The golf range is a fantastic facility for the area. Unfortunately it looks a mess. The driveway approach is adjacent to the golf range. The netting is falling down, full of holes and patches & looks appalling. The whole track is overgrown. Once inside the car park, you are faced with the scruffiest marquee... Which I'm sure was once white but is now green. There are weeds everywhere and ashtrays overflowing with fag butts. The decking area's out on the golf range are full of holes and dangerous. The whole area looks unkempt and uninviting. The restaurant area is decent and clean. The staff are well mannered and competent. Overall... The facility, whilst busy, needs money spending on it. To be honest, it is an eyesore.

What a lovely relaxed lunch Went for a Sunday lunch with the children and two adults One vegetarian Lovely staff very friendly Choice of where to sit Loved the old School gravy jugs being filled by huge jug And always offering more of this and top up on veg if required which was not needed as very generous portions Will be back

Wonderful staff and fantastic food. Highly recommended. Prices are very affordable and good value for money. Hope to be going there again soon

Attended for an evening meal with a large group of friends. The meal was one of the best I’ve had for many years and the waiting staff were first class. There is ample parking and it’s near the slip road of the A 465 which is a main feeder road onto the M4 which is close by

Went here with my family,thought we would combine golf and food,its a bit of a shambles at the moment,all the ceiling is stained due to the flood they had,food was only ok,not cheap either for what we had,we were all disapointed,no uniform which looks awful,lady i assume was the owner was sitting down most of the time to chat,other staff working hard,i know its family run but it should be better than this ,i noticed the owner didnt wash her hands while preparing food,no go that is for me,especially while dealing with raw eggs,then plating up salad,sorry but im surprised nobody has been ill yet,wont be going again which is a shame as it is good for the golf side of it.

Tonna's best-kept secret? Very pleasantly surprised by the range and quality of the buffet put out two weeks ago for a funeral wake. Staff friendly and helpful, even supplying us with 'doggy bags' for the leftovers. The Golf Range is at the end of a longish riverside lane, but don't be put off. The effort is well worth while!

Have been here a few times now and each time had a lovely meal. The staff are welcoming and helpful and the food Hot and tasty without a long wait. Reasonably priced, so what more can you ask for.

Went here for the first time in a while with my Children for Sunday lunch . Lovely staff very friendly and fab with The children Good portion size , three meat options and vegetarian option available and fab veggie gravy which is rare to find when I have dinner out Desserts range from brownies which are a big hit with the children and traditional apple crumble and custard Lovely relaxed setting and the bucket of balls for the golf range for £4 was a great bit of fun for the children Very reasonable will be back

Attended a wedding evening party . They had run out of beer by 6.30 . Were then charging £3 for a can of warm lager which they had bought from the local shop . Very poor

Sunday lunch not good cold no taste , was so disappointed and the glasses for drinks were dirty, and the woman with long nails shouting at staff unprofessional

We’ve just had a party for my son’s 8th birthday at Riverside. The 12 kids had a great time on the golf driving range, and really enjoyed the food. The staff were awesome and really went the extra mile to help. We’ll definitely be coming back!

I went with my friends and their children rainging in age from 6-15 years old. We had booked and were accomated with a good view of the large screen . Food orders taken promptly , good selection of home cooked meals. With a child’s meal includes bucket of balls for the driving range , great activity for he children ! Food was mainly prompt but had to wait for one or two dishes ! Lovely staff very friendly and the family that run it are very nice They also offered our youngest to play in a spare area if they wanted so they didn’t get bored :)

We visited the Riverside for a baby shower recently and the whole experience was a negative one. We were a large party and the baby shower had been booked well in advance. When I arrived with my three babies, I quickly noticed that the ramp was filled with damaged goods/furniture from a recent flood, making it inaccessible for my pram. After carrying my triple pram up the steps, I then asked the staff to open the second door as my pram was too wide to fit. I was told that this door did not open so had to disassemble my pram to enter the building. These accessibility problems are inexcusable- what if a member of the party was in a wheelchair? The saga continued as I asked for high chairs to seat the babies... of course these were damaged in the recent flood and there were none available for me or anyone else to use. The food was below average, I could have made better at home. If this was just a golf range, I would not be complaining. However, this is a venue that claims to provide 'quality events, dining experience and service' and there was nothing quality about it. This place should not have reopened to the public following the flood if they did not have the facilities to cater for all customers.

Went with family and had a standard meal - they offer quite a few deep fried foods. When I asked what red wine they did, I was only offered Merlot - not impressed there wasn’t a selection for me to choose from. The owner is friendly and always welcoming

Firstly, we were waiting 40 minutes for food to arrive. This is not what you hope for when you go for lunch with your work colleagues. Since we were waiting for so long we hoped at least food will be tasty but it was such a disappointment especially for the prices they charge. Fish and chips was greasy and did not taste fresh at all, chips tasted like they were reheated and fish like it was ready made frozen one. One of my colleagues had gammon which was very thinly cut and very dry, my other colleague had a salad with chicken but what she got was a dry chicken and a bit of vegetable. I would never serve such 'salad' in a half decent restaurant. Half of the ingredients was missing including croutons, when queried we got deep fried pieces of bread. When we complained to the waitress in the end we were told that she does not work there very often and usually she is in the office. I guess she should spend more time with the customers to know how poor food and service are.

Attended my sister's 30th birthday party, and had a hog roast with a great selection of food. The staff were very friendly, accommodating, and attentive to the needs of the guests. Big shout out to Curtis and Harriet who were fantastic behind the bar. The venue was decorated beautifully and more than catered for the number of guests. Would 100% recommend this venue to others. An incredible night, thank you so much for making the night so memorable.

My partner and I decided to get married at Riverside. It was within budget, a nice size venue for a small wedding. The staff were really friendly. We spoke with Jo and had a quote etc we then decided to go over and meet her look round the venue etc. And if we liked it we were going to pay our deposit. Which we did. We sat down with Jo and went over every aspect of the wedding. Or so I thought. We paid our deposit (had a lovely breakfast) and left to contact the registry office. Prehaps o should have done that first. Because Riverside do not (though they may have finally sorted it) have a valid wedding license. So we were not able to book a registrar. Now it may not of been a problem as we were booking a year in advance, but I was informed by the registry office that Riverside weren't renewing it. So in effect we had paid for a service they knew they couldn't provide. If we'd of been told that when we had met to pay the deposit, we would have waited til they had the license and then paid it. But there was no mention of it. At all. Until I contacted Jo to tell her. In hindsight I should of checked with the registry office before we paid the deposit We waited a further 3 weeks to see if they renewed it. Rung the registry office twice a week to see if they had even received the forms. Again to be told they didn't think Riverside were renewing. Finally we asked for our deposit back. They tried to tell us they had weddings booked so if we would just hold tight we could get it sorted. But we didn't think that was acceptable. We would have been paying them monthly on the off chance they would renew it. The owner stopped replying to my messages except to say we could have a refund. But wouldn't commit to a day and said it needed to be in cash (payment was in cash as they don't do bank transfers or anything like that. Thank goodness I asked for a receipt). I was very close to going to a small claims court because noone was answering my calls or messages (we tried from different numbers and none got answered so I don't think they were just avoiding me). I sent my friend to collect the cash basically because I couldn't face the confrontation I knew was coming. It's a shame because it's a nice venue and up until I asked to be refunded, the staff were lovely too. I hope that anyone who has booked a wedding there double checks it's still valid because without a license there can't be a wedding. Other than that, the breakfast was lovely and the mug of tea was beautiful.

Had a birthday party here this weekend. Staff were great and very accommodating. The food was fab and plenty of it- we had a pulled pork buffet and it was lovely. If you're looking for a venue for a small function this place is great.

We attended an evening function at this venue. We paid for the hire of the hall, only to discover that the people using the golf range used the hall to get to & from their cars.

Lovely meal and great service. Phoned last minute and were fitted in immediately. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Well, where do I start? I'm so amazed at some of the comments on here, which was why we booked for Sunday Lunch, sounded good, we've tried and enjoyed many, many Sunday lunches in the area so thought we'd give this one a go, a big mistake.

No puedo criticar el Riverside. Restaurante familiar donde todo el mundo se siente agradable bienvenida. Sirve carne, pollo, pescado, sobresaliente, Curry, Bolitas de patatas fritas caseras, etc, con un estilo que siempre son buenas. Si estás buscando comida sin tonterías ordenadas o quiere reservar una zona privada para una ocasión familiar en un entorno informal, no puedes equivocarte. Siempre personal agradable. Hemos comido aquí varias veces después de chocar unos pelotas en la gama. La comida está bien y sin precio, y las patatas fritas son especialmente bonitas.

Muy tierna y sabrosa carne preparada por James. Servicio amable y eficiente de George. Es sencillo comida británica. Un entorno cómodo, pero no lujosas. Me había ganado un "almuerzo de domingo para dos" en una rifa benéfica y ordinariamente no reciente hubiera visitado el Riverside por comida (incluso sabiendo que no sirve! ).

Hi guys, got to tell you about this place, a friend of mine recommended it for the outstanding food so thought why not give it a try.my sister tried to book the restaurant for mothers day however they were full. after me phoning and begging to get in they put an extra table up for 6 people. we are so glad they did.the welcome we received was lovely, despite it being very busy at 12pm the staff still had time to be polite, professional and willing to please.the place was well decorated for mothers day with lovely clean table cloths and red romantic covers on the chairs. Riverside was buzzing with happy content customers.The food was lovely with most of us having beef which there was plenty of, lovely.new potatoes, carrots and other seasonal vegetables, all hot and delicious.slashings of gravy, if you wanted more of anything it was no trouble at all.the worthington bitter was worth the little wait, a perfect pint.after dinner we sat outside on one of the benches right by the river. to listen to the water running bye is so relaxing.

Called in there for a lunchtime bite to eat. The menu had many choices - I went for the home made pie and chips, which was tastyThe place was spotless and the service was friendly.Will go again

Absolutely wonderful friendly staff and service. All the staff were so helpful and attentive. The afternoon tea had a great selection of sandwiches and cakes which were all very tasty! We were served two stands of sandwiches and cakes between 5 people at £9.95 per person and there was so much we couldn't eat it all! The staff even offered to make us other sandwiches if there was something we wanted but the selection was lovely we did not require anything else.Teabags and coffee were provided on the table and the waitresses kept the milk and hot water topped up. All the staff took time to speak to us and check if there was anything we needed, and we even got a visit from santa. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, we will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

40 of us members had our second year Xmas Party here,we are all wrong side of 50. First off, was the xmas atmosphere and decor it was outstanding they made us feel in the Xmas spirit, the tables were tastefully decorated with crackers etc, the 3- course dinner was delicious and served by efficient and very pleasant waitresses,the courses were served hot [ apart from ice cream ] and plentyful. The entertainment was was supplied by ourselves or you could book your own. This venue is ideal for maybe 50 to 80 people ? Our night ended with Father Xmas bringing gifts for everyone. Overall this restaurant gets 5 stars from everone who attended tonight, and we will be back definitely. Lots of thanks go to Barbara Lewis for organising the whole night

It was very nicely decorated,staff friendly.Starter excellent,main was out of this world,beef that melted in your mouth,with flavour.My only criticism was my dessert,Brownies and Icecream,was that the brownie had,nt been defrosted and warmed in micro,probably an error on the kitchen.But other than that,it was a very nice meal.

Went for a friend's baby shower & the place itself looked nice, we had a room to ourselves with a doors leading out to seated area on decking & with it being a nice day added to a lovely ambience.The afternoon tea we had I'm sorry was shocking! It was £9.95 each & there was over 25 of us, on our table in particular we were 10 people but only had 4 stands between us but considering the price it should have been I stand between 2....the selection was also poor with ham, salmon & egg, all with packet bread, plain white or brown...the cakes were dry & again quite plain & the scones were tiny like if you join your finger & thumb into a circle they were that size & dry...no choice of tea just teabags & coffee on the table with a sort of catering canister of hot water with a tap to pour yourself.Overall lacked taste & finess. Would not return.

We called there on Wednesday 17th August 2016 and must say what a total disaster..... We ordered food nothing to difficult child's sausage and chips and two portions of Ham salad sandwiches with hot drinks. The food took well over an hour to arrive and when it arrived all wrong very disappointed, I even had to ask twice where our order was. The premises as not overly busy either. There was also a strong over powering smell of greasy food what you'd expect in a truckers cafe. A family of three even walked out after waiting over 15 mins to view a menu ! As I said very disappointing - Shame really.

Would not recommend the food here+ nothing on draught. The place smelt like a greasy spoon café-avoid the coffee if one requires any taste to it!

Came here for my grampas 80th birthday over the weekend, and everything was perfect Staff were obviously busy, as there was a wedding and a 21st birthday there the same time. Despite this, they were attentive and never left us wanting for anything. So friendly and looked after all 18 of us, cant fault them! The food was absolutley stunning. As there was so many of ius, we ordered pretty much everything on the menu. There wasnt a single complaint - everything was beautiful, and everyone ate until they were fit to burst. The cheese boards brought out were HUGE - one could have probably fed all of us, but there was a great selection, and even brought some home (the cat loves the cranberry cheese). The only comment i have is that portions are huge (which isnt nessicarily a bad thing). Honestly would like to thank everyone for making the night such a special one. Everyone worked their socks off, and it was noticed! Thank you! Would highly reccomend this place

After having food here on a number of occasions we decided to book here for our sons 21st birthday meal. We was a party of 30. On our arrival we firstly noticed there was a wedding taking place, then upon entering we also noticed an 80th birthday party was also taken place here the same night and our party had been seated on 3 different tables all separated from each other this was our first problem of the night but means as it was a special occasion we all managed to be be seated and was looking forward to the food, as we had all pre- ordered before hand we started to relax sum meals started to arrive at the tables, then disaster happened there was some eating, some not eating on each table wrong meals being brought to the tables, waiters and waitresses all running round frantically, side orders being brought out with no mains to go with them, this went on for some time before we addressed whom we believe to be the owner he apologised and offered to put out some wine as a sorry for the mix up, ok we thought and continued to wait for the missing meals...another half hour later still people missing meals and no sign of this wine we was offered our group started to get annoyed as most who had received meals had finished or complained that meals were terrible, after complaining again we decided to tell them to cancel the rest of our order and as we didn't even want the rest. Our party was ruined, the owner had no explanation for what had happened, his reply to us was could we return on Tuesday. We didn't even get to light the cake and sing happy birthday after all the family getting together. We will never return. The place was a complete shambles they had clearly taken on to much that night.

Well wen`t here for my daughters 21st birthday,,a bit of a mix up with orders first,,my food came out the mixed grill, of which i had only a few weeks earlier and was very nice, on this occasion i have to say it was terrible, cheap over cooked sausages the thinnest piece of gammon again like crispy bacon,,steak didn`t taste like steak and the chips,,,i mean how can you cock chips up for crying out loud!!! 2 mixed grills in our party and both very unhappy!! kids enjoyed the golf bar staff were lovely but cooking skills zero i`m afraid,, sorry guys!!

The quality of food outweighs the setting. The setting isn't the best as it's not a designated restaurant, but the food quality is excellent & I will certainly visit again sometime. Very friendly staff, with great character & attentiveness.Home cooked food with 'Mum' sized portions!!

Came to a wedding here three weeks ago. Nice enough place although it's a marquee in a carpark, the river is well out of sight! Food was ok for soak up food, pork roll with the usual buffet type accompaniments. I was however really surprised when I heard the price, £18 a head, I would expect higher quality food for that, it was 'pulled pork' which meant pork cooked enough to be stringy and put in a roll with some apple sauce. Also there was only two beer pumps provided which for a part of over 200 meant long queues, they did provide another one eventually but some forethought on numbers and requirements before would good for a wedding venue.I have been to far better venues for the money, especially considering how much they make on the bar you would expect top quality food for that price. However we had a great day!

On March 5th ,had a Twmpath at Riverside Golf Range to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary,Many thanks to Andrew,his Family and excellent Team to make it a memorable occassion. The food ,ambiance and staff were brilliant,eventhough they were busy with other functions we had excellent service.The band Rough edge were also outstanding and we would highly recommend this venue and the band for any party.Mant thanks Andrew and his team yet again.Diolch o Galon.

Rushed to get out. About 10 chips on the plate as they ran out of potatoes..Come here sometimes and atmosphere so different.. Only a couple of staff make effort and make a difference to atmosphere..Sunday evening with the young guy and other young girl is best (the girl with plaits)..

Visited with friends for our annual Christmas get together.The meal was very good but feel that the surroundings are more cafe than restaurant. Although the prices are restaurant standard.Wouldn't be in a hurry to return.

A fantastic time was had by all!! Myself and 18 friends/children had lunch with Santa in the most beautifully decorated marquee, santa took his time to talk to each and every child, told them a story, then gave them a gift. I have never been to a place where lunch was included for parents too! Usually businesses rip off the parents at christmas time, but we all had a lovely turkey roll with salad and crisps. What an absolute bargain!!!! We were there over 2 hours, with a decorate your own biscuit and colouring competition for all the children. This is the best Santa event I have been too! See you again next December!! Happy new year to you all at Riverside. We will b a back for lunch I have no doubt

Had a cheese and ham toastie here last week and it was delicious. Would have given 5 stars but for the fact that my lime and soda was dead flat! The toastie, though, was gorgeous. Could see as well that the chips they serve are the real thing and looked absolutely yummy.

When I saw this had two 'terrible' reviews I wondered why. Simply because there is a wide variety of food which is delicious, lovely staff and a very nice view on the rare nice days Wales gets. There are good offers for the Golf for the children as well as meals and the sunday lunch is beautiful.

We booked last minute and they were able to fit us in. Very busy restaurant with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Lovely food and excellent service from the friendly staff.

We come here about once a month food is very good Andrew + his staff are brilliant now and again we have a knockabout (golf) then have a meal and a drink definite recommendation

I first visited the golf range to hit a few golf balls with a mate of mine but as they do a lot of great deals...kids eat free with every basket of balls purchased etc...I thought I'd try the food.It is good old fashioned homemade fair...homemade corned beef pie & chips type of thing but it is very well cooked and very reasonable.Since our first visit we have been a few times to the Sunday lunch - booking is advised as they get busy...why do they get busy? Because the Sunday lunch is excellent!Set next to a river in a very peaceful location it is a nice place to have a quiet drink.

Called in on the off chance on a Friday night. Good choice of food on the menu (normal pub grub type food) service was friendly and good. Lovely home cooked chips with the meal. Prices are very reasonable. Overall a pleasant visit :-)

I quite frequently come here with my family to have Sunday Lunch and to meet up with friends. I've never had a poor meal here, the service is always polite and wonderful - it feels very comfortable. It has a wonderful sense of atmosphere.

We had lunch there as a family the day after Boxing Day & I was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming interior on such a cold, damp day. There was a cosy fire, great atmosphere & table decorations. It all looked very festive. We all ordered different items off the menu from steak & gammon to sausages, fish & lasagna. My husband hates frozen chips which are served so often these days but the chips at the Riverside were wonderful & freshly cooked. There was a childrens menu & choice of desserts. On Christmas Day, there is a roast Turkey lunch which includes four courses.

I can only agree with Samii H. Like you we were recommended to go here, now either this place has off days or someone is recommending when they certainly shouldn't. We were sat overlooking the golf range, and don't be fooled by the photograph, there wasn't a tablecloth in sight!!! In fact we didn't even have a serviette!!! My husband ordered the gammon and when it came it was like a piece of thick cut bacon. I had the burger in a bun, it was so tasteless even with ketchup on it. I have had better at a roadside van. Where we were sat I felt as if we were in a passageway.

I was searching for the Riverside golf range on here to leave a lovely review, and was shocked by the terrible review below.I find it very hard to believe any of what that review says. I'm a regular customer at the riverside and am absolutely appalled by that review below. I believe in giving credit where credit is due! My every visit to the Riverside has been a pleasant one. On busy days or quiet days, the staff at the Riverside can never do enough for their customers, it is CLEAR to see that they put their customers first. As for the portions of food, it's each to their own, but my family and I are always very satisfied with the amount of food we are given and also, the quality is second to none! Understandably, it must've been quite inconvenient to be mixed up with another table but I do not think the Riverside deserve to be slated that way because of one or two mistakes.I recommend anyone to go there; superb food, wonderful venue, friendly and welcoming staff, and excellent menu choice, what more do you want?Well done to the Riverside!

How anyone can leave a half decent review of this joke of a restaurant absolutely flabbergasted me!!! We were told to go here as it was excellent (I now know that my advisor is a mentalist!!!) I honestly don't know where to begin with my complaint but here goes!! Service?? Insaneley bad, I actually was waiting for Jeremy beadle to turn up!!! Even though it was quiet and after being offered everybody else in the "restaurants' food because the waitresses were 'mixing up table numbers up" we were presented with our food!, which consisted of 2 child's meals and 2 adults though they may as well been 4 child's !! Tiny amount of beef 1 tour even of mixed veg and 8 potatoes for four people!!! After finishing this tiny meal, numerous waitresses passed our table ( it was quiet) with no intention of clearing in readiness for second course!! We decided to leave and asked for our bill....next joke!! I was presented with a bill that was half mine and half the table next to me!!!! AMAZING!!!! So to sum up? Service GARBAGE, food not to bad tasting but amount GARBAGE!! Oh and before I forget, even though they had just opened. Ladies toilets had no toilet tissue( thank the good lord we have a young child so come equipped with wet wipes!) my advice to anyone thinking of visiting this nightmare?? Don't do it to yourself!!!!! apparently it's a wedding venue too?? Hate to think how much of a mess they could make of some poor unfortunates big day!!!! Stick to being a golf range and stop pretending to be something you definitely are not!!!!

On sat 13th of Sept had a Twmpath at Riverside Range,it was held in the marque.Thanks to Andrew and his staff the evening was a great success.All guests were impressed with the hot buffet,the excellent service and venue,the children and teenagers even played golf which they enjoyed.This place is a must for parties and even at any time.

great, went with my son, my friend and her son. They loved the golf and you get it cheaper if you eat. We had a natter, a coffee and could watch them enjoying. Ordered food, it was lovely and discounted if you played golf. Bargain day out, both boys and mums enjoyed. Can't wait to go again when the weathers nicer
