Tried there Sunday roast 😡😡😡tiny portion, salty gravy all in all couldn’t eat it ,totally disgusting won’t be returning avoid

Rudest staff that need serious retraining or attitude transplants. Ordered two drinks, coming to £9.10 and paid with a £10 note. Male bartender took note and said something sly to their colleague while taking ages to get the change. Wondered what was taking so long, only to be handed back a 50p and 40p in pennies, so many they wouldn’t fit in our hand. My mum asked if it was a joke, to which his colleague replied “it’s money isn’t it”. Made another comment that we could just pay on card, like it was an inconvenience to them accepting cash? We had 10p, so said just give us a £1 coin. The rude woman said 'let's just leave it at that' to try and shut down any conversation. Proceeded to slam the drink down and throw a spoon across the counter. Weirdly angry staff. Won't be back. After leaving a google review initially, the owner replied saying we lied and not to return. The final insult to injury, we have no reason to falsify a review.

My friend and I popped into here today (27 March 2024) for lunch - met by Phoebe who provided friendly, knowledgeable and exemplary service. The Malbec was excellent, and our chicken gyros was superb; ended up having desserts too which were delicious. Good atmosphere and an all round lovely lunch - would definitely return and recommend to others. Particular shout out to Phoebe - a credit to the bar!

Great place! I stopped off for a coffee and lunch, but was very tempted to have a pint and more! Really well done, staff were excellent.

Avoid. Rude & unhelpful bar staff. Obviously very unhappy in their jobs. Paid for wrong drinks order. Wouldn’t have minded but the two women behind the bar were just so unpleasant. So many other much more friendly places to eat and drink in Bexhill, definitely won’t be returning to Calvers.

Went for dinner and a catch up with friends. Booked well in advance but a last minute music event was put on. Great music but so loud you cannot hear each other and end up shouting all evening (I am under 40 and it was far too loud) so if you want to talk through dinner, Id go when there is no music. We werent the only table saying this too. Food was ok, quite expensive for what it was and compared to other places. Service was quite slow, had to ask twice to order. Waitress told us the wrong prices for cocktails when we ordered them, when the bill came the cocktails were more but they wouldnt honour what they had told us - just got told she got it wrong. Overall the venue is nice but would opt for elsewhere in future.

Great accommodation, friendly staff and lovely fresh breakfast. The rooms were clean and had all amenities. Check in proccess was easy

I love this oasis in the town centre! The staff are fabulous, always welcoming and helpful. The food is superb and the selection of wine, ales/lagers and spirits is excellent. The venue is warm and close to the beach and the De La Warr pavilion. Calvers is dog friendly, child friendly and just a great space to chill! BM

Today we had a wonderful lunch with some very good friends and our decision to visit Calvers Neighbourhood Bar again made it even more perfect. We were greeted by a very friendly member of the team who looked after us for the whole time we were there and was very attentive throughout. All 4 of us enjoyed our food which included their delicious homemade burgers, Mexican dirty fries and moreish chicken wings, all followed up with homemade puddings which were to die for! The sticky toffee sauce - I could have drunk it! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon, and once again, you didn’t disappoint us. Love coming to visit you and only wish we could have stayed for longer, especially as you have one of my favourite bands playing this evening! Alas the school run beckoned 😂 but we will be back soon! Keep up the hard work as love having you in Bexhill. We will see you soon 🙌.

Met today for the first time at this bar and we all had a great meal with fantastic service! Could not fault anything and we would all most certainly be back! Tuba was lovely and very attentive, nice friendly place with great food and great service. Location would be even better once the summer is here too!

Unexpectedly dissapointed! It was highy reccomded and the food is a complete let down. Unattentive staff. We did not enjoy the experienced at all. We won’t be back!

Terrible - took over an hour for an overpriced meal to come - it was just 2 chicken souvlakis but despite chasing 3 or 4 times it took 1 hour and 10 minutes to come from 3.10 pm on a sunday. £40 for two small souvlakis and a soft drink each. Staff offish and uninterested. We won't be back!

I visited this busy bar on a Thursday night to see a live band and liaise with family later. Although they did manage to squeeze me in for a pre "show" supper I was told I would have to vacate the table at 19.15 which gave me 22 minutes.... The menu states they have normal cider and Guinness but sadly not anymore. I had an Irish Stout which was passable. At 19.14 I duly vacated my table and watched in amusement as several other non "bookees" tried to take my place to no avail. I observed the comedy scenario of loads of frustrated people looking at empty tables which were unusable due to bookings later. Having worked in the industry for many years you may wish to consider keeping some tables free when you have live music for the people that come to see it - just a thought? P.S. The pie and mash was delicious once I had cracked open the pastry case - a little less time in the oven perhaps....?

Had previously had a bad experience here but that was last year so decided to give it another try. Popped in today for breakfast and had to wait a while to place our order. It wasnt particularly busy.. there was a table of 8, another table of a 4 and us. We finally ordered and then waited 45 minutes before I asked a member of staff if we could be given an idea of how much longer we would be waiting for our food and was met with quite a rude response of ‘you ordered last after everyone else in here’. I would fully understand that if they were rushed off there feet and the place was packed, but 3 tables doesnt warrant that kind of wait. When the food did arrive, there was an item missing off each plate. The food itself was good quality, but half of it was lovely and hot, and half cold!

There's a demographic feel here. It feels right - music and friendly waitress. But if they offer hand-pulled house beer, they should love it and make sure it's PERFECT. And not pull a face when asked for a replacement. Food is pricey but well presented.
