Coppa Club in Wokingham

Have to say our group were quite disappointed! The food was ok, but nothing special! Service was slow even though there seemed to be plenty of staff around. At no point during the meal did anyone ask if everything was ok! Have to say we expected better than we got and probably won't go back. Bit of a shame as it was ideally situated for our group where half of us were from Henley and the rest from Woodley.

Perfect stopover if walking the trail from Reading to Sonning. Welcoming to muddy boots and 4-legged pets :) Lots of seating including outdoor pods which looked really inviting. The menu offers something for all and everyone on our table was thoroughly satisfied with the food. Staff are friendly and have a smile at all times. Tastefully decorated with a great ambience. Would be lovely in summer..

Really great food, and lovley location. This place also caters really well for vegetarians. It was a bit too loud. I was in a larger group of 6, and we struggled to hear each other talk. After the meal, we moved to the lounge area for coffee, which was much quieter than the restaurant and allowed for conversation.

We stayed at The Great House hotel which is on the same site as the Coppa Club Restaurant and bar. It's very handy for the Mill Theatre just over the river Thames bridge. There are comfy seats and tables around the bar and the restaurant over looks the river. There is an inside part and a section outside which is heated and under cover in winter or open in summer. They also still have dome pods which they installed for COVID restrictions. We had a group breakfast after staying there for a theatre evening. The food was very good and £15 with the room rate. The waitress was a bit unsure what we could have from the menu with the room voucher but it was sorted out and was very good although the promised pastries didn't appear before the cooked breakfast! They also have gluten free and vegan options.

Excellent venue and great food. It was a shame that the girl welcoming us was uninterested, didn't smile, and completely refused to engage in any communication. Thanks to the girls who served us though, they were great, as was the girl who came outside in the cold to take a picture for us as we left. It was a special occasion and they saved it.

I don't particularly like the Coppa Club menu. I chose the trout and enjoyed it. The other 3 in the party thought the food was "ok". We thought it expensive for what we had and it was cold and the chips only warm.

Great spot with friendly and helpful staff. All the food was spot on. Plant based burger was really good! Would recommend.

Really enjoyed our lunch here. The winter terrace was great, nice and warm and bright with a view down to the river and the food was good.

I am beyond grateful to Sheila at Coppa Club for making my friends proposal truly magical. From the very first moment I met her, her warmth, kindness, and attention to detail made all the difference. Sheila went out of her way to ensure everything was perfectly arranged, offering thoughtful suggestions and personal touches that made the day even more special. Her genuine care and dedication to creating unforgettable experiences shone through in every way. She turned what could have been a stressful task into a seamless, joyful process, and I can’t thank her enough for her support. Thanks to Sheila, this moment will forever be etched in my heart. Food is excellent, but prices are quite steep. I got a small carbonara for around 9 pounds which was incredible quality, but pretty small. 9 pounds is certainly pushing. The pizza is perhaps priced a bit more fairly, and is tasty but nothing incredible. Coffee is quite nice, and pancakes are ok. Prices are steep for most things but ingredients are good quality, and location and building is lovely. Service is also great and staff were very friendly.

We went as a family for a drink at the end of the day. Very welcoming atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Stayed in the hotel for a couple of days. Have one evening meal, and a lunch. Both times the service was very friendly and food arrived quickly and was all very good. We did dine at quieter times of day. Obviously a bit short staffed, or not being managed well. After lunch we had coffee and were surrounded by uncleared tables (7 that I could see) which no cleared in the hour or more we sat there. Slightly spoils the atmosphere of an otherwise lovely setting.

When eventually the breakfast order was taken, everything turned up at the same time so cereal, pastries and cooked breakfast!

We went to Coppa Sonning for Xmas eve dinner with Family (we were 9). The setting was lovely and there was a very pleasant atmosphere. Drinks orders were taken quickly but took a while to materialise. Meanwhile we emptied the one bottle of water on the table and had to ask 3 times for some replacements. The food arrived and we noticed the seafood linguines (all three) were cold. The kitchen also seemed to have some difficulty cooking steaks to requested levels. So for the Sirloin the options available were ‘pink or not pink’ and the results were disappointing for those who ordered. I had the Coppa burger, which was very good tbf.

We dindinned in an igloo in the dark so little point being in one. The pizza and steak were fabulous the burgers were over cooked and dry

Stayed over a couple nights for a wedding. Loved it. Very beautiful place. Friendly staff and well furnished rooms. Super King Bed!! (Palace yard).

Only gavev me a tall glass for Guinness. Otherwise will be 5 star

The food was good, service wasn't great. Took ages for drinks to be served at the bar, and dining took a while for drinks orders and empty glasses to be cleared.

The food was great for my Xmas dinner with my university friends. However, we felt lack of service from a waitress compared to surrounding tables maybe because of our age which was not taken lightly. We received attitude from the waitress, had to ask for drinks and ordering food. We felt like the waitress did not want to be serving us which made the experience less enjoyable. But the food balanced the experience of the poor service.

Beautiful ambience, food is really good. Have visited this lovely place multiple times. Always love to go back.

Nice gastro pub. We visited in the November end plenty of indoor space and real fire. Pint about £6, limited range of bitters, 2 IPA personally prefer a wider range. Great service with some smiles

Warm and welcoming for coffee and croissants

Unfortunately this visit was marred by poor service. The food was excellent, but the restaurant was grossly understaffed and the poor waiting-staff were run off their feet keeping up. They were not to blame and were trying their best under difficult circumstances but were overwhelmed. When coming to a supposed upscale establishment, the service needs to be better than this. In fairness, previous visit did not suffer from this issue

Hit with a £100 parking fine as it’s not clear you need to register your vehicle to be able to park in the car park. Food and service average. Definitely gone downhill as a place.

We had a great time at Coppa Club, our second visit to use the "Igloos" after their introduction during COVID. Our visit was very pleasant, the food and staff were fantastic. The only thing that let us down was the igloo itself, it's looking old and tired and could do with a refresh. There were cracks in the plastic and gaps in some of the panels, and not being able to connect to the speaker via Bluetooth was a let down. Overall a good experience and we'll be back as soon as the Igloos have a refresh.

BEWARE THE CAR PARK! If you do not enter your reg number as you walk in Euro Car Parks will fine you £60. I will definitely not be returning.

Great atmosphere but the cocktails need some more work.

Absolutely awful…Myself and my partner both ordered the steak and when it arrived it was inedible due to the amount of fat in the steak…it was a struggle to cut with a steak knife never mind chew…..the waitress tried to tell me this was normal for this cut of steak. We then asked for them to be replaced…which they did with cheaper cuts…which were barely any better. We spoke to the waitress who said and I quote… “Well….I would never have recommended the steak”…and…” Its midweek, so the Chefs on duty are not so good” She also said that if we wanted nice steak, we should go to a proper Steak house! Could have been a scene from Fawlty Towers….and the Waiting staff could do with a course in customer service…… Also…as a token of “goodwill”…they said we wouldn’t have to pay for the original steaks we sent back! Far better food, better service and at a fraction of the cost at the local “Hungry Horse” a mile away. Avoid…

Watch out for the new stealth parking charges and sarcastic staff reaction to it... 'didn't you read the signs on the way in?!'

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the pod. It was a lovely private space for a family get together. Warm blankets are provided for everyone, a hot heater could be put on and the door can be slid shut. In spite of the hailstones remaining on the ground, we were all cosy. We had 3 courses and the 2 hour slot was just about enough.

Good friendly service. Quality ingredients in the breakfast. The table was not cleaned properly, it wasn't very busy and the table had been prepared when we arrived but there were blobs on ketchup on the table breakfast was served on a skillet but was only warm at best. Tea should be served in a pot not a tea bag in a mug of water

Very noisy on a Saturday lunchtime Our table was close to glass with another couple the other side which was odd and I was uncomfortable with it. Both tables touched the glass!! Loads of children, some running around Lovely food but I wouldn't go in daytime again and I wouldn't sit in same place.

Visited for an evening wedding reception. The car park is to small for the venue many people struggling to find a space.

On arrival met by lovely girl, very wecoming, seated us at our table. I guess she then went off duty as we were ignored for over half an hour. Eventually caught the eye of I guess a manager who wasn't very impressive. Food was as expected ( we have eaten here many times previously). Staff completely let you down on this occasion.

Super atmosphere & large enough to accommodate you if they are busy,service was good as with a fantastic location. Only thing was the parking if it is a busy day like a wkd or bank Holiday then parking can be frustrating as slightly not big enough for weekends but understand that during the week it would be much better.

Missing items off the menu when we had dinner on the 11th July. Could do with a queue for booked tables and those just turning up. We had to wait in the car park for 15 minutes before we were seated for our booking.

Stopped on a Saturday evening for dinner with a friend when passing by. Outside looked pretty, but these tables were all reserved. The atmosphere inside was really cosy. The fresh ginger juice was great, and enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. Service was wonderful thanks to Holly who was really kind, helpful and made everything very easy. Would go back.

😡Matt King On the 27/August 2024 my dad ordered glass pod for my brother’s birthday we all had a starter then they brought out the main course but they had not cleared away our starter plates you would clear away the starter plates before serving the main course my brother had the steak he said it was fatty not good. He asked for a knife and knife was blunt could not cut through the steak the lady replaced the knife that knife was blunt as well not good I a all our chips were cold not good. They did replace the chips but they were a little bit warmer I had the fish and chips dry not very good and the cod Not big and chunky. It was like having something from a supermarket that’s not good when I asked do we have mushy peas She said yes no it was not mushy peas. They were dried peas that’s not good. Would I recommend this place for fish and chips? No that’s not good with my brother. Recommend this place for steak. No that’s not good. My dad said would like to speak to the manager. the waitress went and got the manager manager just wanted to speak over the top of us and not listen to what we were saying he could’ve spoken after we had finished remember the customer comes first the waitress listen to what we had to say she should be made manager not the manager because he didn’t want to listen. He likes being a manager because he gets paid a lot of money but he doesn’t like doing his job and that is listening to his customers would I recommend this restaurant this restaurant no if I wanted poor quality food I would go to a cheaper restaurant. I came here because this restaurant is meant to be good that’s why you pay more money. I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. I get better service at a Wetherspoons the manager, listens before speaking and does not walk away. 😡 when restaurant only gets 4.2 then you know there is something wrong with that restaurant.

We had a good experience as we only stopped for a quick drink mid afternoon. Many people have poorer experiences.

A beautiful riverside pub Nice food excellent location Fantastic to visit if you enjoy a riverside walk 🚶‍♀️ dog friendly garden pods. It is recommended to book, but walk-ins accepted if the space is accepted. A modern lay out, comfy sofa if you just want to lounge. A very pretty garden backing onto the river near Thames Street. A pretty and quaint area. Excellent access for paddle boarding too

PLEASE DON'T GO HERE!!!! I just stopped to pick up my Daughter who was a resident and got a £60 parking fine!!No clear signing, I never got out of my car. No ability to complain to the parking company and the Hotel just ignored my emails and would not deal with my calls. Disgusting!!!! I didn't feel ignored, you simply did ignore my email from 29th July until I posted this public review, which you obviously haven't read as I clearly stated that I never got out of my car so wouldn't have been aware of your login proceedure. I'm surprised you did respond publicly as I had given you my phone number! As a gesture of goodwill I would have expected you to assist with a refund having made you aware of the circumstances that's all. Your attitude doesn't change my opinion and to quote your email if if have any quiries is laughable as you don't respond to emails!!!

We had an absolute fantastic, delicious meal, even though the service was slow. The staff were very friendly and made my husband birthday by decorating his dessert plate.

Bro when i tell you they don’t serve you they don’t serve you what a joke. you pay above average prices to sit at a table, don’t clear drinks, takes forever. you have to get there attention to notify them. Go to the ivy for a fraction more.

Myself and a friend went to here last night and had an excellent experience in the igloos outside. Sheila was exceptionally great. Sheila was welcoming, fun and attended to all our needs the whole evening. Would highly recommend to eat here.

A beautiful setting by the river, which is pretty unbeatable on a summer evening. Likewise in the winter it has a cosy vibe with stunning walks along the river easily accessible through the garden. Gets busy in the evenings as one would expect but is a great pub, large and suitable for dogs.

Food all over floor. No cutlery. No condiments. Staff act as if we doing them a favour. Coppas don't care as you can see from their pathetic numerous apologies in over reviews Extortionatly priced .4 parties asked for umbrella as so hot .none found. Tables don't have central holes. Don't go here Won't be back Yet again just wanted simple pleasant meal with friend ruined by coppas Henley brach is worse Management please don't bother replying and giving contrived apologies you just make a mockery of hospitality. Those who have given 5 star reviews clearly of no class used to low standard or just plain stupid and uneducated

The Igloos turns into a green house when hot, but they look gorgeous and the whole experience was good. Would definitely recommend.

Sunday anniversary lunch, table reserved. We get to the place to realise its taken over by a big wedding. Every single parking place is taken, and we are not allowed into the overflow park, that's only for the wedding guests. We called restaurant to inform them that we won't be able to come as their is literally no space to park, only to be told to "drive around few more times". We refused, so they cancelled the reservation, and then told us "to do them a favour and check of we could see any free parking places on the street leaving, and give them a call back to tell where they are". Speechless. Not only greedy enough to overbook the place. Not only arrogant enough to suggest we don't understand if parking is full or not. But also next level asking us to be their parking attendants, after having destroyed our anniversary lunch. Its unlikely we will return after this.

Great setting - the main attraction. Many tables outside. Lovely garden. Food is standard pub food, nothing special. Service was OK, some items in our order not provided or forgotten.

Where do I begin- customers have to order their meal through an app via the barcode provided on the table. Needed to order twice because confirmation didn’t go through to the kitchen. Got the drinks order wrong. We waited 40 minutes for a chicken salad and steak with fries. Quality of the food was not good. Very fatty steak and croutons in the salad were old. You shouldn’t have to remind waiters to provide cutlery and napkins. No one came to check on our table at any time. Lastly, I sent an email to them and it went unanswered. Unprofessional and expensive (London prices) for mediocre service.

A Breakfast Fit for Champions! After an invigorating 8km swim in the Thames, I was looking for a hearty and delicious meal to refuel and stumbled upon Cuppa for breakfast. What an incredible find! Their breakfast skillet is a delightful collaboration of culinary delight, presented in a hot skillet for heat retention and total enjoyment. The combination of perfectly cooked tomato, vibrant black pudding, savory mushrooms, and a fresh sausage, all topped with crispy bacon and accompanied by sourdough & butter, was absolutely mouth-watering. The eggs were cooked to perfection and blended seamlessly with the other ingredients. Each bite was a burst of flavor, and the presentation in a hot skillet ensured that every mouthful stayed warm until the last bite. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients was evident, and the portion size was generous, making it a truly satisfying meal. Graduation celebrations excellent food and service

An excellent evening after a bit of a hiccup to start, but certainly made up for it.

Spent a birthday here and also stayed on site in The Coach House apartment. Venue is very picturesque, do allow for slow traffic if coming from the Reading area, and the facilities were very good. The staff were individually all very pleasant and great to deal with. The service leaves a lot to be desired - main courses arrived before starters were finished, long waits to be served and having to chase many things up having been promised them.

The food here is OK, but nothing special, however the service is pretty dire. Insufficient serving or waiting staff in the bar and eating areas and a huge missed opportunity in keeping tables plyed with drinks in the garden. Lovely setting and location let down by poor service, mediocre (overpriced) food.

Food was overpriced and under- seasoned. For £22 for prawn linguine, I expected more. I could have made better myself. The location is lovely and so are the staff, if not a little "green".

Not happy at all. Got a parking ticket in October 23 from Euro car parks as they manage the car park. I was told by Coppa they’d get it removed as a goodwill gesture. I keep getting parking reminder letters despite me sending 3 follow up emails to Coppa Club, but getting no response. Now being hounded for £170! I’m just going to leave a weekly bad review and see if they get ignored! UPDATE: Emails still being ignored and another threatening letter received from Euro Car Parks!

Place is amazing, but the food quality could be better. Especially the salt content. Could not eat it without constantly drinking water! Also very pricey. Please note they charge for the service automatically (12.5%!!).

I met two friends here for dinner on a Sunday evening. I've been quite a few times before - I was surprised that it was really buzzy on the terrace but not that buzzy inside. Our food was nice, but my fish cake was too salty and it always irks me to pay extra for sides. We were chatting quite late and the staff clearly wanted to get rid of us, but nobody actually came to tell us we had to leave - they just used a variety of not-so-subtle tactics like giving us our bill, turning the lights up brighter and shouting 'OK I'M OFF' to each other, so that didn't end the evening on an overly favourable note.

Disappointing. Attended a work event here and we were presented with a buffet of cold beef burgers and cold fries. Worse people had previously asked if they could start eating and take the burgers whilst they were hot but were made to wait until everything was out. Giving the food plenty of time to go cold. Desserts were also served buffet style which is fine, but not enough were available for the whole group, meaning about 30% of the staff went without. As for the venue itself multiple guests were unable to park due to the inadequate parking facilities and despite it being 15° outside and raining, the Aircon was on full blast, with people having to wear coats inside in July to warm up. I've been here before for work meals and it ways always ok, the food is a little underwhelming for the price usually. But today was really poor.
