Riverside Cafe in Slough

Never had a problem with the food before , but this morning I was served breakfast with a bit of green / blue mould on the slice of fried bread . When I notified a staff member they didn’t say anything , just took it away and ordered a new one from the kitchen . I felt like I had insulted them or something 🙄 . And as a side note - the lady with the glasses who takes the orders at the counter habitually mixes up / forgets what a customer has ordered . When you have time this isn’t a problem but when you are there on a schedule it becomes frustrating

Ridiculously expensive to park a truck now! £30 for (16hrs) £3 off your Dinner so with discount a extra £8 to pay So total £38 paid Then they charge you for a shower £1.50 So £39.50 it's robbery! Cheaper at a .motorway services!! And you get 24h parking at the motorway services! . THE FOOD Gone down hill rubber vegetables fatty meat ! . I have been going to this greasy spoon cafe for 20 years car park used to be full !! its empty at virtually at 17:00hrs . I won't be back £39.50 16hr in a run down greasy spoon no thanks.

Been eating here now every night for about 2 mouth, can't fault it in anyway. But after an uncalled for smart remark from a member of staff I will never darken its doors again.

After some days in an expensive hotel near Heathrow, this place was a wonderful find. Following a superb traditional comfort-food English breakfast, we returned for dinner and again for breakfast the following day. It is more than reasonably priced, has excellent unfussy food, delightful and friendly staff and is spotlessly clean. Forget the hotels and try this traditional transport cafe.

This place is an atrocious, rutted out muck hole for parking, but the cafe is very good. Large menu of fresh cooked simple cafe foods which is very well cooked by very friendly and helpful staff - all credit to them.

I search out traditional transport cafes all over the UK, travelling from Scotland to Cornwall - and The Riverside by Heathrow is the best breakfast anywhere. We go there often when we're passing Heathrow on the M25. Just love the little roasted spuds! Well worth the 5-minutes off the M25. However, it's a real shame there isn't more of these places around. I hate cold, slow, expensive McDonalds!

This is a real good old fashioned transport cafe providing a great service to the Heathrow area lorry drivers and any customer needing a good hearty meal at really good prices. Friendly obliging staff serve a great variety of meals (try the roast dinner for breakfast). Well done with the COVID measures as well. This cafe provides a great star to any day.

Decent cafe, home cooked food, breakfast, lunch ect at fair prices, clean with friendly staff. Muddy potholed yard for parking, mainly used by drivers of lorries ect, showers and available overnight parking.

Expensive bar and only 2 armchairs had a view of the river. The Colnbrook drainage ditch. They out huge back chairs against the windows that completely block the view. Anyway, peaceful and quiet but not cheap but staff lovely and friendly and very attentive.

I love coming to this transport cafe, it makes all welcome lorry drivers, coach drivers, private hire drivers, even black cab drivers and the food is excellent

Stayed here and want to say how friendly and helpful the staff were. Food was great with a good choice on the menu. I will definitely be here again when in the area

I’m based in Slough, and this cafe is situated on the Colnbrook by-pass, ideal for access to the M4,M25 motorways. Also excellent for access to Heathrow Airport. The service from all of the staff is second to none, friendly efficient professional. I’ve always found the food, from the assortment of breakfasts, to the daily specials, and also burgers etc, good value and tasty. Toilet facilities excellent with showers if parking up for the night. Can’t fault this establishment and thoroughly recommend. 👍

This is a roadside transport cafe. Frequented by people working, or travelling past it. Good food. Good prices, clean and friendly staff. It’s not a place to stop with small children for lunch. A very large car park is available. I liked it.

A good clean place to eat, this is a typical old style transport cafe plenty of parking friendly staff clean facilities, don’t be fooled by the name you wouldn’t want to sit by the brook to eat your food. This cafe could do with some heating always cold and damp inside but wear a jumper and enjoy the food, but don’t take to long because your food will be cold due to the temperature inside the place.

Easy stop off, lots of parking great beef and vegetable pie, this is more of a truckers stop but better food than the rubbish you get in most services and more affordable pie, chips, veg and gravy £6.25.

This is kind of drivers coffee shop , popped in there for food , food was good, huge car park even lorries parks there. Staff is nice too , clean toilets the only issue is the sitting area. Sitting style was terribly decorated and you have to sit with other people. Still recommend

To call this the riverside was a bit of an overstatement. The river appears as an overgrown stream in a ditch. This is a transport cafe with a huge car park to accommodate lorries etc. When we arrived there were a number of taxi drivers, always a good sign.The cafe was very clean and tidy and the men's loos were huge with a shower area for the long distance drivers. All well presented.Customers could look through to the kitchen which appeared immaculate.The only things I did not like were the fixed, institutional table and chair units in gory pink.The staff were pleasant and helpful. There was a wide selection of breakfasts of the usual type which were OK but not memorable. One slice of toast seems a little frugal

Siempre me detengo en la orilla del río cuando puedo. La comida, el servicio y los precios son excelentes - puedo tener una cena asado por alrededor de £6. 10. Soy un chofer de limusina y estar aquí, en mi traje en vez de equipo de conductor de camiones no califica una segunda vez. Recomiendo completamente todo acerca de este lugar.

En primer lugar el lugar no aspecto especialmente atractivo desde el exterior - gran estacionamiento con un montón de camiones, coches. No te desanimes, la razón por la que hay tantos camiones y coches está la comida es excelente.

Christmas lunch is served every day at the Riverside from the beginning of December. It has all the trimmings and is excellent value at only £7. The café has been festooned in Christmas decorations and has a distinct family feel to it! Its a must try for a great Christmas dinner.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat and was really impressed by the quality of the food. Could definitely tell the place recently had new painting and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely be back soon! The blonde behind the counter was very polite and kind. Overall we had a very delicious breakfast!

A great find! Delicious homemade food, a huge menu (but leave room for the cakes!) & with an amazing price. Staff are so friendly & give a warm welcome - it feels like home from home. Love this place!

Dropped passengers of at Heathrow so with time in hand before my next job stopped here to have a big breakfast (but not their biggest)

Having spent 10 days in a five star resort in Mauritius sampling some fantastic food I was craving home made steak and mushroom pie roast potatoes cabbage and peas!Always busy and always hot!!! ( and that's just the staff!) Seriously the food is worth the 12 hour flight home!

Wow, where to start - whenever I am in the area, this is my go to place. Great, honest food, the service is first class and I just keep returning. Can't recommend this place highly enough. The breakfasts are superb. If you are reading this and you haven't been, change this ASAP! Wallis, the owner, in particular is fantastic - very attentive and always has a smile.

I've been coming here for more than 20 years and it never dissapoints. The breakfast is tremendous and they make proper tea in a teapot.Evening meals are proper English fare. Pork chop, toad in the hole amongst others and my favourite, home made steak & kidney pie made by Elaine, with boiled potatoes, cabbage, peas and lashings of gravy. Better than my mum could have made.

I love this cafe! The atmosphere is relaxed and all the staff are friendly and always have a smile on their faces! The breakfast is always very tasty and fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys delicious British dishes! Can't wait till my next visit!

As an owner of a nearby catering firm that supplies many of the local airlines I always have my breakfast here , it's consistent great value and quality are marvellous not to mention the cheeky smiles from the lovely girls that brighten up my day, and that's free .

This is a property old style caf with good food and half decent coffee. Not the cheapest in the area but the good is fresh and good quality. Highly recommended!

As a birthday treat, we started the day with a fry-up here. It was delicious and very reasonably priced. I haven't had fried bread in years and it was just as good as I remembered. Really fresh ingredients and well-cooked by lovely, friendly staff. Not just a place for truckers, everyone's welcome!

The Riverside Cafe is the best place to visit for a top notch breakfast - I am always on the hunt for a place where the eggs are perfectly cooked and I have found it! The atmosphere is great, mostly due to the warm and friendly staff and excellent service. I would definitely recommend a visit!

When ever I visit the riverside cafe I'm always welcomed with a friendly welcome and great service, the food always tastes great from a sandwich to home made dinners. It's always kept very clean and easy to park. They've just decorated it and it looks amazing!

The title says it all - The Riverside Cafe consistently provides great quality food and ALWAYS with a smile. They have plentiful overnight parking and the place is kept spotless - they've also just repainted the inside which looks great. The breakfasts are amazing and I strongly recommend the steak pie!I'm lucky to have a proper cafe nearby!

Every time I am in the area, I find the time to stop by the Riverside Cafe - the service is always very friendly and the owner goes out of her way to make each and every customer feel right at home! They have modernized the place with a lick of paint and some other adjustments recently which has really brightened the place up - it looks great! My favourite is their fit for a king all day breakfast which always hits the spot. If you love an English home cooked meal with great company then this is the place for you!

If Heineken ran cafes they would style it on this one! Very friendly, organised,great food and caters for all tastes. Refreshes the parts other cafes cannot reach! Well done girls!

Located just off the A4 about 2 miles from Heathrow Terminal 5 the outside doesn't look promising but it offers much, much better food and service than a motorway service station. The breakfasts are brilliant and the other food looks good too. Also... hot puddings every day with custard or ice cream. What's not to like? Stuff fine dining, this is what food is really about.

We work at heathrow and go to the riverside at least once a week. Its not just a greasy spoon offering breakfasts, they have a good selection of sandwiches, jack potato's, cater to vegetarians and their lunchtime options include a large number of salads, pies, quiches etc.

We opted for the Bed & Breakfast package as that worked out more beneficial for us with the hotel, due to the package being a buffet service. Breakfast was lovely & there is something for everyone (eggs, beans, bacon-veg & pork, sausages, toast, cereal, oats, greek yoghurt, fruits) the list is endless. The atmosphere in the restaurant was calm & not too busy. Nothing was too much & the selections of tea's, coffee's & juices went down a treat too.

I say that with a large tongue in my cheek as I actually like the Riverside Truckstop. It throws back to an original 1970s cafe, I guess that the only real thing that's changed are the newer vehicles in the truck park. Without too many other options in the area, It's handy for west London and just a mile or so from Heathrow airport and M25/M4 junction.Turning into this facility you're met with a parking area rougher than the Bay of Biscay in a force 10 gale but when I've visited there has always been plenty of parking space. The current overnight parking charge is £15 with a £3 voucher towards an evening meal. Guys, just a short stroll away is a gentlemans club so you're also guaranteed to get lucky if you're overnighting ..... and if you can afford it ..... Ladies, well there's always the other truckers!!I have always been lucky enough to be served by the same member of staff, a mature lady who clearly works very hard and runs a tight ship but one thing that you're guaranteed is 'service without a smile'. When she is not serving she is clearing & wiping down tables. Even considering the state of the car park, the floor inside is kept incredibly clean. In fact everything is clean, the servery, the kitchen, the toilets. The staff here care and it shows.Having plenty of time to spare to sit and people watch I did start to notice a couple of issues and I have noticed this on a few visits now which should be addressed and are easily addressed. Considering cross contamination, one of the members of staff does spend a bit of time wiping their nose, coughing and spluttering, blowing their nose, handling coins and then moving food on customers plates with their bare fingers to make room to accommodate other breakfast items. Plates are often only partly served, by this I mean the plate is brought close to the customer but rather than place the food down on the table the customer has to either partly get out of their chair and reach out or turn around awkwardly to take the plate. It almost looks like they're making a point as it would only take one more moment to place it on the table and never with a smile ..... a tactic commonly used by my partner!Other reviews point out that it isn't cheap here and it's not but then it is London. What could be better is serving quality ingredients and quality table sauces, they don't cost a lot more & taste so much nicer than the cheap 'cash & carry's' own bulk catering alternatives hence the 'average' rating otherwise I'd vote 'very good'.With all that said, it is swings and roundabouts, I do enjoy visiting Riverside & they do provide a much needed service.

The food is fresh and cooked on the premises by friendly staff. Lots of variety to choose from with daily specials. Breakfast number 2 and a cup of tea is my favourite. Plenty of parking space and an easy location to get to. Even if this was not the case I'd still go there because the food is excellent.

We had pre-dinner drinks in the River Bar - The bar tender really knew his drinks and proved to be a real mixologist :)The bar also does meals which are equally highly recommended.

Doesn't look much from the outside, but walk in side and it's like a time warps, old style greesy spoon cafe at its finest, staff are cheeky and friendly, food is amazing and comes in big portions, it's also really cheap for the amount you get, will defo return in the near future.

This is a good cafe - service is quick and friendly, great cup of tea and eggs etc. prepared fresh while the mushrooms, beans and so on are all ready in a hot servery. What you'd expect from a good roadside cafe at a good price too!

Its like stepping back in time. Once upon a time all English cafes were like this. They do home cooked food. They are organised so nobody has to wait. It is constantly busy and the food is excellent!

OK, its a transport cfae but if you want good value and a great wholesome meal this is a great place and with great value! Lots of truckers and taxi drivers but it has free parking and is just 3 miles along the A4 from LHR terminals. Great #3 breakfast!!

What a friendly welcome! We were just looking for somewhere to "lurk" before collecting our daughter from a flight arriving at Heathrow Terminal 5. What a surprise. We only had drinks (tea and coffee) but both were better than you get in some hotels and the toilets were pristine. I just wish that we had had time for something to eat because the food looked delicious. I will certainly be making a return visit (or should that be visits?).

Don't just think of this place as a transport cafe! Located close to Heathrow on the A4 - Colnbrook By-pass - about 10 minutes from the entrance to central Heathrow and about 5 minutes from Terminal 5. Food is freshly cooked by friendly staff. Food quality is excellent. Cafe is spotlessly clean (including the food preparation areas). Full meals costs GBP 4-6. Tea and coffee are less than GBP 1 (Try getting those prices in any Heathrow terminal)! Car park has mud and pot holes BUT private cars park within 10 metres of the cafe entrance. It is an excellent place to eat either before/after dropping someone or before/after meeting someone at Heathrow. No need to pay expensive restaurant prices at Heathrow whilst at the same time rakking high car park charges at Heathrow Car Parks! Car park at the cafe is FREE.

I've been coming here for a couple of years now and I've never been disappointed.The food is great, and despite the title of my review, far better than an average 'greasy spoon'!The staff are friendly, chatty and cheeky and the atmosphere relaxed and informal with suits sat with lorry drivers in harmony.

I often visit this superb "truck stop" cafe when I'm picking up or dropping off at Heathrow. Mcdonalds is cheaper, sure, but this is WAY better! It is a 5 minute drive from Heathrow, and, unlike Mcdonalds, there are no ANPR CCTV cameras in the car park that will fine you if you stay over an hour! I often have a fair few hours to kill in between jobs, and this place is ideal for that. What I particularly like is that they have a bookshelf full of books, and you pay a donation for whatever book you like. Yesterday I started reading Faceless Killers by Henning Mankell, and it was so good I had to buy it! All the proceeds go to charity so it's well worth it. The staff here are friendly and welcoming, and the food is excellent. The menu is extensive, and you can order pretty much what you like assuming they have the ingredients! Yesterday I ordered Breakfast 1 which is a fried slice, sausage, bacon, fried egg and beans. I paid extra for a 2nd fried slice plus a cup of tea. The grand total was £5.45 which I think is reasonable for a good quality breakfast. People should note that this is a truck stop cafe, and not some fancy, expensive restaurant. I am always in a suit and tie, but I have no problem sitting with the friendly (often tired and grubby) truckers and workers who know a good breakfast when they see one. If you are a snob, go elsewhere. I never feel out of place because I am not a snob - I have never felt unwelcome here, probably because I like to chat to working people like myself. After all, I only wear a suit because I'm working! This place is a hidden gem, and I highly recommend it.

Been here a few times and the food is good but not the cheapest and but if you are in a lorry you don't have much choice around Heathrow. Food is good and the atmosphere is typical transport cafe

Lovely food and very friendly atmosphere nothing is to difficult if your coming to Heathrow to collect or drop off well worth the visit

When collecting somebody from Heathrow an ideal place to stop for breakfast whilst waiting for them to arrive.Basically a Truck stop with tea in large mugs, good well presented reasonably priced food and always a warm welcome The café is well used by lorry drivers, chauffeurs and families with food to suit all tastes and gets you within 5 minutes of the airport with ample parking so just a quick hop to the terminals once the baggage has been claimed with no need to park in the expensive airport car parks or the inevitable driving round in circles to avoid getting moved on.

I have been using the Riverside for years. As a chauffeur it is just perfectly placed for Heathrow and in fact Gatwick trips for me and being open so early in the morning is perfect also. So when I took my wife to London one day I naturally headed for the Riverside on my way up to town. My wife looked extremely doubtful as we pulled in amongst all the trucks in the car park. But suffice to say she absolutely loved it and frequently now suggests we call in for breakfast. This place is just wonderful. A choice of the best breakfasts you could wish for, cooked freshly before your eyes, a cracking mug of tea, all at an unbelievably reasonable price. And cheerful staff as a bonus. The place is immaculate including the toilets. Parking is outside the door. An if you're in a rush you can be in and out in 20 mins. It's between the Heathrow junction and junction 5 on the M4 so you go off at one and back on at the other. Beats the hell out of motorway services in every way. You'll not get a better breakfast anywhere I promise you. I can't wait for my next visit. See you there. You'll love it. Colin P. Tetbury Glos.

I've visited this establishment on two occasions now & have to say that the Riverside Cafe deserves 10 of out 10.Not only do you get friendly welcome, but food is freshly prepared & comes in excellently sized portions. No chance of going hungry here, that's for sure.Highly recommend the breakfasts, but equally I'd eat there at any time of day & be more than happy.I'd not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone.Well done to everyone at the Riverside Cafe.

This is a café that sells good wholesome home cooked food good portions and plenty on the menu to choose from. Always a cheerful welcome here
