Best Ondian meal I've had in a long while. Tender meat and although spicy was full of flavour. I would certainly recommend and would definitely return.

We had an awful experience. Waiting staff was very rude and unpleasant. Clearly they didn't know what they were doing. Food was below mediocre. I had to constantly spit out some weird parts of the chicken breast from my korma. When we complained to the manager he was completely disinterested and rude. For a couple in an empty restaurant they tried to charge us 12.5% of service charge and got very frustrated when I asked them to remove it. I am shocked the place like this got any customers at all. And its still in business!

We had a takeaway last night and as visiting Staines from Essex we chose this restaurant purely by Trip advisor. My chicken Sag was the worst I've ever had. My partner said his jalfrezi was "different" to normal. And it was £29 for 2 which I do think is way over the top but we thought it was going to b worth spending because of the reviews.

I have walked out of this restaurant twice now due to the rude and frankly quite horrible staff.I only went back the second time as friends suggested it and location was convenient, wish I had not bothered. The staff are unbelievably rude, I don't think they care about their customers in the slightest. Absolutely rude and unpleasant, my advice would be to avoid at all costs. Trot around the corner to Jimmy Spices, although buffet style the food is good, the staff are friendly and welcoming unlike the unpleasant individuals at Roshni.I have only given it one circle as there isn't the option for giving less!

We choose a different restaurant each month. This month took us to Roshni's. There were 14 of us, we booked so they knew we were coming. Our table was split into two which made access easier but was not set with tablecloths. It was quite dark. The buffet menus which was £20 ahead were on the table. We asked for the normal menu twice before it came. The service was very slow and unfriendly. When the food arrived one table was served a good 5 minutes before the other table. Some were sharing rice and side dishes so got cold. We were a rice short which came half way through dinner after we chased it. Food got mixed reviews some had a really nice meal but others were disappointed. The tikka Masala was a lot spicer than in other restaurants. Other customers were given warm towels afterwards, when asked we were told they didn't have any. They gave us mint chocolates after us asking. When the bill came the service charge was £18! A disappointing evening.

Food was really nice and the service was ok but sadly they spoilt the experience with a mandatory 12.5% service charge. If your food is good enough put your prices up, if your service is good I'd leave a 10% tip as well. There are plenty of restaurants nearby that add no service charge I will be frequenting them in future and they'll get a tip too.

Been here many times, the Food has always been fantastic. It still is !!On a Saturday night I would have expected to have some difficulty getting a table at short notice. I shouldn't have worried - it was empty, only 10 -15 people in a restaurant which could easily hold 100+. That sort of put a dampener on my evening, no atmosphere at all. I've no doubt the local economy is to blame. In spite of this - Service was first class, cleanliness exceptional - but it's the food that makes Roshnis. I can't speak highly enough of its quality. They made every effort to make sure I had a pleasant experience.Well done Roshnis !

Average Indian food accompanied by average decor and music that would make your ear drums bleed. The food will indeed fill an empty stomach but nothing to write home but worth writing about on Tripadvisor! For me, I like to walk away from a restaurant feeling like it was real authentic home cooked food. This food simply lacked the authentic tastebud tantalising spices. The dishes simply did not taste as well as they should. It was sad to see empty tables in such a large restaurant, maybe that was my sign that maybe not all is well.....But...the naan bread was great!

We visited Roshnis with a Groupon coupon. We were immediately made to feel 2nd rate. We were given a menu our order for starter was taken. Then the manager came over and said Groupon with disdain. We said yes and ordered our main courses. He then said you get naan and plain rice. I said I wanted pilau to,which he begrudgingly said ok,we can do that. The small print on our Groupon allowed for pilau rice. He then snatched the menu from us and off he went. The food when it came was ok but I would never have paid the full price. There are far better Indian restaurants nearby. The restaurant is bland to look at and looks more of a cafe. There were groups of men who were very loud and shouting some very coarse language ( nothing was said to them by the staff- it was only 9pm) there was a very large group having a private party on the outskirts of the tables. They were incredibly loud with children running amok. They were all standing and very close to some of the other diners , almost resting on other diners tables.Roshnis is a shambles with mediocre food and a very rude manager. I would never recommend and I will never go back.

The food was just ok , nothing special. If I had to pay full price I really would not have been happy. The service was dreadful , not so much from the normal waiters, but the manager / owner who really does need to learn how to deal with customers politely .He would do well to realise that people on Groupon deals are checking the restaurant out probably for the first time, and may well be returning customers.SAHowever when subjected to such a rude attitude has his I wouldn't return, and I certainly couldn't recommend it.

The meal seemed really good value as they advertise a 50% discount if you book dinner in advance for a Sunday or Monday. This doesn't apply to alcohol, which is understandable, but service was added to the whole bill before any discount was applied. The food was ok, but I would have expected a bit more meat and a little less sauce in my butter chicken and the chicken tikka was dry. The group seated at the table next to us were incredibly noisy, maybe we were just unlucky on the night. The waiter was rather surly and it wasn't a great night out.

Excellent food. Good service. Would recommend their lunchtime buffet.Three course self service Sunday buffet lunch with lots of fresh dishes. Two vegetarians and two children in our party of six and plenty of choice for them. Top marks on presentation and taste of food. The freshly made to order dosas were really good. A very clean, tastefully decorated restaurant. Excellent value, £6.99. Less for children. The restaurant isn't at street level and there are no windows letting in natural light but there is sufficient and good lighting. I do like that they use linen napkins and not paper serviettes. Staff comfortably to hand if needed. They do take away plates quite promptly but no problem having a new plate (which I like to do) if you go back for more. Based Staines side of Staines Bridge Roshni's could be easily missed, luckily there are 2-3 subtle notices advertising it. There is a nearby pay and display car park. There are two entrances to Roshni's - one is at street level so few steps. The other at side of building so more steps. Drinks: they were happy to give our party a jug of iced water. Coke was nice and cold. I would suggest their having white teapots (to match the plates they use) rather than give customers a cup of hot water with a tea bag floating in it. Not nice!

The quality of the food here is very high whether takeaway or eating in, it is reasonably priced for the quality on offer however the issue I have with them is the lack of customer service on offer. Three of us decided to get a curry at 9pm on a Friday night and walked to roshni's, on arrival the chap who greeted us said that we would need to be quick as the kitchen was about to close (fair enough) so we sat down and started looking at the menu, within 30 seconds he came over and asked if we were ready, we said we were still looking but to give us a minute or two and he looked at his watch impatiently then stood there waiting for us, I asked if I could order a bottle of wine and he said no as he needed to get the food orders to the kitchen first...Whilst I understand the kitchen was closing (although 9.00pm does seem a little early bearing in mind they also deliver) the whole experience made us feel like they were doing us a favour by letting us in rather than a meal we were going to be paying for so we walked out and ordered a takeaway from elsewhereMuch as the food at roshni's is good, I would hesitate to go back or recommend based on this experience

We went here after purchasing a deal, the restaurant was down some stairs, and we were greeted by the waiter at the door who showed us to our table, the place was nice and clean, tidy and as you would expect a restaurant to be, we gave him our voucher and ordered the wine that came with it. The house white was actually quite nice, nice taste and cold. We ordered our starter and mains. For starters we had the chicken tikka ceaser salad and onion bahji, and a samosa, all were served quite quick and looked and tasted quite nice, and there was plenty on the plate, for our mains we had Makhani chooze and a tikka masala, with egg rice and a peshwari naan, the dishes looked very nice, but the chicken actually looked like it was processed, square chunks, the rice and naan, were very nice, as was the sauce both the dishes were cooked in, it was the chicken that let the meal down. The staff were all pleasant and attentive and the whole place was nice.

Just neatly tucked-away below the approach to the Staines Bridge on the north side of the Thames in Staines-upon-Thames, one will find the two entrance doors to Indian Restaurant, ROSHNI's.The a la carte menu is not available over a lunchtime session; which is a pity. There is a very reasonably-priced buffet offering which boasts an 'Eat as much as you wish' feature. So, if quantity is your aim, this could be the place for you. The staff are pleasant even if a tad bored. The toilets are clean. If one is seeking to feed a hungry family, then this could be a real solution to one's problem. If one is hungry and arrives early [i.e. while the foodstuff is fresh, hot and appetising] then a satisfactory meal [fuelling?] may be found.Beware the Butter Chicken. I have no idea why this dish is so-called, it bears no relationship to any previously-tasted interpretation. The Roshni version is sickly sweet presented in a creamy mess of over-sugared gruel. For lovers of Indian food, wait until the evening. Or, try elsewhere.

We were recently in both the UK and France travelling and as a result had the opportunity to eat at a variety of restaurants. There are, as happens everywhere, the good, the bad and the ugly. And our restaurant opinions on this trip reflect this very well.We were in Surrey, UK in a town called Egham, and being fond of Indian food, decided to try a restaurant called Roshni’s, which is at 1 Thames Edge Court, Staines, Middlesex, TW18 48U. There were three of us dining and we decided to order dishes which we would share. Well it is often said that first impressions are everything. We arrived and seated ourselves down and looked at the décor. It was very clinical and modern and our first impression was that maybe we had made a poor choice. The proprietor came over to us and started chatting, and he was very friendly and informative. We started to feel at ease. After a brief discussion with the proprietor we decided on three dishes, one a seafood dish and two vegetarian.SAMUNDARI KHAZANA, King scallops, prawns, squid and New Zealand mussels stir fried with onions and pureed Kerala spicesKHILE PHOOL KA KURCHAN, A bouquet of fresh garden vegetables, cooked in a red hot pan with spices, a Punjabi favouriteDHINGRI DOLMA, A colourful combination of mushroom and paneer, cooked with tomatoes and tempered with black cuminAs an accompaniment we had Peshwari Naan and Khuska Rice and some Lentil Dhal on the side.Well, fairly shortly after we ordered, the meal arrived, all dishes arriving at the same time, which is usually a good sign. The food was excellent, the Naan bread was really well made. Both vegetarian dishes were wonderfully flavoured and very generous in their proportions. But there is no doubt, the hero dish was the SAMUNDARI KHAZANA. The seafood was cooked to perfection and this dish was without a doubt the favourite of us all. These dishes complimented each other very well.Including drinks and everything the bill came in at under GBP40.00 which I thought was more than reasonable. And the level of service was exceptional. We had arrived at this restaurant early in the evening, and we were the only patrons there. As we were leaving, another group of people, who we realised were regulars, were coming in the door.So despite being set in a relatively modern and basic setting, the meal was the hero of the encounter. I would go there again as I found the encounter very pleasant and the waiting staff and proprietor were most welcoming.

Four of us visited Roshnis for the first time, after hearing good reviews. It was not what I had hoped it would live up to be, however I wouldn't discourage anyone from going there. Bang average. The selection of dips and salad with the popadums seemed to be very small portions, especially the onion salad, which we ran out of quickly! The lamb dansak I had was lovely, not as hot as many other dansak's I've had, but flavoursome nonetheless. The worst part of the meal was the keema naan, which instead of being stuffed with meat had the mined lamb on top of the bread, like some kind of cheeseless pizza. It wasn't a good way of seeving keema naan at all. Overall, the curry itself was tasty, but a couple of things let the place down.

5 of us went to Roshni's after work, the resturant offers a number of discounts and as a local business we get 25% discount. We ordered a range of starters including soggy onion bhajia and prawn thoran, which was nice. Mains were chicken biriani, kirala fish curry and chicken madras and pilau rice. 2 rounds of beers each. The food was plentiful and tasty. On the down side, although we arrive around 6pm was the complete lack of atmosphere and other customers, 2 to be precise and by the time we left at 7.45 it had doubled to 4. I paid the bill and left the customry tip of 10%. When I arrived home I looked at the bill to see they had added A service charge, 17.5% so beware,if it is mentioned on the menu it must be very small writing and I certainly didn't see it on the website, almost wiping out the corporate discount. Overall the occasion was not great and I have eaten in many better resturants. Also worth noting that the tastecard offer is restricted to the mains, so excludes rices etc.

A friend and I ate here a few nights ago and we were both very disappointed with the quality of the food compared to a few years ago. The curry sauce was really thin and watery and the chicken was rubbery with black bits in it. The service was okay, nothing special. I had a coffee with cream and the cream was off and had to be sent back. I really can't see us going back again!

I have dined at this restaurant since it opened. I loved it at the beginning, the food was more comparable to a restaurant aspiring for a great status, their tastes were amazing, their menu was inspiring and the service was very attentive. Something has changed over the years, and it feels like it should be so much better. It is a great setting and the restaurant is well decorated and laid out - it feels like it should be special.Don't get me wrong it isn't and but when you have had great there before anything less is disappointing. If they want to take a leaf out of the book of another contemporary Indian restaurant that is Trishna's in Blandford Street near Baker Street. Although Trishna's prices are naturally high given its location and their chef had earned a Michelin star elsewhere before, the menu is to die for and it would be great to have that kind of quality in Staines.

I have been coming to this restaurant for a number of years , when it first opened. The food was always good , it was different to your typical Indian.Recently I took a friend there ( First visit since new management takeover) and I must agree with the recent reviews, its gone downhill big time. They are cutting corners with the food and still charging top prices with service charges on top. The food was really awful , no taste. The new management need to review how they are doing things, if not they might as well compete with their neighbours and do all day buffet or try different cuisine or shut up shop.

Love the food here, service is attentive, but not overbearing. My only negative is that the venue is always cold summer & winter, but I can put up with this for the good food.

Half past seven on a Saturday night and Roshni's had no bottles of sparkling water. We stopped going as the last two meals we had were really sub standard, but I had received emails advising me of new managment and chef, thought we would give it another try, big mistake. My worry if they can't afford to buy water what standard is the food going to be. We left before taking a chance and it will be a long time before I bother to go back.

Me and 2 other friends went here for the first time. What can i say about this place. The service from the staff was really poor. They nearly took away all our starters bedore we could finish. Snatched the menu from my friends hands. They didnt once come to see how we was. The coke was 3.50 for a pint witch was warm, wasnt coke , was Pepsi. Tasted like just came from the bottle. The food was very poor, cold if im honest. Overall wasnt happy with the massive service charge.Been to a few Indian restaurant's and never seen a service charge like this.Overall.. STAY AWAY..

Well I think this place must be under new management. My madras tasted of supermarket curry powder, service was lacklustre and it was an expensive meal. 'Once bitten twice shy' as they say...

Have been there many times. Sometimes lunch buffet and many times a la carte. Good Indian food in area. Not much to expect but OK to go sometimes to revive Indian taste buds. It has gone to new management but I haven't seen much difference.

£7 - great selection of food, the lamb curry dish is always spot on. You can make up your own starter, main and desert all for 7 quid. My only gripe would be the ice cream they serve for desert, it's sainsburys back to basics ice cream, only if they paid a couple of quid more and got more of a quality product to go with the quality food they cook.

We booked as it was Christmas Eve, but there were only six other people dining, so it was quiet.I had pre-chosen my food from the website, but the menus in the restaurant showed higher prices and some variations, so I had to think again. The papadums came quickly and were very nice. The starter, prawns with asparagus was quick and also very tasty, as was the Keema Naan. The main course dishes arrived in acceptable time, and were all extremely nice: Chicken Biryani, Lamb Korma and Punjabi Dal. I liked the house red wine, though the serving was larger than I wanted (175ml) - as I specified a small glass I expected 125ml. Could not eat everything, and the excess was packed up nicely to take home. The bill was quite a bit higher than expected, due to the out-of-date web prices and addition of a Service Charge of 12.5%. I am happy to pay 10% when service is good, which it was, but unexpectedly high bills put one off returning to the venue.

A group of us had decided to visit this restaurant last minute. I will say we were seated quite quickly there were 10 of us. We ordered our drinks and some poppadoms. The plain poppadoms were brought out quickly however we had to wait 15 minutes for the spicy ones, we asked twice for an update only to be told they were coming, during this time our drinks were served and the order for the mains were taken. I had asked for a straw, I don't think this is a big request, but had to ask three times for this. The bill was over £200 plus £27 for a service charge. The food was just ok but the service was awful. Would not return again.

My husband and I visited on a Monday evening and there was a 50% off the food offer on which was very good value. Even without an offer I would not hesitate to return to this restaurant. The samosas were to die for and the pastry was short and delicious with a lot of filling. The staff were polite and friendly.

Onion baji and squid starters were tasty as were the papadums with pickle main were a bit bland mixed veg was a bit spicy but otherwise nonedescript . the sting in the tail came when we needed to pay the manager announced the credit card machine was broken and I had to spend 10 minutes walking to the high street and go foraging around staines for a cashpoint as fortunately I had a bank card otherwise we would have been washing the dishes. still had the cheek to add service charge which I declined to pay. Shame really as probably not their fault the machine was broken but could have been handled much better

Had dinner here a few weeks ago with friends and was pleasantly surprised with the food. I had a chilli chicken which was excellent. Just the right level of spice and for me everything was just as I would like it.One of my party though had the Chicken Biriani and was a bit taken aback at how spicy it was. A little too spicy for something that generally is not hot. All in all though, better than some of the reviews that I read before I posted this one and certainly deserving of another visit in the future.

We went for a Saturday lunch on offer at 4.99. It is ok for that price. The lamb rogan josh was tender. Limited dessert items like ice cream ,Indian dessert and melon. More choices a Jimmy's but triple the price. Good service for a basic buffet at that price.

OK food - best was the naan. Garlic chicken was not what I expect on an India menu but it was OK - could have had a bit more spice. One gripe - they state they take AMEX but when I went to pay they told me they do not take AMEX. Thankfully I had another card - but come on guys - if you do not take AMEX remove the sticker on your restaurant door (see photos).

Upon arrival, we were seated straight away. Once we decided on what we were having however, we had to ask if we could order as they didn't seem to come over for a very long time. The chicken korma I had lacked a lot of flavour and the naan bread wasn't as soft and fluffy as I've had elsewhere. We actually asked for the naan to be warmed up as it was cold so the waiter said he'd just put it in the microwave...great. There was no background music on at all which I think would have been nice as all you could here was other table's conversations. With so many other better Indian restaurants in the area, I won't be going back anytime soon.

Popped in here for dinner with some friends. Had the butter chicken that was way over cooked with a heavy sweet sauce. Rice was old and dry. My friend had a lamb dish that was very fatty. And not cheap either.

We were 6 people having a meal at this 'so called' amazing Indian restaurant. I have never felt so insulted by someone I WAS PAYING to serve me. Extremely rude waiters and their attitude is surprisingly inconsiderate! They promote themselves with a 50% off and we still payed a little too much for the meal we had. The food is overpriced and the portions are childlike. If I had to ever recommend a nice place to eat, it surely would not be this! The food is pretentious and the service is horrible. The deserts are bite sized and the prices will burn a hole in your pocket. Not again. EVER.

The staff was extremely rude and snobbish throughout! The portions of food were so small that we had to order for 160 pounds to satisfy a group of 6. Even the 50% discount on the bill didn't help. And note: The discount doesn't apply for desserts-and you won't know it till you get the bill! The service was so poor we ended up sitting there for 2 and a half hours to finish our entire dinner! The highlight though, was when the waiter scowled at us and asked us to look up online banking when we asked if splitting the bill was permitted at the restaurant ! When we told him that he was being rude, he got pissed off, shouted at us and stormed away! The manager then came forward with a surly face, took the money and left without a word! It was a very embarrassing and demeaning experience!Never again!

I ate here with 3 colleagues and we all enjoyed a delicious meal . The menu has so much choice we couldn't decide so had 4 different dishes to share , we also had starters and popadoms , the service was excellent and attention to detail was noted. The food was served onto your plates and this made a nice change . There were plenty of fish and vegetarian choices also on the menu. Drinks were fairly priced also . Would visit again.

Roshni's is brilliant: tucked away by Staines Bridge, the service is always wonderful and the team of friendly waiters serve the best Indian food in the area. Top marks for the kitchen too because the menu is very diverse and the dishes have always been to an exceptional standard. The surroundings are clean and ideal for an authentic Indian cuisine experience. I continue to take my friends to this eatery because the is experience is always guaranteed to exceed expectations. I highly recommend the Sunday Special menu which is excellent value for money.

Staying at T5 for the night, Staines is only a short taxi ride away, and opens up a number of eating options. Roshni's is close to the river, but is a vast restaurant, and had little atmosphere. Food was good on flavour, but the lamb was a bit tough. Friendly staff.

Super service and fantastic food. Methi gosht was my wife's choice and mine the Lamb Bhuna. Lovely flavours. Staff very attentive. It was our wedding anniversary and they surprised us with a scrumptious ice cream dessert. A wonderful touch! Well worth a visit!
