Unfortunately we didn't receive any warm food later in the afternoon. The cake was excellent, the staff was courteous and the shop was super cute

Roads End Cafe is a lifesaver at this time of the year, we were on the NC500 and fancied a bite to eat when we got to John o Groats. It is such a basic cafe but still serves hot toasties/sandwiches, soup and small cakes/scones. The lady that served us was lovely, so welcoming and willing to go the extra mile, she even recommended the haggis and cheese toastie which I couldn't turn down. Since it was so quiet, it was takeaway only but she let us sit in due to the gale force winds outside. I have to say the toasties are the best I have had in a while and not even that expensive despite the location, absolutely fantastic. It is a little gem if you're looking for something eat when you reach the most northernly point in Scotland!

We were desperately seeking sustanance, and the world's end, clinging to the two apples in our care. Out of the fog came into view, this glorious establishment, and their oft under reported Lentil Soup. Grateful to see, Roads End. You, our saviors be.

Very bad coffee, threw two cups away. No idea about the rest of the food & drink on offer though.

If this was the best of British as described on the blackboard in the picture I'd seriously be concerned by the worst. The vast array of blackboards gives the impression there's a lot to offer which is sadly not the case! A large menu board gives no further clue to what's on offer besides Sandwiches and toasties and it still took a lifetime of finding out what was i side them. We eventually opted for the toasties which gave a little more clue as to the flavours. As a side note if you ask they simply reply " check the menu!" These toasties turned out to be as blandest as blandest could be. This is the last cafe in Scotland and the last time we'll ever visit.

Wasn't the best coffee, hot chocolate was the best though. Indoor seating is very dull and dark, if the weather is good the few benched outdoor would be the best place to sitdown.

Had a couple of toasties and a tea while stopping by for the views. Decent toastie. Just a simple shop with a gift store next door

Nice staff but that is pretty much all I can say. I walked in and have an overwhelming feel of depression. The place is so outdated and dark. When asked do I want take away or to sit in I immediately knew the answer was take away. The coffee was “ok”. If you fancy time travelling to the 1980s for a ok coffee in a dark cafe then this is the place for you!

Visited in Jan 2020. Expecting this place to be a ghost town which it was, still great to visit though. Popped into coffee shop for a chicken sandwich, which is exactly what I got. Seriously unimpressed with the effort that went into making it however... Bland, literally some squashed white bread slices and cold chicken..... Looked terrible, and was bland! Not sure what I was expecting, but this is ridiculous.

We popped in to this quaint little cafe at the beginning of November, the lady was very friendly & very accommodating (we were the large party of 8)! Delicious soups and sandwiches!! My niece, especially enjoyed her rocky road chocolate bar! Highly recommend!

After a cold and windy day of travelling we were so pleased to be so warmly welcomed by the lovely lady at this cafe (I believe her name was Bea?) and delicious hot breakfast. I cannot say enough good things about the service and hospitality of the people both in the shop and in the cafe. Brightened a cloudy day and gave us some tips for our travels. Thanks to Elaine for the tablet recipe too! 😊

Firstly I would say staff were very polite. Unfortunately the breakfast was not available due to the cafe waiting on a delivery. Instead I ordered the bacon roll. After a long wait I received my food which was really very poor. The bacon looked and tasted like it had been reheated and if I was not very hungry I would have sent it back. Very disappointing.

I got told loads before coming to John O'Groats that it was boring, nothing to do and not that interesting... Pish! Absolute nonsense! They obviously weren't served by Rosie at the Roads End Coffee shop and they obviously didn't have their £3.50 breakfast cooked to perfection or an amazing fruit scone. If I didn't live 300 miles away I think I'd be a regular. Thanks for the service 😁

Very nice ladies. If not for them we would not stay. Place is very outdated. Scones were dry... not best. But soup was homemade and delicious. Ladies were only two and were explaining that shorter menu is due to less staff. Very nice people. Good price.

My local bar when I'm in Inverness and although it's not the most glamorous of places, it's got plenty of screens for the sport, a beer garden with play area for kids, a pool table (which is free on Mondays and Tuesdays!) and good craic with the regulars.

Wow. What a wonderful experience we have had at the Glen Mohr hotel! Our trip was a mix of business and leisure, we were a couple of adults and we had a pleasure of using all the facilities, including Waterside restaurant and taproom at the distillery/brewery. The only thing we have not done was the tour of the distillery but we are going to do it next time, when hopefully we will be there on holiday exclusively. I think this hotel is seriously underrated. I cannot understand some of the comments about lack of elevators or small attic windows. This is a complex of historical buildings/town houses and as such it is its charm that it differs from sterile, soulless hotel chains. I visited Glen Mohr few years ago, before the general refurb, and even then, I was totally enchanted by the distinct atmosphere of staying in an old, period town house. Our Room was very clean, spacious, shower had a good pressure (minor snag was that sometimes despite a thermostat temperature would suddenly drop or rise, to certain extend scalding hazard), sofa was very comfortable. TV had access to smart features like streaming services, which is not always available in chain hotels. There was an ironing board, good amount of hangers, drawers to store your possessions and there was also a hair dryer. Tea/coffee making facilities were basic but sufficient. I am impressed with the work that was done on the rooms - that tartan carpet is so soft and lush! I loved it. Bed was comfortable, pillows maybe a bit too hard to my liking. We were upgraded to a “deluxe river view” room without any extra charge. I am not sure what the double one looks like but I was pleased with the size and furnishing of the room as described above. However, I can understand why somebody can be disappointed at “river view”. We were in the attic room in a turret/tower and river view window was tiny. It did not really bother us and we enjoyed romantic ambience but maybe worth considering dropping a “river view” from description so other guests are not disappointed. Hotel was very quiet, we slept really well and felt safe as well. It is a walking distance to city centre and nearby river Ness walks. Big shout out to the staff: reception could not be more helpful and housekeeping kept our room lovely and clean. Heating was also really good. I will give a separate review to the Waterside restaurant and a taproom as they really deserve their own 5/5. I hope your rating will go up soon. We were very pleased with our stay and will definitely stay in Glen Mohr again if visiting Inverness 🙂

Cracking for a roll and coffee breakfast. Visited here a few times now and always decent staff, a nice enough atmosphere and great food which was well priced.
