Very nice local Italian restaurant with friendly staff. The pate and the veal in a mushroom sauce are great.

Went here for lunch today, and found it delightful. Lovely decor, excellent service and great range of food options. We had the mixed bruchetta to start, which was delicious. We then had the risotto and spaghetti from the lunchtime menu, which was excellent value at £11 with a drink (soft, beer or wine). Our only suggestion for improvement would be that the lunch time 2 course special for £14 had a starter option (rather than just main and desert). However, it was still all good value for money. We look forward to our next visit - particularly as it's accessible to our mobility impaired friend.

We enjoyed an 18th family Birthday party last night. There were 10 of us and our Birthday girl loved it. 🫶 I could not believe how inexpensive the bill was! Less than £350 including tip. We had 2 courses each, wine and 4 cocktails. Great value. 🎉 👏👏

Visited with friends on Friday night. I had avocado, tomatoes and mozzarella to start although I would have preferred slices of mozzarella rather than balls. That was followed by chicken escalope with spaghetti and extra chilli. No room for desert

Celebrating my birthday with 10 of my girlfriends and I had to write a review as the food was excellent. Everyone of us enjoyed so much, and the service and atmosphere was 10/10. Would recommend and will certainly be returning.

They seemed surprised when we arrived for our booking. Great for a Sunday afternoon. Service is fab. The rat pack crooner was an unexpected bonus too.

The food was absolutely worth the wait. We enjoyed every mouthful of every dish, their home made chips are to die for with a piping hot lasagna that was perfectly cooked and tasty and a refreshing salad packed with flavour. Try it’s a must have!!

Having eaten in Rosso many times and the food be fabulous this was very disappointing. The meat in our veal Milanese was stone cold, the quality of the seafood used in the pasta wasn’t very good. Was a disappointing meal.

A cosy Italian tucked round the corner. We stepped in and were treated to a lively buzz if conversation. We waited about 30 seconds for waitress to seat us and provide menus. This was the standard menu and a small but delightful specials. Within a few minutes we were asked if we wanted drinks whilst considering the menu and these also arrived quickly. I can't comment on the main menu as we were both enticed by the specials and had a prawn sharing platter to start followed by a seafood linguine. Yhe prawns were large, sift and succulent. Half in a thin filo pastry cooked just right and the other half I a light delicate crispy tempura batter tempting another bite with each crunch. The linguine arrived after a nice interval. Black pepper and parmesan were then offered. The linguine was beautifully cooked with a nice bite but not raw. The cooking juices/sauces mixed with the cheese to provide an exquisite texture of creamy luxury and shellfish flavour to create a wholesome and complete dish. The bowls were scraped clean

Went for a my birthday celebration. Didn’t allow the cake, timed seating, very rushed. The food was above average but then we all had reactions the next morning. More importantly the service especially from the lady who owns the restaurant was very rude. She’s not warm or welcoming at all, she didn’t really help with menu and literally just wanted to take our full order and put it all through so we could leave. It certainly didn’t feel relaxed at all, wish I never booked this restaurant!!

Beautiful meal with friends. I had the seafood pasta with prawns and clams. My friends had the Chicken Kiev which was also delicious. We also had the banoffee pie & eton mess both were amazing. We will be back for sure!!

Can get a little squashed and you wonder if its worth the loo visit trying to get through the sea of chairs, but the food is good. Prices are reasonable. Visit for birthday and service was very rude. Slow service and then pushed to leave very quickly although we asked if we had time for dessert, they said yes, we were given 10 mins and bill handed as i ate. Told them it was my birthday and waiter shrugged his shoulder. They DO NOT like large bookings beyond 4, don't say that at booking then made us feel unwelcome with our prearranged 12 person booking. Big shame. But will not bother again.

Very enjoyable lunch with friends today. We had different main courses from the Express lunch menu. All piping hot and tasty. The tiramasu and bread and butter pudding desserts were excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. With the price including a drink, the lunch menu represents exceptional value for money. We'll be back!

Wonderful place, I ate at the terrace and it was lovely and cosy. The food was amazing and the service was great ! Food came quickly and everyone was so friendly and welcoming when you get to the door! Me and my friend shared the starter of the bruschetta, and had spaghetti meatballs and carbonara. Then we had the tiramisu and it was splendid! I would definitely go again !

Visited with friends again. I had mushrooms to start with. I then had the chicken escalope with penne and extra chilli. The escalope was huge. I could only eat half and I had the other half the next day. I then had chocolate fondant

I went to Rosso for lunch on 27 June 2024 with a group of 17. I ordered Pasta Arrabiata and a friend ordered Spaghetti with meatballs. Whilst eating we both noticed strips of metal in the food. The waitress was informed and provided replacement dishes and charged us for the meals. It spoilt the experience as we had to constantly check the new dishes for metal. Beware the pasta dishes here.

Service good staff pleasant. Food- I had the archetypal Italian dish spaghetti bolognese and was most disappointed. I have to say my wife makes a much better one

Great selection of meals and it felt like delicious meals cooked by my mum. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of champagne too. Friendly staff. It's definitely a place to visit at least once more!

Came for lunch, had spaghetti carbonara and it’s fantastic. Their shepherds pie and fish cake looks good too!

I don’t even know where to start. To get to the point straight away. This restaurant was appalling in every way. The old blonde person who “greets” you on entering is cold and insincere. I wouldn’t have minded her rude demeanour if the food was enjoyable. We have never been before and stumbled across it on the way through Woodford. The people who gave this place anything over 2 stars have no understanding of quality food or produce. Its very clear they cut costs on everything. The pizza was disgusting with chewy cheese. Calamari frozen rubbish. “Homemade” Lasagna was literally cheese and grease. Steak was chewy and had some odd smell. The “parmesan” cheese was probably some fake dust they get from Costco in bulk. The people who think this food is delicious must have no cooking skills beyond a cheese sandwich. Im actually cross with myself for thinking this would have been ok. Cheap food, dirty dated premises and cheap management. I am happy to pay for quality food any time. But Mcdonalds deserved a Michelin star compared to this restaurant.

As we live nearby, we frequently use this friendly restaurant. Also had our Ruby Wedding lunch there 5 years ago. Great atmosphere.

Don’t try pizza. Toppings are 2 days old, dough very cheap. If you ask for a coke, they will serve in a glass, and taste like is from an opened bottle from the day before.

Only recently discovered this place and it's a fabulous Italian restaurant.

Really lovely food, reasonable price. I had spaghetti carbonara and it had a delicious Smokey undertone and lovely bacon bits. The chicken Caesar salad is also a must try!

I'm normally reluctant to go out on Mother's day. Restaurants have minimal staff and cram themselves to the rafters with no concept of customer service. This was wonderfully different. The food was really good, it was served in a timely fashion by incredibly hard earning yet cheery staff. I had Arancini followed by Spaghetti and meatballs. Portions were fine and I thoroughly enjoyed. This was the general consensus of all of us. Must mention the chicken escalope which my wife had with Penne. Massive and so tasty (it was too much for her dso I helped out). Portion of Lassgne was more than ample and by all accounts had a great flavour. Would certainly return in a heart beat.

Not sure why people would pay for a combination of average food (at best) served with an abysmal attitude by distasteful and obnoxious owners. Especially when nearby there are better Italian restaurants with better tasting food and owners who actually have an understanding of the concept of customer service...eg Belsit (Woodford Green), Nino's (S. Woodford), Piccolo (Wanstead).....and more. Vote with your feet people - let these fools realise the error of their ways the hard way, and hopefully once they're forced to sell up we can get some better mannered people in their place.

Went with a group of friends but was a bit apprehensive after reading recent reviews. However, we all enjoyed our meal; the food was tasty, hot and good value. Service was friendly and patient when we needed more time to choose as we'd spent time catching up rather than deciding what to eat. Try it for yourself and see. It's great to have this local restaurant and I will be visiting again soon. (P.S. I highly recommend the lasagne.)

We were there all 6 of us . It was a birthday celebration.The older man is always quite miserable 😣 I don't know if he is the owner. We ordered drinks , and garlic bread then we waited a whole hour before are main meals arrived. I have to say my duck was good . The meatballs were tasteless and the spaghetti was watery.My wife had that. The pizza the birthday boy had was mediocre and no taste to it ie bland. Nobody has the courtesy of coming to the table to ask is everything alright. It's a take or leave attitude. Takes your money take your choice. Not impressed with slow, service, no attention and like the rest of this country all about the money. Sad really .

I recently went with a large group of friends for my birthday. The restaurant coped extremely well where others fail for a large amount of people. No body had any complaint and most of my guests mentioned on how good the food was. The Service was excellent, Great atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was with every one within good timings where other restaurants take ages to serve. Pricing is good to taking into account the quality of the food. My Overall opinion is "exceptional" and I would thoroughly recommend Rosso Restaurant.

Utterly appalling. I called to order pizza, he asked if I wanted anything else and when I asked for recommendations, the person said menus on the website. I said what would you suggest goes with the pizza and he rudely replied I do not have time, it’s a Saturday night. It’s not even 7pm yet. Funny thing is I’ve been told the owner is rude and that’s it’s not even good authentic Italian but Italian catered to the English taste buds. I think I’ve dodged a bullet here. I’ll be going to the Wonderful Storia again. which I wrote an amazing review for.

Service could do with a service!!! Don’t like the owner guy at all …we had asked for some adjustments to a couple of the dishes and he came to us at the end of the meal and sarcastically said would we like to re write the menu! A few days ago some other members of our family went and were told they could order dessert as long as the order was in by 11pm, but then a few mins to 11pm they were told that this was not possible as the kitchen had closed. They were then effectively chucked out at 11 15pm. Lovely relaxing Friday night meal that was! Won’t be recommending or returning.

Go at dinner time. The pizza is great with a great cheese pull, and make sure to reserve because it gets busy super quickly. They also split the pizza for me and my brother.

Excellent Christmas day lunch. The steak is the best i have had in years.

2nd time I’ve been here. We had the second sitting. Mistake ! Everything was, I believe, microwaved. The best thing was the starter. Everything else was awful and I eat anything. Veg much too hard. Funny tasting gravy. The turkey was like a Bernard Matthews rolled up joint, gristly and fatty. What happened to the red cabbage. Inedible. Even the bread and butter pudding was awful. So very expensive for what we actually had.

We have been here a few times, and the service and the food have always been very good. Today, we celebrated our daughters birthday. The staff here are friendly and made our experience really enjoyable. When it came to dessert, the staff bought out my daughters dessert with a candle and the whole restaurant sang her Happy Birthday. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Rosso's for making her day.

Love this place. Amazing atmosphere and amazing food! Would definitely recommend.

The food was wonderful and the service was great. The restaurant closes at 3pm after the lunch sitting which is fine, but we were with 4 over 80YOs and Told to wait by the door as the restaurant was closing, it was 3.15pm so we were only 15 mins over time. It wouldn’t have been a problem if we were with people who where fit but obviously it was slightly awkward for 4 80* YOs to stand by the door while we pulled the car outside to get them all in. We were out of the restaurant by 3.20pm, I think the owner should have a rethink about getting elderly people to wait by the door while there transport arrives. it’s Christmas week I have worked in hospitality over this period and sometimes you may have to work 15mins over when restaurant shuts. I think it’s good to let the staff rest in between shifts but you really need to be careful when dealing with elderly people.

What a rude aggressive guy the manager is at this restaurant and the Christmas dinner was diabolical tasted like meals on wheels, potatoes that came out of a frozen packet. The only nice thing about the restaurant was the fairy lights.

I was parked behind this persons shop & it’s a double yellow public street ,a lady who said she was the owner came up to me & said whole road belongs to her & I must move , I had my son with me & she was very rude and intimidating. I explained to her that the road doesn’t belong to her . She had her car parked at the space and could come out perfectly fine but she decided to have a go at us for no reason what so ever not a kind of place I would want to go for dinner . I parked there particularly to use libraries internet so I can work & my son to go for his classes. Rude owners She loudly said she was the owner

Tasty and well priced lunch menu

I have had many Birthday’s here (My 30th//40th) Rosso is consistently good. The food is excellent. The daily special Starter/Main/Dessert insures a variety 0f dishes to try. The staff are a dream team and I look forward to visiting for Dinner. Every Sunday I have a Takeaway with a bottle of Magners Cider so I have tried out the Pizza 🍕 and most other dishes on the Menu. The home made Desserts I Love especially Banoffee Pie/Bread and Butter Pudding. My mother and her friends where the Golden Girls visiting every week on a Wednesday. Same time/table/people. I can’t fault this wonderful Restaurant. Well done and ThankYou.

Every Sunday I enjoy a Rosso’s Takeaway/Magners Cider. Most of my Birthday’s I have dined here for many years. I’ve Tried all the Pizzas/Spaghetti Bolognaise/Meatballs. My Favourite is Chicken Kiev/Homemade Lasagna. Homemade Desserts&daily specials are excellent The staff are friendly/efficient. I can’t fault any aspect of this Restaurant and the outside patio is Lovely in the Summer. Well done and Thank you.

Fig starter was lovely. As was Eton Mess, which I only ordered because I was still hungry, having left most of my main ofthe meatballs with spaghetti in tomato sauce. So dry. Mentioned it to waitress, who wasn't interested. Hope I don't get invited to eat there again.

The tall blond waitress/owner needs customer service training! Not sure why she was so abrupt when the two of us said we wanted to share a starter, and a pizza! She told us the policy is for everyone to order a main without even a smile on her face. That attitude put me off. We ordered the calamari which was overcooked and rubbery. The pizza was just basic with loads of cheese. Edible but not anything I'd rush back for. Really disappointed with this place. They clearly have misleading reviews.

My favorite Resturant, all the food is delicious, the best prawn cocktail ever. The owners and all the staff are so welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much for them. I would definitely recommend Rosso!

Fabulous food, the terrace is also a nice touch. The menu has something for everyone, very authentic Italian cuisine with a twist of English! 100% recommended

I visited with my family a few weeks ago. The food was absolutely delicious! cannot fault at all. Super tasty, hot and well worth it for the money, however I am reluctant to return as the owner is very condescending and frankly quite rude, he made a comment to me which I don't believe should of been said to a dining customer. It wasn't inappropriate it just wasn't necessary.

Owner very argumentative and incredibly rude, waited over an hour for our main courses when those around us (who came in after us) had eaten 3 courses before we were given our main! Food was mediocre definitely over rated, won’t be going back

Visited today for lunch for the first time having had recommendations from many different people. My wife and I really enjoyed the experience. The food is very tasty and the portions were very generous. Will definitely visit again in the near future.

Having been there a few times before but never again arrived at 7.50 for 8pm reservation 4 people. More customers arriving after us for four as well. They have a seating plan don't see the purpose TBH people behind us were being let in. At 8.06 we said something about our wait they said you have a choice take your table when available or didn't actually say leave but that's what was meant. So we walked out. I know it was very busy but if you book a time it i think should be first come first serve when tables become available, anyway went to the Chinese White Swan over the road that was quieter and not as busy and got served served straight away.

We always enjoy an evening at Rosso. It has the feel of a family run restaurant......maybe it is. The food is good, the service is good, the price is reasonable, so no wonder its often busy

We wanted a local independent restaurant for a special family occasion, and chose Rosso having been here before. However, whilst the staff members were friendly and the food was okay, the owners were very rude and unwelcoming. This unfortunately put a horrible dampener on our evening and we won't be returning. The staff even apologised to us on our way out, which says it all really!

I gave Rosso’s 5 stars 2 years ago, and did the 150 miles back for another family meeting. Again everything was fine. I enjoyed veal in a cream and mushroom sauce. Then the large homemade Tiramisu. Delicious. Everyone chose different dishes, and they were all enjoyed. Incidentally very drinkable red wine. Just for once, I managed to catch a chef so I could tell him how much it was all appreciated. Here's to a repeat in another 2 years.

Came here today with hubby as we live local. It was so nice to relax and chill out. The staff here are friendly and attentive. We both had a starter and mains and they were delicious. They had a special lunch time menu and also specials as in starters. Will definitely come back again.

Been there many times but this time has made me realise I shall never go there again. Unfriendly greeting with bad comments by the owners wife. Told we could have ice if we paid for bottled water not tap water which one person wanted. My starter of fried Brie tasted stale and awful. I was asked by the waitress why I left it. I explained and she said she would tell chef. It was not taken off the bill. Main slag Bol was average. .

Knew it was a mistake as soon as we were greeted by the hostess. She was rude and abrupt when we asked for a table away from the door. Asking for tap water and some ice, we were told by her that we would be charged for the ice unless we purchased a bottle of water. How disgraceful! Which other restaurant do you know where you would be charged for ice

Not only was the welcome cool and most underwhelming but it makes you wonder just what a so-called restaurateur is thinking of when the following takes place: A party of 4 ladies, 3 order drinks and 1 tap water with ice but ice comes at a premium with tap water?? Food less than average, ambiance cool in temperature. Service 3rd rate. Won’t be going back in a hurry. Pretty sad experience overall.

We visited Rosso on Mothers Day this year and as always the food, service and ambience were top notch. Even though there was a set menu, there was a huge choice of all courses. The food was delicious, (as always) served in a timely manner and very generous sized portions. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The older blonde hair lady and the man with the glasses who purport to be the owners are disgraceful and borderline racist. We entered with our friends and rather than being welcomed were told the policy of ordering a dish per person. This is fine but the way the lady directed us was rude and disrespectful. We ordered immediately. My wife, who has a condition due to an irregularity had a bite of crisps she was carrying after ordering due to her low blood sugar levels. The blonde lady came over and started shouting at us that it was rude to eat outside food in a restaurant. We tried to explain to no avail. Instead the lady tried to suggest that we were rude and would not have a conversation like a sensible human being. When I asked if I could speak to the manager, she said she was the owner and wanted us to leave. My wife was so upset and insisted to speak to someone in charge as she could not believe this lady was so inept at understanding basic diabetes needs. The blonde lady and her colleague (a man with glasses) then proceeded to trying to manhandle my wife and get her to leave. I had to ask them to politely stop from physically harming my wife otherwise I would call the police. We were in complete shock after leaving as we have lived in the area since 1994. It was our first time going to Rosso and will certainly be our last. Whether racism or otherwise we don't understand the disgusting behaviour by the alleged "owners". AVOID if you aren't white and a local friend of the Essex owner. Disgusting and disgraceful!

Buzzy atmosphere, full but prompt service

Overall a very nice meal, we will be back for another visit for sure. I’ve walked past here a thousand times and it’s always busy , a sign of a good restaurant. The restaurant was again very busy ( Wednesday evening) service was very good (10% service charge added to the bill) . There were four of us in my group and we all enjoyed our meals, I particularly enjoyed my prawn linguine pil pil, nicely cooked pasta with the right amount of chilli and garlic , absolutely delicious!

Great family run traditional Italian restaurant. OMG the size of the veal escalope! And it tasted good too! Great value & made a big fuss of my friend on his birthday. Will definitely go again.
