Wasn't terrible but it wasn't the best either specially for £25 a meal

Well below what i would expect. needs a new chef. too much food for one person previous owners were much better so room to improve

Superb dhansak, coriander naan and rice. Great flavours and spice, such a change from our last curries in Berlin.

So, I pop In and ask for the hottest curry you can imagine. I'm seriously talking off the scoville level. Boom. The guys didn't even pause. Back to good. Love ya guys. x

Had a delivery tonight, 22nd March 2024. We've had several meals from this takeaway restaurant, which we would rate as very good. Tonight our meal was superb, the best we have had for a long time Can't fault it. Only gave one star for atmosphere because we ate at home.

Me and my mum order from here regularly and the food is always amazing!

Bring Back Previous Owners Or Original Menu I have used this place over 40 years with previous owners was the BEST curry house in Coventry, but now where do I start first curry ordered with new owners throw it in the bin Madras sauce awful, pataks in a jar tasted better and the chips are awful. The previous owners built up a nice curry house the new owners need to change the name because previous feedback was for original owners. It’s a shame the name and quality food will both go because cheap ingredients, try it at your own risk ⚠️

I have just had a curry from the rose of bengal I had a bit of an issue but the management soon put the problem right the food is ace I can now recommend the food .my issue was resolved in a flash....also my wife said her food was delicious. Will go back no problem....happy customer.....

This place used to be really good Unfortunately that's no longer the case Food was bland and unpalatable, won't be going back in a hurry

Food is mediocre now the owners have changed, food is nothing like it used to be and pretty much on par with every other Indian restaurant in the area (taste the same) it will be missed but it's too far to travel for what you get now. Won't be returning, I would suggest name change when you're changing the menu drastically but it's one person's opinion.

This is an absolute delicacie and would absolutely recommend!! xx absolutely amazing !! Also very good for the family to enjoy a night in x

First time trying, tandoori chicken was tender, flavourful and really tasty, my partner is vegetarian and had the mushroom dishes, equally enjoyable, poppadoms were crispy, condiments were good, will be using again.

Second visit since the new menu. Absolutely delicious food on both occasions. The Korai last time was really lovely and the Chicken Pathia tonight was out of this world. Pathia is my favourite curry and so often it is badly prepared - but tonight's was perfect. A nice heat, sweetness and sourness balanced perfectly and not too overbearing tomatoes. Really lovely. Delicious Bhindi too. Highly recommended.

All the reviews on here are from when the previous owner had the business- he built the takeaway up on reputation , when the food was excellent he didn’t need to use Just Eat or Uber eats because the food was so good, regulars like myself would travel from the other side of the city because it was so good, I’m so disappointed with my meal recently from the new owners. I won’t be using them again. The prices have gone up, portions and standard has gone down.

First time ordering from rose of bengal, and it will not be the last. It came hot, within the time they said. The delivery man was polite. The food was amazing couldn’t ask for a better Friday dinner. Thankyou

My partner and I love this place. Happy to collect our orders but we took advantage of delivery service. We ordered at 6pm and finally got food at 7.40p.. Whoever is delivering the food is totally incompetent. Nan was cold and sweaty no dips for poppadoms, one tiny yogurt dip with the tandoori mixed grill, absolutely flipping rubbish service and cold food.

I just ordered the chicken jalfrezi and the lamb naga with peshwari nan and lemon rice, was absolutely super !! Thank you and portion sizes were amazing 👏 Much better than the last three or four places I have been to in London , will return

Do not order delivery from here. Was supposed to take 1 hour max and chased after 1hr 20 and then again 1hr 40 - order wasn't put in till we first rang and no compensation. Awful customer service. Not worth it.

Chilli powder not madras mate ....very disappointed in my meal ....it's definitely changed hands ...cost if living and I had too throw 20 pound in the bin

The food was utter trash, sorry.... you need to take heed of this.... utter garbage I can't submit the star rating it deserves as the option to give zero stars wasn't available!!! We haven't had a Rose of Bengal curry in quite a while so was unaware they had changed hands. The food, a chicken tikka masala along with a few sides was appalling. It was very very red, very very runny and very very sweet, also with a measly portion of meat. It was just like it was a cheap jar sauce. Not at all like the gorgeous masala we used to get from here. The naan bread was half the size they used to be from here and the guy who served us said "we've given you a free poppadum too". REALLY, we used to get two or 3 of them free anyway and again were much bigger. Stay away people, save you money. Very disappointing!!! We couldn't eat the meal it was that bad.

One of the best places in Coventry for curries. Excellent value and service. Would recommend. That was a few years ago. Now in 2023. They now deliver and the food is just as good. Full of flavour and was delivered quite quickly. The only downside now is due to retirement that the owners have changed, the food is not as creamy as it was. But things change and we'll done to the new management for trying to keep the standard as it was beforehand. 8/10.

I have grown up with the Rose, it is a taste of home and and I wish the owner and his family all the very best, they were so courteous and a part of my childhood. The new curry is very tasty, different but we enjoyed it and the naan was lovely. I will miss the old Rose, as will my mum and family - it is the end of an era. The extras were always welcome, but never expected. Wishing the new owners every success and peace and prosperity to all.

Not the same since new owner took over thought they would have kept same recipes/menu as it’s the brother that’s took over but no. Been going here 20years-never again, chicken in curry is not how it used to be, chips not the same, such a shame 😥

Ordered takeaway, food was nice but I found bits of metal wire in my curry (assumably from a metal wire brush). Bit displeased by this.

Been going here for 30 years and just had one today to find that new people have took over 😩 he told me it was his brothers and his brother has retired although it is the same chef but that is deffo not the same chef, the chips are not chips no more they are skin on fries which you do not have with a curry the chicken is totally different and not chicken like it used to be, you don't get free bombay potatoes anymore like we always have done no matter how much you spend and all the prices have gone up too, we are totally gutted and sorry but we won't be going here again...😞😭😞

This place has been here for years and I’ve often been told they’re good, so finally got the chance to try them when we were in Redford recently. Food was great, plenty of flavours and spices and boxed up nicely to take home in the car. Friendly staff, would definitely come again.

Nice curry. Sometime a bit on the hot side so bear tgat in mind. Shame no delivery

Just had what was supposed to be lamb tikka masala, the lamb was not lamb but what looked like rock hard overcooked burger,usually wonderful but this was vile

We have used this take away for 26 years + and is still the best curry we ever had. Chilli Chicken Masala - madras hot. Absolutely beautiful, proper chicken off the bone, none of the processed muck other establishments use. If I have to find anything wrong, I would say the onion bharji's are to hard and look more like a burger than the soft onion bharji which I prefer. Great Value for money and a friendly family run business who are polite and courteous.

Best curry house in cov. no delivery service however which may be a deal-breaker to some. Not to me though that rose murghee masala is the best fish ever

Been a while since I've come here but it's still one of the best Curry takeaway in Coventry, all the dishes on the menu are cooked fresh and hot and made with fresh vegetables and fresh in daily meat..Quality and not too pricey, I've been using Rose of Bengal for 40 years still the best for us..👍

Like the previous review I have been using The Rose of Bengal for about 35 years and I thought it was time I showed my appreciation by writing a review. It has been one the great constants in my adult life. Always run by the same people and the food always the same great quality. You can’t beat a good curry. I’d like to say thank you!

My new fave!! Beautiful food good value for money! and the chips are home made style chips which were amazing!!! Definitely returning!

Superb food and friendly staff been here for years

Awful. We had 4 items, they all tasted the same and had the texture of brown mush. Chicken was dry and fibrey. Cheese naan was cold with half melted cheese dumped on top. I have never had the misfortune to experience such garbage before. If I could've been bothered I'd have taken it back. Foul.

Friendly staff. Catered for my sons allergies. Very reasonable price's. Great food.

I love the curry from this place, the chicken melts in your mouth and the currys taste delicious. Only thing I don't like is there seems to be a bit too much oil in the curry & the Mango chutney isn't very nice. Other than that it's really nice I don't think you could beat their currys X

Regular visitor to this takeaway. Wouldn’t go anywhere else in Coventry now. Whenever I order from somewhere else I am left disappointed. One down side is that they don’t deliver but worth the trip in my opinion. Just love the food from there to be honest and the staff are lovely.

Ordered delivery and turned up 1 and 1/2hrs late, rang up and basically got given a Xfactor sob story at max volume.

I've eaten from this Restaurant since it first opened in 1980, the fact that it is still running as an Indian Takeaway after all this time speaks for itself, if you have never tried this place then do so because you will return again & again. The extensive menu is cooked always fresh & be prepared to wait if you have not phoned your order. The food is superb,hot & cooked to perfection every time the portion size is very good & the prices so very competitive & Raffi always treats you to extras at no extra cost to you..so go & try the quality of the cooking you won't be disappointed.

This is without the best indian take away bar none. As a curry eater of over 25 years all over the UK I can honestly say this is the best. The only shame is it is not a restaurant also.

This place is great. I have lived in a few different areas of England and I can honestly say the Rose of Bengal is the best Indian takeaway food I have tasted. I always phone up ahead of picking my order up. So it's ready in a couple of minutes when I arrive. To avoid any wait. They only accept cash so make sure you have that ready. There is a cash point across the road and a car park that I use regularly. I love their chicken balti and the Naan bread is great too.

Always excellent food, full of taste and not oil. I have used this takeaway for nearly 20 years and never had a bad meal. The same man has been on the desk and a broad smile always greats you as you enter. They offer a wide range of dishes and sides at normal prices. I no longer live as close and have tried my closer takeaways but still gravitate back to the rose.

He empezado recientemente a un hombre asiático fecha y me ha hecho varios curry's desde cero y he hecho mi propia en varias ocasiones, saben divina y son bastante fácil de hacer. Esta fue la primera compra para llevar curry ya y creo que será la última. No puedo creer la cantidad de aceite que el pollo al curry, que contenía una horrible revestimiento enfermizo en mi boca y sólo pude comer la mitad y después tuve que lavarme los dientes enseguida y también gargle, incluso ahora horas más tarde ¡todavía lo puedo probar... No es bueno!! Para ser justos, no creo que hayan cambiado mi paladar tiene ahora, pero me pregunto por qué es necesario mucho aceite? Entiendo que para ejecutar para llevar y restaurantes algunos pre es necesario preparar y cocinar, especialmente en Curry, etc. pero no tiene que implicar así mucho aceite!?

This is the best Indian takeaway I've ever used. A friend told me about it 30 years ago and I've been going back ever since.

Third visit to the Rose of Bengal. Third time of not being disappointed. The owner is lovely and the food has to be one of the best take aways I have ever had. Each time there has been extras added, either bombay potatoes or poppadoms. No credit cards, no ordering on line and no delivery. Not needed. Apparently some customers come from miles away and have done for years. Definitely a favourite ☺☺☺☺

I have been using the Rose of Bengal since 2002 and have never had a bad experience. Very pleasant people and the curry is fantastic. My favourite is a Chicken Dhansak.

Best consistant curry house I have ever been to. I moved 60miles away over a decade ago and still come back. I'll buy an extra curry or two with naans and take them back home and freeze them after visiting my parents. My partner won't let me leave Coventry before five so I can collect the food before I come back. A hidden treasure. Don't listen to the troll who posted before...

Awful awful chicken and mushroom omelette.over cooked chicken under cooked chips £6 never again.

Second time we've tried a takeaway from here and no complaints either time. Really tasty meals in big portions with extras thrown in as well - all at good prices! Plus, they an cater for food intolerances/allergies too which is a big plus. Have recommended to friends and would use again

I have been to this restaurant before and the guy increased what he expected in payment compared to the printed prices on the menu and served me small portions when I had ordered large. The guy also likes to keep Customers waiting whilst he has all manner of phone calls so, in my opinion, you are less likely to walk out empty handed. I thought i'd give them a second try this afternoon and I simply wished to order a portion of chips - he told me that he would not do me a portion of chips alone. After keeping me waiting 5 minutes, he expected me to order more food that no doubt he would tell me actually costs more than stated on the menu (like last time). The last time I was in he also served me small portions and charged me for large (and then more on top as he told me the Menu prices were wrong). Although I am cheesed off with him, seriously, i'd strongly recommend getting quotes from this restaurant and compare them before ordering as he is stupidly expensive for his total lack of customer service.If he is going to be part of the Radford community he should promote cohesion instead of ripping us off and making fools of us. If he wasn't there, maybe the Radford Chippy would open longer hours and I could actually get my darn portion of chips or maybe if he was more reasonably priced and decent in his customer service offering, such charm alone may have tempted me into giving his curries a second try. Absolute fool with no business sense and sheer greed on the brain. I would definitely ***not*** recommend.

I ordered curry, then rang back to add to the order as i foirgot, but i was met with a torrent of abuse and rudeness and my order cancelled and told never to order again. The manager needs to get a course on customer service, pathetic !!!!

I've been using the Rose for over 20 years, for me it's the best takeaway in Coventry. I drive from the other side of Coventry past many other takeaways to pick up food from here (there's no delivery service) & my daughter drives over from Long Itchington. Staff are always helpful and polite, it's been under the same management for as long as I can remember. Good value for money (one nan bread will easily serve 2 or 3 people). I would recommend the balti chilli masala if you like your curry hot, it has plenty of fresh chilli - beautiful.

I travel over 20 miles round trip to visit this takeaway and have done for years the standard has alway been extremely high and have never let me down highly recommend
