Carvery and staff where fab as always

10/10 place to visit... Food excellent.. Staff very friendly.. Excellent atmosphere and so much room.. Most definitely one of my favourite pubs in Scotland to visit..

Good food , good staff, very helpful

Popped in for a quick lunch after attending a morning event in Edinburgh. Although easy to find the pub is a little off the beaten track and nestles in an industrial estate - don't let that put you off though as the food and welcome are excellent. We had a carvery and a pizza with a side of chips - the pizza in particular was delicious and went down a treat. We were very well looked after by the staff, and spoke to a neighbouring table who agreed that the service was brilliant. It's a pity that this little gem is so hidden away - that's the only reason I can think of why it wasn't bustling on a Saturday lunch.

Always a lovely greeting and great carvery

Normally we are all big fans of the brucefield, but not today!! Booked a table for 12 noon for 5 people 3 adults 2 children, was an end option for time I picked 1.45 as was the latest given, to give us time for meal and possibly pudding and just time to enjoy our meal, was told on entry our table was booked out for 1.30 so would have to be finished by then. Felt this was a bit rude being told when to leave before even being seated! Meant we were constantly clock watching and didn’t even bother with dessert! Then we all opted for the Go Large cavery option, which is meant to have extra meat! Barely got half the amount of meat people with the smaller portions were getting, also the peace of gammon I was served was disgusting! It was the dregs, something u would give to your dogs! Not impressed today at all.

Amazing food, great customer service. The staff are kind and friendly. Eat here if you can !! I certainly will. And great with my dog, brought her a bowl of water.

Excellent meal carvery was very good and fresh 😋 starters were very good also.

Warm and welcoming, great value for money if eating midweek. Would recommend, especially for families with children as has a good outdoor play park. Would have been 5 stars for food except some of the carvery items looked like they needed refreshed as past there best.

Carvery was terrible and the customer service just as bad other guests made it enjoyable management did make right on the issues I will say that.

Went for a breakfast this morning and Evonne could not have done any more to make our experience any better. She even came and changed the settings on the toaster to make it toasted the way I like it. Great staff

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, however good was rather disappointing. Burnt doughballs, delayed halloumi fries (first batch were burnt) and raw dough in the calzone.

Dinner with the family at 5:30 on a Saturday evening. The place wasn't full by any stretch but it still took nearly an hour and a quarter to get our starters. Had to ask at the bar twice for updates and were told it would be "soon" both times. Aside from that, the food is average (maybe due to whatever chaos in the kitchen is going on) and the place looks tired. Peeled off wallpaper in the toilets and lights that don't work Don't expect we will go back

Ordered food at 5.30pm, still waiting for our food at 6.45pm. We went up to check 3 times (6.15pm, 6.30pm, 6.45pm) and twice got told to go back to our seats while they check with the kitchen (bear in mind nobody got back to us at all) and the third time only to get told they can only put on a couple burgers at a time so our 2 burgers are still waiting to get onto the grill. Our burgers eventually came, definitely overcooked, burger meat was so hard me and my husband had a hard time even cutting it not to even say chew it. Safe to say we won’t be back anytime soon.

I had the carvery and I was very lucky , just as I got to the front of the queue they brought out a new beef and ham , beautiful 😍 kids all had pizza and destroyed them , wife had the fish , loved it . Desserts all round and again clean plates . 5 people mains and dessert with drinks about £80 which I thought was reasonable. All enjoyed would recommend.

Food was awful my husband couldn't eat his at all & I could only eat a small amount of mine. We complained to the waiter & he said he would let the kitchen staff know. I would not reccommend the Brucefield

Service was really slow. Had to chase twice for desserts.

Carvery is always hot & is very tasty. No improvement needed. 5*+

Came in with our two reactive border collies and they were great with us. My boy is a nervous rescue and they put us in a big table in the corner, out of the way which was great. Service was amazing, very friendly and we let them pet the dogs which they handled well Food was fantastic. Plenty of vegetarian options, and one of the few places that does cavary not on a Sunday. Both of us are stuffed. Very reasonably priced as well Definitely coming back

Been a couple of times recently for breakfast. I'd never been before this. We thoroughly enjoyed the all you can eat breakfast and ate enough to keep us going all day! Service was great, friendly but professional 👌 Must try dinner soon 😋

Took advantage of a half price carvery voucher and wasn't disappointed ....... lovely turkey and ham carved by a friendly chef added roast potatoes stuffing and green beans £6. All staff pleasant and engaging .........highly recommended

Went here on 23rd of December to celebrate my son's birthday. Was disappointed with the quality of the food. Most of it was burnt or cremated. Paid extra for pigs n blankets and was given 3 small sausages without bacon on them which were all shriveled up. Also ordered food not from carvery which took 20 minutes to arrive. Staffs attitude was pleasant either. Place is very dated and desperate need of a refurb. Will I return? Probably not.

Cracking buffet breakfast served daily. Chloe great wee waitress. Chatty and friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere. Table 24 was perfect this morning.. Thanks again for a perfect Saturday morning. Just had a great meal Saturday afternoon with family. Thank you once again. Back again for a cracking buffet breakfast. A regular haunt now on a Saturday morning. Other regulars have good banter with. If you want a reasonable breakfast at a great price and friendly atmosphere then this is the place. Just back from another visit for lunch.xmas eve.restaraunt was fairly busy and a very festive atmosphere. food was delivered in a timely manner considering restaraunt was busy. Food was spot on as usual. Calzone meat feast was perfect. Thanks again to all staff and have a good festive period.🥳

I was here today , Fiona the server was extremely helpful and is an abolsolute credit to your company, She was not only kind going out of her way to help myself and family , I also observed her being the sale with every customer she interacted with. I will definitely return.

We eat here regularly and always enjoy the food. The staff are excellent and the waitress Chloe are very helpful. As I am celiac I have to watch what I eat and Chloe was very knowledgeable and helped me.

Just had a pizza party for my son’s 11th birthday here - what a great experience! Chloe was in charge of the party and was fantastic with all of the kids. My son has additional needs and she was understanding and responsive, ensuring he was the centre of attention and had the help or extra instructions he needed. She was also on top of the dietary needs we had in the group, and kept the party clipping along at a fun pace. The ice cream course for dessert was a huge hit, and there was even time for a wee game of pass the parcel with a wee parcel I’d prepared and brought from home! Two other members of staff who were also great were Chelsea, who dashed back and forth with juices and napkins and everything else we needed, and Jordan who somehow managed to tell 10 very similar looking pizza creations apart and cook them to yummy perfection for our little chefs! To be fair all the staff were tremendous; I just didn’t catch everyone’s name! We will definitely be back again for a pizza party here, this party package is a hidden gem.

Needs to be updated. Drove 1.5hrs with my family from Dundee as it says it closes at 6pm . Got there at 2.45 only to be turned away as they close at 4pm??? Had to turn back with a screaming toddler. Disappointing.

Decent food, some of the staff are friendly and helpful, but there's no atmosphere in the place

Unhappy with the state of the chairs and condition of sofas to sit on. The food was dry and was half empty. No gravy, the atmosphere was way too noisy with screaming kids. At one point i felt like leaving. The orange i ordered was dry and tasteless. I did not enjoy my expereince and wont be back. .

We went for the carvery which was nice. Food could have been a bit hotter but what we had was good. The place is a bit run down and could do with a bit of TLC. Not much of an atmosphere. Quite a few kids crying and screaming when we were there. Myself and my elderly mother were put besides all the kids for some reason? . We would have stayed for a sweet but it was too noisy so we left. We probably won't go back.

Wonderful place to eat. The staff are simply fantastic - they've always been wonderful to my girls. It's a regular place to go to for us. Can't recommend it enough.

What a waste of money. My daughter on standard carvery get more meat like me on large one. Yorkshire puddings was rock soled not fresh. On path few slabs was loose with water underneath I stood on them and get my shoes flooded...

The food tasted good. We visited at 6:30pm and had a carvery however a lot of the carvery options were running low or had already run out. It was only when we were at the carvery station that we were advised that there would be no new batches of meat and vegetables coming out. This was very disappointing as it limited our choice quite significantly. It would be good if when we arrived and were seated that our server advised us that the carvery was coming to an end as this would have allowed us to look first and potentially order something different from the menu.

The kids enjoyed their meal which was chicken nuggets and chips. Myself, husband and Mother-in-Law ordered the carvery. The roast potatoes were rock solid, not sure how long they had been lying out for, the stuffing was the same. The cuts of meat were small and there was limited choice of vegetables in comparison to other carveries. Also, my husband went for the larger carvery which came with pigs in blankets and they were burnt. The restaurant was very quiet so the staff had time to ensure fresh food was out and was edible. Desserts were lovely though. The staff were friendly and welcoming it was just the quality of the carvery that was very poor.

Chloe was a great host and was very welcoming, as were all the staff. Food was pretty good and reasonably priced. We have dined here before and will no doubt dine here again.

Lovely buffet breakfast , fresh & warm

This place has been under several owners/chain franchises since it opened in the nineties, when ordering, paying up front for your food and making your own selection at the carvery was a novelty. The only reason I still pop in once or twice a year is for the convenience as I live locally. The whole place is looking dowdy and in need of a refurb and makeover. The carpets, seats and upholstery need updated. The tables and menus are often sticky and in need of a good wipe down. And the imitation mill machinery in the conservatory no longer impresses. The food quality and service are inconsistent. Last time I was there a few weeks ago, the female staff at the bar were friendly and attentive enough but the young lad at the carvery looked indifferent as if he couldn’t care less. I’m not a big meat eater but again the quality varies and the veg is either dried up and overcooked or simply just cold. The desserts are adequate but like many similar establishments, overpriced. The last time I was there no ice cream was available for some unexplained reason. Just like the interior, the outside could do with a spruce up, especially the path from the side car park to the entrance. I have to say that both the Chain Runner and Ratho Park provide a much better dining experience. I don’t like posting negative reviews but you really need to pull your socks up, Brucefield!
