The owners of this restaurant should clearly mention the dine in timings and take away timings. This restaurant closes for dine in 2 hours prior to the actual restaurant closing time. Yesterday (Friday) we saw that the restaurant is opened until 11 PM and we reached between 9:15 to 9:30 PM. But they didn’t allow us to dine in inspite of requesting them to have food. We were really hungry and felt really bad to take away and eat on the benches of high street. Also they neither gave the disposable spoons to have the food outside for which I had to run to nearby Tesco and get some spoons to eat food. If anyone reading my review planning to visit this restaurant for dine in then do not visit post 9 PM. I don’t have any complaints on the food quality. They gave a complimentary naan bread probably to pacify us. Will never visit this place again.

We had a take away delivered by Sammy himself. I had chicken shaslik and my husband had chicken biryani and a bhaji. They were so delicious,the shaslik had at least 2 chicken breasts and was smokey and tasty The biryani was moist and the sauce flavourful and tangy. It was a huge triumph..well done to Sammy and all at River Spice

Visited River Spice last night with a couple of friends as part of our continuous tour of Indian restaurants in the local area, and we were really impressed. Excellent food, a very clean modern dining area, but most of all the service was probably the best we've received in quite some time. Very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The only thing I would say, which is more funny than a serious complaint, was our plates and such were cleared up very quickly, before I'd finished my naan, and I was just left holding it. We perhaps needed 5 minutes more for a truly relaxed experience, but like I say, not a huge issue. Fully recommended.

We had such a lovely time here for our evening date night. It felt like a special meal as the food was amazing, service was high quality and the atmosphere was relaxed. I cannot wait to go again to try more from the menu.

Tad quiet but it was a Sunday. Food was excellent and service really attentive... Not obvious what was on offer for vegetarians but the waiter tailored a popular dish on the menu to suit.

Had our 1st visit here on Saturday evening. The food was really nice. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere was good. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

A family favourite for around 20 years, it's so good we keep coming back. Sami and team look after all their diners very well. Whilst at the higher price end of things, the quality of the food is worth the treat. Our tastes range from the mildly spicy to a madras level of spice and we each get what suits us. Plenty of variety on the menu. Were looking forward to introducing the fourth generation of our family to River Spice when they're a little older than junior school.

Delicious food and wonderful, friendly service. A very busy Saturday night, but everything came quickly. Our favourite takeaway is now a new favourite local restaurant.

We went to River Spice for the first time on Friday and are extremely happy with our choice. Onion bhaji were the best I have ever eaten and the main courses were very nice indeed and good portions as well. The food is well presented and the service is excellent. Definitely our first choice for Indian food.

This is the best Indian restaurant. Staff brilliant, friendly. The food is delicious 😋. My granddaughter loves eating here because they remember your names. We met friends we haven't seen for ages in there. So we are going to meet them again at the river spice.

Have been here several times previously and been happy with service and food. However on Friday night 5 January, we arrived and had to wait for a pre-booked table. They were very busy but after a large party of approximately 15 people had left (within half an hour of arriving), we still had to wait to place our orders and ended up waving to attract the staff's attention. By this time the restraurant was not at all busy. We ordered 3 x chicken pasandas and 1 x prawn surprise, but when the meals arrived after quite a long wait, there were 3 chicken madras instead of the pasandas. So everything had to go back for replacement. The pasandas were OK but the prawn surprise was surprisingly bland and tasteless & we told the waiter. He went and told the chef. We had trouble attracting the attention of the waiters each time we wanted something and they forgot a drink order and the glass smelt of chemicals. We felt very disappointed with the service, the mix up of the food and that no discount was given for a poor meal. When we got the bill 8 popadoms were £1 each and the miniscule sauces were £1.50 each. A real rip off. We won't be back there again.

Found this on line whilst looking for an Indian Restaurant in the Fareham area. What an excellent find. Food was excellent all cooked to perfection with great flavours and taste. Staff friendly and made you feel welcomed to the restaurant. Best Indian we have had in a long time. Will definitely visit again if in this area.

Staff are always incredibly welcoming and friendly. Restaurant is modern, spotless and well presented. Food is flavorful, fresh and IMHO, the best to be had around these parts. Now a firm favourite - definitely recommend!

Food was disappointing in so much as, we had a Bhona and a special dish both of which tasted identical, dominated by a sweet fine chopped onion base, with little or no heat, would class as mild rather than medium. Staff exceptionally polite verging on obsequious.

Portchester Villages best secret - the food here is always delicious, without swimming in oils, colours that other establishments seem to serve. The venue is always pristine too. We ate in (as usual) but you can get takeaway too. Staff always vvv polite, and helpful.
