Royal Montrose in Angus

Went here for Sunday lunch and can honestly say was worst ever. The chicken was rubbery, the vegetables were all obviously frozen, gravy was like jelly , the roast potatoes and parsnips a poor effort - nothing like real thing. It was all tasteless & bland. Very disappointing and complete waste of money. Will definitely not be back nor will we recommend.

We came for dinner. There was hand sanitiser at the door but not inside. We were met by a lady without a mask although she did keep about a metre away from us. She took our order without a mask but at a distance. However when she served us she came very close -without a mask. The kitchen staff were not wearing masks either. There was one arrow taped to the floor. I said that I was worried by their not wearing masks and was told they didn’t need to in the kitchen. We weren’t asked for contact details. They didn’t have a contactless card machine. We only had one course and got out.

Nous sommes arrivés à 19h passé. Nous avons pu mangé. Merci au cuisinier. Repas très bon et pas cher. Les desserts sont pas mal non plus 🙂. Personnel aimable et service rapide.

I visited recently and had a ok meal which was cheap and cheerful. The decor could do with a bit of an upgrade. It is an old golf club, but that doesn’t mean that they have to live up to that. Typical “pub” type grub, which was served quickly. The staff were friendly and pleasant. Sadly, we had a few visitors at our table. At first, we thought it was a spider that we saw running across our table, but on closer inspection, it was in fact an ant! There were quite a few running around our table, and it put me off to be honest. I don’t think I will be rushing back either.

5th oldest club in the world with the 9th oldest course now named the 1562 course A very friendly club that has ambassadors to welcome you and help make your visit even more enjoyable. Peter Willie catering is wonderful value and just what you need after a round at Montrose.bar staff are also very friendly and a credit to this club.

We came here for a Christmas lunch and we were very pleased with not only the menu which gave us a great selection to choose from, but also the service and the quality of the food. Excellent value for money.

Very good home made soup with hot bread. Cheese and ham sandwich with salad and crisps good portions and very good standard of food. Enjoyed our visit and will go back if in Montrose again.

We popped in for a quick lunch and had a very tasty panini. It was not only very good value but as good a panini as I have had. I had not intended to have anything else but could not resist the pumpkin pie which was absolutely superb.

I always like to be honest we had a very enjoyable lunch at Royal with incredibly friendly staff and members. Chef served and cooked for us lovely lunch including homemade complimentary biscuits. We would recommend this place.

The Royal Montrose golf club is a great place for bacon rolls before a round of golf as well as providing excellent lunches and evening meals. If you just want a light bite they also do lovely scones with good coffee. Well worth a visit if you are in town for golf or even if you want a different place to eat.

I hadn't much of an appetite when I visited here which I explained to the staff. I asked if I could get a child's portion of the mac 'n' cheese which they provided. Delicious. Finished it all.

The Royal Montrose golf club serves excellent meals for lunch or in the evening or you can go in for just coffee and a cake. There is a good variety on the menu and everything is reasonably priced. You do not need to a member to go in and visitors are always welcome.

A must visit again and again great food must go too, "great food lovely all day restaurant very good value"............🏌🍻🍾🍷😎.

A truly traditional links club with a friendly welcome and great views. The catering is simple but excellent

Excellent view and golfing memorabilia gives pleasant atmosphere. Good choice of interesting dishes. Bar stocks real ale (sometimes).

En un viento, lluvia, 18 hoyos acortaría a 12, el bar del club era un ambiente cálido y acogedor refugio. Todo recién cocinado, deliciosa comida y hogareño. El personal más maravilloso nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. Y el golf, excelentes conexiones con muchas dificultades para mí, así que no te pierdas bajando por un poco el medio mi compañero!

El club de golf es muy amable, el bar personal de primera clase, y el nuevo chef ha introducido tiene una amplia variedad de comida que satisface a todos los visitantes y locales por igual. Las cenas y Carver son especialmente bien tanto con respecto a los gustos así como muy buena relación calidad-precio.
