There are Times when COOKING is a Labour at home : Even for the most Keen. The 'Royal Chef' is One of Our Go To's, as Many Times : We have Been. IT is Even More Convenient , when Delivered to the Door. Of Late; as we've Got Older, we tend to use 'Takeaway', much More. The Food is Delivered quickly : Well within an Hour. Occasionally the Beef is Tough & Difficult to Devour. HOWEVER: TASTY & Indeed, prepared, somewhat To Our Taste. The Sauce was Once to Sweet & Mild for Me ; So: Chef kindly added more Chilli & less Sugar in the Paste!

Sad to say. It definitely gone downhill from what it was. Avoid the aromatic duck. A tray of fat and little meat again. Was the best in the area at one point. Sad to say 🥲

Have been looking for a good Chinese takeaway and thought I had found it. Friday was our second meal from here and within hours I had severe sickness and diarrhoea all weekend. I won’t be eating from them again.

If you look at my other reviews I continually bemoan the fact that I cannot find a decent chinese restaurant for love or money. So we stopped trying. Until my neighbour recommended Royal Chef. Honestly, the best Chinese I've had up in this part of the country. The hot and sour soup was the best I've ever had. I had crispy prawns with chilli and sesame oil. Out of this world. My husband loved his two curry dishes, not watery like some of the ones he's ordered. I am baffled why this is not more popular. Makes no sense. It did take a long time to get through on the phone, which is a measure of just how good it is. Honestly will not go anywhere else now.

Great place, on a visit to see friends we elected for a meal from Royal Chef, and we were not disappointed. The salt and chilli ribs excelled, and all other dishes were sublime..... 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Good food and reasonable price but be aware that they are a bit behind the times as its cash only salt and chilli chips a bit sparse with the chilli

Picked up our order which was available to collect within 20 minutes of ordering, spent £30 and it fed 3 adults and 2 kids, and still loads left over which I put in fridge and had another day for my dinner!! It’s probably the only place we use with it been local, and every time I’m there I can see how popular the place is, will use again for sure 👍🏻

Unfortunately our food was awful, full of msg, tasted very unnatural and not at all fresh. The texture of chicken was horrible - tasted boiled and ‘squidgy’ like elastic, the egg fried rice was NOT fried. Worst Chinese take-away food that I have ever experienced. The only thing that was edible was the prawn crackers, the rest went in the bin. It will be a while I think before I order from a Chinese take-away again, I feel completely put off. On the plus side - The person behind the counter was friendly.

We order a Chinese takeaway every Saturday night. Years ago royal chef was our favourite and we we used it regularly. This was until I got really bad sickness and diarhoea from it so we stopped using it. We decided to try it again after a few years to see if it had changed. Last night again I was up all night very sick. However my family ate it and they weren't ill so it's not food poinsoning. The only thing I can think is that they use alot of MSG and flavour enhancers and I am sensitive to it. Won't be eating from here again unfortunately.

Best thing you can do is try it. All the meals I have tried are delicious and far better than comparable meals in other takeaways in the area. Be warned they are closed Mondays.

Absolutely disgusting manners from a manager. I have a allergy to mushrooms, ordered the chicken curry that came with mushrooms, this wasn’t stated on the menu , I rang to ask them to change it and basically got told it’s my problem not theirs. Manger’s attitude was disrespectful disgusting and he wasn’t prepared to replace the order! I’d steer clear of this place. Maybe the manager should go and do some courses to learn how to be an actual professional person and look after he’s customers in the correct way! Our first time and last time ordering. Would avoid at all costs.

Just been to lutus Express for Chinese takeaway and I got salt and pepper chicken with no peppers and it was very tasty my son had the old favourite of chicken fried rice and curry sauce and he made sort work of his food . I don't often get Chinese food, so this did make a pleasant change. Top tip: If you don't like peas in your rice, let them know beforehand .

We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant as we've heard such good things, and we were left incredibly disappointed, and hungry. We booked a table for 7pm with the expectation of being done by around 8:30 ready for a performance at the forum theatre at 9. We noticed that larger tables who had been seated after us were having their food orders taken before us, when our order was finally taken around 7:30, we were assured it was being placed to the front. We had ordered a set meal for 2, and the starter (basic, takeaway style chicken and sweetcorn soup) did not arrive until 8:10, we mentioned to the server that we were anxious of the time, and she assured us they were working as quickly as they could, and mentioned that there were other tables also heading to the same show. When the time got close to 8:30 we decided, reluctantly, to pay for what we had received, and left. Other tables in the same position were doing the same. The server was apologetic, and really I felt sorry for her, it obviously wasn't her fault. I'm disappointed to say the least, especially when walk-in orders for takeaway were being taken and passed out within half an hour. We definitely won't be returning.

Such a fall from grace. Was once a great Chinese, but has taken a nosedive in quality. The chilli and honey chicken I ordered was incredibly watery. Would slosh and run off the plate. Literally red water with some spice and not the thick sticky studd you would exoect. Barely any chicken - rammed full of veg and fruit to fill the watery container. Suspect the rice was microwaved. It was dry, thin ling grain and like sand - not fluffy and sticky like you'd expect if it was made in a rice cooker. I'm not sure if new owners, chefs, or cost of living hit them so hard they have to use the lowest quality ingredients now. Sort it our great wall. You're just "wall" now.
