Roka Mediterranean Restaurant and Cocktail Bar in Bolton

Prawns still thawing on plate, veg raw, veg missing, fish overcooked, pre-ordered food not available on night, poor service, no one ever checked to see if food etc OK.

First visit despite living local and it exceded our expectations. Service friendly, polite and efficient. The food was superb and portions very large. The lamb casserole had been cooked to perfection with not a single piece of fat in the lamb. Authentic, quality food with great service. Will definitely go back, and soon.

Brilliant family meal for my parents 40th wedding anniversary. We had a table of 15, including children/ highchairs and the staff couldn't have been more lovely. We had read recent poor reviews about Roka after apparently changing management but decided to go anyway and we're all glad we didn't change plans/ restaurant. The food was lovely, we ordered lots of sharing mezze boards to start, followed by lots of different main meals which everyone enjoyed. The staff were lovely, service was quick and we didn't feel rushed at all. We've been regular customers at Roka and I think that this was the best visit yet. Thank you for a lovely night!

I'll start with the only positive, and that was that the food was reasonable. We were initially seated in the new extension, which is a bit like a school canteen with absolutely no atmosphere. It did, however, stink of amonia, making it impossible to enjoy eating in there. We asked to be reseated in the front of the restaurant which staff did without fuss, " Thank you!" Eight minutes into our starters, the main courses arrived, and despite saying we hadn't finished our starters, the server continued to try and leave the mains on the table ( I couldn't even put this down to being busy as they weren't and there was more staff than customers ) Once we received our bill, we found extra drinks added to it, and sides charged for that had failed to arrive. This used to be our favourite restaurant, and it's sad that standards have been allowed to drop so far.

Unfortunately, we booked for my boyfriends birthday and received our confirmation email, but when we arrived, it was shut. We didn't receive any communication that it would be closed and even, on arrival, there was no note on the door or anything. It was a shame as we were looking forward to it and had driven around half an hour to get there. Massive shame.

Food was cold and had to be done again. Service was shocking and overcharged! Poor communication throughout. Also very expensive for poor food and service and then £20 added on as a service charge just because there were more than 6 of us! Will not be visiting again! I think having only 2 tables full on a weekend night says a lot!

We are a homeless charity that booked for a party of 20 people to have Christmas dinner together. We were given the Christmas menu a few weeks before and we were asked to pay £200 deposit. On arrival we took our seats, ordered drinks and then a member of staff came to us and told us that the Christmas menu was no longer available. They rang us during the day to check that the number of people attending was still the same but they didn’t mention anything about the menu being changed. I feel like we’ve been cheated out of our Christmas dinner and the whole situation has ruined a positive year for our charity. They gave us free drinks but still doesn’t make up for the whole situation.

Absolutely love this place, the food and staff are brilliant. there is a wide variety on the menu which is cooked to perfection. there is always a lot of very helpful staff.

Very overcrowded, even the Bar had tables around it. My starter of chicken wings came immediately, which suggested they were already cooked and not fresh. The food came before the drinks and my wife's main course had to be returned as it was cold in the middle. Staff were asking us for our table number. As regulars, we found a marked problem, both with Staff and the food. We will not be returning anytime soon.

I found the music a little too loud for conversation & we,& several other couples, were asked to move tables to allow a very large birthday party to move in. One couple even went after their starter as they'd also had to move. Somewhat chaotic.

We spent a very enjoyable evening at Roka on Saturday. We arrived at 7.30 and were seated immediately. The food choice is extensive. The food came quickly after we ordered. We all enjoyed our meals. They were delicious and the service was excellent, both quick and courteous. The atmosphere was great.

We stumbled across this place tonight and it was wonderful. The food was sublime and the staff all very friendly and accommodating.

2nd time around. Garlic bread with cheese was lovely but the Rokka special kebab. Just a bit of donner kebab meat. Not the spit roasted seasoned lamb i was expecting and the meat was cold. Disappointing to say the least.

I've used this place twice. The first time they were overbooked so we didn't eat. The second time I ordered seafood paella which was awful, I think the seafood was scrapped off the bottom of the Irwell and it was swimming in grease.

Disappointed from the start. A not so happy host when we entered the Resturant. We had a coeliac with us and the menu had (gf) next to the dishes that compiled with gluten free but when we the main course arrived the chicken and halloumi dish came with flatbread containing gluten. The dish has to be re-made. The bathrooms are vile, the women’s especially. No toilet seat on one of the toilets. It was on the floor. A lot Dried vomit on the toilet cubicle door and in the lock. Dirty sinks and radiator. This made one person in our group feel so dirty she just wanted to leave to take a shower. When we mentioned it to the (unhappy) waitress no kind gesture was made like have a free drink etc. Won’t be coming back!

First visit here for me it won’t be the last I ordered the mixed grill, sort of a Turkish mixed with very tasty selection of meats , chicken, lamb , steak , kebab meat with dips salad etc really nice food had by all 7 of us , we will definitely visit again

Food was okay. Personally i think it was overpriced for the quality of food and dishes on offer (£18-20+). At £10-12 a main I would be saying it was very good for the money. Atmosphere was very noisy (it was a Saturday night and very busy) and service was generally good.

Fantastic local eatery. Reasonably priced for what you got. We were a small party and sat right next to a table of 15+ would've been nice to be put away from them as it got a little loud at times. Nit picking but overall would go back.

Cannot fault the service, staff were attentive and polite. We really enjoyed our starters, the mains were okay, a bit expensive for what they were though. The place is decorated really nice and the building is very quaint but it was very loud and we couldn't really have a conversation. That might just have been the day and time we went.

I had the donner kebab which was tasty and my partner had a Chicken dish (which I tried and was also tasty). I had a yummy cheesecake to finish off. Lovely atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to come back again soon!

Great place and food and service are awesome. The garlic bread and meatballs were ace. Chicken and lamb skewers for mains, really good. Only down side, they put us in a side room, then we realised when people kept walking right past our table, that we were right outside toilet. Should have asked to move but didn't want make a fuss. Still had a great night, just a heads up, you need to get rid of that table spot. It's a stupid place for people to sit.Only other issue is carpark, tiny and very hard to get in and out if you are lucky to get a spot. Service, food and the place are first class and beautiful. Think next time we'll ensure we get a table in the main bit though. 😅😄

Nice meal, very quick. They like to clap happy birthday. Main meals are the right size that you can order a starter. They're not great at asking if you want another drink. Wanted everything on the menu.

Came to ROKKA tonight to celebrate my birthday with my family. We all had a lovely time. Delicious food and drinks and lovely staff. I'd visited ROKKA before, but none of my family had and they all commented on what a lovely atmosphere the restaurant had, how much they had enjoyed their evening there and how lovely the food and staff were. I'm sure this won't be their last visit!

Went here for our daughter's 35th birthday, the place was busy for a Tuesday evening but as we'd booked a table there was no problem. The service was spot on and the food was hot and delicious upon delivery. Would highly recommend here for a meal.

Bit pricey but can't fault anything else

We have visited Rokka several times and whilst the food is always really nice the staff are not the friendliest and the place lacks atmosphere. There is very little customer interaction. I asked if we could use our Meerkat code and I was told the ‘boss no longer does this’ despite having the offer showing as available on the compare site. I don’t mind paying full price if the food is nice, which it is, but it’s a shame the staff don’t make a bit more effort to make the customers feel welcome.

The service here was to the highest of standards, and the food tasted amazing. It was on a busy night that was fully booked but they still managed to fit a table of 2 and serve food to us really quickly, which tasted amazing. We did have a little problem when we ordered the dessert, but it’s understandable because it was packed on a busy Saturday night, and as soon as we told the waiter it was resolved within 5 minutes. Christian was mainly our waiter for the evening and he was very cheerful and made us feel welcome. Would 100% recommend this place if you are ever looking for somewhere to eat in bolton and we will definitely be coming again.

Dined here tonight. The portions are huge and really reasonably priced. We sat outside as it’s currently boiling and the outdoor area to the rear is stunning! 100% recommend. Also accepts tastecard Monday-Thursdays!

Absolutely fantastic food and service! The full experience of Turkish hospitality!! The food is absolutely delicious and the variety of Turkish wine pairs perfectly with it. Thank you to the chefs and staff for making our experience feel just like we were sat in Dalyan. We will definitely be back!

I have a Tastecard and Rokka is recommended with 25% off the final bill. The only stipulations are that you have to book ahead and go Monday-Thursday. When we arrived the place was mostly empty so we asked if we could sit overlooking the terrace; we were told no. We informed the waiter, when we booked, that we will be using our Tastecard and he said that was okay. We ordered two main courses, both over £20 each, a side salad to share and two alcoholic beverages. The table service was good, the food came quickly and was very tasty. When we paid we reminded the waiter that we had a tastecard. This was then refused as, the head waiter said, we had not ordered two courses each. This is not stipulated on the tastecard app and no one informed us if this at the time of booking. If it wasn’t for the tastecard recommending a visit we would not have booked. Therefore we will not visiting you again; you should honour the agreement of the tastecard…terms and conditions! Nice experience until then.

Came with my parents for my birthday meal. I am vegetarian and had ordered the mushroom and spinach risotto for my main course. What arrived was the chicken risotto. Food was sent back and I was left to watch my parents eating. Then when the correct dish arrived it was undercooked and the rice was still crunchy, pretty much inedible. Service was poor, staff didn’t seem to care that they’d made a mistake and nothing was done to rectify the second issue. Definitely would not recommend and will not be returning.

The food is completely typical of a place that describes itself as a restaurant yet they don't cook from scratch most of their offerings are bought in partially cooked and then microwaved, the waiting staff are not very well informed and just a touch too pushy, don't expect too much

21st birthday celebration with 14 family. Coming from the other side of Bolton this was our 1st visit. It had been recommended by a friend. The food was amazing and service to match. Every single one of the 14 commented on how good the evening was. This will now be our "go to restaurant" Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

First visit for my sons 21st, 14 persons..What can I say, the food was amazing and the service exceptional.Nothing was too much trouble for them,and the way they wished Myles a happy birthday with their singing was delightful! Looking forward to our next visit.

Greeting great. Downhill from there. Music so loud difficult to talk. Waiter dismissive. Worst of all food appalling- ordered the mixed grill for 2. Albeit plentiful overcooked to point of cremation. Clearly not freshly cooked as dry & cold. Sadly couldn’t return it as normal as large family celebration ages 25-78 & would be embarrassed. Would not recommend

Food is fantastic. Unfortunately, the staff member I interacted with some weeks ago - was not. I ordered three desserts online for click and collect. He was later adamant there was no way - no how - no possibility I could have ordered three desserts for 7.20 online -“that would cost less than we got them/ingredients for” So he gave me two, and I paid 7.80. When I realised I’d paid over it was only pennies - no big deal. I did however resent the missing cake so I went back. We argued for five/ten mins until he relented and gave me the third cake. His attitude toward me and being called “baby” and “darling” on repeat did not feel appropriate or professional. I gave the benefit of the doubt, perhaps untrained, perhaps having a bad day - whatever. Anyway - go on the website today to make sure the prices have updated and look at this… 7.20, three desserts, still!! Fix it if it’s wrong!

The staff were really helpful. Great Mediterranean restaurant. We had two in our party who were gluten-free and our food choices were somewhat limited, their gluten-free chocolate dessert was delicious

We love Turkish so thought we’d give it a go ! On arrival great holiday feel with smiling Mediterranean looking chap to show us to table. Was lead to back of restaurant to large balcony area with outside feel but still warm. Traditional feel. Menu is nice mix of authentic Turkish with Italian mix but we stuck to Turkish. Food was beautiful, very attentive service ! And last surprise was the bill even though we had nice bottle Marlborough Sauvignon and the £50 meat feast to share was still under £100. We will definitely be back ! And surrounding area is beautiful do not be out off by Bolton it is in Bradshaw and it’s lovely ! No offence to Bolton !

This is a very nice restaurant we booked online but really didn't need to as the is lots & lots of tables, staff very attentive polite & professionals, they weren't pushy like other places. the food was delicious, good sections of wines, beers, & for me none alcoholic 🍺 the prices for 4 adults starters & mains with quite a lot of drinks superb. also no Service charge . Seating outside give that abroad feeling If coming bolton side I would drive pass the restaurant & turn around further up & come to the car park on the left as its a tricky junction.

Just been for a meal at Roka disco was supposed to be a restaurant but apparently not anymore, been a few times in the past and always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We couldn’t hear ourselves talk and had to actually shout our orders, what’s going on?…sorry but was absolutely ridiculous, the music was so loud my ears are still thumping. When we actually paid the guy took our money and I complained about the noise to my surprise he actually agreed and said it was out of order, didn’t do anything though, SORRY Roka but if you are going to start running a disco can you let people know as most of the people I know who go out for a meal like to hear themselves talk. To the owners I’m sure you visit other restaurants for meals out, seriously if you were in a restaurant with a shambles like tonight would you have been happy ??

Food good. But attitude of some staff abrupt when taking menu orders. Also disagreements by staff with customers at nearby table not acceptable. Cleanliness in the ladies toilets dreadful with hand wash sinks filthy with scum all around and up both sinks. Overall visit . Won't be returning.

I've been a few times now to Rokka meditatian Resturant, and I have been more than pleased.!! With their attentive service, great atmosphere, and amazing food. Rely dose make for a relaxing evening dinner out!. Rely recommend the chicken liver 😋 spot on every time!! 👌

First time we have been to Rokka, was 10 people for a family meal, various starters from calamari and meatballs with garlic bread with goats cheese, to mains which was mainly chicken/beef beyti and chicken and lamb skewers all the food was amazing, washed down with fantastic cocktails and beer, all the staff are very friendly and efficient and go out of there way to make sure everything is perfect. Highly recommend, and we will be returning, thankyou everyone loved it.

Atmosphere good however the food was not great at all. The kebabs were not as good as they have been previously as peppers and little extras were missing. The desserts were very poor. The slice of cheesecake i had was TINY and the other guys...

The food here is lovely, I can highly recommend this place for a night out, just don't drive as there is very little parking around.
