Had a lovely meal here ..sadly their princing structure needs looking at Overpriced for desserts drinks.When we went there were 6 tables and apart from us no one ordered desserts saying the price.... Only our table ordered a full wine bottle Would I go there probably every six weeks but as it stands every six months They'd probably fill upstairs too Cant fault the food though..we were celebrating a birthday event

Wholesome delicious food and welcoming environment. We’ve been coming for 20 years and the food never disappoints. They probably find it hard to compete with other nearby restaurants as the decor is a bit tired, which is a shame as it’s a lovely restaurant. My teenagers love the food which is amazing as they are very picky eaters and wouldn’t normally eat vegan food. It’s also great for anyone with any special diet as there are lots of choices.

Met up with a mate to have a wander around Kingston. Found this restaurant as we walked south along the Thames path, and thought 'Why no?'. We're both keen to support independents when we can. It was a cold mid-January day outside, but the welcome and service soon warmed us up. Generous portions and promptly served. We will return in the Summer and dine outside looking out onto the Thames.

Distinctly bland, uninspiring food, the only exciting thing was the mushroom pate ... and I doubt they make that themselves!

We visited this established restaurant after researching it for a family occasion celebrating a graduation. 3 out of the 4 of us are vegetarian & vegan. The menu was perfect for us to choose from. Service was excellent very friendly and helpful. Food was great, cooked to order tasty and fresh. The position of this restaurant is beautiful positioned on the riverside. Seating is available outside for warmer days, we will certainly return to experience it. Thank you.

We popped in as it was quiet and overlooked the river. As a lifelong vegetarian it was so nice to be presented with a full menu, including a Christmas menu, of vegetarian food. They also have excellent red house wine.

we had a wonderful lunch ... i chose the nut roast with mushroom sauce and apple cake and hot soya custard ,, everything was vegan and delicious , i also had a vegan mango lassi which was lovely . the service is super friendly and we were able to eat outside overlooking the river even though it was november it was a sun trap ! thank you for looking after us so well !

Food excellent Reasons it is marked down, It is not disability accessible, steep stairs up to the toilet and stairs down to the restaurant. There were 2 of us dining. Younger waiter let us sit at a larger table set for 2. My son being 6ft 4 needed more leg room..I am disabled and needed the space to get in and out of seat. Bossy manager came and ordered us off the table onto a small square table. He was impolite and no pleasantries at all. There were lots of larger tables also set for 2 people. They remained empty for the duration of our meal. A couple came into the restaurant and lo and behold the bossy man, assume he was the manager let them sit where we were moved from. How come? The younger waiter was very polite and accommodating and offered to take our order. Again the rude senior man came, pushed him aside and told him "I am taking the order". Totally undermining his staff in public. When we asked for the bill he stood with his back to us, no eye contact no polite "here is your bill thank you very much" etc. We did not tip. I do not like his unfriendly personality. We are good people. We deserve respect especially as we are at his business. Unlikely to return. It spoilt the atmosphere. I was celebrating or trying to, my sons birthday plus plus his success as he is doing well as a medical research scientist helping to develop the treatment of cancer and save lives. We may be just a customer to him, but my son may save his life one day. Don't be mean to your customers. He started to chat at the end to find out about us but too little too late.

We used to live near Kingston but moved to Eastbourne 12 years ago so weren't able to eat at the Riverside Veggie as often as we used to - and we really missed it. Then on 1 October, we celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary by taking 30 family and friends on a Turks river cruise followed by a meal at the Riverside. It was absolutely great! The food was as excellent as it has always been and everybody, including the young grandchildren, thoroughly enjoyed it. Ritchie and his team made everything seem so easy, we didn't need to worry about anything. Thank you Ritchie and now that our son has moved back to Kingston, see you more often again, I hope.

I was looking for a restaurant with healthy options in Kingston and came across this gem. Service was incredible (thanks Joss) and food equally so. Sit outside of possible because the view is great. Will definitely return to try their other dishes.

Excellent riverside restaurant serving delicious masala dosa!

This restaurant needs completely updating. The place is drab, service crumpy and poor and the fool awful. Didn't feel good when we left and definitely won't go back. It's a great pity because I love to support veggie and vegan places to eat and I admire them for that.

Love, love, love this place! Been coming for however long they've been here... over 20 years and I still travel from Hampshire for their yummy food. Tiny kitchen, but talented chefs that create amazing, tasty, scrumptious food. Large portions, fresh and very tasty. Vegetarian, vegan and wheat/gluten free catered for. Healthy eating, lovely staff, and of course the lovely owner Ritchie. Personally greets us all and treats us like royalty. Want the best Veggie food? Riverside Vegetaria is where you should go!

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at a restaurant with my girlfriend, and I must say, it was utterly disappointing in every aspect. The lasagna, if you could even call it that, resembled nothing more than a sad bowl of soupy mess with an excessive amount of cheese lazily sprinkled on top. It lacked any semblance of flavor or proper texture, leaving us questioning the culinary skills of the chef. To make matters worse, the staff exhibited a level of rudeness that was simply unacceptable. Not only did they completely disregard our comments and suggestions, but they seemed disinterested and dismissive of any feedback we provided. Their lack of professionalism and unwillingness to take customer concerns on board was disheartening, to say the least. The hospitality at this establishment was beyond appalling. Despite making a reservation and clearly expressing our seating preference, they callously refused to accommodate our request. It was evident that customer satisfaction was not a priority for them. Adding insult to injury, the tables were so unstable that they had to be propped up with tissues under their legs, which is a clear testament to the poor maintenance and lack of attention to detail within the premises. Overall, the entire ambiance of the restaurant was tacky and unsightly. From the cheap decor to the worn-out furnishings, it felt like we had stepped into a place where time had forgotten to leave its mark. It was evident that the management cared little for creating an inviting atmosphere for their patrons. In conclusion, I cannot stress enough how deeply disappointed I am with my experience at this restaurant. The food, rude staff, lack of customer consideration, and overall shabby environment left a sour taste in our mouths. I strongly advise others to avoid this place if they seek a pleasant dining experience.

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful. We have been going for many years and have never been disappointed. The food is to die for and all dietary needs are catered for. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

“Organic” food in Kingston!!! If you are after healthy, organic and delicious vegetarian food, you must try this place! I am not vegetarian but love to eat healthy and organic food. I did not know that vegetarian food can be that delicious. It is just next to the river, a little gem in Kingston.

Excelente vegetarian food side to the Thames’s river. The table service was extraordinary. But much better the advices about food choices of the owner. 100% recommended. In addition the price was cheap. Awesome Location!! :)

My favourite restaurant, since 2004!!!

Really bad food, was clearly stale food from a few days. We complained, the waiter just ignored us and even the owner did not bother to attend to us. The seating is dirty, the restaurant has stuff all over the floor and every corner has piles of bags dont know what is inside. Walls are dirty too. Very messy.

We went here last weekend for a nice veggie lunch. My Teriyaki tofu was very nice. However, the owner (?) never smiled and wasn't very attentive, the outside menu still had Christmas holly and Christmas drinks on the menu, and there was lots of crates and bags of food stored everywhere inside the restaurant even outside the toilets. The restaurants next door had long queues waiting for a table but this one was nearly empty! Such a waste of the good food and the great location. It could do with a refurb, new cushions on the chairs (the cushions were so thin they didn't make any difference!!) a fresh lick of paint in bright colours like yellow, or turquoise & pink would make all the difference :) (and for the owner to smile occasionally!)!

Lovely tasty vegetarian food - this independent restaurant fronting the Kingston riverside has been going for 33 years and deservedly so. The waiter was very attentive and helpful and we both enjoyed our meals. The baked fig dessert was really delicious.

Literally never felt so unwelcomed and rushed in a place, except in central london..., crowded terrace, drink was taken away before finished, recept was illegible hand written note...just wow

Hearty vegetarian and vegan and gluten-free and organic riverside restaurant now in its 33rd year, a gem

A delicious evening meal overlooking the Thames. Food felt very fresh and home cooked. Good service, with the waiter reserved to start with but increasingly friendly as the meal progressed and he realised that we were enjoying it! We opted for a shared starter (the Chef's platter) and the dips and the garlic mushrooms and the falafel were excellent. We all enjoyed our different main courses and desserts (the fresh figs in syrup were really special). Thank you. We will come again next time we are in Kingston.

Good food but they’re professional scammers. Added about 20% on top of our bill hoping we didn’t realise (which I didn’t until we left). Wasn’t service charge. They used a calculator to tally up and the receipt doesn’t show the cost per item

Catered for a group of 12. Food arrived quickly. And was fresh hot and delicious Lovely atmosphere outside sitting by rivers edge. Went some years ago and it was good then also. Recommend visiting.

Riverside restaurant, delicious vegetarian, tasty food. I ordered the aubergine dish which came with a generous fresh salad; huge olives for a starter. Great service, reasonably priced. Will definitely return as it is a lovely quiet location just a short walk from the bridge.

The food was very oily and the veggies had a stale taste, we were all sick the next day with severe vomiting. Also seemed the utensils in which the food is being prepared was dirty and not cleaned. The general cleanliness of the restaurant was very poor. When questioned the owners and staff give you dirty looks and treat you rudely. Not sure where this attitude comes from. Its better to have a pre-cooked meal from Tesco.

The "Vegetaria" name is definitely what made me stop. It is always nice to go in to a restaurant and not have to ask if a meal has meat in it or not. Every menu item was available to me . The dining area had good ambience and was intimate. It felt like I was over at somebody's home for a meal.Truly unique. I had the falafel and pita with avocado, Water and the apple/cinnamon cake with ice cream. The portion sizes here were all Goldilocks style: not too big,not too small. The falafel tasted fresh and tender. It is possibly the best falafel I have ever had. The cake tasted delicious and better than I was expecting. I was expecting a standard generic restaurant cake. This seemed hand crafted.Additionally, the vanilla ice cream on top was even better! It was so creamy and full of flavour and texture. This was no generic ice cream either. I had a chance to talk with RIchie,the owner.He is a true Gentleman and loves the community he serves. I can tell there's a real connection there. In Summary, Check this place out for a unique dining experience.I hope to go back again.

The food was stale and the dosa's were soggy. The owners and staff were rude. Did not think anything was wrong with the food. Hygiene was poor too with roaches seen near the kitchen. This place is a health hazard.

I've never thought the vegetarian food can be so creative.

This is a small restaurant that could quickly get full and overwhelmed with orders. It wasn't too busy when I arrived and I had the Chefs Platter which was a sample selection of starter dishes. The food was nice and a variety of choices for everyone who is willing to not eat meat for a meal.

I almost never write a review nevermind a one star one. But I was facinated by how poor the service and product were. With all jokes and sacarasm aside Mac Donalnds has better quality and service.

Really nice small vegetarian/vegan place. We went there during a hot day so it will be quick warm inside but food was excellent. You have a nice view from the terrace.

The food here is fantastic. Highly recommend sitting on the terrace at the back if you can - watching the world go by and all the boats on the river as the sun sets. Great choice of vegetarian meals - the mushrooms are sublime. Really enjoyed our meals here and looking forward to next time.

Very tasty and lots of options for vegan, veggie and gluten/other intolerants. Homemade and authentic feel to the place. We will be going back to try other dishes. Right by the river and the open doors give the room an al fresco feel.

The food at Riverside is always beautiful, they do a fab range of vegan and vegetarian options as well as free-from! We have eaten in and ordered on Deliveroo and never been disappointed. The service was attentive and friendly and the food is delicious. Have enjoyed the lasagne, mushroom & courgette bake, risotto, cashew nut & spinach curry - the list goes on. So many healthy and tasty options, couldn't recommend more.

Seems like a lovely riverside spot. I will never eat here again, even if it was free. Food was overcooked slop. It was one of the worst meals I've ever paid for. Service was terrible, there were three tables in use outside by the river. The two staff were chatting. After 10 mins of trying to get their attention I went in to the (empty) restaurant to order drinks. When the drinks were delivered the (older male) waiter had quite obviously not washed his hands for some time. The toilets were not maintained well and had no soap available and no hand drying facility. The old electric hand dryer was not working and there were no paper towels as substitute. This strongly suggests that staff habitually aren't washing their hands after using the toilet. It brings me no pleasure writing this review but I will never eat here again, even if it was free.

I reserved a table. Waited 15 minutes to be seated. Customer service was extremely poor. The drinks were warm. the food obviously microwaved, was cold in the middle. At no point did anyone return to ask if the food was satisfactory. It was cold, tasteless and there was no sight of any salt or pepper to give it any taste. Extremely disappointed in the whole overall service.

Lovely little spot to enjoy a beautifully made, healthy meal. Perfect on a rainy day or a sunny afternoon, beautiful view of the river 💜

Good vegan options overlooking river Thames

A true gem. Very tasty dishes which satisfy, service was also very good. Outside seating as well as inside.

In these tough times for the restaurant trade, thank goodness gems like this survive: a veggie legend offering quirky charm and good value, not to mention unrivalled riverside dining, including a minuscule towpath terrace (with welcoming water bowl for four-legged visitors). The menu suggests that a well-travelled, cosmopolitan and imaginative non-carnivore has entertained themselves by compiling a hit list of their favourite global ingredients and cooking styles, then mixed them all together as fancy dictates. Influences from Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and most of all the Indian subcontinent, but with intriguing twists - stirfry fettuccine? Red lentil and avocado kedgeree? All veggie/vegan friendly, packed with flavour and with an excellent organic wine list to match. We’ll need 12 visits to try everything that tempted us but I’m afraid I’ll be boring where starters are concerned: I loved the Corn and Vegetable Cakes with Plum Sauce too much to go for anything else. Ingredients are locally-sourced and you can taste the freshness, and portions are generous. We couldn’t manage a pud though the choices were tempting; just settled for two excellent hot chocolates to ward off the April evening chill as the sun went down. Service is laidback to the point of horizontal, but with a twinkle in the eye and mordant humour that we appreciated as much as the good food. A delightful dining experience and we’ll be back soon.

Arrived with great expectations having had family visit before. Menu looked good, location too. On arriving we sat outside, the waiter asked if we wanted drinks and we asked for 5mins to look at the menu. Once seven minutes had passed, we asked the waiter "please can we order drinks now?" His response in a curt tone was "he asked for 5 minutes". The waiter was rude in tone and hugely dismissive which given the restaurant, location and reviews was unexpected. I then said "well yes but we are ready now". Before that we asked some questions about the menu, specifically asking what smoothies were available. He gave us one blunt response "I have mango" with nothing further, despite the menu promising a range. Another group arrived after us and got an entirely different level of service which we could hear clearly. It was really upsetting to be spoken to so badly by a staff member at a restaurant that prides itself on good review. We had 1 drink and left. It is unlikely we'll return.

We've tried two different dishes plus soup of the day. We couldn't decide which one was better. Simply delicious. We ordered dessert as well. ;) Strongly recommend this place. Riverside view was stunning and owner was extremely nice and friendly. We will definitely come back

The food was good and hot. However the table was sticky and the waiter surly. The menu is a little stuck in the past with a salad once served by nana.

I was having a swell time with my lovely couple Stephan and my dog. I forgot to bring his food and ordered bread for him instead. After having a lovely dinner, when ordering the bill the waiter asked if I always give him bread, and offensively remarked, after him having brought the bread earlier, that bread wasn’t good for him, although it clearly is. Way to go dude, just when we got in the perfect mood after a long week at work.

This place could turn me vegetarian! The food is so so good - Potato, Cashew Nut and Spinach Stew and the Courgette, Mushroom and Lentil Bake are HIGHLY recommended. The staff are absolutely lovely and their spot on the river is beautiful. Would absolutely recommend to anyone, veggie or not! Added bonus is the wonderful wine list!

If you are looking for home cooked vegan/veggie food, yearn for more varied and inspired choices and favour taste over fancy decor, this is the place for you. Relaxing riverside location, indoor and outdoor seating with easy parking right opposite, this hidden gem has a homely/quirky feel with a refreshingly unique menu. Large selection of dishes, from all sorts of international cuisines. African, Indian, Italian, Greek... you name it. Perhaps they would do better to focus on one style! The food is distinctly average. No finesse; just cobbled together cheap ingredients which I might give to my kids on a post-work Tuesday. Nothing terrible (except the desserts) but nothing particularly great, either. The desserts are truly awful - e.g. bought in crap fudge cake or an almond and apricot cake that was so stale, dry and tasteless, I couldn't eat it. Top all this off with wine at £30 quid ish a bottle; you're talking £100 ish for a three course meal for two. The stairs and loos look like they've not been refurbed for at least 25 years. Don't think we'll return. They should sell up to The Cheeky Pea, who sell much nicer vegan/vegetarian food in Kingston town centre, for a fraction of the cost.

I’ll keep this brief - this is still one of the best vegetarian restaurants there is. Fantastic menu, and the owner and staff are excellent. One of my highest recommendations. Don’t hesitate - you’ll return time and time again.

My favourite place to eat. Has been there over 30 years and they still have some of the original staff. Food does not disappoint.
