Went in for a quick take away ice cream for me and the kids. There were 2 young girls behind the counter. 1 person was paying for their sit down meal and a mum and push chair were at the ice cream. Seemed to be struggling with Apple Pay and took an age to serve the ice cream. The other staffer was making coffees. A queue started forming and the mum left. Unfortunately I was ignored and the person who just walked on got served. I walked out and got served instantly next door. Not the first time happened in there. I won’t be back

After I ordered a sausage roll and diet coke, i went to be seated at a table....while I was waiting, I lipread the manager/owner (aged about 50 something) making a comment (or complaining?) to a seemly known couple (customers) about me asking for chips when they don't have it on menu. My table was quite some distance for anyone not to hear it but I could lipread due to being deaf. When I went to pay my bill, a young female worker was helpful in using sign language the price of the bill. Because of the older woman being rude behind my back, I won't be coming back again.

My no.1 stop in ellon for coffee... the lattes are so creamy and flavour is perfect, great pricing too ☕️ Also offer a range of bakes, lots of ice cream flavours (including irn bru !!) and lunches. Service is fast and staff are very friendly, also accept reusable eco coffee cups :) Definitely recommend!

We had breakfast here twice when on holiday. Breakfast is good, home cooking. A cooked breakfast is good value for money. You get plenty of tasty food for a reasonable price. The first time, it was two ladies serving and cooking. They really were a comedy act. They knew all the locals and had a lot of banter with them. The second time, I was two young girls. While there wasn't the same banter with them, they were both really polite and friendly. When you first walk in, you feel like you're in a school canteen but please don't let that put you off. It's definitely worth it.

Visited the Riverview cafe last week. It is in a perfect location across from the river! I had soup and a sandwich for lunch. Both were very tasty and very good value. My friend just had a fancy tea and a very tasty home bake! It is a small cafe so therefore be early if you want a table for lunch! Service was friendly and very efficient. You order at the counter and it is brought to your table. I will definitely go back! It closes at 4.30 p.m. so perfect for breakfast, morning or afternoon coffee or tea and of course lunch!

Right next to where we stayed this little cafe was calling out for us to get coffee and cake. The cake offering was very good with lots of choice and the same with the drinks. Both were delicious - however, the service was so slow due to there being one member of staff trying to manage everything with a queue forming outside and orders coming in on an app. There needs to be more people helping.

Was having a family Christmas lunch there were 4 adults and 2 children, we were welcomed in,all proper procedures were adhered to, server asked about allergies before we ordered great but went down hill fast from there 3 of the adults had carvery we were asked what meats we wanted 2 wanted all 3 1 wanted gammon and turkey that was all we were asked. When the meal came she did not know what was on plate.Potatoes, vegetables etc were already on plate not in dishes to take what you wanted (as we were not asked what we wanted) the food was not even look warm and there were very full plates went back, it was not even asked when the server saw the full plates if there was a problem, as this was a Christmas family lunch and £60 we were very disappointed and would think twice about visiting again.

Stayed here for just 1 night while exploring Balmoral and the local area. Room was lovely with a stunning view over the Loch. Even had time to try the golf which was a nice little course. Found the owners to be nice and friendly. Would stay here again.

Worst chipper I have ever had! Haddock supper and sausage supper for my wife was ordered. We had to throw it out after eating a few mouthfuls. Grease laden and completely tasteless! Same they are so horrible and using the Ashvale branding. The one in town is a much higher standard. I was charged £15 just to throw it in the bin 5 minutes after purchasing. Waste of money and time.
