcolm have done a great job keeping it going in difficult circumstances. Lots of village pubs are closing e very week, use it don't abuse it.
