Royal Thai Restaurant in Milton Keynes

Lovely place for some Thai food. Meal was tasty though the green curry was a little thin and could do with a bit more meat. Would come again to try other things though :).

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Royal Thai, and let me tell you, it was an absolute disaster. First off, they served squid in a supposedly vegetarian dish, which is not only unacceptable but also a potential lawsuit waiting to happen. The staff seemed more interested in catering to the all-white, middle-aged clientele, as my friends and I, being the only ethnic patrons, were met with nothing but glares and looks of disdain. Despite having made a reservation, we were rudely told to leave at a certain time, as if our presence was somehow inconveniencing them. And don't even get me started on the excruciatingly long wait for our food – a whopping 50 minutes of being blatantly disregarded while others were served promptly. It's clear that they prioritized certain customers based on age or ethnicity. To top it all off, the food was utterly bland, lacking any semblance of flavor or authenticity. Oh, and let's not forget the minuscule table we were crammed into, making the whole experience even more uncomfortable. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place like the plague, unless you happen to fit their narrow demographic of white, middle-aged aged diners.

Absolutely shocking. I ordered pad thai, two green curry's and some starters. Food was shockingly poor. The coconut rice in particular was disgusting boil in the bag rice charged at £5 a portion!!

Went for lunch. They have a good value quick lunch menu & it was indeed speedy.

Ordered crispy duck with the pan cake etc, on returning home I was really disappointed talk about shedded it was just small bits of duck no decent pieces of duck, it was like something you would get from some takeaways as I have encountered in the past, not something you would expect from a reputable Restaurant, I have used this restaurant in the past and food has always been reasonable, staff ok didn't seem that friendly as I have encountered over the years. Definitely won't be ordering the Duck again not if it comes like that. And at a £18 for takeaway and £22 to eat in. Really feel ripped off. I am sorry to have to write this review, but I feel so strongly about what I received.

We had a table of 12 booked and everything came out fast, hot and fresh. They even put on an impromptu happy birthday for us when they found out we had a cake for someone. Superb evening.

Take away order of pad Thai. Dry craggy noodles and very little else. Zero flavour barely any other ingredients, waste of time and money. Worst Thai food I have ever had sadly.

Ordered as takeout came to £49 for 2 & barely enough food for one whilst it tasted good please expect to pay 4 times the amount for a satisfactory quantity for 2 adults. £4.95 bag of sticky rice wasn’t enough for one. When you order a takeout you expect full tubs especially of the fillers such as rice. When contacted the lady was very pleasant in her demeanour but said restaurant has been like this for 25 years without complaint please check trip adviser because I don’t think she does. If we had we would’ve ordered elsewhere & actually been fed. Royal Thai stuck to their guns & whilst listened to my feedback advised me to contact ubereats from where it was ordered. Time to order another takeaway from elsewhere as we are still very hungry.

Food was excellent, best meal I've had in ages to be honest, slight mishap with a drink but other than that 1st class

We normally get takeout from the Royal Thai in Northampton but as it's shut on a Monday, we took a trip down to the Stony Stratford restaurant instead. Arriving when it opened at 6pm, it was empty and the guy who served us was attentive and polite but didn't make us feel like he was hovering. The food was as good as any we've had from either the Northampton restaurant or as takeaway and there was enough that we all ate well without leaving lots- even the 3yr old enjoyed pad Thai and prawn toast. We'll be going back to eat in more often, it was a lovely meal.

Great food, we had a set meal for 2, which gave us a great starter selection, with 2 prawn mains and a further beef main and jasmine rice, All the food was tastey and well presented and no sign of MSG. Just great, it's a traditional Thai restaurant with Thai style ornaments.

I had a lunch special at £8.5. It's surprisingly authentic to my taste! The side ingredients are richly provided with a slightly too sweet green curry sauce, like the one you would have in Thailand. I probably would prefer a firmer rice texture, but then here is England! Def will visit again.

Food was incredible. Starter platter was full of fantastic flavours with the exception of the prawns which were pretty flavourless. Mains were sweet and sour pork, pad Thai and green chicken curry. All fantastic. But...the service was pretty soulless. No eye contact from lady taking our order who smelt of smoke. When she came to get payment there was no thank you just rushed away. Very quite in restaurant only 3 days

My favourite local Thai. Great food, friendly staff. Good idea to book at the weekend as it gets busy. They do great value weekday business lunch for under £12 each.

First visit here and really enjoyed our meal. The chicken satay was yum and my jumbo prawns Nam Prik Pao was sublime. Big fat juicy prawns. My husbands Thai red chicken curry was lovely too. Great service , will be back 👌👌

It is a little cozy restaurant, but the food and service were excellent every time! The atmosphere was great. I really recommend to have the lunch specials 😊

Great food, good service & good value. I've been to Thailand a few times too, so my expectations of Thai food are quite tough. They even understood my poor effort at speaking Thai!

Noodles were all compacted with an undescribable flavour (?). Yellow curry was very liquid and the calamari was soggy. It didn't help that it was a takeaway so it took 20 minutes to start eating but still I can't recommend.

A great place to go for a quick lunch. Food is great and reasonably priced.

Great value lunch & superb food.

Normally i would have given 5 starts for this place as iv had some of the best food here, but I was extremely disappointed on my last visit. Main dish Prawns were hard and tasteless costing nearly £16, also prawn starters were tough and not nice. I'm hoping it's just a blip, iv been told its changed hands which may explain the changes. I will give it one more try in a while to see if it was just a blip as it's hard to be 100% 100% of the time. But if it was same as last time then I wouldn't return. As it isn't cheap. But usually worth the money.

Delicious fresh meals. Favourite restaurant. Have moved from MK. I find not being able to eat here as often as I'd like the saddest part of that. Not been able to find another Thai like it in York or anywhere in the north east.

Very tasty food at a great price! Unfortunately was given the wrong order when I went in to pick up my takeout, but they quickly brought the correct one to my address after I notified them!

First time went it and, me being very specific with my food I gave it a go and will be going back for sure. From entrance to exit the staff went above and beyond to make a visit warm and welcoming. Food was prepared in no time.it was absolutely delicious. 5stars and more 🍲

Dim sum tonight.. Best starter ive had in ages. Just an "Oh My God" moment. The following Pad Thai was equally satisfying. I'm so grateful to have this standard of food on my doorstep...

Exceptional food. The som tam was lovely and it is hard to find at other places. If you are strict vegetarian explain when ordering that you do not want fish sauce. We had a very long waiting time on my second visit, about 40minutes for main courses. Disappointed that there is no mango sticky rice on menu.

As a family we have travelled to Thailand many times so it was fantastic to discover this incredible restaurant that serves delicious authentic Thai cuisine! Our kids lapped up the noodles, whilst we enjoyed several speciality dishes! The service is fantastic, making us feel right at home. We will definitely be back!

The food is always absolutely amazing, relaxed atmosphere and always leave feeling full and happy!

Used to go here a lot, then we had a not so good meal and went off it. Went back last night as we liked the place. Service etc was to the usual high standard. The food was better than at our previous visit but still not quite right. My wife likes crispy duck but the duck was just warm and the pancakes stuck together. I had a soup with chicken but the chicken was tough and chewy. Disappointing,but not fuss-worthy. Main courses were fine; to be honest, I didn't particularly enjoy mine but that's my fault for trying something different! Nice place but food needs more attention to detail.

Have eaten at the Royal Thai on a number of occasions when on business in Milton Keynes. Have always been happy both with the service and quality of the dishes. Other reviewers negatively reference the owners young children in the restaurant but I've not experienced a problem - if present at all they've been well behaved, and unobtrusive. Royal Thai remains on my favourite list in the area.
