Nice spot for a bit of lunch and a chance to watch some planes and helicopters landing and taking off. The food was ok, decent sized portions but expensive at £35 for 2 baguettes and 2 coffees. However, the coffee was lovely!

I questioned whether our friend who was driving knew where he was going when we entered the airfield through the security barriers. I continued to question him as we drove around the airport perimeter. Fortunately he did know and we soon ended up at the cafe. Plenty of parking, plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, an excellent lunch menu (I'd recommend the sausage, caramelised onion and cheese toastie), great staff and a view of the planes, runway and police helicopter as you eat. Definitely worth searching out and visiting.

Disappointed by the refit of the squadron. It used to have so much character. The Rosey lea cafe part just has zero character now. Foods ok. Strange that they have so few tables When there's lots more space. Had to queue to get a table.

I visited this delightful cafe, situated within the perimeter of North Weald airfield for the first time on Thursday 26 September 2024. It was somewhere convenient to meet up with some old work colleagues for brunch/lunch. What a lovely place! Great atmosphere. Really friendly, professional staff. And wonderful food. We had a mixture of club, bacon and salt beef sandwiches, some with salad, coleslaw and chips, as well as coffee and walnut cake. The tea was served loose leaf in traditional teapots with cups and saucers. We could sit, chat and watch the variety of aircraft manoeuvring outside. The toilets were also particularly modern and clean. All in all a great find and I would definitely recommend. This place deserves to succeed.

We arrived at lunchtime on a Thursday in June 2023. The weather was hot and sunny, but as it was very warm and crowded inside, we decided to sit outside. We managed to get a table with a parasol, so was able to sit in the shade, but there were only 3 parasols between 15 picnic benches!! We really enjoyed our lunch of salt beef sandwiches and the coffee is good. We would definitely visit again.

My visit to the Rosey Lea Cafe was with the sole purpose of observing my son in flight with a Spitfire from their garden, at the North Weald airport. But it turned out into one of the most relaxing and enjoyable days we have had recently. To start with, the whole experience was well organised: the flight, the helicopter, the actual Spitfire were absolutely superb, and the pilots and the staff were supremely helpful and accommodating. The cafe surpassed my expectations also - the food was excellent, the very generous helping were cooked with fresh ingredients, and were well presented, and reasonable in price. The staff was lovely, too, and although the service was a little slow (very busy on Saturday afternoon), it was worth the wait. The premises are in fact a small hangar, very cosy, clean, new, comfortable, relaxed and well spaced. Lovely outdoor sitting area, looking right onto the runway, so all aircraft taking off or landing was easy to observe from any of the picnic tables. A worthy combination of flying, eating and observational experience!

Love this place, great service and great food whilst watching the planes and helicopters take off. It's great for kids who can stand outside feet from taxing planes but safely fenced off. Tables outside and inside. Takes a bit of finding on the airfield as you have to drive right the way round the inside perimeter road. Drive carefully and obey the signs as you are on taxi strips and cross the end of the runway.

Can’t say how disappointed we are to have chosen to come here this Sunday, beautiful location but the fact of the matter is the kitchen is far too small for the amount of tables, so rather than seat you in said beautiful location they make you stand alongside the corrugated metal building unable to watch any of the planes, with the premise of a 10/15min wait! After waiting over half an hour we had to moan at the poor staff sent to do the managers dirty work, Once taken to our table we were advised of a further wait (the wait we apparently were avoiding by standing outside) Had we been told from the off we were looking at an over an hours wait (we arrived at 12:15 and received a drink not food at 13:36) we certainly wouldn’t have stayed, it’s the poor young staff I feel most sorry for. You need a booking system that allows for your in-proportionate kitchen to tables!

Terrible! We’re told to que outside for a table to stop to he kitchen getting backed up with orders, we were told this would be a 10-15 minute wait. Waited for over 25 minutes. Once seated we thought the service would be relatively quick as not many people were actually seated. It took a further 25 minutes for them to take a drinks order. Followed by another 15 minute wait to order food. Drinks then took another 20 minutes to arrive. Overall we waited 1hour 30 to even receive a drink. Such a shame!

A nice experience here slightly let down by the wasps that wanted to invade our lunch. Obviously this is out of the owner's control so I'm not going to penalize based on mother nature. Incredibly boring menu, was seated right next to the bar where I had to suffer the locals loudly and drunkly shouting at each other. Staff were not very welcoming, they forgot to give us a menu. At least 3 meals they didn't have and parking was a nightmare as too small a carpark/people parking where they shouldn't of been (disabled bays, across lines.
