Rubbal's Takeaway in West Lothian

Was at an event over the weekend and looked for places to grab food throughout. This place popped up on Just eat and it was two minutes up the road. So I took a punt. Walking up to it I started to think "Oh dear" but never judge a book by it's cover, the reviews seemed to be good overall, so I went for it. Friday evening, munchy box. Donner was ace, quite herby, not greasy or grisly. Pakora was bang on too, nicely cooked again not greasy, donner pakora was a nice surprise. Plenty of places mess up cooking chips of all things, boom nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Due to what I seen the burgers looking like on Friday, I went for one on Saturday. Again spot on, nice char on the outside, juicy on the inside. Bun wasn't stale or dry. Honestly just spot on. Only thing as mentioned earlier is when walking up to it you think "oh dear". Not sure if they're new and will be working on a lick of paint at some point or not though but that's the only thing I'd say was "wrong". Staff were friendly too, remembered me from the Friday and asked how my food was. Also, if you miss the "real" tasting Pepsi instead of the sweetener filled rubbish we get now, see these guys! Heh Heh I know this is a big review for a wee takeaway but I have to give credit where credit is due.

Ordered on just eat wanted Lamb madras, Had to pick between,chicken, chicken tikka or paneer, not much of an option, as no lamb! Curry is here ,and I'm sorry guys that is not a madras, doesn't taste like madras not the colour of madras, and the tub is an inch thick in oil !!! Worst curry I've ever experienced ,I am afghan ,so not happy I'm afraid, can't just pass anything off as madras, I'm a curry fiend ,and I know my bhuna from my puri and madras from my goan. Called the shop after considering how much I didn't want to offend anyone,but was really hungry , So called ,moaned and I had a lovely gentleman who said okay ,I'll make you a curry, no chef nothing ,I'll do it . Curry is here , and wow wow wow , I've went from the worst to the best I've ever tasted , my granny khan couldn't make a better one. So to the kind man who made me the curry! Ur the best ,the curry is absolutely بارِز. Very happy , taste , colour, spice ,everything is excellent 👌

Had a curry for the first time here. Rubbal’s curry was excellent. Have eaten here many times but this was the first time trying their curry. Absolutely delicious, had it with a very good plain nan bread.

Had rubbals special calzone with the curry sauce and donner, blew my mind

If you want delicious and tasty burger 🍔 I can definitely recommend the Rubbal’s Special Burger. I had a Gordon Ramsay Street Burger recently and was unimpressed however, the Rubbal’s burger was top class and half the price! Fantastic place for a takeaway, delicious curries also. Staff are friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10 *****

We have ordered several times from this takeaway and food is generally good however wait times are ridiculous and the quality of food is definitely not worth the wait times. This is the second time we have waited over 2 hours for food and both times been lied to on the phone regarding the wait times. I would much rather be told the truth wait time is 2 hours then it’s my decision to wait or cancel order and not be lied too repeatedly.

We had pizza, a chicken wrap and loaded chips. Everything was amazing especially the fries, will definitely be back! We were back, I had the best burger I've ever had! It wasn't the usual cheap patty from chippys. It was a proper one! My partner loved her chicken wrap again.

Ordered a 12 inch pizza at last order on Saturday night at 11pm and was hot and freshly made also surprisingly I got the last order as it was half 11 and it came at midnight.

Recently moved back to Bathgate and asked around to find out where was good for some kebab meat and was told about Rubbals by a few friends and family members. Me and my fiancé ordered a donner kebab along with a donner meat, chips and cheese hoagie however upon arrival we realised that the hoagie wasn't anything like I had seen before (see picture). I gave them a call and was told they are sending me out another hoagie so I'll review this again when it arrives and I get to try it! Overall, my fiance's dinner kebab was cold and the bread was broken however she did say it tasted nice despite it not being too warm and the bread being a bit of a mess. When I called to raise the issue they gentleman on the phone was polite and appeared to deal with it well so I can't fault them on there customer service so far, just disappointed that the hoagie came as it did.

Food was excellent. Recommend the topped chips with the spicy chicken. Perfect service forgot drinks on my order and the guy sorted me out due to a large order. Thank you will be back again when working in your area.

Best takeaway in Bathgate, never been disappointed in my meal. I.don't normally eat kebab but the chicken kebab is amazing 😋

Lots of delicious food to choose from on the menu.. mouth actually waters when reading 😋 Burger meals were my first order from here after being recommended by a couple of neighbours.. Easy to order online.. I collected this one to go in and see the place.. smelt amazing when I went in.. staff were friendly and quick to respond... Food was plentiful and absolutely delicious also comes with a choice of drinks 100% going back It's now a firm member of my takeaway rotation ❤️ Thanks guys

Food finally arrived, but very late. All cold and burned so rather disgisting. One box squased. Generally looking like it was chewed by a dog. Most of it went straight to the bin. Ordered from them a few times now and I think this place is rolling down the hill with their quality. I won't use them again.

Consistently wonderful food, speedy service. Order on their app, it gives you a rough time when your delivery will arrive. Or go in, always friendly service. I can highly recommend the double piri piri (mild) chicken burger meal, outstanding!

Avoid Avoid Avoid if you treasure your health and hard earned cash. Food cold, order wrong and waited over 1.5hrs And gave us both severe diorhea.... And when called to see where food was as been an age he told us on way and hung up on me, called again to report wrong order and he hung up on me yet again... AVOID AVOID AVOID......!!!!!!

The food here is excellent and well priced but the delivery is shocking. If you’re setting a delivery charge at £2.50 and service charge at £0.50 and you have a 75 minute delivery window stated on your website then I expect the order to be delivered within 75 minutes not 30 minutes late. Highly recommend them! But you may want to order for collection. Best takeaway in Bathgate.

Got chips and cheese was close to my house so thought why not only cost 2.60 but chips were pver done and cheese was stringy and garlic sauce was lumpy

We stopped here on our way back from 5 sisters zoo. The food was really fresh and very nice. Owner is very friendly and has amazing customer services. Would recommend to everyone and will be back again to try more of their delicious food.

Ordered tonight got a king-size doner meat and chips. The kebab meat was like plastic and the chips were very dry (reheated) I called and was told that it has been the same food/ supplier for 2 years (Not true) I was a very good customer long ago when there food was good but now it is awful the kebab meat smelled like dog breath!! .. I phoned and complained and told I would get a refund.. after an hour and a half the woman delivery driver came to my door and took the delivery money from it. Won't be delivering again she was also very rude. Asked for the food back which I was happy to give her but it was in the blue bin which it was in so she opened it but because it was at the bottom she didn't take it. The man told me on the phone just to bin the food. She just told me she was going home . Will never deliver from here again and neither should you .. terrible food and also terrible customer service.

Ordered a 10" munchie box. You get two sauces with it. I specifically mentioned 1x garlic sauce and 1x pakora sauce to them. They forget them both. They literally had 2 things to remember and couldn't even manage that. Brain dead.

The pizza dough is amazing. Pappa John's, Domino's and pizza hut have nothing on these guys. Delivery driver (hanky bald) always with a smile and very polite. This is my go to pizza takeaway when I'm visiting Scotland. Surprisingly cheap with lots of choices. And the owner clearly take so much care and attention over every tiny detail of the menu. The only down side is quality of donner meat (the smell ). 10/10

Overpaid ten pounds (our error but driver never let on) ended up a £12 tip..dishonest staff. All 3 meals were stone cold..no salad on kebab and pizza was undercooked with no topping. Straight in the bin with the menu.

I have now used this takeaway for the 5th time, and I find it great value for me. Food is freshly made, and when you get it either by picking the order or getting it delivered, the food is hot and you get plenty of it.

Fast delivery and quality food. They also read the notes submitted with the order and carry the requests out

They still accept cash as payment

Had a real craving for chicken so thought we'd try Rubbals new Peri Peri range and we were not disappointed. We ordered strips, wings and thighs, with the mild, lemon and herb, and mango and lime seasoning respectively. All the chicken was tasty and beautifully grilled. I'm away to spend the rest of my Saturday night in a blissful chicken coma in front of the telly. We will absolutely be adding this to our regular take-away rotation!

Tikka kebab was excellent. The separate salad was very separate as it was still in the shop and the extra sauce is only extra in the charge....ie no extra sauce in meal. Tasty but dissatisfied on easy order discrepancies

Had to order on Scoffable after unsuccessfully having no answer from your phone for 30 minutes and it saying the line was busy, now having to pay the ridiculous service charge just to buy food

Our orsee had a mistake to it, to which we let the shop know. They then sent us out a brand new order fresh for free. Resolved the problem.

Unfortunately I have a poor review that I would like to voice. Our order took over an hour to arrive, I rang once an hour had past to check where it was, I was told it would be 5mins for it to then show up a further 15mins later. The food was not edible it was cold and not tasty. I also order a number of drinks mine wasn’t in the order received. Waste of £40 odd Overall disappointment.

this eatery's going downhill fast. i ordered a chicken kebab with a pitta bread. the chicken was dry, overcooked & tough as old boots! the pitta bread was rock hard & obviously 'cooked' in a microwave as you could not heat pitta in an oven for an hour & have it turn out as hard as it was!! needless to say it all went in the bin. we were offered a replacement pitta or some sort of 'freebie' on our next visit but to be honest, this was our last visit and won't be using Spiceland again.

Waited 1 hour 20 mins for delivery! When he arrived he woke the neighbour up at 11.50... when we opened the meal it was cold and had to be microwaved. 2nd time and last time to use.
