Rossini in Wokingham

This reminded us of mid 80s Italian upon entrance waiting to see the red check serviettes , however that’s not important . The food , one excellent main , one ok and one poor , if the menu says Fileto I expect fillet not sirloin particular given fillet price, correctly cooked but wrong cut , sauce was a let down . Starters average but nothing wrong with them . Desert was good . For the money , it’s become difficult to judge , certainly poor on the meat but overheads are of course now horrendous , if I went again the set menu has value the A la Carte not so , if the standard was much higher then it would be fine .

Rossinis is an old school Italian restaurant that has warm friendly staff but the food is just not up to scratch and too expensive for what you get . Michelin star prices for school dinner food.

First visit earlier this evening and was over the moon with the quality of food served. Service was with a smile too! We’ll certainly be back

Possibly the worst meal I've had in a restaurant. Had chicken in what was effectively in a jarred chicken tonight sauce. Served with aunt bessie like roast potatoes and thawed out frozen veg. Really unappetising. Decor is extremely dated. As another reviewer mentioned - how has this place got any positive reviews?

Just enjoyed a very tasty lunch at Rossini restaurant. Food and service both very good. Heartily recommended.

Fairly average food for a much higher than average price. Seafood dish had bits of shell in it. Decor a bit dated.

We were disappointed. We visited for a second time as the first time the carbonara was as good we had in Rome. Sadly this has changed. Not now made with guanciale despite it being stated on the menu. Apparently this is just how it is now. The food is rather overpriced for the quality and presentation. The dish stated as being in lobster bisque sauce tasted predominantly of tomatoes. It’s a real shame because the staff are lovely and we really want to love this restaurant but unfortunately we will be looking elsewhere in the future.

We had high expectations for our first visit to this little Italian in Wokingham. Unfortunately, we felt disappointed all round. Notably, I was served mouldy avocado for my starter (Avocado Tricolore). I was surprised this was served given it was visibly brown. I even mentioned it to the waitor and this was not apologised for or reflected in the bill. Service was slow and we continually had to ask to be served. Main meals were just average. Overall, it was very over-priced for the quality of food and service. Such a shame as we were hoping to be regulars!

I absolutely love it here. It’s not cheap, but the food is what you pay for. Traditional Amalfi coast food. It is a place for special occasions and I recommend coming here if you are a couple or are going with friends.

Food was top notch! The portions are more than adequate. We decided on no starter as you were given olives and some bruschetta to munch on while you wait. After perusing the extensive menu we decided on: Amazing Saltimbocca alla Romana served with a selection of vegetables for me, whilst the other half had Veal alla Milanese with spaghetti. Superb. Then came dessert - so many to choose from but we plumped for Lemoncello profiterole and chocolate cake. Yummy! An old favourite revisited and they did not disappoint.

Popped in early on a Friday evening. The restaurant was not busy and the service was prompt enough, the problem was the quality of the food, look this is not a cheap restaurant, £29 for a fillet steak and then you also need to order sides....... but if that was a £29 fillet steak........ my advice would be to find another butcher !!!!!!

We visited rossini for a meal for 2 we had garlic bread as starters and for main course we had beef and chicken the presentation on the plate was not brilliant didn't really enjoy our food the establishment was not that busy so it wasn't like everyone was rushed off their feet , we had desert and that was warm from where the sweet trolley had been left out so we decided not to eat it. All deserts should be stored in a fridge unfortunately for us on this occasion was not a good experience as we have visited several times before over the years ,this restaurant has lost it's touch compared to when it first opened in the 90s its not the same .

Had the 2 course lunch £14.50 with a 125ml glass of wine included. We had prawn cocktail and minestrone soup, followed by sea bass and chicken in creamy mushroom sauce. Really tasty, piping hot with fresh vegetables. Excellent service.

Our favourite restaurant when I am staying in Wokingham. The food is always perfectly cooked. The staff are wonderful. The only problem was that we found it impossible to get through to book a table because the phone was continually engaged.

Firstly the menu - we got given an A3 paper menu with their tiny fancy scrolling font which is illegible! Not just myself, others in restaurant were struggling to read and we resorted to looking at the menu on our phones, We were told this is a COVID paper menu but there is no reason to make it so hard to read. We were seated so close to the next table that every single word they said could be heard clearly so we ended up talking to each other! Not very COVID safe and not great for a romantic meal! As for my food, my asparagus starter was drowned in a beige creamy sauce and was bland and tasteless. My main course was calves liver in sage and I was given paper thin slices of liver which were dry and sitting next to a huge 80's style salad which was a bizarre mixture in itself but the salad was undressed and consisted of boring bland lettuce with a shaving of carrot! The whole restaurant seemed very dated along with their menu and food and extremely overpriced. I wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.

My husband had booked for 14 people for a special birthday surprise for me as I had been to Rossinis before and loved every minute I was there. Before the food was delicious the sweet cart was very exciting to choose from and the service was first class. NOT THIS TIME we were all squashed into a dark hot corner the staff couldn’t be bothered with us and to get a drink was nearly impossible. I’ve tried to contact the Restaurant but they can’t even be bothered to acknowledge my e mail. This says it all about Rossinis. I really didn’t want to write a bad review but they have given me no choice.Please if you want a special restaurant and to be served with a smile DONT GO TO ROSSINIS

Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the warm, excellent service. Some of the meals were excellent, the others were good. Food was all well presented. Wine was Italian of course. Only one disappointment, the bill was not itemised sufficiently.

What a nice dinner. This small restaurant with great service. My server brought me a bread basket, bowl of olives and Bruschetta on crusty bread. For my starter I ordered the Avocado Tricolore and my main was Linguini alla Rossini consisting of pasta, red provincial sauce with lobster, scampi and prawns. The dish was as good as I have had both in Italy and New York City. Recommended for your enjoyment!

First time here, as a group of five. Lovely atmosphere, staff friendly, food really good. We had pasta with prawns, chicken in white wine sauce and a couple of steaks. All enjoyed the meal.

Amazing customer service, fantastic proper Italian food. I hope people continue to eat here to support the local independent business instead of the big food chains. I have even asked in the past for Italian cakes to be made for dinner parties which are always amazing and so accommodating. I won’t go anywhere else!

After living in Wokingham my whole life I'd somehow failed to eat here! After ny first visit it is now a firm favourite. The food was delicious, staff were friendly, helpful and especially generous with dessert! I can't wait to go back!

Staying in Wokingham on business, and decided to come here on my last night, I was not disappointed. I only opted for a main meal and a glass of wine, the appetizer offered were a choice of rustic breads with olives, and garlic olive oil & tomatoes on bruschetta, yum yum!! The main course was very flavoursome and overall the price very good value for money. I would recommend to anyone who loves authentic Italian food in an intimate setting

I recently visited Rossini with a group of friends to celebrate two birthdays in the group. The birthday girls always get to decide where we go to celebrate, something we do for each of our birthdays. Invariably each of us chooses Rossini for their lovely food and the friendliness of all the staff.

A very authentic Italian restaurant, The food is pretty average and the price is not too bad. The staff are quite blunt and not very communicative. I wouldn’t say rude but not very welcoming.

This restaurant is a step back in time to classic old Italian restaurants, just like you would experience in Italy itself. Food is very good and they have a wonderful desert trolley that distracts you in a good way, as you can't wait to have something from it. I find myself watching it and hoping my favourite doesn't run out before I'm done with my main course.

Always a warm welcome with a very pleasant but often busy atmosphere. Service was excellent and the food choice including vegetarian was impressive. The house wine was very good and a reasonable price All in all a good venue and to be recommended I think

From the kitsch interior with its tiled roofs with stuffed bird perched on top, to the massive menu, heavy cream sauces, fried dishes, formally-dressed waiters and (elsewhere long-gone) dessert trolley, Rossini really does seem like a step three decades back in time.

This restaurant has been around for years but has gone down hill. The menu is massive and as a result the quality is poor. It seems to be busy though but we were less than impressed. The food was bland and the quality of meet poor. In fact we had issues with each main course. It was a real shame as we were looking forward to our visit but we won't be returning. There are far better Italian restaurants around.

We visited Rossini’s on a Friday evening with a group of friends. It’s a busy place so we were pleased we had booked. There was a good atmosphere and the choice of food was extensive including a separate menu for vegetarians along with other dietary requirements.

Simply faultless. We had the breaded mozorella and Prawns in garlic butter to start, two pasta dishes (one with salmon and one with pumpkin... Yes, PUMPKIN) and three generous he longs from the dessert trolley including the lightest meringue ever created and the most amazing amaretto cake.

Came here on a Tuesday evening with my business partner and was blown away by the service and hospitality. Food was amazing for the price. Would defiently recommend.

Visited Rossini’s for dinner tonight. The menu is comprehensive and the service excellent. The food we ordered was first class and tasted fresh and was well seasoned. The decor makes you feel as if you are on holiday and the atmosphere is homely and inviting

We have lived in Wokingham for 3years and only just discovered this hidden gem. It was a lovely intimate experience. The service was excellent and the food was delicious, big portions, you won’t come out hungry. There was so much mains I had to take a doggy bag and it tasted just as delicious for lunch the next day! It’s great to go to an independent and support the local businesses.

I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant. The staff are friendly and the food is amazing. The atmosphere and decor makes you feel like you are on holiday. We go here regularly and have never been disappointed. They do the best Carbonara ever. The dessert trolley is amazing too. This restaurant has been around for over 20 years and has managed to maintain its high standards throughout. Just to note you need to book in advance.

We went here on a Monday to celebrate our anniversary. I don't normally like the idea of paying restaurant money for Italian food, especially for pasta, as a similar result can be produced at home with a bit of effort. We made an exception in this case as my wife is a huge fan of Italian cuisine, and because it's a local family-run restaurant, a dying breed in some areas of the country taken over by chains. I love to be proved wrong about my doubts, and in this case they were crushed by a deliciously authentic trattoria style meal. For starters we shared the pumpkin and sausage pasta, hand-rolled pasta, Italian cured sausage in a creamy egg yolk based sauce similar to authentic carbonara (no dairy). The steak I had was one of the best I've had, the succulent thick cut of meat was cooked to perfection. Lovely wine and mushroom sauce, and came with vegetable and potato side dishes. I asked for the larger steak and wasn't disappointed. I've been to some places in London which are more expensive, with bigger reputations and haven't received food as good. My wife had the veal with a creamy sauce, once again this was excellent. Finally we shared a Pavlova for dessert, thick cream, light but chewy meringue, flavoured with a hint of spice and citrus. We go to Italy regularly so it was nice to get reminded of the food that we've experienced whilst we are there. The same focus on ingredients, simplicity and Italian pride seems to be present in this place in Wokingham so it's definitely worth a visit at some point even if you have to pay a little more for it.

Great food and service. We had an evening out with friends, so did not hold back on food and drink. All of the dishes were excellent, especially the chicken dishes. The staff are friendly and happy to help with choices. The prices are reasonable and we will b3 going back

We turned up at Rossini at about 9 pm just looking for a cold Peroni and a plate of pasta. They were busy but gave us a table. We went straight to mains as it was quite late, but the waiter came and gave us some small starters on the house (bruschetta, olives and a deep fried dough that I've not had before). The food was all excellent and we had great service even on a very busy evening. I would definitely go back. Oh and they label vegan items on the menu.

A return visit to Rossini and it was as good as the first time. Lovely greeting from the staff with attentive service throughout the meal, food was as good as ever, tasty and very good portion size.

Rossini is a popular restaurant in Wokingham and certainly fantastic unless you have an allergy. I’m a Coeliac, and yes they have an ‘Allergen’ menu...it tells you everything you can’t have and not what you can and found this frustrating and complicated. The food ordered was lovely but I think very over priced. The puddings.....oranges for a Coeliac!! I just felt they really couldn’t be bothered to help and more interested in the regular customers. Shame. Very very slow service too.I appreciate catering for allergens must be a nightmare, but..... sorry, I won’t be back again.

If you are looking for traditional authentic Italian cooking, this is the place to go. We have been regulars since we lived in Wokingham many moons ago and still visit regularly.

The food here and the atmosphere is really nice, a hidden gem in Wokingham. The staff are really nice and attentive, will definitely be coming back.

There were 6 of us dining at Rossini's last weekend, and the food was just delicious. We had beef carpaccio starter, fried calamari and prawns, and for mains, spaghetti bolognese which my 11 year old said was the best she ever had, lobster, Linguini alla Rossini with loads of scampi, prawns and lobster. Our eldest daughter had the lobster, and opted for garlic butter rather than thermidor, it was very good. My husband had the tuna steak which was a little too well done, but still very tasty. My niece had the pollo parmagiana which was exceptionally good.

I cannot praise this beautiful little Italian restaurant enough, first time visitors and We will definitely be back. They fitted us in at short notice. Antonio and his staff are amazing, the attention to detail and customer interaction is fantastic and the food was probably the best italian I have ever tasted. It was well seasoned, fresh, beautifully presented and the most amazing menu ever (its huge, gluten free, veggie, allergies etc, every dish is labelled with symbols to suit. I had sea bass for my main and lemon profiteroles for dessert OMG fantastico!! Antonios lemon Marmalade is to die for. Thanks so much you guys are wonderful. Visited Rossini’s tonight with a couple of friends after phoning with 15 minutes notice. We were warmly welcomed and sat down, the service was excellent, the menu choice was huge plus a separate vegetarian & gluten free menu. The food was fresh and delicious, the sweet trolley is sumptuous and the final bill was a pleasant surprise. If you’ve not visited you need to, you can be assured a very pleasant evening of authentic Italian cuisine

Visiting family in the area we took a group of none to Rossini for dinner on recommendation. To be honest, i had expected another OK but nothing special pasta and pizza houses but instead found a really splendid Italian restaurant with a wide variety of traditional dishes all excellently prepared. The staff were very good - not in your face but always available if wanted. At around 50 pounds a head I thought this excellent value and would recommend it to anyone.

This is a very generous traditional Italian restaurant. The food is great and the personal is lovely. We always have a great time in family going there. I strongly recommend this restaurant!

This was my second visit, this time in a family group of four. Two of us ordered off the lunchtime set menu (very good value at 12.50 for starter, main and a glass of wine) and two of us ordered from the main menu. The food came quickly and at the same time and everyone enjoyed their meals. The food was well cooked with fresh ingredients and nicely presented. The portions were fine, not too little and not too much.

Been wanting to visit Rossini for some time. We booked a table and visited on Saturday Evening. We arrived on time and waited for our table to be cleared even though there were several already set and vacant.

Wow I’ve not eaten here for a very long time - perhaps 15 years ago and had forgotten how wonderful the food is.

We were looking for somewhere to meet up with friends half way between where we both live and found this restaurant online. Car parking was easy with the large car park behind the restaurant. The service was very good and the food was excellent at this very traditional Italian. A couple of us had seafood dishes which were loaded up with prawns and shell fish and so tasty. We will definitely return.

I’ve eaten at rossini’s twice and each time was a pleasure. Authentic cuisine and a great range from pasta to more specialty dishes. I would thoroughly recommend for special occasions as it beats the chains hands down

My favourite Italian in Wokingham, lovely food, friendly staff and comfortable setting. Restaurant is small and welcoming and the desserts trolley is amazing. Only downside is you are limited to times of bookings on weekends and if you have an early table you have to give it back after a couple of hours.

Just spent lovely few hours in this great traditional Italian . Large party ordering all manner of different dishes . We served very quickly even with such a busy service as it was Mother's Day . Thank to Tony and great team for great food and service what a treat .

The table was much too small for 5 people. Service was much too slow. My meal was luke warm, very average. The vegetables were almost thrown onto my plate by the waiter as he couldn't reach my plate due to such lack of space. I ordered a Espresso Martini it was awful, presented in the wrong glass and didn't taste like it should. The staff were pleasant, however they were so busy fussing over regular clients that new people such as our table were pretty much ignored. We will not be returning, our money will be spent in a much better restaurant next time. VERY SAD as this was meant to be special meal. VERY LET DOWN.

Went to Rossini’s this evening for a catch up with friends. It started out really well. One of the waiters was very attentive and made sure we had drinks, asked our names and had some banter with us. The whole menu has changed and despite a note in the back of the menu to say you can still order food from the old menu- you can’t. When we asked about the old menu and said we used to love the Gnocci, the waiters didn’t seem too happy with the changes that have obviously been made there.
