I have no idea how in the world the hotel has such a high rating. The rooms are large and the bed looked comfortable, but the design and colour scheme was atrocious. It DID NOT look like the pictures. It was almost entirely brown or muted greens and just very ugly unless you're a major fan of brown. The food was excellent. I did consider staying for the chef alone. That said, they're bad. I'm intersex and was super excited to see the gender neutral title of Mx. on their hotel reservation website thinking that they were accepting and welcoming. They're not. The staff completely ignored my preferences and called me "Madam" or "Ma'am" the entire time. I ended up not staying the night. NOT WORTH IT.

The Rocpool Reserve was a real gem and handy as a base for exploring Inverness and its surrounds. They even provided jellybeans in the lounge when we were visiting so we could sit around in the evenings and just enjoy the restful environment. Their signature onsite restaurant Chez Roux was superb and lived up to its billing for both breakfast (their custom jams were magnificent) and dinner. Our only regret was having only 3 days in inverness as the Rocpool Reserve was that good that we wanted to stay longer...

I stayed in Rocpool Reserve Hotel in August 2018. Chez Roux restaurant was one of my main reasons for staying there. The hotel itself is worthy of its 5 stars. The welcome to the hotel was warm. The building is beautifully furnished with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were attentive but inobtrusive, making my stay very enjoyable.

As a fervent world traveler and real estate agent with an appreciation for old-world buildings, my recent dining experience at Rocpool Restaurant in Inverness was a delightful blend of historical charm and culinary excellence. Nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Rocpool seamlessly marries exquisite cuisine with the rich tapestry of its historic surroundings. Upon entering Rocpool, the ambiance whisked me away to a bygone era, where elegance prevailed. The warm, inviting atmosphere harmonized with the restaurant's commitment to preserving the building's historical essence. The attentive service enhanced the overall charm, making my dining experience feel like a leisurely stroll through time. The menu at Rocpool showcased culinary mastery that left my taste buds in awe. Our choice of the duck was a symphony of flavors, a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to providing a gastronomic journey paralleling the historical richness of the surroundings. The old fashions served were equally impressive, perfectly complementing the decadence of the meal. Overall, Rocpool Restaurant is a haven for history enthusiasts and culinary connoisseurs alike. The fusion of exquisite cuisine, impeccable service, and a touch of historical charm, combined with the delightful duck and impeccable old fashions, ensures my return for more memorable culinary adventures in the future. #whoyouchoosematters #bjsellsjax #thebobbiejeandemunckgroup #travelwithbobbiejean #rocpool #scottland

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

So much nicer in the restaurant now they have done it up! Very impressed, the restaurant is lovely and modern, looks much more like a hotel restaurant. The food was a little on the pricey side, but not overly so, the food is definitely more aesthetically appealing and much better quality! The Balmoral chicken was fantastic.

All take-out, but you can eat inside. Food was fine, service was fine, BUT there is ONE guy at the bar and everyone has to pay at the bar. Somehow none of the service providers know how/are allowed to run the cash register. So all the people stopping by for a beer, and all the people eating, and all the locals who are regulars, all need this one guy. He's trying to fill beer and drink orders, AND run the only cash register. The place was PACKED and the line went through the entire restaurant. We had a tour booked 30 minutes later and had to ask for special treatment in order to get checked out in time to make our tour, which made us feel like jerks, but really it's just a really inefficient business practice. They can do better.
