Just had a delivery, cut into my pancake roll & the smell turned me sick. Obviously something has been used in there that has gone off. We couldn’t eat any of our food after that, which came to £32. Tried phoning them, but they refused to answer. Several times. Will not be returning here yuk.

Have had takeaway food which was excellent but I ordered a takeaway consisting of chicken balls and a special chow mien. The chicken balls where terrible been reheated in the fryer rock hard and burnt chicken inside the chow mien disappointing same the meat? reheated and dry . Wasted and put in the bin.

Very disappointed- never again. Had been recommended to us for the Malaysian curry which was just a typical Chinese curry, nothing particularly Malaysian about it. Chips were horrible frozen oven chips. Curry was thick and gloopy. Singapore chow mien was heavily coated in a curry powder. Chicken balls, tasteless and bland. We paid £37 for awful food. Substandard, poor ‘Chinese’ fare. Be warned, don’t waste your money. Avoid at all costs.

Special curry is tiny. Everything else large apart from curry

Had a delivery on Monday 29 October the food came it was cold found a hair in it phoned the place up but did not seam to bothered absolutely disgusting

Delivery can be bit slow sometimes but this time it was quick. The food is delicious & hot. Happy to recommend. Prices are increased but no more than average now everywhere.

The place looked clean but a bit untidy. The chips were hard, but the curry sauce was nice. Would not go there again. Sorry guys.

I always have to ask for the duck to be shredded but elsewhere it's always shredded? This time i said shredded but it arrived unshredded yet again, for the umpteenth time.

Food is always good but portions seem to get smaller and smaller . They never offer complimentary prawn crackers . Ordered side of veggie spring rolls , had a total of 3 😂

We have a large family and have enjoyed the fantastic food, service and value for money for the last 20 years, since the restaurant was in the lounge of the pub. We will continue to call every Friday for our takeaway and support the restaurant and it's staff through these unprecedented times. We cannot wait for the restaurant to re-open.

Hadn't had anything from here for probably 10 Years. Use most local Chinese in Pontypridd on a very regular basis. However, will only be using here from now on. Every dish when delivered was boiling hot, and absolutely stunning. 5 Star. Amazing. Stunning.

Picked up our chinese was n happy wont have another chinese from here the sweet and sour chicken balls was reheated and saturated in fat and burnt beef chop suey hardly any beef not much else fried rice was nice and prawn crackers were nice

Food tastes great and fresh , during difficult times of lockdwn , efficient service with delivery and always a price u cannot beat . Highly recommended by myself and my three teenagers .

Firstly 2.5hrs to deliver then meal was not warm enough because their car had broken down the driver said. Driver was polite & offered replacement but we didn't want to wait again. Curry had no sauce & it was that awful cubed, re-constituted chicken. So over £16 for 2 mains mostly of rice. Thye were chicken curry/rice in a tray, special fried rice with a tub of sweet/sour sauce & prawn crackers. Very poor overall this time sadly.

Normally really nice had food tonight cold greasy and flavourless was not happy at all and I only live 5mins away from them

Firstly an hour & a half is really too long to wait even on a Saturday. Then it wasn't packed properly. The spare ribs in sauce were, for some reason, packed sideways down & all the sauce had spilled into the bag. Chips were undercooked so were a little hard, very pale & tasteless. As has become the norm portions are much smaller than they used to be. Shame as this place is usually very good.

We Have always enjoyed the food here but the last four occasions we have pre ordered our food to take away. Told a time to pick up our food and then waiting on average an extra half hour to an hour. Completely pointless ordering food in advance. The last time we have ordered we even had dishes missing. After coming here for a long time we will be taking our custom else where.

Definitely the best Chinese takeaway in the area! We’ve tried plenty and none compared. The satay beef is the best. And the staff are lovely.

Delicious food, tastiest Chinese we believe in the Pontypridd area albeit smaller portion sizes. Recommend the BBQ ribs. We ordered honey ribs on the last occasion &, although nice, the sauce was too thin. Worth the wait which, on a Saturday, can be up to an hour.

Food is great but sadly i can't say the same about the customer service they took a long time to take my order and the server was rude.

My curry was increadably salty, should av sent it back. Was the first bad meal I have had there in over 10 yesrs

Put a order in waited 2 hours still no delivery fobbed off with excuses was told out of delivery then told needs to be re cooked in the end had to order from somewhere else customer service was shocking never phoned back to update us

Always go here for my annual birthday meal in may and every time it’s spot on the food is of amazing quality and potions sizes are brilliant and the flavouring of every dish is spot on and I can’t wait to be visiting again soon

Had a take away delivery this week, it was very enjoyable but portions do seem to be in smaller containers these days though prices are rising albeit slowly over the past year or so. 2 mains, 1 side, 1 chips over £20 with delivery.

Stunning piping hot food, full of flavour. Very friendly staff, They were very busy but still managed to serve us to a very high standard. Easily the best Chinese in Pontypridd! Highly recommended! Only negative I can possibly say is the restaurant was a little chilly.

The food was bland the chicken was just grissle, the chow me in was greasy and the special fried rice gave my husband food poisoning all for £32 not worth it at all!

Had a takeaway and lovely as always! Love the salt and chilli chips and the BBQ sauce (brown- not the red rubbish) is AMAZING! Over the last few years have also ate in here but have not done this recently.

Very friendly staff who were more than happy to cater for slight dish changes to accommodate allergies. Lemon chicken was lovely and served with the sauce separate :-) pork chow mien was also very tasty. Good portions for 2 to share.

La comida es buena y hemos estado muchas veces a lo largo de los años. Todo esta noche comenzó bien con una cálida bienvenida, un buen servicio de bebidas y aperitivos buenos pero pronto se vieron frustrados durante la entrega del plato principal, que en última instancia nos estropeó la comida. Parecía que vienen en 4 lotes y a mitad de camino a través de esta servían una mesa de 8!! lo que resultó en un retraso de 2 platos principales. Sirven una mesa en un momento por favor cuando brindar platos principales. No hay punto sirve un curry y 10 minutos más tarde el arroz.

Went for a mid week meal, so nothing special but the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious, we didn't have to wait too long for it to come out either.

My wife and I along with two friends called in one evening. Very impressed with the menu choice and the reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly, polite and efficient. Our meal was absolutely delicious and the portion size was generous. Will definitely be returning and can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

We order a takeaway from the Royal Oak almost every week and have eaten in a few times. They have a large menu and between us we've eaten a wide selection from it! Nothing ever disappoints, everything is so tasty! The set meals are delicious and great value for money. I can't recommend them highly enough!

I really don't knew how this is number 1 on trip adviser. Food was average but it was cheap. The place needs a complete face lift. It looks like a dirty old pub inside and would only recommend a take away. They didn't even have a card machine to pay shocking!!!!I. I don't like giving places bad reviews but I done this because I've been to most places around and everywhere else was far nicer.

Have used the royal oak for take away Chinese for many years as I lived a few doors down, but having recently moved a couple of miles away, I continue to drive to this take away for collection as it's the best in Ponty. Haven't bothered to try local ones to my new home as don't think I'll find better! Never had a bad meal here. Food always very tasty and boiling hot. Highly recommend the chicken in satay sauce.. Delicious! Also does the best curry sauce! Yum

Visited here on a Saturday night. Staff very polite and efficient. Food was served very quickly hot delicious and big portion sizes, Resnoable price. They even put our leftovers in to takeaway cartons for us The desserts are a bit of a let down mainly ice cream that's if you can manage one. Will definetly be returning

Excellent small chinese restaurant very close to Pontypridd. On arriving th staff were very friendly and helpful without being pushy. We asked for a set meal but wanted with additions of th main menu. They were very helpful and offered some excellent advice an suggestions.The location I next to a pub in a residential area .It would be easy to drive past without noticing .limited parking is available next to th restaurant by plenty at th road side. Inside th restaurant I small but not cramped an ha a friendly atmosphere the food tasted very fresh and on a pa with many much more expensive venues. We will definitely return.

Really tasty food from a small local restaurant/pub near me which I've ordered from a few times now. Generous portions and the crispy chilli beef is heaven. My only point would be that an online menu or Facebook page with a menu would be good for those not in the know about this lovely place. Genuinely the best Chinese takeaway in Pontypridd

East to find is on the right hand side front on of the Royal Oak pub sort of attached but not part of the pub itself.The night we went the weather was horrendous it was pouring down we managed to park right across the road the restaurant was small but cosy I think it will seat 35-40 customers groung floor level so ideal for those with walking difficulties. We arrived around 6.45pm so we were'nt surprised to be the only 2 in the restaurant which was good really as we were both starving, we were served straight away the food arrived piping hot and really good quality a rather different choice on the menu from most chinese restaurants which mean't a good choice of dishes. While we ate the phone never stopped ringing for takeaways which in my eyes is a good sign means food is constantly good and popular. The service was excellent and the meal was really good will return with friends would recommend and have done.A real new years treat from my other half love him.
