Highly recommend to stay as it's in a great position to explore other areas around Ayrshire. We will definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality.

My 93 year young gran loves to eat out locally and Romeo and Juilet is her most favourite place to go. I'm so sorry I don't know the waitresses name but it's usually the same waitress with the blonde hair that's in shift when we visit is lovely and nothing is too much trouble for her even if she the only one on shift. This restaurant has loads of potential and fabulous food.

Came here a few times now with my family as well as just me and my wife. The atmosphere is cosy and comfortable and a romantic feel (when the kids aren’t there of course) the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious! The menu is massive and definitely has something for everyone even my fussy son who only eats sausages or pizza! The place itself is spotless and the I absolutely love the decor it adds to the cottage cosy warm feeling! Love coming here and we plan on having an overnight stay even though we only live 15 minutes away it’s like a cosy cottage! Definitely worth a visit!

Really good COVID safety and well spaced tables. Good service too but unfortunately food wasn’t great. Probably okay if you stick to the basics. My mother in law had the fish and chips and enjoyed it. I had the salad of the day and my wife had the alleged Thai curry and both were very poor.

My wife and I were working in Kilbirnie last week. We visited the R&J Inn for a light bite at lunch-time. We both ordered the soup of the day which was a delicious fresh cauliflower cream soup garnished with roasted florets of cauliflower. First class. I also enjoyed a panini which was perfectly toasted, and was filled with good quality ingredients. We would definitely return and also recommend this restaurant and bar to others.

Went here with my parents for a double birthday celebration for lunch. Very quiet (only another 2 customers in). Seated quickly enough, however waited a long time for our order to be taken. I ordered the nachos with melted cheese salsa and sour cream dip. My parents fish and a breakfast. Waited about half an hour for our meals and when they did arrive the cheese on my nachos had gone cold and hard. We wanted a desert (apple pie and custard/ice cream) and noticed on the menu it said it could take up to 8 - 10 mins, so we ordered it while half way through our mains. 30 minutes later it still hadn't arrived and we asked the waitress when it was coming. She went to ask and we heard a lot of shouting coming from the kitchen (at this point there was another 3 customers who had came in). We were told it was just coming. 45 mins later the waitress came out with look warm apple pie, which was also soggie. When we left there was no apology for the wait. We will not be back.

Upon my 4th visit to this restaurant for lunch with my fiancée we were led to a table to be seated in a empty restaurant, although I was aware a small party were congregating in the foyer. The lady who seated us promptly returned to say they couldn’t accommodate us as they had a party arriving. No notice outside or any indication of this left us both extremely embarrassed and infuriated as we had to leave. Needless to say we will not be returning. Perhaps think of employing a school dinner lady in your kitchen that can service a large dining area

There wasn't a long wait for the food which was delicious, plentiful and very reasonably priced. Came in for a family lunch to try it out on several recommendations. I cant fault the welcome and the table service it was very good. Where it fell short for me was the lentil soup which was probably the thinnest lentil soup I've ever eaten, the good news is we all ate it as it was still tasty but it lacked a bit of body. All the other food presentation wise was spot on however for the prices paid i expected a whole chicken breast on the pepper chicken order half of it seemed to be missing. Both the chicken and beef burgers were lovely as was the fish goujons. So all in all it was a good meal i wish i could have went higher with my review but it's sometimes the little things that make the difference.

Having two young kids in the company was not a problem for the very helpful staff and have found the food to be of a fairly high standard and well presented. There is plenty of car parking space which is a bonus in Dalry. At our last visit I had lentil soup and steak pie from the set menu (£12:95) and both were very tasty.

Since the manager had my previous review removed. Let me reiterate. The food is startlingly mediocre, overpriced and and not well cooked. My mother's deep fried 'fillet' was so overcooked you could have scrubbed your back with it. The starter was like something from iceland that was again fried and the dips were just mayonnaise with various stuff added to it. Service was very nice but could be more attentive.I suggest the manager should perhaps pay more attention to the quality of his menu rather than spend time getting reviews deleted from trip advisor. If you don't like the truth, then do something constructive about it.

First of all, I'd just like to point out that the food served in here is absolutely first class, it tastes fresh, it is very well presented and you get a generous amount. There were 4 of us there tonight, all had different things, Fish, Scampi, Steak Pie and a Grilled Chicken Burger. We all finished our plates no problem, genuinely delicious. The only complaint was that the Fish dish, had far too many chips on the plate, a handful less of chips and maybe add Peas? Would have been far more logical. So the food and service gets 5 stars, no problem at all there. However, what spoiled the night, was the cost of the drinks. It cost £21 for 4 pints of Cider, 2 cokes and a Sparkling Water. Maybe I'm being harsh, maybe that's what it normally costs elsewhere also, but all 4 of us were pretty shocked and a bit disappointed by that, it pretty much cost the same as the 4 main meals did. I don't want that to put anyone off going though, you will not be disappointed in the food, believe me. Honestly first class. I just feel the expense of the drinks may put us off going back, and I appreciate that it might have been logical to check the price of the drinks first, but if we are being honest, no one usually does, we did not expect that large a bill for what we had.

This was not first choice of restaurant for my sisters nieces and I take Mum for lunch on Mothers Day, but it worked for us and her. There were 8 of us, 6 adults and two small children. Place was empty at 12noon when we arrived but that was no problem, it soon filled up. Menu with lots of choice, but gluten free limited. Something to suit all tastes. Food was nicely presented well cooked and hot. Good value for money and service was polite, quick and helpful, not intrusive. Although I have given this a rating of 4 it is not where I would choose first off but really good for quick lunch. Decor is nice enough but atmosphere is lacking and it is not cosy being very wide open. I have real issues with the name - Romeo and Juliet may have been lovers but what about the end? We had been advised to make reservations for a weekend, glad I remembered, they were busy with 2 or 3 functions in the private rooms and one corner of the dining room, not that you would notice, the staff were perfect and very attentive. The menu looked good but as we expected "pub grubby", so imagine our surprise and delight when the food came....it was NOTHING like pub grub...this was top notch restaurant food, delicious and beautifully presented, the pate was wonderful and the tomato soup, outstanding. The mains came and were to the same standard, my steak was perfectly cooked, the burger my son had was huge!!!! The drinks are real from cans, no yucky draft stuff here and the house white wine was very pleasant. All in all we had an amazing meal out in a great find of a place, we can't wait to go back. Another member of staff behind the bar then said to the same waitress that he thought the kitchen closed at 9pm on Sundays........We were left with the impression that our custom was not required, so we turned on our heels and left. Terrible impression of Scottish hospitality, which on this occasion was completely lacking. If I was the manager or owner, I'd be highly embarrassed. I'd also be questioning an individual's employment, as they seemed quite happy to lose me business.........certainly not committed to any form of customer service, or even common civility.

Waiting staff very pleasant and helpful. Sent back my main meal, I had stupidly ordered Macaroni Cheese thinking they probably couldn't mess that up ! Wrong . it was worse than out of a packet and when the Manager came over to ask me why I sent it back I told him it tasted of powder like it was made from a packet, He started arguing with me, talking over me and telling me the meal was made with fresh cheese which he could show me, he then went to the kitchen and came back with a tub of grated cheese !! Just because I have cheese in my fridge does not prove I have cooked a meal containing it. I still swear it was out of a packet, it had no melted cheese anywhere on it and the sauce was thin and unpleasant. I am a good home-cook and therefore I know the difference between home-made and packet sauce. I also can't believe he would stand and argue with me in the middle of people's meals. They didn't charge me for that dish but I had ordered a bowl of chips as I was starving and they did charge me for that so at least they half-rectified it. This guy seriously needs some training in how to deal with negative criticism. !

Visited this establishment for a football function last week and must say that I was impressed by the standard of food at a function of over 180 people. The layout of the function room certainly looked impressive. The time taken to serve the food was certainly not acceptable but I am lead to believe that this was their first time of handling this type of event therefore hopefully it will improve. The three course menu of soup followed by a choice of main course followed by a choice of dessert was of a higher quality than I have experienced at similar events.Hopefully when they have properly trained bar staff and better kitchen efficiency it will be a first class venue for functions.

Manager followed me out of restaurant when I had the cheek to give an honest answer when asked about "How was my meal". I was very polite in expressing my opinion to the waiter when he asked about my meal but I WAS honest!! When it came to paying the bill the manager came over and was very confrontational. Continuously saying no one has ever complained before. I told him "Maybe not to your face". This angered him extremely and a low key verbal assault was launched at my husband and I as we went to our car.For your information the meal was:Had a 2 person combo to share (mozzarella sticks, mushrooms, jalapenos stuffed with cheese) - awful - overcooked, Iceland specials. Absolutely awful!"Traditional Steak Pie" for main was just stewing steak with a bit of dried out puff pastry on top. Small portion of semi-tasty steak was made up for by quite good chips. Veg tasted like the frozen variety with some fresh cooked savoy cabbage mixed in to make it look fresh.Other main meal was a burger. Bun too big for burger - you know that small pat of meat in the middle. Bun a bit dry - not too bad but not great. Waiting staff were very nice - sorry for any hassle you felt guys, you were as polite as I was. I didn't leave a tip only because of the food and your manager!

We went to restaurant for my son's birthday and have to say that we were pleasantly surprised, everything was great. The food was excellent and portions were amazing. They are just starting up and I am sure that over time the decoration will become more inviting but this did not detract from our experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Cannot fault this place at all and we will be back

My family and I had the pleasure of having our Christmas day lunch at Romeo & Juliet's. Our table of 7 would all agree that it was first class, especially the non super inflated prices that xmas day invariably brings. The only problem we encountered was the a fore mentioned xmas from hell table. Loud, brash and very offensive to the staff. Easily recognized, with an attitude and ego so inflated that my only thought was Santa did not bring the presents or family members that they wanted. Our herb salad that accompanied our starter was bursting with flavor. Main course, turkey moist, potatoes the perfect crusty skin and pillowy inside, all was a delight. The last course was a treat, we all had something different from the menu and all agreed it was an extremely enjoyable few hours away from the telly.Christmas day always brings some sort of personal pressures, but to treat staff in an unchristian like fashion on this day of all days is more profound than the previous review would suggest. I will certainly pray for that table of guests and to Romeo & Juliet's, to keep up the good work

Popped into this relatively new eatery (formerly operating in West Kilbride), for a quick lunchtime snack. It was empty, just one couple in the restaurant and one in the coffee lounge. Food was good, soup piping hot and snacks tasty and plentiful. However, there was absolutely no atmosphere in this barn-like room. I am sure it would be better if it was busy but on this day it was soul-less. Hope it gets busy as it is a long winter ahead.

Our party of five had an absolutely fantastic dinner yesterday, soup piping hot, pate and prawns first class. Main meals were hot and delicious, and the desserts were lovely. Only complaint was that there was too much!! , Restaurant looked lovely, with tables perfectly set, two sets of sugar, plenty of butter for the hot rolls. staff were very attentive but unobtrusive. An elderly member of our party didn't feel very well and was given a room to lie down in..we were shown to the room through a corridor where a fairytale Santa's Grotto had been set up for the children.. Fantastic service from all at Romeo & Juliet's..

My friend her son and myself have just had the Christmas Dinner from Hell at this place. The dinner was cold, potatoes raw and sweet as dry as old cardboard. We had to ask on three separate occasions for butter for rolls, sugar for tea and cutlery for various courses. We thought things couldn`t get any worse but how wrong was I. The manager phoned my friend to say we had left without paying the bill. Our dinner was paid if full weeks ago. We booked the dinner and paid a deposit one week, the next week we went in and paid the dinner in full. And at a cost of £36 per head I wish we hadn`t bothered. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Completely wasted our day.

Booked for a group of 12 people for our Xmas Lunch today. It was certainly a 5 Star outing and everyone enjoyed a well presented , excellent quality, great variety festive meal. Although the food had the usual xmas choices there were also plenty of other choices to be had on their Xmas Menu. I would recommend any other groups looking to book their Xmas Lunch to give this restaurant a try.

We didn't have a reservation, just came straight in. Greater very warmly by staff. Offered choice of looking at menu as we just wanted a snack, then accommodated in dining room. Very pleasant staff, nothing any trouble, no rush. I'm pretty choosy where I eat, and I'll come back for the very pleasant staff who made everything no trouble. Thank you.

We visit this restaurant at least once a week when we can manage. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing is a problem. The food is always lovely and frehly cooked. The home made desserts to die for. Especially the caramel cake. It is very busy at the weekends so be sure to book your table. I thoroughly recommend you give it a try.

....and counting. We had been given a few good reviews on Romeo & Juliet's newly opened establishment in the area, so decided recently to try the restaurant for ourselves. The menu has a good variety of choices and where it states "homemade", it certainly is. We've visited with family and also on our own and there has been a variety of dishes ordered during these visits including (and in no particular order) homemade lasagne, macaroni cheese, homemade soup, fillet steak, children's meals, beef stroganoff,.... to name but a few.Every time the food is delicious and never has the bill been overly expensive, for example, under £95 for 4 adults and 2 children with 2 courses each, quite a few drinks including a bottle of wine and children's meals - excellent value and definitely a contender for competition locally. Will be back again, no doubt a few times before the festive season.

Stayed here lastnight. Venue seems OK in the restaurant area we just had a snack (over £7 for 1 portion!) which was nice but expensive for a toastie! but DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE...they are just disgusting. Maybe we should have realised when we were asked to pay for the room before being allowed access to it. It was like being taken to a cell (I imagine!) Cold, dirty, hairs, cobwebs, thick dust, blinds dirty, NO HOT WATER in the morning but as the place is deserted and you just depart and leave your key without seeing anyone there is nobody on site to complain to! Cost £50 for the room..total rip off, awful place, have never stayed in anywhere so bad! Breakfast is an additional £6 but is not served until 10.30am tho you have to be out of your room for 10am....not sure why as I can't imagine there will be much of a demand for rooms!! YUK! needless to say we were out of the place as early as possible!

Had a lovely meal here on Friday with three friends , was surprised how tasty the food was good size portions , plenty of chips with our meal being a chip lover this was a winner for me , we all had main and desert bottle of wine and the bill was £58 would have paid more. The only things a would pick on are the menu design very cafe/bar needs to be a little fancier to go with the nicer decor , also the music that played during our meal must have been the top ten most depressing songs, simple attention to detail and this place would be excellent will defiantly go back xx

We were Romeo and Juliet virgins until tonight. We've just moved to the village and this place was recommmended to us by our family The Cottons, who eat there regularly. It's friendly, clean and the food is great. There's something on their menu to please eveyone. It's not haute cuisine, it's just normal 'down to earth' food, plenty of it and affordable. The owner was on site and gave us a free glass of wine, lovely touch. Our daughter wanted a Brownie and they managed to find her a very good subsitute ; a chocolate muffin'. We'll be back....time and time again.

This is a terrific little bistro. The food is simple, delicious and there's always plenty of it. Not pretentious, just a relaxed friendly atmosphere. It's also spotlessly clean and the owner is almost always on site - he is a real gentleman and an asset to the village. So well priced that you can afford to feed a family of four there for what you would pay for a couple almost anywhere else. Don't think twice - you're in for a treat in a restaurant that really is a hidden gem.

We are regulars in this lovely little Bistro/restaurant. We have had snack lunches, coffees and romantic dinners in Romeos as we call it. Yasser and Theresa are very welcoming and it is great value for money. All the staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive on your night out. Feel valued as customers, thoughtful owners e.g. free drink for birthday / mother in law's birthday. Would recommend.

Visited this Bistro for the 2nd time last weekend.Moved to Scotland from England 6 months ago and were looking to find somewhere fairly localto get a good, reasonably priced meal. This place ticks all the boxes.Has a small area with tables for 2 at the front of the premises and a larger area with bigger tables, reached by a separate entrance at the side.A great, varied all day menu, plus a set 2 or 3 course menu. I plumped for the 2 course menu which is £7.99 - had a starter of R & J Salad, feta cheese in a large bowl of tasty salad. Followed by home made Fish Goujons with chips and another tasty salad. My husband had homemade Pea & Ham Soup, followed by homemade Lasagne and Garlic Bread off of the main menu. With a bottle of wine, a soft drink and a coffee we had change from £35.00.Easy to find, free parking nearby, friendly staff, great food at great prices, what more could you ask for.

A lovely Farm shop, selling lots of little gifts along with the yummiest of food. Their Beef and Venison Pies are scrumptious, as was the Macaroni Cheese pie. There is also a Restaurant/Tea Room, serving delicious local food and all so farm fresh. For children, there is a play area and a some cute farm animals to keep them entertained. A must visit if you are in the area

We have visited this cafe a few times recently as its quite good. The food is reasonably priced and worth the money. They stop selling hot food about 3.30, so you do need to get there quite early as it's quite popular. They have recently changed the name of the cafe to - cafe at the park and we don't particularly like it but other than that it's good.
