Roccos Italian Kitchen in Doncaster

Adore this place, food is always amazing.

I decided to book Roccos Italian restaurant while looking for a after wedding meal and 'small party' after dining here a few months before our big day. As you can imagine, this was not a light or easy decision on where to eat after our wedding, and we considered many different locations in close and medium proximity to Roccos. It is difficult to explain how elated I was with the decision to use Roccos as our evening destination for our special day. The team at Rocco’s, under Carly’s expert coordination and Alison’s leadership, ensured a smooth and delightful experience for all wedding guests. The exceptional service provided by Lucy, Ellie, Derby, Alexia, and Sam made the evening unforgettable. My wife and her family are from the US, her family made the point that the food we had on the night was one of the best meals they have ever had, and how much they enjoyed the overall dining experience. The Rocco's team did absolutely everything in their power to accommodate one of the most important days of me and my new wife's lives. And we will be forever grateful. Lewis & Lauren

My husband and I went for our 27th wedding anniversary. We. Hoped that the restaurant would provide an romantic atmosphere. However, it was as not as charming as I had hoped. We had 1 table that had 3 couples who were very loud then another table with 6 young women kackerling and noisy. It was very off putting and not what I came out for a knees up at 6.30pm. The lasagne I had wasn't great which was very bland. Very pricey for just a plate of lasagne with no effort of garnish or a small salad. The tiramisu was full of access cream hardly any base of a soaked coffee or liquor. I've been to better for the price we paid altogether. The service charge should mention if it's descristionary which I would not have paid £12.

Had a meal here recently. Lovely restaurant. Food a bit disappointing. Soup, was like warm milk, didn't agree with me (if you know what I mean), main course of chicken, was average. Not a large portion. I don't know if I would go back. Fantastic setting and restaurant, let down by poor standard of food for the price. 5/10.

Very poor all round, food had been preordered but non of it was brought out together , lasagne was cold, chicken was black inside and out, steak wasn’t cooked to order, poor quality all round, we waited so long for everyone’s meal to come, waited twenty five minutes for a preordered dessert after cancelling it and then saying it will be brought straight out, untrained staff who just stood at the end of the bar, we never received a drinks menu we had to google the drinks then go and ask for someone to take our order twice. Suggestion larger plates for your pizzas or should I say popadoms with toppings too large for the plate so the staff carrying the food holding onto the pizza or plate not hygienic, Nice venue but style over substance you need better chefs and trained waiting on staff. It was my daughters birthday and we where bitterly disappointed.

I had risotto...it was tasty and OK. It was great service...buzzing..and my friends thought their food was excellent. The garlic bread was massive but underwhelming..had to drop a star...but might go again and try something else..worth a try.

Beautiful Italian restaurant. Very special to us as it’s where we had our first meal together, always nice to go back.

Superb......food excellent, staff friendly, polite and attentive

I was there on 18 April 2024 around 13:30 and I found a nice restaurant with good food and two waiters, a girl and a boy. The girl was lost in space...she had no idea what she was serving or what to recommend from the menu. She looked bored and not in the mood for work. The boy had experience and was the right man in the right place. I would also make a small suggestion to the chef who does not know how to decorate desserts except with cheap "chocolate" toppings full of sugar, chemicals and preservatives. I would prefer the unadorned dessert with a natural taste instead of the artificial one because of the shi.. decoration Thanks

Lovely restaurant, we were travelling back to London from The Dales, felt very under dressed! Food was delicious and the service was great. Everyone there is really lovely.

Everyone and everything was excellent, but the atmosphere was only marked down because we were there just after 4pm and was taken into the main restaurant area, which was very nice but we were the only ones there.

We recently had a meal for 14 for our wedding here at Rocco's, and it was worth the wait and the 25minute drive! Some guests had starters some didn't, but all our food came out piping hot and all dishes were absolutely beautiful to look at, and definitely gorgeous to eat! We could not fault anything, the service was fantastic, all the servers were very attentive, and very quick with everyone's meals, and drinks. I myself had mussles in the garlic and white whine, followed by black artisan pasta with king scallops, king prawns, mussles with a prawn butter sauce,...I've never tasted anything like it! Both courses were beautiful! And I ended my meal with the sublime Torta Della Nonna, a lemon and pine nut tart, a must have slice of naughtiness! Please go, you won't be disappointed.... its a little piece of Italian HEAVEN in St.Mary's Court, Tickhill. We will definitely be back....Thankyou! X

Alison N (1 review) Well what can I say about our visit other than it totally ruined Mother’s Day and my sons birthday celebration too The food was diabolical the staff where in experienced and the manager Alison was down right rude and unprofessional! Let me tell you this isn’t the first time and it will definitely be our last We had booked a table 4 until 6pm The table was late which was fine as they where really busy We eventually sat down and we waited and waited after ordering a young chap who was serving our table apologised and said if the food isn’t out within the next 3/4 minutes I will start taking dishes off the bill guess what we waited another half hr when it came it was awful and mine was cold the mussels where tiny and cold and I refused to eat it I was offered another dish which I said no as I didn’t want to wait yet another half hour or maybe more I went to speak to the manager and I told her what the waiter had said about taking food off the bill and she wasn’t having it making out I was a liar so I called him over and he admitted he did say this so she basically told him off in the front of me. Absolutely disgusting service from her and she was really rude to me my daughter stepped in because of how she was speaking to me. And she got on the phone to Alex who owns the place and he advised that we only pay for the drinks and to Barr us Which was I can only say a benefit to us as we will never step a foot in this unwelcoming place ever again!!! Totally ruined Mother’s Day and my sons birthday Disgusting !!! Poor management beyond belief and terrible service and food

Extensive menu with loads of authentic Italian food. Waitress was lovely and great atmosphere. A bit pricey, but lovely for a treat. Go here you won't be disappointed

I think the prices are expensive for what you get and some of the food was very salty.

Food was decent, daughter said burger was 10/10, I had the pizza, nice but needed some more flavour, basil or garlic adding, bit bland, 7/10 wife loved the seafood pasta 10/10, admit was a busy Saturday night but slow service, 50 mins from starters to mains, nice place, sadly got sat next to a group of 4 at the bottom end who kept swearing and very loudly, told the waiter but was only a young lad, said he’d have a word but nothing changed, everyone around was uncomfortable as the girl (called Kirsty as he kept saying F off kirsty) and bloke every other word was F this and F that. They add 10% service charge and don’t point it out, only saw when we got home. Hopefully just a one off and will give it another try.

Food was great, service also good, did have to ask for a couple of things but apart from that it was a very enjoyable experience

Dived in for lunch at short nice whilst visiting a friend in the area. We were limited for time but the staff were super friendly, they went about & beyond and the food was excellent, I was only in Italy the week before and the gnocchi was just as good. Looking forward to going back for a full dinner when next in the area.

We had a work meal tonight at Roccos and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They kindly catered to my requirements which involved cooking with no alcohol - this was much appreciated. Food was 10/10 high quality and highly recommend the Salmon! It’s a lovely family run business and the waiters/waitresses are lovely :)

Really fast professional and welcoming service however the food was awful. The calamari was dry and tasteless, the pasta was too expensive for how little you get. It lacked taste. The pizza was okay. It’s a shame because they’ve nailed the service. The food just wasn’t worth the money

Absolutely fabulous meal. The service exceptional. The atmosphere very good. If your ever over Doncaster way I can highly recommend this restaurant. Very happy. The starter I had was sublime King scallops, belly pork and black pudding. The main equally sublime. Lobster mousse ravioli with baby prawns and green onion in a creamy wine sauce. Tiramisu to finish. Best meal I have had in a long time. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ordered two flat breads off the lunch menu. One came with cucumber which we asked for it to be removed, this wasn't done so we addressed the issue with the waiter who apologised and took it to be sorted. He brought back the flat bread, but when my partner bit in to it the cucumber was still there. When another waitress came to do the check back we informed her that twice we had asked for no cucumber and it was still there. No apologies, she just said she'd tell the manager. She never came back until we grabbed her attention and asked for the bill. When she brought it, she apologized and said the manager had removed the service charge because of the issue. I had to bite my tongue and not laugh at the fact they thought removing an optional service charge was acceptable way of apologising and rectifying an issue. Had this been someone with an allergy, it could have had serious consequences.

We have had many really enjoyable meals here, and it was our anniversary. The staff made us feel very welcome and the food did not disappoint. I would definitely recommend this excellent Italian restaurant. 👌

I have visited on numerous occasions roger and never had a problem although this time wasn’t great. Starters was lovely but when the main course came my beef wasn’t great with slime In the middle putting me off my meal. Raised the issue with the staff and got told it would be taken off the bill only for them to only discount it by 50% because I have eaten some of it. Then sent the waitress instead of the manager dealing with the issues himself who I had originally spoken to.

Worth a visit if you've never been, tucked up a small side street in Tickhill, nice outdoor area, spacious area for pre drinks and a sizable resurant. We all have 3 courses food was to a good standard though the Risotto was pretty average and you needed a good set of teeth to get through the Cannolis. Worked out around £60 a person so up there.

Very disappointed with the two steaks we ordered. They was cooked rare we ordered medium all fat and bone and for £70 for two my sons came out of the restaurant hungry. We went with a very large party and spent a lot of money there.expected better food when you travel a long way staff lovely service good but food not value for money we did complain but nothing in return

I love this place. The food is excellent, and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is ideal and not all crammed together.

Menu change since my last visit, you get a lot less for your money and in my opinion not as tasty as previous menu.

Called to see if they had availability for 2. Asked for card details to book. Told them I was driving so couldn't. I was then told to book online.... I repeated that I was driving but I wanted a table in an hours time. Again told they couldn't without card details. While I was thinking I was told "I'll leave that one with you ok bye" Was going to chance it and show up to see if they had a table, but then thought given the service I got over the phone it probably wouldn't be any better at the restaurant. Shame, looks a nice place.

Great service, really good food and a lovely atmosphere. We turned up yesterday evening after riding 100 miles around Doncaster all day and this was just what we needed to refuel. Highly recommend and hope to be back

Very slow service. Only ordered a calzone, took 90 minutes. No apologies, to add insult we were kept waiting for our bill! Very poor service especially from the rude manager.

Italian restaurant in the village of Tickhill, Doncaster. Large seating space, indoors and outdoors. Public car park just behind which is unbelievably, free. Decent wine collection, good food. Very good atmosphere with enough space between tables to not feel crowded in. Pleasant service. Roccos has much to offer and is certainly worth more than the odd visit. I hope you enjoy your experience as much as we did.

It's a 4.5 really. It's situated in a great spot in Tickhill, the restaurant is done out well and the atmosphere is great. We found the staff very professional and the service on point and very attentive. Overall the food was really good, the antipasti was great, the risotto was loved by all. I have to admit to having had better pizza (although it was a decent pizza), however, I blame the wife as I was going to have the wild boar pasta but she was debating between pizza & risotto so I sacrificed the wild boar for pizza so she could have both...anything for brownie points..... It is slightly pricey and they do add the service charge which while not making much of a difference to me as I always give 10%+ if the experience is good...I always prefer the choice to do so. One thing that I always rate a restaurant on is whether I'd go back. We all said when reading the menu that there was numerous dishes we'd like to try and afterwards said we'll have to come back and try them...but when it's warm, sunny and we can sit outside. Definitely worth a visit....

Expected tastier food than we got, the spaghetti Bolognese was really bland and only served warm. The service was rushed, we were in and out inside the hour! The prices are premium for meals and drink. The rooms were well designed and decorated creating a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately overall our special night was not special at all.

Exceptionally tasty food. Went for the lunchtime light bites so smaller portion but plenty to enjoy. Spaghetti boscaiola was delicious, and others enjoyed their pizzas.

Very disapointed! Went for my my sons birthday 14,4 23 , 2 lasagne was cold in the middle and full of salt , staff said it was all from the same batch , no one else had complained , if batch cooking at least warm it through properly , had 2 people sick from here tonight!

This restaurant is very highly priced for very average food. Portions are on the small side. I would not recommend it.

I was looking forward to eating here with my family but I must say the food was bordering on average... it wasn't stand out that the price would dictate... maybe paying for the Tickhill postcode... drinks pricing leaves a lot to be desired... £6.50 for a pint of lager (we are certainly a long way from London!) and £4 for a glass of coke! One thing I must disagree with is asking for service charge... service charge is a discretion... depending on how good the service is... I would suggest more bar staff, serving the customers instead of making cocktails... I will say the restaurant has is ornately decorated, clean and welcoming... sadly disappointed by the food and pricing...

We had a table booked for 8 for a birthday dinner. Never coming here again!!! Miserly portions for a main!!! And the size of the plate compared to portion was just pathetic. I was hungry after but decided not to order anything else as I should have been nearly full on a PROPER MAIN but it wasn't, just not worth it!!! I needed a microscope to find my food! The food was luke warm!! Actually no one's food was hot!!! The lasagne was also lukewarm and tasted bland. We also ordered the mushroom rissoto....was it a boil in the bag version? No flavour! The waitress was patronising and impatient whilst taking our orders! Stay away from this place.....total rip off and horrible service.

Always feels nice a cosy. No pressure for table back. Food was fantastic, big starter. Reasonable prices for a top quality restaurant.

Had a beautiful meal here. Garlic mushrooms were so tasty. The main of Ragu was also excellent but we both felt the portions were very small compared to other restaurants. We asked for extra bread as the mushroom starter had 2 mushrooms on the plate and two tiny bits of bread. We would recommend but please sir, can we have some more! Service charge added which we don't agree with.

Great restaurant. Lovely place to be sat to enjoy a meal and a few drinks. Staff are very attentive and polite and make the restaurant a very relaxed place to be, and play a very big part in the atmosphere of the restaurant. Look forward to enjoy another meal again.

Went for some lunch for mum's birthday and everything we had was amazing left a little note on booking If could make birthday a little extra special and they did , definitely be returning to try more of the menu 😊

Absolutely lovely, went with the ladies for lunch. The Scottish salmon and king prawn dish was amazing, ooh my goodness my mouth is watering just thinking about it lol The staff were wonderfully polite and held fantastic service. The cocktails were fantastic and very visually pleasing too. Most certainly my new favourite place 😍

Went for some drinks and food with family but this place was average at best. The food was okish but under seasoned and poor quality. My friend had a similar experience here.

First time here for my wife and me. Beautiful interior, superb, friendly staff, spacious seating. The food, particularly the sauces, was gorgeous. Wonderful. Cheffy food but proper quanties. Our pork dishes were very slightly over done but the sauces were exquisite.

Average...all the way. Food, service, drinks. Nothing good here and nothing bad. Its all just ok. Its not a bad cost or good, it's leaning on the expensive for sake of it imho but hey, local place for locals and some importing costs I assume and prices always going up everywhere. They have prints all over the bathroom too which look OK but weirdly they replicate 1 so why not just use less? I had an Italian sausage starter which was perfectly fine and pork medallions main which were late to everyone's meal sadly .the pork wasn't soft like medallions require or hard like it would be sent back...just pork. When it arrived it was just average with a mixed peppercorn sauce but hey. On we go. Fwiw someone had the mussel starter and that sauce was lovely. Maybe i just ordered wrong but both items are apparently family favourites if you believe the menu. Beers are good. Service was indifferent.

Went to sample before booking for a family meal. Was really disappointed after such good reviews. Lovely decor and friendly staff but did not have an Italian feel. We just ordered a main course with small wine. It arrived far too quickly and was quite dry and lacked taste. Also small portions and were charged nearly £50 including a 10% service charge which we were not made aware of. Needless to say we didn't book a family meal.

Autistic review: Don't eat here if you have sensory processing issues. We went at a quiet time, but there was still overwhelmingly loud music (which they turned up more than once) and bright lights hanging low over each table. I'm sure the food is fine, but no.

Service was excellent, food was presented well, super tasty and a huge range on offer. Cocktails were great and a larger selection of drinks. My Burrata salad starter was wonderful and I will be having that again! Our only issue is we were a table of seven and we were sat on a 6 table, I know being an odd number is difficult at times but space on the table was limited - we should have said something while we were there and will next time, this didn't spoil our experience. Great atmosphere and cool on a very hot day. Will definitely be back.

First time visiting roccos and it'll not be the last,beautiful food and a nice relaxed atmosphere didn't feel rushed as often happens in restaurants and the choices on the menu were superb

Went here for an impromptu night out Saturday and have to say extremely impressed. Was greeted by a very confident and personable restaurant manager and was seated outside with a bottle of fiz and advised our table was ready. Wonderful tasty food and drink served in an upbeat restaurant with a good vibe and buzz. Super friendly mature waiting staff always having good conversation and eye contact. Well done guys and really enjoyed our first visit 👏🥂

We visited tonight, and have to say that unfortunately, we were disappointed with the service. We were shown to our table straight away and given menus and ordered drinks. We ordered our starters and these came pretty quickly and were very good. Then we had to wait over an hour for our main courses to arrive. The table next to us came in a while after us, and they got their main courses before us. They were told that the kitchen were short staffed. No one approached us the whole of the time that we were waiting for our main courses. By the time the food arrived, we had lost our appetite. When we settled our bill, the waitress just walked away at the end without saying thank you, good night or hope you've enjoyed your meal. Not a word. It appeared that the waitresses upstairs were trainees and no one in authority was checking on the customers upstairs. This spoilt the night for us unfortunately, which is a shame. Won't be in a rush to go back.
