I went into this inviting looking cafe today after lunch, to get an espresso. I was with my mother and two children, ages 7 and 9. There was a small bowl of sample brownies near the cashier where I placed my order. I whispered to them that they could only take one piece each, and an extra piece for their grandmother. They dutifully complie, taking three pieces and giving one to my mother. Almost immediately, the young man at the counter pulled the brownies back abruptly. I asked him why and he said curtly "They aren't supposed to take five each!". I told him that they hadn't, and I had instructed them to only take one brownie each. This cafe looks like it is capitalising on the general trend towards healthful food, cold-pressed juices and organic cuisine but is overpriced for what it offers and feels unwelcoming and unfriendly. Our server did not soften his demeanour and made it clear that we were unwelcome at the cafe. I almost asked for the manager to complain but decided to post in Tripadvisor instead. If the manager reads this, think about having a talk with the young man who was at the cashier around 1pm today. He could have found a different way to communicate was, even if he did think my children had taken a massive amount of brownies. And why put samples out if you use them to communicate to certain customers that they are unwelcome?

Go to the counter for a menu, find a table, then go back to the counter to order and pay- all a bit odd. Food looked appetising but my hungry wife couldn't find anything on the menu that appealed to her- quinoa and lentils not being in her favourite list. Server was chatty and gave us a big grin, but food was average. Think one can do better elsewhere, unless organic is your preference, in which case Roots and Bulbs is for you.

We stopped at this cafe after having visited the Natural History Museum. We ordered 2 Cappuccinos a coconut water and an Americano from the disinterested and miserable girl on the till, who was not even minded to thank us for our custom. The cafe was not busy, however it took around 5 minutes for the Cappuccinos to arrive and a further 5 minutes for the Americano to arrive. The Cappuccinos arrived warm which we decided to put up with, however when the Americano arrived cold as well I decided to make the staff aware of the problem. I started to explain to the chap what my problem was, when he tried to explain that it was due to the milk they put in, I pointed out that one of the coffees was an Americano and he became a little sheepish. He asked us if we would like replacements, and I explained that we had had enough cold coffee but wanted to make them aware. No offer of a refund for the £12.50 was made and we left (the Americano had been sipped once and the Cappuccinos were half full). All in all a very disappointing experience.

Called in just for coffee. Very friendly staff, great atmosphere and more to the point excellent tasty coffee. There are also lots of nice things to eat at a reasonable price. It's a healthy place to eat, but you can be just a little bit naughty. Reasonable prices for the area.

Roots and Bulbs on Exhibition Road in Kensington offers a great lunch menu for fair prices. There is definitely room to visit next time your in London and in this area, perhaps visiting Kensington Palace or the Royal Albert Museum as it is only a 5-10 minute walk away.

We popped into roots and bulbs for breakfast. The decor was very hip and there were lots of healthy things on the menu. It was more expensive than I expected but overall a good experience.

Small selection of hot and cold drinks, cakes and healthy options. I grabbed a latte to takeaway for £2.50 as the small cafe was full. Jugs of water with cucumber, lemon and lime to help yourself too. Efficient service. Latte was pretty average though :(

Different bagels to choose from, I opted for plain. Liked that I was able to customise my order with ease and no faff - I had the Vegan Cream Cheese Stack, but with regular cream cheese, and tomato instead of avocado. The bagel was toasted and the whole thing was fresh & tasty! Would visit again.

Please avoid this it is the worst evening I have had out for a long time. The food was way way way below standard. We paid £35 each for a tiny bottle of what was supposed to be Gin but tasted like dishwater...... We waited over 20 mins for a drink and had to ask 3 times to be served!!! It was not the characters fault they tried there best but way substandard offer to customers. the food was terrible a couple of sandwiches with indistinguishable contents and the cakes were even worse. I am sure they cannot continue to advertise this and get away with charging so much.......

I have tried to book a table here for two weeks now. I have emailed three times and called ten times. Not once have I received anything back. Awful customer service. I had a few questions before I booked, and I was a party of 10. They have lost out on generous tips and money. Will be looking to spend our money elsewhere. If you can't even answer the phone or email god knows how slow, you are as a business when you're in the restaurant. I dread to think.

Heavy on the mozzarella; slow on the service. Bready crust and quite a weak tomato base. Olives a slight cheat but much needed.
