Ice cream cone was huge & really nice, but was dripping everywhere. My t-shirt, jeans & trainers ended up with a lot on them.

Just a quick stop for freshly made doughnuts by the beach. Excellent service, tasty hot doughnuts and plenty of seats by the cafe and benches nearby along the seafront.

Stopped here for an ice cream yesterday. We have use Robertos before, with a positive experience. What I really like about Robertos is that they are open all year round- not just seasonal. They have a great choice of ice cream flavours and cones and well as other sweet treats. I opted for White Chocolate in a sweet cone, and it was lovely. You are served at a hatch so you can pick one up with ease whilst out walking your dog. Will always return to Robertos!

My husband and I stopped with our dog here for a coffee - two cups for £5. It's a lovely place to sit and people watch and the coffee was good.

My daughter and I have a nut allergy so we ordered our ice creams and noticed they did not have a separate water bowl for the scoops, they just use the same bowl after using all ice creams ( there are a few ice creams that contain nuts). When I asked why they do not have a stricter policy for a life threatening situation, she became quite provocative and said all the ice cream comes from the same machine! They are in tubs?? I found her very dismissive & unhelpful and had to throw the ice cream in the bin. Please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES.

We came across this very last minute and were so glad we walked to it. The ice cream was lovely, with so much flavour choice. There were even vegan options. We also realised how much other food and drinks were on offer too, so we'll definitely be back another time.

Love stopping at Roberto’s for an ice cream or a hot donut on my seafront walks! Delicious and nice drinks too. Reasonably priced and lots of flavours of ice cream, including vegan ones.

Stopped to get ice cream (gelato) with family and friends, I fancied the raspberry but being at the end of the day there wasn't much left and it looked a bit soft and sloppy! I asked the young lady serving if it was sloppy and she said it wasn't, got a cone with Nutella for my daughter which looked lovely( not sloppy) and the raspberry for myself. Paid and went to lick and it was so sloppy and no substance, I asked the young lady if I could change for another different ice cream(gelato) as this was sloppy when she said it wasn't , she replied she couldn't and that gelato is supposed to be sloppy! The young lad also working there said the same and would not change it, every one else's ice cream(gelato) was lovely and firm and I have had gelato all over the world and its never sloppy! So sloppy gelato and not very helpful service so won't be going back, plenty of better ice cream sellers on the seafront!

I discovered Roberto's through social media when I asked where to go for an evening coffee during lockdown. Roberto's came highly recommended and I've not been disappointed. Most evenings, it's open til 9, at the moment it's til 10 which is great for those wanting an evening walk along the seafront. I usually have a freshly cooked doughnut with my coffee. Plenty of tables to sit at, and a great sound track which varies from Sinatra to Motown.

Amazing coffee and probably the best gelato in Southend and seems to be a family run Buissness that’s dedicated to perfection Look forward to my next visit

I wasn’t going to write this review as I appreciate a negative review can really affect a small independent business like this, but after reading the other negative reviews it sounds like my experience wasn’t an isolated incident so the owner/manager needs to take notice. When I walked in there was a sign saying “please wait to be seated” but no one around. I waited a good 5 minutes before a young girl came to the counter and said very condescendingly “oh, just a table for one?” One of the main reasons I had decided to come here was because of a sign out the front advertising milkshakes. I asked what flavours they had but was told “no we only do them in summer.” Okay then. False advertising. I then noticed the specials board which advertised the cake of the day as white chocolate fudge cake. Thinking that sounded great I asked for that. “No we don’t have that” I was told. Okay then. More false advertising. At this point I wanted to say “you know what, I’ll just go then” but I felt awkward so asked what selection of cakes they did have. Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle, apple crumble.... what a basic selection! No carrot cake, no red velvet, and no chocolate. I decided to go for the coffee and walnut. When it came time to pay, I realised I only had about £3 in change but I had my debit card and 2 credit cards on me and clearly wasn’t trying to steal a slice of cake. I thought a slice of cake couldn’t possibly be more than £3 anyway, especially as Maxwell’s Cafe over the road does delicious cakes for £2 a slice. Wrong. £3.50 for a slice of cake. The minimum for card payments is £5, which is understandable. But my god the look the woman gave me when I asked if there’s a cash machine nearby. She made me feel like a criminal! She was so rude and made the situation unbearably awkward. I was standing there with my purse, obviously not trying to dine and dash. I even said to her “look I’ll just pay you £5 for the cake”. I felt so humiliated. I was made to feel absolutely awful from the moment I walked in until the moment I walked out. It’s such a shame as I had been thinking about coming for afternoon tea with friends here but I won’t be stepping foot in here again. Not after being treated like that.
