Muy por debajo del estándar. Mala organización. ¡El viaje en autobús reservado para 4 noches tenía malas opciones de menú para 36 pasajeros de una edad promedio de 70+! El desayuno estaba bien, pero el servicio era lento y desorganizado.

Cenamos aquí muy bien. Tenía la hamburguesa en panecillo, patatas fritas cortadas, mi marido tenía el servicio de pastel de ale bueno.

Todas las comidas tomadas aquí fueron excelentes. Los desayunos eran encantadores, con mucha variedad y el personal era servicial. La cena fue excepcional.

No puedo criticar a este excelente restaurante, aunque el servicio fue un poco lento debido a muchos huéspedes. El menú era excelente y había una muy buena selección de vinos.

Breakfast was included in my price for the weekend stay. Cooked and continental. Good service. Nice food and they don't mind adjusting the menu according to your preference.

Because our first visit this year to the Castle Inn was a Bank Holiday weekend, we were disappointed not to be able to eat in the hotel restaurant. We need not have been so as the choice of food and service in the bar were excellent

We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary whilst staying at the hotel. We had a lovely meal and evening in the restaurant to celebrate. Food,service and staff were all excellent. Would definitely return.

Great food and friendly service. Booked a table after reading previous reviews and we were not disappointed. Although it was a quiet early mid-week booking and the restaurant was quiet the surroundings were relaxing and we were made to feel at ease and valued. Our food was excellent and cooked as requested, only downside they ran out of salmon. Well worth a visit.

Friendly hotel and reasonable restaurant. Food was good and well presented. Wine list was rather pricey.

Very good staff and a really good menu with attentive service and a dog friendly area too. Good selection of beers and ales and the sort of place which is good to go back to more than once - I think we managed 3 or 4 times in a week.

Excellent cadre sympa , le gigot d'agneau avec ses petits légumes croquants a point avec la sauce a la menthe un vrai regal , vous n'aurez pas envie de part de pudding apres ce plat car c'est bon et copieux

We decided to eat in when we stopped at the hotel and have a more expensive meal than we would usually choose. Negatives first - the Creme Brulee was liquid under the crust - really strange. The place had next to no atmosphere due to being almost deserted and it felt a little like the place was not really trying as it was quiet. Positives - most of the food we chose was excellent. We have Haddock with pea etc and Wood Pigeon Breast to start. Both were really nice (pigeon a little tougher than I have had before but excellent flavour). This we followed with Mint Crushed Lamb, with Pea Puree etc. Excellent. We were not asked how we would like the lamb cooked but whilst it was slightly more done than I would have elected for it had great flavour. All presentation was very nice (see pictures) and the only menu malfunction was the rather strange liquid dessert (as mentioned already). Nice touches included the canapes and hot fresh bread rolls. A decent, cheap bottle of wine with a step mark up (supermarket £7.50 here £19) but very drinkable. All in all a nice meal and I feel I am being a bit picky but can't honestly give it the full 5 stars.

Superb menu, reads like Masterchef and comes up with the goods, beautiful presentation, locally sourced food

Average food, acceptable service but good breakfast, don't expect 5 star but issues with bill and charges just not acceptable in 2017

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday Lunch for Mothering Sunday. Nice relaxed restaurant, attentive service and beautiful surroundings.

Had a lovely meal restaurant was quiet but everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal staff friendly and helpfull

Este es el lugar para ir si te gusta la nouvelle cuisine en un restaurante cómodo y con buen gusto y el servicio atento. Nuestras cenas eran muy bien preparada, aunque podrían haber sido más caliente, y presentada en el plato con el arte, el cuidado y la imaginación. Se les veía, y sabía, muy agradable y tanto mi esposa como yo pensamos que mientras la calidad de nuestras comidas era muy buena, la cantidad era escasa y no es una buena relación calidad-precio. Ritson's es ideal para aquellos con gustos tan pequeño todavía estábamos hambrientos cuando nos fuimos.

Food was superb. Service excellent. Three course meal in nice surroundings. Check out the menus online, it is really good value for what can only be described as excellent

My wife and I have eaten at Ritson's many time, and have always experienced the food to be of an high standard.The staff are always friendly and helpful and the menu quite varied. We have tried most of the meat and fish dishes, with no complaints and made to feel relaxed and welcome by the staff. Great experience.

We had starters and mains in the restaurant. We were given a bowl of olives and some delicious homemade bread when we arrived. The starters were lovely. Main course was very good, only fault being undercooked potatoes. The wine was very nice (Italian red) and the waitress was lovely.

Small select menu which l like.Excellent tasty food, well presented. Venison cooked a treat.Very nice situation in the heart of the hotel.Staff were lovely, nothing too much trouble. Would recommend a visit.

Had evening meal here which was ok but only because I could not be bothered to find somewhere else at the time. Should have eaten at the Plough

Pricey with variable standards. Sent starter back but replacement was fine. Better to eat in the bar.

Food of the highest quality, compliments to the Chef, Staff very attentive. Unable to have Dessert due been full after starter and main meal.

Ate here on 3 out of 4 days for our evening meal. Service pleasant and attentive. Food excellent on each occasion. Venison sausages (a special) one of the best meals I have ever had, and this is not said lightly. Also recommended - caramelised apricots etc., for dessert. Taste buds well and truly tickled.One point to Trip Advisor - this appears under Keswick so I missed it when it looked for Bassenthwaite. Hope this can be put right.

Went for an evening meal in the bar dining area. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was served reasonably quickly but was nothing special, much like you could get in a range of reasonable pubs. The price however was also reasonable given this is a hotel in a pleasant area. I suppose the dissapointment was I was expecting a bit better than average pub.

Was our third option for Sunday lunch last week as everywhere else was busy and we had failed to book. When we got to The Castle Inn, it was deserted - a lone barman stood behind the bar. We ordered fish and chips as they didn't have a sunday lunch menu available. Portions were huge, but sadly the fish was SO greasy, and mushy peas cold I couldn't eat it. Expected a lot more from this place. So sadly, we won't be returning.

Stayed at this hotel which is nice and comfortable. Unfortunately the meal we had at Ritsons was awful. Thai fishcakes were hard and tasted awful, 'homemade' bread soggy. Apple crumble was pieces of hard apple with a sprinkle of crumble ( from a packet?)and watery custard, pecan pie was solid. We complained but we got the usual 'I'll feed this back to chef' retort. They really need a better chef or at least one who can use a micowave properly! I must stress we are ot usually complainers.

We recently stayed at the hotel and it was fine and I did an honest review (Trouble with the shower), unfortunately the stay was tainted with the fact of what I would consider being ripped by Best Western, I am a long term customer of Best Western, unfortunately this time I forgot to take my point card, no problems I will just ring the agent and have the points put on. On doing so I then received an email which informed me that I could not claim the points ‘ because I had booked through a 3rd party’ THIS IS A RIPP OFF AND IT WOULD APPEAR THAT I HAVE LOST A NUMBER OF POINTS BECAUSE OF THIS BEFORE WITHOUT KNOWING. As in the past having my card it was just swiped.So if you have a SO CALLED REWARDS CARD by all means us it but DON’T BOOK THROUGH A THIRD PARTY I have used Best Western for years now after being ripped off by the Hilton chain but it would appear that they are all the same so I will now be a little more open minded and not be limited to the Best Western chain only .
