Having first visited the Rock Cross in February, we made a return visit with friends yesterday so they too could sample the excellent Sunday Lunch served at the inn. Again we received the most friendly welcome, excellent service and totally wonderful food. This time I had a lighter starter which ensured I was able to enjoy a sumptuous desert. An amazing experience, excellent food and an exceptional place to eat out! Thank you to all the team at Rock Cross Inn

Today we had the great privilege of having the most delicious Sunday lunch at the Rock Cross Inn. On arrival the welcoming proprietor quickly showed us to our table where we were met by a lovely friendly waitress. The drinks we ordered arrived promptly whilst our waitress was taking our order. The generously portioned starters we ordered were indeed excellent. The main course was absolutely superb; the roast meat, Yorkshire puddings and fantastic roast potatoes arrived on hot plates accompanied by a tureen of beautifully cooked fresh vegetables. We were full to the brim and therefore unfortunately could not tackle the desert course, but the deserts being served to tables next to us looked amazing. We found the Rock Cross to be a real gem of a find and highly recommend their most amazingly wonderful Sunday lunch. Huge thanks to all of the team you made it such a fantastic experience and a venue we will be returning to again soon.

Been some time since we visited here, but was still good, it's not very big, but warm and welcoming, the menu's not big but catere's for all, there's also a selection of specials, what was missing was the Liver and onions, that used to be something else. The food was excellent, steaks cooked to perfection, and large portions, would definitely recommend booking.

We had been to a wedding the previous night at the equally excellent Rock village hall and had to come back to collect the car so it made sense to have Sunday Lunch in the local pub. Luckily we had booked ahead as it was very popular. The food was excellent with a good selection of roasts. Vegetables were generous and the hallmark of a good Sunday dinner, the gravy, was excellent. Good value too and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

I took my beloved to The Rock Cross Inn. We enjoyed a sumptuous lasagna and a tasty steak that made the taste buds come to life. The extensive beer selection is great as well as a Gordon’s pink gin for the lady. If you want to impress a lady - don’t hesitate to bring her to this location. Finally, the ‘Rock Rubble’ desert is a unique and delicious crescendo to a final coffee in the comfort of a traditional English pub lounge. Highly recommended pub in a beautifully apt countryside setting.

Visited recently for Sunday lunch. Food was reasonable, service was good. Friendly staff. If you are looking for something tradional, this place is great. Specifically, possibility of having a little of the three roasts which was good as the beef was a little over cooked, lots of cheese in the vegetarian lasagne, breaded mushrooms were from a packet, roast potatoes were great, variety of other vegetables was good and well cooked. Plenty of desserts to choose from, reasonable paced service and lovely quaint decor etc. Would certainly visit again.

We have had two Sunday lunches at Rock Cross Inn and on both occasions we have been very satisfied with the meals. We have had roast beef and pork and both meats were cooked well, crackling with the pork was a mixture of crispy and a little chewy. There is certainly an ample serving of vegetables, 5 different, plus roast potatoes, extra gravy and a Yorkshire pudding served with the meat. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, service is good and it is a nice atmosphere in a lovely rural setting. We would recommend this place for a good hearty meal. Thank you.

Visited on a Sunday evening with family members to celebrate my father-in-law's milestone 85th birthday - it was a bit spontaneous to be honest as we had booked elsewhere but decided not to stay due to the unavailability of promised vegetarian choices and the general unhelpfulness of the restaurant. The pub is a traditional village free house, situated in the heart of Rock .The lounge bar has a raised dining area where a range of local produce is offered; curry night on Wednesdays and steak night on Fridays, along with traditional pub meals at two for £15Despite some initial trepidations, as this was a special celebration, which we wanted to 'go right' we quickly parked up on the large carpark and entered the Rock Cross and were warmly met by a very pleasant and welcoming lady (think she was named Rose). Acquaintances made we were shown to our table for 7 and given menu's to ponder while drinks were ordered - nice Ludlow Brewery ales on offer. The menu had plenty of options for 7 vegetarians - curry, lasagne, spinach & ricotta cannelloni and pizza was the order of the day - all offered with choices of salad / veg / assorted potatoes etc. The staff could not have been more obliging - "you can have whatever you want" - starters served as mains or combinations, just ask". Our meals were being prepared as we chatted, laughed and enjoyed the friendly ambience the pub generated - service was soon upon us and all of our meals were served up piping hot and absolutely spot on to the order, including the few extras we had added later - garlic bread , extra chips ! Portions were large and we heartedly tucked in to a man, frequently commenting how tasty the food was. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't fine dining, moreover good pub grub which hit the spot and was great value for money. The service was genuine, caring and honest - not corporately trained but taking the time and effort to make sure everything was OK. We had earlier sneaked a birthday cake into the kitchen and on cue it was paraded in, candle alight, with the waitresses singing "Happy Birthday" - I think they enjoyed it as much as we did - well done and thank you !So, we couldn't resist partaking of the dessert menu with old favourites like Spotted Dick and Sticky Toffee Pudding with lovely custard available - great for the chaps and more chocolaty options for the girls ! Another round of drinks to wash it all down and we were happy and content and invited to "stay as long as we wanted, no rush to leave" by Rosie. Father-in-law paid the bill - debit/credit cards welcome and we bid our farewells and expressed our gratitude for making what could have been a disastrous evening a pleasant and memorable one.

Having read the reviews on trip advisor we decided to call for Sunday Lunch. It is a country pub with very friendly and helpful staff. We both had starters which were very nice, prawn cocktail with plenty of prawns and garlic mushrooms, well presented and not skimped. For the main we both had beef, yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes and gravy which came plated, the vegetables were served separately and there was an excellent choice, parsnip, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower cheese and boiled potatoes. The nice thing about the visit we were not hurried and had an acceptable time between starters and mains. My only gripe would be the beef was too well cooked for me as I prefer rare beef, but can't please everyone.

This pub was taken over last November by a couple called Sarah and Craig, and is everything you hope your local would be! It used to be a dowdy run with little personality, but now is a bustling successful business. We've eaten there a few times since the take over - and find the food good, service excellent, staff really friendly and nothing is too much trouble! I loved the way the whole kitchen staff came out (following the landlady taking the birthday cake the one of their customers )- all singing 'Happy Birthday" as they presented the cake! :-) This is an authentic village country pub-( not Claridges) - the brasses suit the environment- and I can't for the life of me understand how this stupid person calling themselves 'Mandy P' could leave such an untrue vindictive review. (Closer inspection shows this person leaves negative comments on all reviews!!!). I suggest this person is a jealous competitor. Having travelled the world, stayed at many 5 star hotels (with 5 star prices) - I for one would NOT eat anywhere that lacked in cleanliness or hygiene. I suggest this nasty- minded 'Mandy P ' finds herself a posh pub , with posh sofas snd posh prices to match! My husband States our only negative - and that would be that they get a really strong beer in for him! So congratulations Sarah and Craig - you've given the heart back to this pretty village, and provided a happy venue for your many customers, both old and new!

Not good, on entering the pub we could smell an unpleasant odour, While we waited for our food we counted all the spiders we could see, too many and too many cob webs!Food not great.I'm sorry to say the whole pub was grubby, the mirror behind the bar was dirty along with my fork and hairs on the place mats. Not a good experience and we so wanted it to be good as it is our local and would be great to have somewhere to go at night for tea and a pint.It says it's under new management so lots hope they put things right as this could be a cracking pub, let's see some comfy sofas by the fire and the brasses gone along with the dusty books get the barmaid cleaning when she has nothing else to do. We would love to use your pub more.

The menu is a little on the short side, there is not a massive choice, but there is also a specials board, and the pud choice is large. We all made our meal selections, and ordered a side of garlic to be going on with, the garlic bread was very tasty, but when the large meals arrived, perhaps it had not been wise to have had it. The meals themselves were large, and cooked perfectly, the steaks melted in the mouth, the fish was brill, and the cottage pie great. A group of eight of us ate here on a Saturday night - two of which are locals. The pub was busy but we were quickly served with drinks and seated at our table (best to book, especially at a weekend). The menu is standard pub grub plus home made curries (apparently they have a very good value curry night mid week), but it was well presented and cooked and the staff were very cheerful and polite even in the face of our multiple requests to swap the accompaniments around!Very flavoursome steaks came with delicious garlic mushrooms and a big side salad; those who had the curries praised them highly. Puddings are huge and imaginative - two people could easily share. Good selection of local ales and a wide choice of wines including some high quality house wines. Justifiably popular - quite tucked away but well worth seeking out.
