Rosso Mazara in Surrey Heath

Our friends had booked this place 3 weeks before our visit as they had gone there quite a few times, well on arrival we were concerned, went to the bar to check in only to be ignored! We looked at each other with concern, then eventually they abruptly asked if we had a reservation which we confirmed, we were then lead to to forgotten table which was in a little area next to the toilet, front door, constantly ringing takeaway phone, which was never answered and not even in the main restaurant! More looks of concern and a common of “we are going to be forgotten here” well how true that was, after 10 to 15mins waiting for a menu or drinks to be ordered eventually a server came complaining how busy they were and asked if we had been given menus, no came the answer and off she went, when she came back with the menu she the disappeared saying she would be back to take drinks order, why she couldn’t take them then I don’t know, 10-15 mins later she came back to take our drinks order, we were also ready to order our food but she just ignored us and off she went, eventually got our drinks and managed to order food, all the while trying to have a conversation with the front door banging shut the constant stream of people using the toilet and the hand drier going off and that damn takeaway phone! After a long wait we eventually got our food, nothing to write home about, my penne chicken in spinach was bland with chicken that was cooked fresh in little strips, my wife only got two little pieces of chicken in her pasta! Eventually they came back to clear the plates that had been on the table for some time and asked if we want the dessert menu, after sitting an age we gave up the will to live and getting any dessert so decided to pay and leave! Oh and the latte with no coffee taste tipped it off lol, won’t be coming back poor food , extremely poor service and a wasted night.

Lovely family run Italian restaurant in Chobham. Excellent pizzas, pastas, fish and meat dishes too. House red wine we had was super! I find it more reasonable here to take the whole family plus we use for takeaways too. Good find.

We have been here once before and thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance. I could have chosen from any number of dishes on the menu, we all ordered something different and were all raving about our food. I had the calf's liver, which was tender, well cooked and loads of it, my wife had a pizza which looked fab. It is unpretentious family style Italian food, for any occasion. We will be back

We visited Rosso Mazara for the first time and were all very impressed. Lovely setting, very clean, attentive service and fantastic food all at a reasonable price. We shall most certainly return again.

Friendly service and lovely food in a traditional family run Italian. Good value we thought. Pizzas, pasta meat and fish all lovely, popular so best to call and book. Also do good takeaway.

We visited this restaurant wondering if the name Mazara was a reflection on where the owners were from! ( plus good reviews) They are indeed from Mazara del Vollo in Sicily where we are in the process of buying a property. They are lovely lovely people. Great chefs too, very authentic Sicilian flavors and they serve the fantastic shrimp from Mazara. The chef even made us a Sicilian delicacy Panelle. I had the tonno ( tuna steak) special it was delicious. Very reasonably priced too. It’s def our new fav when we are in blighty

I’ve been very reticent reviewing Rosso. We have been here many times, and if you are looking for Italian in a characterful location, choose Rosso with confidence. Excellent value, tasty food, and efficient service. We visited last summer on an unusually slow night and they offered a scallop pasta based on what they had for specials etc. It was superb. Genuinely, absolutely superb. And I eat a lot of pasta… This is a great place. Chobham is lucky to have it. We were there a week ago and it was extremely good. Keep it up.

Our first visit. Lovely setting, friendly staff, service was polite and efficient. The food was outstanding. We were recommended by a friend and will definitely go back and recommend to all. Great night. Can’t fault the food, fresh home made and delicious.

This restaurant was very busy and quite crowded on arrival on Saturday night. Our table was situated between two noisy parties so we waited a further20 minutes to be moved to a quieter position. My best friend and I were meeting up after a long time and we had a lot to talk about! Our starters were very nice. I chose an aubergine dish which came piping hot, and my friend chose the tricolore. However the evening was spoiled by one of the main courses of calves liver being served completely cold, and my sea bass mains was served just luke warm. The liver was sent back and microwaved for 5 minutes with the excuse that the kitchens that night had been chaotic and they had forgotten to heat the food! The mixed vegetables for two were quite frankly bland and minimal, and comprised warm soggy roast potatoes, roast carrots and just one sprig of boiled broccoli. I would expect more from a restaurant which professes to serve quality Italian fare. At £60 per head for two courses and no offer of a price reduction for the cold food, I find it unacceptable under any circumstances and is a reflection that the maître d’ really doesn’t know how to treat discerning customers. Fortunately the Sicilian Gallo wine was very pleasant but the whole evening was spoiled by the main course being less than satisfactory. Would I return? Definitely not ..until they have sorted out their chaotic kitchens and stop serving unheated prepared food.

Nice Italian had a lovely evening good service very nice food. First time there definitely will be back I had a lovely t_bone steak slightly over how I ordered it but nice tuna dish very nice wine good over all well worth a visit. Rustic.

We waited 1 hour for the starters to arrive, I think they forgot about us but, but after that the food was served quickly. It was worth it despite the wait, amazing food and pleasent staff. Will definitely return.

Took some overseas visitors who love Itlian food and they were not disappointed. Went on a Thursday night, when they have live music, which was most enjoyable. Room was a little cold though especially as we were by the window.

Early evening dinner on a Sunday - Had to be early as they are VERY popular! You must book to be sure of a table. Lovely food, great service and very reasonable prices, especially for Surrey.

I visited with three of my trusted associates, who regularly dine together as part of a informal dinner club. Safe to say we were suprised when we entered the restaurant to find only one other table taken but as we were all ravenous the thought of quick service, beer and food certainly seemed a good thing. Post ordering a round of Italy’s finest alcoholic nectar (otherwise known as Birra Moretti) we set upon starters and opted for 3 portions of the arancini and one bruchessta with goats cheese. All were of good quality and portions that outweighed the price, the meal was off to a good start! We followed this up with an array of mains varying from Italian classics of lasagne, gnocchi and carbonara to a chicken breast wrapped in Parma ham. These were accompanied by some sides of veg and the Anglo Italian staple of cheesy garlic bread. All of wish was served hot and equally full of flavour including the lasagne that was so hot it may have been mistaken for Mount Vesuvius had we been in a prior century! Although this was certainly not a bad thing. Finally we decided to conclude the meal with a generous portion of homemade tiramisu which was clearly fresh, full of creamy and coffee goodness. Certainly one we will add to our return list just a shame more locals seem not to have given it a go!

First time discovery of this local Italian that was a real treat. Nice atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was varied and very tasty. My wife had mussels to start and they were delicious followed by a pizza that was a “real pizza”. Excellent and she had to take half home as the portion was very generous. I am the pain as I am Gluten Free, but they had lots of options and they were very tasty. Bruschetta Rustica to start was great followed by delicious spaghetti and sausage and finishing with a chocolate cake and coffee. Everything was really nice and we live close by so cannot believe we had never been. Such a refreshing change from chain gastro pubs and the like. Definitely one to add to our favourites list. Great value also.
