A really simple review. The coffee at RICH is solid gold quality. Had a couple now and not reviewed, but had a flat white Friday and it is without doubt the best coffee in Newbury. Absolutely gorgeous flavor. Staff are always brilliant also.

My husband and I love this place! It has the best cake and coffee in Newbury and the music is wonderful! It's great to have an independent coffee shop that caters to music fans. The seats are comfortable and it's a great place to relax. The sausage rolls are really tasty too. We are regulars now and it's our go to place for coffee!

Found this little gem of a coffee house. I am training here in Newbury. I went here for lunch and had the Artizan Sausage Roll which was Pork and Cranberry with crisps and a Americano all very nice. Will be back as I would like to try the cakes next time and the giant crumpet. Thank you 😊

After driving to 2 garden centres north and then south of Newbury with a very poorly husband who has barely been out of the house for months we were looking forward to a pleasant lunch. However, we wete refused entry as DOGS NOT ALLOWED, even a small well behaved one. By this time as a worn out carer I was close to crying. So we drove to central Newbury, all very gruelling for someone seriously ill, poor hubbie had a long very difficult walk to a restaurant that served us lunc & allowed our dog.. Then to Rufus for an excellent coffee, quality cakes & a cosy atmosphere, with our dog. Every time we have been here we have never been disappointed, (except slightly that the superb baked cheesecake is never on sale!) Thank you for cheering us up and making our pooch welcome. This is the best coffee shop in Newbury by far, most others sell over processed, tasteless mass produced cakes, which look like they've been frozen & defrosted.

Live music, today 27.1.24. Rufus has already become my favourite coffee shop, visit at least once a week (often more). Perfect coffee & decor. The sausage rolls are amazing, also love the selection of crumpets. The cakes are to die for, especially Shirley’s sticky ginger cake.

Now our go to coffee shop in Newbury. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Good music and comfortable seating. Like the way they have brought out the original features of the old property. Importantly the coffee and pastries are really good!

Fabulous first visit to this wee gem in Newbury. Great coffee, outstanding black pudding sausage roll and excellent service. An eclectic place with cosy furnishings and a superb library of rock miscellany. Folks from Newbury and beyond, pay it a visit or we’ll lose it.

Absolutely loved everything about the restaurant. Food was a really high standard, well presented and a good variety (everything from turkey with all the trimmings to a vegan pithivier). The waiters/waitresses were a little shy but we had great service. It's an absolute bargain for a 3 course christmas dinner (£20!), what's not to like

Tucked away in a retirement complex is this super little place offering a variety of delicious food, all home made, at ridiculously reasonable prices, prepared and served by a lovely couple. Find it and give it a try.

Having been lucky enough to attend several of Louise’s supper club evenings it’s obvious that her skills as a chef and host go above and beyond. From the moment you arrive in her beautiful, welcoming house, the perfect tone is set for the evening and you know you’re in for a wonderful event. The table is set immaculately, with fresh flowers and tasteful crockery, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. The food is consistently, absolutely delicious. Each course thoughtfully prepared, using local suppliers, bursting with seasonal flavour, and beautifully presented. Louise’s relaxed manner makes for not only an incredible feast, but being able to watch her at work, in my opinion, is one of the best parts of Mortimer Supper Club. It’s a privilege to have the ‘insider view’ to watch her effortlessly create course after course, with what seems like minimal effort, when in fact she consistently knocks out high end fare. Unforgettable, unique evenings, combined with exquisite food in a stunning home, I can’t wait for my next supper club gathering!

Beth has made many lovely treats for us, and they’re amazing every time. She’s so talented when it comes to both the taste of the items and the design. Thank you so much!

This place is a slice of perfection that delivered a 5 star experience across the board. Friendly and helpful staff greeted us and sat us down. The ambience and the decor is so warm and inviting but whilst it is a bit posh and a bit fancy, it has a sense of fun about it as well. I felt special without feeling uncomfortable. My wife and I were in for Sunday Lunch and I have to tell you, I was really hungry! When our mains arrived I was impressed with the look and variety of items on the plate and there was plenty of it. The Lamb was beautiful and every element on the plate was perfect individually but when it all came together it was mind blowing food. I had lamb, my wife had beef and they came with all the trimmings you would expect including cauliflower cheese on the side. The buttery veg and the sweet puree really gelled the whole dish together. For dessert we opted for a posset which was classically simple and delicious and super light which was very welcome after helping to finish my wife's main! She had the key lime pie and we had fun trying to guess the ingredients in the base, there were complex flavours in there that we just weren't sure of, that worked really well together. So we will have to go back and try again soon! 10 out of 10, the experience and the food was superb, I can't praise The Hartley Arms highly enough.
