Riverside Bar & Grill in North Ayrshire

Enjoyed 2 days meals here. No complaints about the food as it was well presented and delicious. Chef was very helpful with my allergies.

Had dinner here as part of a voucher which included 3 courses and a glass of fizz and I was impressed by the choice of options for each course. The whole meal was fantastic. For starters we had the haggis and chicken with black pudding, both were lovely, as was the steak and sausage pie with mash and veg. The desserts were good and even the fizz was nice and not the cheap tasting stuff you'd expect on a deal. Staff were friendly.

We had an itison voucher for a 3 course dinner at the riverside, we have been many times before and always look forward to visiting as the food is always good but things have changed.The main thing is that service is so so slow, we were in the restaurant for 2 hrs 45 mins which is ridiculous and we had to keep reminding them about our drinks.They are also cutting corners with the food as we were given a cheap slice of bread with the soup and small scoops of ice cream with no decoration or sauce and you dont get fries with any main meal unless you buy as a side and you dont get ice cream with any of the desserts. We ordered the cajun chicken but it tastied like curry sauce not cajun sauce.I dont think we will be rushing back as meals are filled with veg to fill the plates out and the ice cream didn't taste anything like the flavours we had asked for.Definitely gone downhill since our last visit!

We stayed 20th & 21st October and had 2 breakfasts and 1 evening meal . The food was excellent, breakfast was buffet style, fresh plentiful and quickly replenished Evening meal was also excellent food, staff were friendly helpful and professional. Highly recommend

Very friendly place to go for a meal.Staff are so friendly and the manager was keeping the young ones upto scratch with everything.Also very clean and tables also getting cleaned when someone leaves love that place for a nice meal

Sunday 25th JulyWe enjoyed a very pleasant meal here today.My granddaughter has a dairy and soya allergy which I notified the restaurant of when I booked the table. On arrival at the restaurant the waiting staff were aware of this and were able to advise what food she could eat.Very impressed.All workers we encountered were very professional and we had a lovely evening.The only problem was that for suite the only thing my granddaughter could have was sorbet. Sadly there was some confusion as we were told that there was none left by some staff and that there was by others. When our suites arrived she was sat there with no pudding ☹️ after a conversation with the waiting staff lo and behold sorbet was found.Although annoying this was dealt with very well by the workers and it all worked Out well. Very surprised when all the suites were deducted from the bill.The sign of great service is how things are dealt with when things go wrong. Riverside dealt with the problem in a superb way.Great food, great service, lovely surroundings.Particularly impressed with how pre notified allergies were acknowledged and suggestions madeWell done guys, would recommend

This is such a lovely venue but the service lets it down. I have been on 3 different occasions now and nothing has improved. There doesn't appear to be anyone managing the restaurant. There is no warm welcome upon arrival. You feel that nobody is allocated to your table for service. Everything is ad hoq. On the last visit this month, the starters arrived before our drinks. We weren't given all available menus. We were surrounded by tables littered with dirty dishes. We had no condiments on our table. We sat right up the the back in a booth and felt forgotten about as there was nobody around to ask for an additional drinks order. If this hotel wants to attract weddings then they need to step it up. It feels like the staff are untrained and have no set structure about how to provide good service. Highly disappointing. On a positive note the steak pie was delicious but unfortunately the fish that my daughter had was full of large bones.

Layout and decor lovely. Service slow and sporadic. We sat in a booth and no one was circulating so didn’t clear the table and we had to ask for our second course. In terms of Covid hygiene they need to up their game. There was one table we saw with three different parties using it and no one moved glasses or cleaned the tables in between customers. We did enjoy the food although had to ask for side plates for our shared tapas. We would come back but would ensure we cleaned our table before we sat down and be prepared to have a long leisurely meal. Drinks were fab- best French Martini in ages. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Some of the staff are a wee bit short on customer service training but overall a good night out.

They have recently started doing takeaways which is a great idea. We had to book early as it was very popular and you are given a set time to collect. It was very well organised and staff are lovely. The only thing i wasnt happy with, was the chicken tempera batter was very soggy, it had been sweating inside the polystyrene container. They should have used the aluminium trays like the chinese takeaways and there was no salad or sweet chilli sauce with it, so not worth the money but the rest of the meals were great. Nice to have something different at this difficult time!

had voucher from son and daughter in law. went today and shown to table. lots of other dinners at the time, but not too busy. drinks order taken quickly. ordered starter and main s starter was great a change to have something hot. main was good the 6 Oz Korean burger was ok as a suggestion less carmalised onions couldn't taste the burger. another gripe, when drinks and glasses are empty remove from the table,especially when mains and desert is put on the table. would have given more points but that part let you down.

Came with friends for dinner ! Sat at bar until table was ready ! Had been a wedding party and Emory used glasses every where ! Menu lots of choices not many for vegetarians ! But reasonable choice ! Staff could have been more pleasant ! Asked 3 time for water for the table ! When meal came was nice reasonable portions ! Sweets good choice as long as you like strawberries ! Lovely decor ! Would I come back ! No ! Plenty more restaurants in Irvine ! X

Fantastic overnight stay. Food was delicious there was a big choice on the menu. The staff were friendly ,professional and helpful. Great value for money. Modern fresh clean setting. Bedrooms a good size too. Will definitely to back.

I was treated to lunch here today by my friend to celebrate my birthday, food was well cooked and presented well,staff friendly and helpful especially Margaret whose attention to detail made sure we had the correct cutlery for our desert (long spoon for eton mess) will certainly be back

Decided to try this place for lunch as had never been. We arrived around 10 past 12 and sat at a table in view of the bar where 2 members of staff were. The place was empty. Nobody acknowledged us and we sat for another 10 minutes before my daughter went over and asked if they served food. The waitress said ehhh, is it after 12? My daughter said yes it’s nearly half past. She replied, well yes then and carried on putting cups on top of the coffee machine. We sat for several more minutes before we put our coats on and left. On the way out I spoke to a member of staff who was appalled that no one had served us or even offered us a menu. She offered to get us a table and ensure someone served us but we declined. Never again!

We were on a deal for over nite stay food was nice service poor on the drinks side but food fine for the price we paid

We have been here 5 times this year, the hotel is beautiful and food/service is fantastic. Highly recommend!

The breakfasts here are lovely and varied so something for everyone we also had an evening meal which was piping hot attractively served by lovely staff in a nice atmosphere.

Food was really lovely and nice modern restaurant. Only issue was the length of time we waited for drinks. Was around 20 mins for our second order as the bar was very busy. Nice though so will return. Glad Irvine has another decent restaurant.

The food we had was well presented and served and was absolutely fantastic. Would recommend this eaterie to anybody.

Staff and food where amazing. Can not complain at all. They all made my husband and I welcome. I would go back again in a heart beat

Visited here today which was my 3rd time in 4 months. Used an itison voucher again which was great value as we got 3 courses and tea/coffee for £9 each. Service was great and very quick and good was tasty. Highly recommend visiting here as the hotel has been transformed with the new rennivations!

Stayed at this hotel and enjoyed two breakfasts and two dinners in this restaurant. Dinners were superb, from scallops and goats cheese salad one night to wonderful sirloin steaks the next. Could not fault anything.

I was a guest at the hotel and had dinner in the evening. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and crème brûlée. They were delicious. The presentation was perfect and the service was very friendly. I'm glad I had the opportunity to stay here. I don't know if my travels will ever bring me back to this area, but if I do get a chance to return, I will remember the Riverside Lodge and its restaurant.

The dinner and breakfast in the hotel are great for quality & quantity. The bar is well stocked and keenly priced.

Lunch after a lovely walk today restuarant catered for 28 of us - nice to see water on tables for our arrival. Food was good though slow to appear and just one member of staff serving though she coped admirably with all of us . Triple deck sandwiches very filling . Lovely ambience and decor through out restuarant areas.

It has been over 10 years since i was last in this hotel but it has been totally transformed. The decor is beautiful, such a difference from the way it used to be.

We had afternoon tea instead of lunch. Service dreadful. No menus on tables. I am allergic to chicken. Asked about sandwiches. Waitress checked with chef and we agreed cheese and bacon and tomato. Not what came. Scones came without butter which we had to ask for. A selection of stodgy cakes which we never ate. I said when I paid bill that a few nice cakes would have been preferable. Staff said they would tell chef. No apology. An expensive tea and mediocre sandwich and scone for over £20 for 2. Don't bother. I won't be back to an establishment which has been refurbished nicely. You need to get your food in order and staff need to be more pleasant.

Agree with previous post. Xmas dinner at Riverside Lodge was a total rip off - hang your heads in shame! A lovely Xmas treat ruined for so many people in that huge bare room - food and service terrible.
